Lol I have never mentioned that it is for 1.17 ...this is for any hboot .. hboot doesn't matter when u are restoring a pre installed restore image

Do this . Delete the twrp folder in sd card . Go to TWRP . Choose backup and untick all partition only tick boot partition .. and backup .. then mount the sd to pc and copy all the files into the current backed up folder replacing the existing boot.img .it must detect it now

Guys! i got an idea!
i have an OTA to 2.17.720.2 and i have 1.29 RUU i believe if i can get RUU 2.17 for any country and combine the 3 files and create an RUU 2.17 for India! also an installer from installshield is very easy to be created!
i'll do my best to download a 2.17 RUU for any country to test but my internet is so slow it may take 2 weeks to download 600 MB!
Stock 2.17.720.2 India cwm nandroid backup
Thank's to kryptoner for nandroid backup and to minachvim for stock recovery and boot
I made some changes in that nandroid backup, removed some unwanted apk and complete unroot. So this will be stock unrooted rom.
Here little guide:
1. Download and unzip. >> clockworkmod.zip
2. Put unziped clockworkmod folder in to the sd-card (Do not change name it must be like that clockworkmod\backup\2012-10-10.17.00.28)
3. Go to recovery and full wipe (you can use ARHD super wipe script)
4. Now go to backup/restore and choose restore
5. After that go to fastboot mod by holding power+vol down button for 10 secs..
6. Flash boot, here is script that's include stock 2.17.720.2 boot.img >> Flash_boot_2.17.720.2.zip
After that do not restart.
In your PC, Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK. cd to your fastboot files folder >> fastboot.zip
7. It's important after flashing boot.img, Type:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
8. Flash recovery, here is script that's include stock 2.17.720.2 recovery.img >> Flash_recovery_2.17.720.2.zip
Now again in PC
9. Type:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
and reboot
That's all, your mobile now is stock and you can get officially OTA update.
Good Luck everyone

You need stock recovery to install an OTA update.
Well you are not on full stock that's why it get stuck !
Stock not rooted rom (original nandroid)
Stock boot.img (kernel)
Stock recovery
Or use the right RUU
Is what you need
Search for getting back to stock ! Q&A is full with these posts......
I'm not the one who's gonna spoonfead you ! It's damn easy to use a search button

You have to unroot your rom, there is an app that can turn on and off the root function. I saw someone mention it in another thread ...don't know if it's in the playstore !
And you should have taken a nandroid backup from the official rom before you applied root !
The app is called ota root keeper ....

Well, technically not... You could get your hboot version and the CID using getcid from the store and figure it out, but a PC is needed to relock and flash the RUU, or flash the boot.img.

Yeah whats on the phone is not important, the trick is to enter the bootloader and lock the bootloader (as you said you already did) then perform the commands gien in the thread and flash the firmware. It will lift your hboot to 1.36. After that you unlock th bootloader again and flash a custom recovery and perform a full wipe and then install the desired JB rom

i changed the image name and it helped! now the bootloader says relocked without any security warning (earlier there used to be a security warning when I tried to fastboot oem lock).
But the RUU failed. I guess it's because the radio version is 3831.19.00.120 whereas the RUU is 3831.17.00.18
But I've found out a RUU version 3831.19.00.120 but it is named as "RUU PRIMO U ICS 40A hTC Asia WWE 2.22.707.2 Radio 20.76.30.0835U 3831.19.00.120 release 274703 signed.exe". I'm from India, can I use this RUU?

No, it ain't working. May be I am not able to follow the correct procedure but I am sure that the radio versions doesn't match . So, I've very little hope with that RUU. May be you could try another ROM. There are some ROMs that are very much similar with the stock one. I am using one of its kind and it's working fine. Very much similar to the stock ROM.
