Camera lens protector - One (M7) Accessories

I have tried searching, perhaps I'm looking for the wrong thing. But I'm looking for a "screen protector" for the camera lens. My one already has some very fine scratches on the lens and I'd like to put something over it which can be replaced. I don't want the image quality to degrade in 6 months. This happened on my desire but of course I could just replace the back case. I know I can put my phone in a case and I do have a double dip flip case but I don't always want to carry it in the case.
Any ideas?

My realook screen protector (which I am happy with, even though it was hard to get on) came with lense protectors. At first I thought they were just excess plastic circles from production, then I realized they fit perfectly over the camera lense. They are kind of a pain to apply, scotch tape is your friend for repositioning them.

Get a fish eye for the phone. The little round magnet will keep the lens from resting on anything and getting scratched. Plus, you can take cool pictures when you want.

I used to use Martin Fields Overlay for my HOX, it comes with a protector for the lens. Only issue i had with that screen protector was that it was a little thick and it left a rainbow effect on the screen but in terms of clarity of screen there was no difference or interference. THey make the same protector for the HTC1.
Z

picked this up and cut some out from old screen protectors I had. works great. 3/8" is a good fit.

i noticed when i try to cut them out with scissors or a blade the edges don't stick well. this cutter makes a clean cut and all edges stick to the lens.

screen protector for the camera lens?

I know it sound stupid, but the camera lens does stick out. Is there anything out there that can protect it from getting scratch up?
Typically screen protectors have holes in them for the cameras.
With that said, I am not aware of any. Once i get a case for the device, I am hoping that will extend just a hair past the camera so that it is recessed.
About 99% sure there won't be any. No one wants a film over the lens. Well , mostly no one. Present company excluded.
I have used bestskinsever.com full body on my G1. Covers the camera lens, it does not affect the quality of the camera.
Well the phone does not SIT ON THE LENS....It does sit on the ring around the lens... so we should be fine
looking at mine the lense seems to protrude form the ring.
i found camera phone lense protectors at a store called daiso near my house. only $1.50

Yes, it does...look closely.
Just get either the Body Glove case or Seidio Innocase II and that will fix the camera lens problem. The lens now won't be exposed.
Martin fields screen protectors used to have little pieces they include with their screen protectors for exposed camera surfaces...i dunno if they're gonna make a screen protector for the Evo though
I make my own lense protector.
1. Trace outline
2. Put over extra screen protector from a 5 pack and cut.

AT&T screen protector corner radius is off

A bit of caution when picking out screen protectors
I had to cut the edges on my AT&T screen protectors due to the nature of the soft back which when pressure is applied to the front causes lifting on the screen protector's 4 corners. The dimensions are fine but the radius is too small for the corners causing them to protrude ... just cut them a little but I would have preferred to have 100% perfect screen protectors instead of half assed ones from AT&T ... why am I not surprised.

I purchased the same protector. I have the same issue as well. Makes it look really cheap with the corners sticking up.
I had that, plus since I am opening mine a LOT for hacking, the bottom looks like crap.
Looks like I am going to replace the protector within a week of getting the phone.
Just wrap the whole phone in plastic wrap with the back off. Then slip it on.
Bad idea most likely, but it would be funny if it worked well.
same issue. Trimmed the corners. It doesn't look that great, but doesn't peel up when i hit the corner on something. I'm on the third protector already. First one i screwed up the orientation and got dust under it when fixing. second peeled up when i hit one of the corners.
must be those poor quality screen protector. there us not much of an option atm. i would rather get a HTC HD mini screen protector and punch a hole on it.
I just had Ghost Armor put on my iPhone 3G (which I'm handing to my daughter when my Aria comes in). It's pretty nice, but the Aria isn't showing up on their website yet. And you would only really want to get the screen done, since you open up the phone to get to the battery and the SD Card.
Yep, I cut them carefully and used the scotch tape method to get perfect placement.

Can you elaborate on the "scotch tape method"?
I ordered invisible gadget guard from amazon. Havent put it on yet, but that packaging sure makes it look impressive.
Before separating the films I placed tape to use as handles to apply the protector flat (instead of holding it).
Then after layed down on the screen pulled up and slid tape underneath to attract any particles which cause bubbles. Slide with sticky side face up so it pulls from the protector's sticky film (rarely do the particles stick to the screen itself).

Has anybody noticed the quality of these are not that great?
Have had on for 3 days. There are a LOT of scratches on the protector itself. I usually keep phone in jean pockets with a wallet.
Anybody plan on trying the Amzer ones, although I have heard their quality may be dubious too for the n1.

I ordered this, and it shipped today. I got my 8 GB card in the mail today, too. I kind of wished I had gotten a 16 GB card, since my whole music collection is about 8 GB. But I may pick up another 8 GB as my "backup film roll" at a later time.

I can't believe I didn't figure out this solution earlier. Obviously, trimming the excess on the corners would solve the issue, but I wasn't comfortable using a razor blade to make the trims. But just 5 minutes ago, it occurred to me to use a nail clipper (while already installed on the phone, and the back plate removed). Worked perfectly, was super easy, and did no damage to the phone.
Yeah that didnt occur to me either. I used small crafting scissors.

Same thing happened to me, just on the bottom corners though, but as soon as I put my case on it covered up those bubbles, cant even see it. Quality of the protector seems to be decent. I used a universal one prior and it was ****!
I ordered the stealth guard though for the phone (full body protection) just now so when that comes I'll let you guys know how that works out as well.
I used the Invisible Gadget Guard that someone else mentioned (got it off ebay though, not amazon, it's the exact same one however). The quality of it is definitely top notch, I've had it on for a little over a month now and it has no scratches/marks that are visible without actually looking for them and even then there are minimal and very minor ones. My one complaint with it is the top two corners did start to peel a bit, I ended up peeling it up a tad and cutting them (with difficulty, this thing is tough!) and reapplying that part and I haven't had a problem since! I do have a few blemishes down the left side due to my clumsiness during the initial applicaton, but the case covers it for the most part
i tried the invisisheild and did not like the rubbery feel, got at t sheild it is a hard plastic and fingers slide much better, yes i had to trim but no big deal there. all you have to do is put the protector on the phone with back cover off, then take a new sharp razor blade at about 50 degree angle to the edge of glass and trim excess off. 3 months now and have not lifted any corners. these are much better than the rubber vinly covers that tend to stretch and need trimming as well.

Desire lens cover badly scratched

I like to think that I look after my handset and indeed the screen and casing are untouched. But look in bright light at the lens cover in the back cover and it has numerous very light scratches.
It must be a very soft plastic. Will it effect quality and can it be replaced?
Thanks
Remove the back cover and compare picture quality. You can see there is a massive difference. I'm having yellow tint in every pic.
Any back covers on the market with better lens cover?
Get a new back cover and cover the lens part with screen protector, thats what I recommend
That wont necisarily help, since some users have reported that the non scratch coating on the inside of the window also becomes scratched over time on some phones.
I'm going to bite the bullet soon & try the method suggested here

Worst I can do is knack my lens & if so, just buy a replacement cover. First ever time I've had anything like this on any of my phones & again, I do take care of it with screen protector & softcase...
Clean it with Displex - I had the same issue and it really worked - And Displex is only a few euros... Alternatively Brasso should also work, however I have not tested this.
I had the same issue. I think there is some layer over the plastic. I rubbed the cover with a oakley pouch for a couple minutes and the layer faded away revealing shiny plastic. I knew mine could not be really scratched. It's been fine ever since.

Displex. Found half a tube that must be nearly 10 years old - used on a beloved Sony Ericsson T68i (first colour screen). And seems to have a worked on my Desire. Just to can't understand why it got scratched in the first place as it is slightly recessed.
Must be very soft plastic which is a disappointing economy.

I did the same thing. Seems like some thin layer is what gets scratched. You can remove it gently with nail (or tooth, like i did LOL)...

No case, no screen protector..but

I am one of those who likes the phone as is.
Why cover/thicken it up? And gorilla glass sure as heck shouldn't need protection as it only reduces the sensitivity and usefulness - why buy a touch screen if you don't want to touch it in the first place.
BUT
2 days on the TGV's across France and Switzerland and boy was I cursing; the bloody phone slid everywhere ... so it made me think.
Got home and stuck 2 of those clear rubber/plastic kitchen cupboard door dome bumpers (Magnet for those in the UK) on the corners by the camera, and voila you have a non-slide phone and protects the lens at the same time.
Works for me, also helps the grip as your fingers go between the domes.
Each to their own. Hope its helps some.

I also hate casing, but... I hate scratches and dents more.
I've found mine is getting scratched on the 'bump' below the samsung logo. Stupid bit of design that put the most scratchable plastic on the entire phone on the only surface that touches the table.
I like mine au naturel too but it looks like we've no choice but to use a skin or case if you don't like scratches.

That "bump" actually stops the camera lens from getting scratched when place on a flat surface.. dunno why they didnt recess the lens though... or better still stick a lens cover on it!!
Im a case fan personally, yeah I love the look of the phone, but I want it to stay that way.. so Ill wrap it up! makes for good resale value near end of contract!
I stuck a strip of clear sellotape across the hump, prevents scratches until something better pops up
The sellotape works wonders!
I don't care scratches but the reason why I use case is the camera lens because it can be easily scratched and will take worst photo
.:SiLvErHuNk:.
I have a case an cheap one i bought on eBay and it works fine but ive ordered another one and am going to buy a screen protector - SGP Ultra Oleophobic Film which appears to be the best available, when you've spent €450 on a phone the last thing you want is for it to be scratched

Holy cow. Who said Gorilla Glass won't scratch? Jeez. Of course a good screen protector is recommended and also a good case which will protect the device if it drops accidentally.
Regards.
I have got a visible scratch right between the camera lens and the flash....missed both of them...Phew!!!...
so now I have a case always fitted, SP and also a cut out SP for the lens...

ok it happen to me now, i realise the scratch only happen after i remove the screen protector. i suspect that the anodizing of protector is the one that remove the anti scratch property of zenfone 2 screen.
PSA, do not use screen protector if you want to remove it in future.
Yep mine to it has some bad scratches i am really dissapointed with the quality and i was careful at least image quality is still fine
Im still looking for frame or rear glass replacement parts. Incase i need them. Image is fine but all scratched up . Lol
I man handle my phones like crazy no case past and present. I never ever had a scratch on my camera. Either your glass is bad or your doing something terribly wrong
