Status bar color change? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is there an easy way to change the status bar color or can someone point me in the right direction to do it myself. I can't stand the grayish color that samsung uses. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

You have to pull the systemui.apk from the rom. That is where most of the status bar stuff is at. You can use apk tool to decompile and recompile the apk.

I went and pulled the systemui and decompiled but can't seem to find the items i need to edit. Is it just a PNG file or do I need to edit the XML also? Does anyone know where they are located in the systemui?

You need a services.jar edit and then a png edit. Pretty easy.

That is for the background. Reading through the other links on that tread, I still can't find the line in any or the services.jar areas.

That is a really good site. Sadly, it doesn't change all the icons on the factory rom. Dang, I'm so close to being done with this theme, only a few things standing in my way.
I was just reading a tutorial on this. I think it was in the droid x forum.
Sent from your mom's phone.
Well I made the rest of the icons, now I'm back to needing to change the clock and date color in the bar.

[Q] Help.... Need to change color of Background, cannot see font

Okay, I've just ported over a few themes to the ultimate droid 2.1.0 and in the transition, my menus font is white on a white backgroud. I cannot see the font unless I use the trackball and highlight it. Would anybody be willing to show me what files to change that or even better help me by changing them for me? I am not a themer by any means and am just looking for a little help thanks.

Nobody knows how to do this? I am going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks
It's in the colors.xml I think .
It may be in values folder.
Once you decompile the
framework.apk
Not at a computer or I could give you a better idea.

I'm running the new Urban theme that was just updated for Ultimate droid 2.1.0....It happens on any program i run when i hit menu to bring up menu options, the font is white on a white backgroud.... Just need to change either the font to black by default or background to default
halfway there
Ok, I've extracted the framework-res file to my PC... I located the colors folder and now i'm in need of help on how to edit the file to make the font black instead of white... What program do i use to edit the file, and how do i repack the framework-res to insert back to the phone? Any help
menu_background.9.png and the image right next to it meed to be themes, they control the background when you hit soft menu button.

Cheers, exactly what I was looking for while themeing my SGS

(Q) Anyone know where this is

I'm looking for the png or xml that controls the white background for this menu. Found the icons that are in the menu but not the background itself
Thanks for the help guys. They are pngs in the framefork-res.apk= drawable-hdpi= and they are menu_submenu_background.9, menu_background_fill_parent_width.9 and menu_background.9
But now i have a new problem. Does anyone know how to change the text color? I need it either white or even red.
The menu background color will be located in an xml file in the /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Not sure the file but it will be controlled by a theme xml
That is a png it is most likely in a sub folder you have to look just because menus are in drawable-hdpi doesn't mean that the menu base is ill try and find it and edit post when I do
Edit its in drawable-hdpi search menu its there you have to really look though
Are you sure that you didnt just find the .9.pngs? i am pretty sure the color itself is controlled by the XMLs as well though wouldnt bet my life on it.

i know how that is when i searched menu all i got where the .9 files and the icons for settings etc. You could be right and i am just missing it if you are thats awsome i could get into modifying the menu background to have cool graphics as well then for my phone pretty easily. If you get the chance or someone finds out for sure please let us know.

Text color is def in xml files. Also as a warning make sure you are correctly modifing the .9 files if you treat them like plain. Png files you will likely have problems down the road.

Yup yup looked in pretty much every Xml in htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk and i'm starting to think that i'm looking in the wrong place. Maybe it's in a .jar?
I already got the .9 pngs made up and they are about 90% transparent. That is why i need to change the text color cuz u cant really see it now.

Notification bar 2.3.4 JVP

I want to change the color of my notification bar on JVP. Does anyone know where i should change it?
I did get the notification dropdown menu to be transparent by changing systemUI.apk but don't know where to find the background of the notification bar itself.
I really do not like the all black one, I think it makes the screen look smaller

An easy way to change the "NB" notification bar color, is to use universal androot, root your phone, then DLoad Ninjamorph, open "N morph" then click new project, select system, framework, framework-res.apk, res, drawable, then scroll to statusbar-background.png press and hold to edit color, hit menu button save your changes, backout to "N Morph front screen, tap finish project, select framework-resapk, and your done, but you will need to find clock ect, apks on your own, it shouldn't be to hard, just remember these steps. Also N Morph creates backups of the files before you edit them, just remember to move your backup to a safe place so as not to be overwritten
Nice big
I don't think that works for 2.3.4. I don't have statusbar-background.png in framework-res.apk.
I read somewhere that it's in systemUI.apk in GB? But when i change it there using adb it doesn't change.

its because its a hex color! if you decompile system-ui.apk in apk.manager and go to res/layout/statusbar you will see on the first line depending on your os search for>> android:background="#ff000000" and change to >> android:background="@drawable/statusbar_background"! then go down to the very bottom where it says date view and you will see the same thing >>android:background="#ff000000" change to the same as you did above and then save and recompile!
now whenever you change your statusbar_background.png it will change to whatever you change it too!!
where can i find that system-ui.apk? i tried searching for it!!

Unrelated to your question but, how did you get your dropdown menu to become transparent?
I want to do it on my SGS running 2.3.3 and can't get a proper guide anywhere!

@yash1229 you can copy my drawable-hdpi folder to your SystemUI and you'll get transparent dropdown notification panel.
take my files decompile and look around =)

Tablet UI transparent status/sys bar HELP

Ok guys,
Im going to post this in every Note 2 variant forum until I can figure this out.. I mmanaged to get a working transparent status/systembar on my note 2 on tablet UI.. the only problem being that my phone totally locked up and being the DUMB a$$ that I am I did create a backup.. reflashed a rom and thought I could recreate it.. I have located what I think the files name is and it is tw_status_bar_background.9.png. Now when I try to recreate it the status bar becomes all distored when pressing something.. I will show you pictures below of it working and it NOT working.. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.. I am not asking anyone to give me a step by step but more of just yes thats the right file or no thats not it..
PS the black line you see at the bottom of first pic is bc the wallpaper is not scaled properly, which can be fixed..
Honestly the easiest way to do this is to simply have a rooted phone and put ParanoidAndroid rom on it or one that has hybrid settings. It has an option to change the status bar color and you can make it transparent

Are you currently on a touchwiz rom?
Most devs use a hex value for the status bar, very few have a png.
If its a hex, change value to #00000000 where the first 2 digits represent the transparency value an rest is color.
If it is using a png image as you say and its a '9 png file, then it has other things that has to happen to it before you can use it.
Its gotta be patched by draw9patch. Then recompiled. After that, you can do what your looking to do.

The only thing is .9png that I most certainly think it is..is 4pxls by 54pxls so trying to edit it then patch is a B$%#^H..if you catch my drift.. and I havent been successful at doing it yet.. Thats another reason why I think it becomes distored like that..

Lmao...you are in every thread. ..jesus
'9 files can stretch to any size, from any size. I've worked on ones 4px before, its a pain but its possible. That leaves a 2px area to work. That's how android works. So if its too small, make it bigger. Patch, recompile
