Looking for an Android UI/UX Designer - Design, Prototyping, UI, Graphics

Hi guys,
For a new project I am looking for an Android UI/UX Designer to team up. I have an idea for an app and the user interface of the app, but unfortunately I am not very good at creating the interface myself in Android.
I am an Android Developer myself, mainly interested in the features and functions behind the user interface.
Please contact me with some basic information of yourself, and some apps or designs you already created. I will inform you about the purpose of the app after this, if I think you are skilled enough to create the interface.
Kind regards,
Yordi Pauptit

Are you offering this as a job? As in the person will get paid? I'll help if that's the case.

Someone might do it for free if it was open sourceā€¦
But if it is a paid app, the person who does it for free is crazy.
I have to add that UI things like managing the Android lifecycle are often more complex than the things behind the scenes. (Depends on the app though.)

Collapse Sections View- Idea

Here is an idea that you could work on. A way to be able to collapse Sections that you do not need. So everything would be placed in a Tree like view, and when you do not want to look at a section. you would collapse it. only having the name there.
Through the coming year the forums are just going to be getting larger and larger, and if you did this, it would cut down on the scrolling people had to do. Would there be any way to do this????
If that is not possible how about splitting down the phones in sub forums for instance by year of release?? I dont know if it can be implemented but if it can would be good as you can find what you want quickly.
I would love this. For most people, there are probably only 1 or 2 device sections that they look at regularly.

No, not like that - that's just an archive. I mean a fully working one with Reply and Quote options etc.
The archive one is good for reference, I guess, but it's no good if you want to participate in discussions from your phone.
That has been put forward to the Admin Team to.

I have a better idea, as long as it's possible. How about letting users customize which phone forum to appear on their page?
Let's say I don't want Touch Pro2 to appear on my screen. If my account is logged it, the Touch Pro2 forums will dissapear, and if I want to make them appear I can re-enable the forum in my Control Panel.

[Q] Any proper Dev's here? Fancy a small challenge ?

*sigh*.. It's like asking for permission to ask a question. You'd be best off asking here directly.. Developers tend to have different strengths and weaknesses

You should at least describe what kind of app is that
If I were to say openly then it would give someone else the opportunity to make the same app and the Dev (if there is one) who would agree to make it wcould lose out even if only on the credit for making it.
Im guessing in order to get help you can't automatically presume that most developers are d*cks who steal ideas from other people.
Now you are putting words into my mouth. Not really helpful that. Though the vast majority are not there is always a small number who plagiarise as is seen in the market. Now may I thank you for your comments as I await an answer.
I'm guessing you wont pay them either? I think developers might be reluctant if they feel that after hearing it, they might get in trouble for deciding they wont go ahead (I've been in that situation before)
As a developer... what? I have no idea what you're on about.
If you want a developer you need to:
1. Make available information about what you want developed.
2. Pay someone (a reasonable sum), or have a genuinely interesting project. The later being substantially less likely than the former.
Yeah...even if I pm'd you for information, and then decided I can't proceed on developing it... isn't it the same? I would have heard your idea anyway, so you're better off saying it directly. ;-)
Or... you could apply for a patent on it if you fear there are lots of thieves here lmao

OK thanks for all the replies I will put my idea to a Dev forum that welcomes them.
Guys, please try and keep this on-topic without resorting to flaming the moment I close this tab.
@OP, XDA is all about sharing and working together to achieve common goals. As a result, developers here tend to work best when others can get involved. This kind of post pops up now and then, but these ideas usually end up unfulfilled due to the lack of information available.
And remember this is people's hobby, not necessarily their job, so most people aren't about to commit to making an app when they have no idea what it is. If it's not interesting to them, they likely won't want to do it.
awww sulky wulky. Hey any devs wanna build an app for me? I'm selling it but won't pay for it, and have no way of supporting it further down the line? No? Didn't think so. Flan.

How would you know if the developer that you share the idea will not simply use it for his own profit?
This is xda-developers (a developer community) and I never heard about a case of stolen ideas here.
If you'd like to find some help implementing an idea, you should at least describe the developer profile, technologies,...
i.e. I'm looking for a developer to build a simple 2D game that connects to a website to load pictures using http protocol.... No previous experience required, All source code should be sent to me and I'll share the profits.... please PM me for details.
You can try rent-a-coder and, for a fee you have your idea implemented.
Your arrogance is not welcome here pal.
Good luck with your idea.
I make a post offering to give someone my idea for an app that if they can make they can do what they like with and I get flamed for it. I am not a Dev, I am very new to Android OS. I see a need and think someone may find it easy to meet that need so try to make it known so an individual may even if the want profit from it. And for this I get called arrogant and told I am not welcome.
And as for the trolling I will not comment.

good luck, you won't find any! you come here asking for someone willing to do some stuff for you you won't tell them about before they agree to do it? lol! why should ANYONE agree to that. i, for one, am not interested on this conditions. also, this here (xda & android) is about community development, open source and therefore open ideas where everyone can profit.
if you wan't to sell the app then hire some dev for 20$/h but then you are indeed @ the wrong place here. otherwise just tell everyone about your idea and IF it's interesting, some people might pick it up...
Go and ask an iPhone dev if you wanna behave like that...not because youd fit in being a wanker but because they're much more commercially minded. It's funny in your original post you kinda imply most people working in this section and putting out material are not 'proper devs'. This is xda and this is open...people suggest apps all the time and people make it for free and maybe include ads or small charge to cover there costs, see lag fix, noled and galaxy s sim unlocker on market. You can be like the idea makers from there and just go 'that covers my needs and it's cool' or you can merrily skip along to an iPhone dev who is all profit.

So let's make it clear: you are offering the dev the idea and if he realizes it, all profits would go to him? He will publish it and everything? So why don't tell it straight away, if it's interesting someone will do it. Even if 2 or 3 people do it, there will be 2 or 3 apps for the same purpose. So what? How many im clients or gps navigation software are on the market, and still coming out? Do you think only one of them is getting money and the others don't? Users also like to have choice...
However you should at least tell what kind of skills are required? 2/3d gaming? Databases? Web connection? Kernel hacking? I think even if you aren't a developer yourself it shouldn't be difficult answering these questions... at least you are selecting potential candidates... that would be the minimum requisite for posting such requests, how can I know if I could do it if I don't even know what skills are required? Not all developers have the same background you know...

You are not going to dev it by the sounds of it, so it is really not up to you to keep such a project closed, isn't that exactly what you are asking to happen anyway? ( have another dev make it for you. )
You are coming on a forum, asking if any dev is willing to work on a secret project... ?
If there is money involved, and thus a reason for secrecy, do mention it.

[Q] [DEV] AIO Samsung SGS-II Tool?

Hey guys,
I thought I might get the ball rolling and throw a post up here. Was a Samsung Vibrant user before I got my SGS-II on Friday. The AIO Vibrant Toolbox became an invaluable tool for flashing/rooting/stock-flashing/etc. my Vibrant. Was wondering if anyone was working on developing the same tool for the SGS-II?
If the source is available anywhere, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it myself with one of my buddies. I'm a wireless test engineer for an Android Device that's in development and we've worked on some android housekeeping/downloading/utilities software over the past few months. Wouldn't mind trying to contribute to the XDA Community.
Either way, I think it would be awesome to have something like this with the inevitable torrent of ROMs/Mods/Roots and such that will be coming.

IDK about you, but it seems pretty clear to me that he wants the source for the Toolbox, not the phone...
Thanks, downloading that now.
What about the binaries/source for the Vibrant Tool? I know I might have to check the Vibrant forums for this, but if anyone on here is a Vibrant Migrant like I am and happens to have/know the location of the original source for it, that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.

[APP]Iphone Notifications Style Lite

As the name of the thread says. If you want iphone style notifications then download the app from the market. It is free and pretty sweet.
Video is below:
Link to the app is here
Enjoy and if you like the app hit the thanks
Credits to the developer who made it and to TechandMe who reviewed it.
just in case
If you didn't develop this application, you should't be asking people to hit your thanks button You're just here to provide a link to the Play store.
This is sweet, good job!

true and you do have a point sir. but i wonder if i did not come across this app while watching the review on youtube i wonder how many people on these forums would know about it..probably not a lot. just sharing like i said and giving people more options on how to customize their phones since we have the best OS in my opinion that lets us do this without the need to root.
Like the whole point of android..it is about sharing what we have and what we know..And i know about this app and wanted to share it with the people here. if it is in the wrong place by all means move it but i feel if people are going to share apps that they find on the market and want to share it with people then i think i am in the right place for it.
Using it..... would be using it for sometime until i get bored with this new stuff

CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, or any other ROMs?

Would Cyanogen Mod be interested in developing for this phone now that we have unlocked bootloader? Given the choice, I'd love Paranoid Android, but I went hold my breath.
CM is already in development . https://github.com/CM-zenfone2
BrokenROM https://github.com/BrokenROM/device_asus_moorefield
Seems that are only for ZE551ML I hope that will be compatible with ZE550ML
If someone can get pure AOSP or CM working, the ROMs will flow out like water... once a base is established building many ROMs is easy. If we get CM, then look for ROMs like Beanstalk, BlissPop, Carbon, , etc. to follow closely behind. Patience, it will happen...

Good to see Asus is showing commitment to this phone. Also great to see you guys are embracing the aftermarket ROM community. More vendors need to be supportive like this.
We love the enthusiast community - you guys are the ones that like to tinker and have contributed to our growth over the years when we were just a motherboard vendor. I bet many of you still have fond memories of building PCs with our components before tinkering with phones .

Awesome! Is there/will there be collaboration with the developers regarding the kernel and device tree from ASUS as well? That would be key to have a fully-working custom ROM in the nearer future (versus the developers having to learn from scratch and sort of fend for themselves, kludging their way along and delaying the end goal).
So exciting!
We post our kernel source, but that's all we can offer, unfortunately. Our software development is done at our Taiwan HQ. But if any devs need anything, just send me a PM and I'll ask our software team.

This makes not much sense to me honestly. Why locking a bootloader in the first place and then stating to push development hard by providing test phones to specified devs?
But still I want to thank you for your commitment in making this phone a huge success - we'll kick Galaxy and Xperia and the likes out once done

This is my push from Technical Marketing for North America due to needs and wants for the US market. I place great emphasis on the community that has made many of the previous phones I've owned so great. I want that for the ZF2.
I'll probably start development for this phone once i get it. Never worked with an x86 android device before but it sounds like a fun challenge

Hi,
I've got some sort of situation here concerning building the kernel for ZF2 on my own. I downloaded the kernel source from ASUS website and followed the instructions one by one (download the android source code, use the appropriate toolchain, issue the kernel build command using fhd_defconfig, etc.
The phone boots and works good, BUT:
The phone never gets to deep sleep mode because of hsic_s3_wlock (kernel wakelock from USB HSIC). Could you please ask someone from the technical department to check what is causing this or if any config entry is missing? I am really starting to doubt that this is something I can influence at all
