[Q] How to get the "Home" button LED to turn on (notify) with Go SMS Pro & Gmail?!? - LG Optimus G Pro

[Q] How to get the "Home" button LED to turn on (notify) with Go SMS Pro & Gmail?!?
Just got this yesterday & perhaps it's due to still being up at 5:30am but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the LED around the Home button to notify me of a missed text message thru Go SMS Pro & also the LED notification for email (Gmail) has stopped. And yes, the boxes for both messaging & email are check marked in the Settings menu (Home button LED-->Missed Events). Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
EDIT: I'm an idiot!!...I didn't have the "Downloaded apps" box check marked in the LED light settings menu. So everything (Go SMS Pro, Gmail & Google Voice) has an LED indicator now. Go SMS Pro is great with LED's since you can customize whatever color you want to use in it's advanced settings menu.

i use light flow which allows me to add a LED notification for any app

Have you tried it with Go SMS Pro on an Optimus G Pro? I just downloaded it & no matter what options I chose, it wouldn't work with Go SMS Pro. I made sure I turned on the Lightflow option in the Accessibility settings menu & the two alternate options yet nothing. I tapped on the test option & the LED light didn't turn on to verify it was working. It didn't work with Gmail either.

I had two bum LEDs (yellow and green) and had to swap out my phone with AT&T. When you power on the device do you see all of the different colors? That's how I knew I had an issue with the device itself and not just a setting.

I saw yellow, green blue, purple & red. Am I missing any other colors? FWIW, it blinks green when I have a missed call or text (with the stock texting app). Only way I can get the LED light to blink & use the Go SMS Pro app is to turn on the notification option in the stock texting app but disable the sound in that app. It's a hassle to go into the notification pull-down menu just to clear it. It use to blink blue for emails but not sure why it's not doing that anymore. My old Note 2 would blink regardless which apps I used for texting & emails, sigh...

Do you have the Downloaded Apps box checked in the Home LED menu? That should go off for any downloaded apps with notifications. (I think my Snapchat notifications blink red)

In smsgo there is a setting under notifications to let you use the led features and change the colors and such SMS go has so many options you have to go to the advanced. Section to get them all.

1- make sure the LED notifications are turned ON for messaging
2- make sure notifications for the default SMS app are turned OFF in the app
3- make sure notifications are enabled him under settings in GoSMS Pro
4- make sure "blink LED" selected in notification settings in GoSMS Pro

Thanks for the help guys! Ya, I already did all that prior to posting this thread. I figured out the prob thanks to Mrfeuss. Turns out it I didn't check mark the "Downloaded apps" option in the LED light settings menu. Still need to see if the (white from what I remember) Gmail LED notification is working now that I check marked that option. Will post back here once I get another email.

Received the Gmail notification for an email so in the end it's my fault the LED's didn't work, LOL! Thanks again for all the help!

[SOLVED] WidgetLocker Lockscreen issues on the SGS2 i9100

I've been having issues with WLL on my SGS2.
The app works but I can't seem to be able to add custom sliders.
There is no WL themes folder and wltheme.zip files don't install.
Has anyone else been having this issue on the SGS2?
NO LONGER AN ISSUE. Turns out apk was mislabled. version installed was 1.2 not 2.02. Sorry about all this. I tried to delete the thread but couldn't.

I don't mean the sliders that come with the app. I'm having trouble adding custom sliders and themes like CowonD3Lock, PowerMod3, ArrowSlider, etc.
WidgetLocker works without a hitch on my Galaxy S2 - with custom sliders installed. The way I moved them to the phone was via Dropbox. I moved the slider .zip-files to the Dropbox on my computer, then opened the (Dropbox) phone app and selected open with WidgetLocker for the slider archives.
Problem solved. Thank you guys
i have another problem with WL, when i want to copy files to my phone thru USB cable it says i must stop all running programs. When i stop WL everything is OK.
Is there any solution to this? (if you understand my problem)
WidgetLocker is awesome, however i haven't been able to use the Alternative Wallpaper option. Anyone else having that issue? I can select one and resize it but it never appears on the lock screen. Instead I only see the homescreen wallpaper.
SOLVED!
Apparently it just didn't like me resizing the orange background selection box to max. Leaving the size just shy of full got it working.
bugs and issues
So, is it just me?
I've been trying to play with settings but unfortunately these issues remain on SGS2:
Home Button
I have unchecked "Allowed Home Button" but I can still unlock the screen when I press the home button. Press once to see WL (with a small delay - bigger than on SGS), press again to unlock.
Wake Up
I can wake up the device also by using the power button despite having Easy Wake Mode unchecked.
Stock Lock
I always see the stock orange unlock screen first when a text message or email is received. Keyguard Dance is checked. If there is a missed call, it's fine, I see the WL. Stock screen was also on when the device was downloading a Gameloft game and it is also shown before an alarm is launched as well.
Notification
I have a slider for text messaging and emails with notifications enabled. Let's say I have both unread messages as well as emails. If I unlock it, read them all, the notification bubbles are still there - they're not cleared. Unless I clear them again using each individual slider.
Can someone please help me with this... I am trying to disable the 4 default sliders to use a custom one in their place... but CAN'T. I have searched the settings but can't find out how to do this still... arggghhhh.

You don't use settings menu to change the sliders, you must hold on a blank spot on the screen for a couple of seconds, the choose custom slider. To change what the slider shall do you just drag the slider and you will get a menu what you want it to do and change icons and so.
Hope this helped you a little bit on the way.

[APP] Light Flow

the developer has claimed the latest version on the play store is working for rooted phones, but I still am not having the best of success. I thought I'd start a thread and see how others are fairing.
The newest version has some improvement; being able to select different colors for different notifications and actually getting them to go off when you've pulled down the notification bar. however, it doesn't blink for me at all. When i get a text or email the corresponding light is a steady constant light if the screen is asleep. If you wake it up the light either disappears or only lights up very infrequently.
I've read some posts before the latest versions came out that some users had success getting it to work by actually turning Accessibility off. This seems to turn off the entire app for me.
anyone having better luck?
I didn't have much luck with it either. The app itself would become very unresponsive over time and I'd have to kill its process for it to respond again. I'm pretty sure I read that he may add the pulsing light option to more of the indicators in the future, but it's not something that is supposed to work right now. (Aside from the selections that do pulse.)
mine works great via cm10 and aokp jb make sure you turn off system notification light pulse etc and then check

you need to enable Samsung S3 mode. otherwise the light will stay green as for some reason in Samsung's software, "black" (off) is green and all the other colors are mixed.
anyone know if there is going to be options of other color blinking lights? the only options are blue and red. I want other blinking colors.

He's added code that works with rooted phones and allows all normal colors to flash plus keeps flashing red and pulsing blue. But it doesn't support custom colors. I will say this dev has done a lot of work to overcome Samsung's screw up of LED color matrix on U.S, models. The version for unrooted US S3 didn't work at all for me on rooted phone. I don't what iteration of v3.0.5 he has on Play at the moment.

I use the built in settings in paranoid android 1.9.6 no troubles, plus you specify apps for notification like lighflow, just a suggestion if you plan on trying another rom. I do love that app though.

The app works flawlessly with blinking blue and blinking red for me. As stated above make sure you have the SG3 Mode enabled and Accessibility enabled. Andrew is really busting his tail to ge this working based on the US version problems. He is very close with e non-rooted version.
I would suggest starting by disabling all notification in Lighflow and then do one at a time. Also make sure you disable the LED in Android Settings because it conflicts.
I'm using cm10s led settings all with custom colors and they work perfectly. The only reason I didn't like light flow was you could never kill app in recent apps or it would stop working.

Just got schooled by this app. If you use the backup feature, you can't simply do a restore after flashing a new/updated ROM (with full wipe). You have to go and cycle the S3 mode toggle after the restore. If you don't, the S3 mode will be checked, but it never went to su for access, and it won't work. There's 30 or so minutes of my life gone forever.

Light Flow has been updated. You can now flash all colors of LEDs and not just the red and blue. Non rooted users now have support also.

I wish.
Here's my standard response!
This seems to be an ICS/Samsung bug. It happens for some people and also with other apps that use the accessibility service such as Tasker, Llama and others.
Try the following that I've just been posted someone has tried:
For those who wants to try it do the following with your Samsung S3: - Go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Talkback "ON" - Select "Settings" from the bottom of the page - Uncheck all Talkback options - Switch Talkback "Off" again - Go back to Settings -> Application manager -> All - Disable Google TTS (text to speech) - Disable Samsung TTS (text to speech)
I've reported this to samsung's research and development team and I've been told their development team is looking into it.
It doesn't happen with phones on ICS from other manufacturers.
I am still looking into ways around it though.
Bummer thanks for trying nice to have flashing working but don't like looking like a duffis in front of others when I go in my folders.

There seems to be a bug with the "USA and Canada S3 mode" it works fine with the root option, but with the US variant, in two hours, Light Flow was my number two app in Battery usage, and brought my power from 100% to 73%. For now I'm going to keep testing and see why it's doing this.
Has anybody else notice Android OS and Light Flow (number 1 and 2 on the list) use large amounts of cycles?
Cheers
The update app ruin the light on me using att sgs3 the pulse blue light does blink and then pulse then turn off. When you try to select the blue blinking light it does not light at all. Revert back to the previous apk and it fix it

Notification LED

I cannot get the Notification LED to work. I mean isn't it supposed to blink when I get new emails? I tested it with the lightflow app and it works in that test, but other than that I don't know how to see it blinking? Could it be broken or I'm doing something wrong?

You may try to config the Email app or gmail app, if the led work with low battery ( blinking red) then it should not be hardware problem it just that mis config in some app s
I'm having the same issue.
I can confirm that the LED is functional, through third party apps that turn it on manually, but I have yet to receive a real notification flash. Fortunately, that looks to be more of a software issue which should be easily resolved.
Same issue on my end.

I finally managed to have it working! In Lightflow app, in notifications for example I chose gmail then for inbox under LIGHT tabI changed notification LED color to white and at the bottom of the same page, change the state of pm8xxx-led LED to: "Flash - Hardware controlled".
Now when I get new emails, the LED flashes! But its weird that by default this doesn't work.
Is it a single color or is it multi-colored? Only white is working for me.

Yes, there are third party apps that let you customize this.
so selecting a differed led color with lightflow is pointless, huh.
So it's not an RGB led like the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 ones?

No apps have been able to access other colors. This has led (hah) to speculation that it is not a RGB LED and only supports white. This is what my leds classes on my Nexus 4 (which has an RGB LED) look like:
And this is what the Nexus 7 looks like:
As you can see it's missing all three primary (for light) colors. Ignore the spotlight one, I believe that is the flash next to the camera. If we are to trust that the software is reporting accurate hardware then unfortunately it is only a white LED and will not be able to be adjusted.
EDIT: Looking at iFixIt's teardown pictures we can clearly see that it's a single color LED.

I'm having the same problem, assuming it will be fixed with a software update.
By making tweaks in Lightflow, I was able to get it to function when I receive emails.
However, it is very dim. Nothing like my SGS3, which is bright enough to be noticeable and actually alert me. I can barely tell that it's flashing on the N7, so I don't see much usefullness there. Not to mention a case will make it a completely moot point.
Is the LED supposed to light up while the tablet is turned off and charging?
How can I tweaks in lightflow to make it work

I was able to get the notification light to work for an email only when the screen is turned off. if I'm using the tablet & get a notification, it won't light up, but if the screen is off & I get one, it starts blinking.
my led light only flashes when the notification initially comes in, and doesn't flash at all afterwards, not sure whats up with it, would have assumed that it would blink again, but when I tested it earlier, it glowed once, then nothing for the next 2 minutes that I stared at it.
I thought my LED was 'busted'. Seems to work occasionally with gmail but not with other applications. It's also an extremely slow pulse. I miss it usually.

That being said, there is an app, Light Flow - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow
It lets you control all lights of your phone and you can select applications that will trigger that light for notifications.
Check this thread for a guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413620
Works for stock as well as CM

I just tried installing and setting up the app myself, and it's working great with the capacitive buttons. They are turning on with each notification with my screen off.
I'm attaching my settings backup with the current version 3.11.2 Pro
1. Install the app
2. Unzip the attached file. Place the "2013-10-10" file in "InternalSd/lightflow/"
3. Run the app. Go to Tools, Restore Settings. It will ask for root permission.
You can look over what I did. Please note that the buttons are referred to touchkey-led. All you have to do is Select an app you want giving you notifications, turn on the notification enable check box and the touchkey-led option (Step 4 and 5 below)
Side note : For apps like Hangout and Facebook Messenger, Light flow needs admin privileges and that has to be done manually on each phone
1. Go to notifications
2. Select an app like Facebook Messenger
3. Select Accessibility service required

Should be able to, but I tried changing a few settings, didn't work with LightFlow. It has LED blink but not button blink
The button-LED blink option is apparently available in a similar app
I haven't tried it yet, but i'm going to

With LighFlow, the buttons light up when there is a notification and stay on till you turn on the screen/check the notification (they don't blink in LightFlow). You can select if you want screen to turn on with the notification but by default it is turned off in the app.
I haven't tried using ButtonLED app yet so can't comment about what it does.

Can't argue with that. Can't restrict it's trigger permissions either since you want it to run for each notification
I noticed that this app does not work for the BBM released recently. Can u help?

Quick question before installing...Would the customization dissappear afeter uninstalling this app?? some apps don't turn back to the pre-custom settings

Notification sounds per app?

Am I just blind or dumb or is there no place in the system to set different notification sounds for things like calls, Gmail, text messages. I went into apps and notifications and went into individual apps and see notification options but no options to change what sound to use.

I couldn't find a way to do it either. I found an app to do it through the app store but it isn't working right.

Glad it just wasn't me lol
When has this ever been an option in stock Android?
You can use Light Flow to set custom notification sounds and vibrations.
It works. Mostly.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite
There is a paid version that offers more options.

I don't understand. Almost all, if not all apps allow you to change the notion sound. Open the app in question and drill through it's settings menu and you'll find an option to change the notification sound.

For calls, go to settings, sound, phone ringtone. You can set a different ringtone for different callers to. You have to open their contact info, click the hamburger menu, and select set ringtone.
Gmail: This can't be done in general settings, which is great because you can set different sounds for different email accounts. Swipe right to open the side panel, scroll down to the bottom and select settings. Then select the email account. Select manage notifications, expand advanced, then sound and change to whatever.
Messages: Settings, notifications, sound.
A lot of apps can do this, some can't. Facebook you USED to be able to, but I can't find it anymore. Anyway, hope this helps. Google has made it a little cumbersome to change the sounds for some reason...
It is definitely kinda cumbersome to change the sounds, but the option is definitely there. Facebook in particular is really annoying to change sounds since you can play a different sound for every notification type.
Go to the notifications settings for your app, app info -> notifications, and you can then select the notification you want to change, then tap Advanced and you can change the sound that's played.

how did you guys do that? How did you make those settings magically appear? Lol. I must have just overlooked it or just didn't dig in deep enough.
I guess I was more focused on the notification section in settings and not within the apps themselves.
Thanks guys.
:good:

Where do you do it for Facebook? If I go to settings, apps, facebook, when I expand advance in notifications, there is no option for sound. I can't seem to find it in the app itself either.

When you go to notifications, you should see a screen like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Tap on one of the notification types (left of the vertical black bar) and then hit advanced and you can change the sound.

Wow, all this time I've been blind to it! Fricken Google... Words with Friends was notifying with a sound even though I had it turned off in the app. Looked at pretty much the same notification setup as FB, sure enough, there it was... But why Google? Why make it so hard? Anyway, thanks! Now I can really change some things.
