GPS dead - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems GPS in my old crusty HTC Desire died.
Does anyone have idea where i could buy a new GPS module for Desire?
Found one for HTC Desire HD but i doubt it would work / fit.

Repair in service is not possible (costs way too much, almost half the phone price)
It doesn't bother me since i didn't really used GPS, i always used 3G/WIFI for geo-localization etc, but if it's possible to fix then why not.

I found an antenna on a Romanian site. Doesn't help at all, but it's proof that one can still find spare Desire parts on the internet. Cheap too. It's less than 5 euros.

does anyone know how to change the microphone on my desire hd. i can find the replacement microphone on ebay but am not sure as how to change it, anybody have any knowledge about this can u please share it.. thnx in advance
P.S i am completely expert in disassembling my phone opened it may be 10 times: silly:
Well just google a disassembly manual and find where the mic is, and then simply replace it. It may take some soldering though...

None taken mate, guess I mistook you for a lmgtfy guy who just wants everything chewed up for him, and I am sorry for that.
However, can't help you with that precisely, but since you already know where is what, why not just get that mic off of ebay (I'm guessing it's cheap) and see it for yourself. Either you just need to plug out the old one and plug the new one in the right slot, or just cut the old one from the motherboard and solder the new one on it. Maybe if you could post some pics of the inside of your device where the mic is, I could try to work something out from there...
Cheers!

It looks like you would have to chip the old one off and solder the new one on, but then again, maybe one of your contacts on the motherboard is broken? What happened before it broke, did you do something with it, or did it just stop working?

I'd say it's soldered on those four dots in corners, but I'm really not an expert... Maybe it's best to take it to the shop...

Broken connector!

Hi guys, i recently got an htc one x which had signal problem, going into detail, i found that one of the connectors of the antenna cable is completely wiped off (soldered out) from the motherboard. the cable itself is fine
Is there anything that can be done?
I mean can i connect the antenna cable (core wire) to somewhere else to get it working,
PS. Currently, i only get signal at a few places, that too outside in open areas where signal strength is high.

Hey,
sorry to hear that. I have dealt with similar connectors in the past (on a laptop wifi card - results were 30% less signal) and in my experience its better to buy the connector and soldier it to the board if you can.
Good luck with the repair
Thanks

@Thant Thanks for the reply, but where to solder it, nothing is left there, i'll post the pics of my phone's board to make it more clear.
@peshko69
Thanks brother, i'll let this in the hands of experts, will hand it over to a good engineer
I was just worried coz one repair person said nothing can't be done now, as connector isn't there.

Do post your review about the black bar at the bottom ?
How annoying it is ? OR it seems OK to use with it ? Let us know...
Congrats!! Me too!! Was able to place my order online for in store pickup around 12:10pm. The girl at the store was confused as to how I was able to order it as she still couldn't find it in her system

[Q] OPO Origami dock?

Hi
Got my OPO from an online store in Malaysia (I'm from the Philippines). It comes with this extra package
I've watched a lot of OPO unboxing but I haven't seen this before

At the back
Inside is this thingymajig. I'm pretty sure this is some sort of a dock or something
Rear view
Tried putting it together. With all my best efforts, I've failed.
Only got this far. I dunno how to build the back part.
I tried searching for it on the interwebz but to no success.
Can anyone please point me out to a tutorial on how to build this?
Extra info: My OPO doesn't come with the Cyanogenmod logo at the back (dunno if this is a good thing). And it's got ColorOS bundled (Now using temasek's).
TIA!!
Have you scanned that qr code? May be some info will be there.

Thank you very much!
How is the slot made? Is it folded inwards? If so, guess I'll have to work a bit with scissors and glue ?
Can you provide the measure of that big horizontal fold near the top, so that I could calculate its dimension (preferably in metric)? ☺
Thank you again! ?
no idea if this is right or not (dont have the dock) but it looks like it might be an opening for a "speaker"
if you look in the bottom of the slot where the phone sits, you can see that its open for the speakers.....so maybe the sound gets directed down and out the back side of the dock.....maybe?
dont have anything that I can draw, but the opening at the back might point towards the phone....so the sound kinda loops around.

Anyone know how to use this or what it js?

The button does nothing, I guess. Not sure what it is. Kinda looks like received from phone, ear piece and battery

The cables are more receivers then connectors
The 2 white connectors on the left are usually used on 12 volts mainboards. Never seen them on any phone before.
Cant link it in any way to a phone, where did you find it ? Thats some wiring stuff from something else, thats also a battery thats not used in a phone. How did you link it to the M8 ?
Think this is off topic as its no part of an htc m8, so not even shure why you ask here ?
