[q] galaxy nexus theme / home screen on note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys i wanted to ask how to get galaxy nexus home screen/ / theme on galaxy note 2 or tell me any themes so i can switch to it without using a launcher...!!!

Use a cm or aosp based custom rom .

Yep I would recommend the Apex launcher as the least intrusive and probably the best for changing themes and is the easiest on the battery as well. I had tried using SPB 3D but it is a battery hog so I don't recommend using it. You will find a wide variety of themes that are, very nice. Give it a shot, Apex I think you'll like it better than Nova. You will need the S Pen control app as well to keep full S Pen capabilities and add some improvements, like notification if you forget to redock the pen and walk away.

Only 5 Home screens on ICS?

do i miss some thing ? the options to get - 7 and even more will be nice...
There are enough launchers in the market that will let you have as many homescreens as you like.
And with API 14 all of them should have hardware acceleration.

i know, but still its really Disappoint
BTW: hi Friend, long time no see (its you?)
Why is it so disappointing? Android launcher has never had more than 5 screens.
For me personally, i have a hard enough time filling 5 screens with functionality. 7 would be insane haha.
And how can you really need 7? i myself use 2 HS

I only use 4 homescreens myself too. Still, once the ICS source is released, I'm sure many launcher replacements based on the ICS launcher will pop up with added features. It happened with Launcher Pro and ADW launcher, after all.
I use 7 screens as well.
If the 3rd party launchers do not work to my liking with ICS, I will learn to adjust.

2 is plenty for me, I like clean an minimal. 2 weather Widgets on one screen and Google search and music widget on the other then my regularly used apps go into folders in adw dock. I hope we can reduce the amount of screens if anything to continue this set up on my nexus when it arrives.

I use 4 homescreens but I'll probably only need 3 with ICS since I'll be using a few folders which I didn't do with gingerbread. I realized that when I was shortly on a miui rom and the folders were really helpful to categorize apps and the miui folders worked and looked like they supposed to, just like in ICS now.
I only use 3 but I can use 5 but the widgets to fill them up aren't as useful as if I just had 3

You won't even need a Google search widget anymore
I use between 3 and 5 homescreens, depending on the ROM (power buttons included/not included in notification area for example) and my current theme. So 5 screens on ICS launcher will be perfect for me, although I'll probably get tired of the launcher and switch to a more customizable eventually
I only use 3 homescreen, enough for me.
Why do you want 7 when you (probably) wont use the 2 on each side much?
5 screens is more than enough, I have been fine with just 3 screens the last couple of years, going to 4th or 5th screen it too far away in my opinion, just easier to use the app drawer at that point.

this..
its a nexus aka pure google.
you people should have known this if you were planning to get the galaxy nexus.
Don't forget u can just drag like apps or whatever u want on top of each other and it automatically creates very functional folders!

I only use 1 homescreen.

I use 3 homescreens, and even with those 3 I don't even use 1/2 of the apps on a regular basis. With the new improved folder UI, I see myself being just fine with 2 or 3 homescreens.
I must admit I actually use 4 1/2 screens on my HD2. 2 of those screens are used by full screen widgets for twitter and facebook, my Homescreen is packed with various calendar, notes widgets and shortcuts adn the other 2 are just filled with junk.
With the new widgets that ICS brings I can condense all my calendar widgets into a single smaller widget and the new folder function will tidy ALOT of my various shortcuts into accessible groups.
5 screens is more than enough unless you have several full screen widgets you wish to use and even then with the pixel density and resizable widget function of ICS im sure you will cope
Just remember that the more widgets you have running on the Homescreen the more it will slow up the scrolling and overall speed, Why do you think apple never introduced widgets into IOS and look how smoothly that flows.
Mark.
by the time you get to the 7th screen it would have been faster to just open the app drawer.

[Q] Does using a 3rd party launcher ruin the Stylus experience?

I'm considering buying a Galaxy Note 2 this week.
My biggest concern is, how integrated are the Stylus features into the stock Launcher?
I really want to use Nova Launcher, I hate touchwiz. My concern is that I will miss out on Stylus functionality by changing launchers.
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks
You will only loose page buddy (special home screens that appears only when some events happen (s pen removed from its slot, earpiece plugged in ...).
Everything else will work fine, for example you can use air view in the mail widget with nova.

Note II

Just picked up the Note II, rooted it and installed P.A.C rom on it. Loved it on the S3. What I noticed is I lost basically all function with the S pen? It's basically a really skinny finger now. Well my question is, is there a rom that supports the s pen like the stock touchwiz?
Try this.

I still prefer a TW based ROM(Cleanrom 5.0) for full functionality like the s-pen and certain games. You can download an alternate launcher like Nova to get the AOSP look if thats what you are after.
For me, Cleanrom 5.0 + Nova Launcher + Holo Locker = profit!

+1 to this. I have CleanROM 5.0 with a whole bunch of themes and mods. So it looks completely stock but with TW battery life and s-pen functionality.
CleanROM 5.0 + Nova + Widget Locker + AOSP theme.

Jedi X roms. If you hate AOKP r9ms just install GMD SPen apk and GMD Gesture Support, these two apks will get your SPen functionality back.

Galaxy N7100 display grid

I shifted from Note to Note II, The display grid of N7000 is much better than N7100 where you have the liberty to add 5 icons in a row where are Note 2 has a room for standard 4 icons. The space on the screen seems under utilized since the icons are far apart. 5 icons can be easily kept on the screen. It will give better look as well as greater usability.

well do a bit of search there are lot of mods all around which can help you to do that search for touchwiz launcher modded by balagamer or find launcher changer in assasins rom thread or try out the custom rom phoenix with 240dpi and see what beast u have in your hand u can even use nova launcher if you wish to sacrifice touchwiz

No lockscreen shortcuts or widgets?

Anyone else surprised by this? I'm okay with no widgets, but not having the shortcuts on the lockscreen is very disappointing.

Same here, very disappointed
Well hopefully they add it in in future updates. Really do miss that. Other than that, loving this phone!

I this a touch wiz or verizon change ?
touchwiz hadn't had lock screen widget since the new s5 version came out. the tab series doesn't even have them either. I have a feeling they're dunzo especially since lolipop got rid of lockscreen widgets anyway.

Widgets are there, they moved them away from the tabbed format. They went backwards a hit. Do a long press on the screen and they will come up.

no he means on the lock screen.

Yeah last galaxy device I had was the S4. I didn't know lollipop got rid of them. I can do without the widgets, I just miss the shortcuts. I loved putting a a google voice search shortcut on the lock screen for when I'm driving.
