HTC ONE X dont get OTA With S-OFF and supercid - HTC One X

like the title said I just moved back to my stock nandroid backup (3.20.401.1) to use my waranty because crackling speakers I know there's now software version 3.20.401.3 I flashed stock recovery and everything and im now relocked bootloader and unrooted why when I use search for updates it can't find any ? what am I doin wrong ? does S-OFF with supercid device dont get ota's ?
thanks in advance

If you have super ID and S-OFF device, you can flash any firmware update AFAIK!
However, wait for others to reply!! No idea about OTA though... hmmm

thats really anoying to flash all the time ota zip (firmware.zip) to update my phone my ota worked before I moved to custom rom I was on 3.18 and got ota to 3.20 now it cannot find the 3.20.401.3 update how come ??
hope it can be fixed...
any ideas ? =(

I think ota updates are send by imei number, you will not recieve ota if you have custom roms. anyway the update contains no firmware upgrade so its practically useless.

So how everyone get the update and me not im all stock just bootloader is relocked and dont locked

Ask HTC
Just flash the latest firmware m8! But why do you want latest firmware? There are lot of posts which say wifi has become worse with the update...
Nwys it's your device, your choice! :good:

The last ota is not really a firmware update, it's more only a software update. Download the ota and flash it over the stock rom with a custom recovery.....done
It doesn't contain a new recovery, kernel or hboot upgrade, therefore its installable from a custom recovery.

everything is stock for me recovery boot.img only Im s-off and supercid 1111111
thats weird because I got ota before I moved to custom rom etc from 3.18 to 3.20
maybe use ruu ?
it keep saying that my phone is up to date and there are no updates available for my phone and there are I know this !!! XD

could be a few reasons. Firstly if you have a branded phone then you won't get the ota until your carrier decides to release it. However as this ota isn't important they may not decide to release it. If you've got an unbranded device then you get it when HTC releases it for your cid so maybe they haven't released it for your cid yet. Be patient, the update has only very recently been released. It takes time for them to push it to every phone
EDIT: Just found this post. It says you can't recieve ota updates with super cid???

OMG! Since you've got your One X, all you are doing is complain complain complain I have seen many posts/topics started by you...
Please read the forum, you will get your answers. For getting the OTA, you only need stock ROM + Stock recovery, that's it! It doesn't matter whether your bootloader is locked or relocked.
There is no RUU available for 3.20 base! It keeps saying your phone is upto date because the update might not have rolled out for your region?!!
There is nothing new in the .3 update! Only minor software update! If you really want that update then lol here's the way:
1. Unlock bootloader.
2. Flash custom recovery
3. Flash the OTA (Download from the ota thread)
4. Reboot!

is there a way that htc won't release it for supercids ? or maybe it has been dont released yet ?
and I heard that I can downgrade software version because im s-off thats mean I can for example use ruu 3.18

There is no 3.18 ruu. Only the 3.14. And yes you can usr it.

Questions Questions Questions questions questions!
You have an S-Off Hox you're one of the very few people who does! Stop complaining about every little problem.
No offence but I've seen you posting for every little problem on Dev threads and it shouldn't be allowed as some are bordering on ridiculous! 99% of your questions have already been answered elsewhere!
Just think yourself very lucky that you have an S-Off Hox as most people don't.
You do realise it's easier to brick a phone with S-Off? Once you've done that you're screwed so be careful with what you're doing and I suggest you read up on things a LOT more or you'll end up ruining your phone!

HOW THE HELL DO YOU HAVE Super CID AND S-OFF ON A HTC ONE X !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Is far as I know it is impossible to have s-off on the Tegra HTC ONE X UNLESS someone at HTC does it for you.

Dude relax
Some phones just come as s-off out of the factory, or are s-off after repair.

Why would they come with S-OFF ?
That's kind of not fair, and how do the S-FF it when repairing, any way for us on S-ON to gain S-OFF that way ?

I don't know the exact details but basically HTC repair centres have the right tools to S-Off a phone. Unfortunately these aren't made available to the public. Each repairer is issued one of these tools with a unique code/id so they can't be leaked out. Otherwise the person leaking them would easily be known and it's bye bye job. That's why it's so difficult to get S-Off and the Hox probably never will get it now.

Yeah don't stress. I paid an extra 50 quid over the going rate to get an soff one and other than being easier to restore nandroids and not having to wait around for a jb ota I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. So lets say I've restored 50 nandroids its cost me 1 pound each time to save a few mins laptop faffing, maybe not worth it

I have CID: VODAP304 and I know that Vodafones has released the last update for the HOX, but I tried several ways to try updating and nothing, the update doesn`t appear, it says that my phone has the latest software version.
I have the phone completily stock.

I alredy know what is the problem, a few days before I was reading the steps to root the phone, and I did them, but I'm sure that I stop in the screen that says "you are going to unlock the bootloader......YES/NO" that I restart the phone choosing the NO option. But what is my surprise yesterday trying to solve the update to jb problem that checking the HBOOT version I see "UNLOCKED" ¿?¿?¿ How is it possible???
I'm reading now that having the bootloader open it's not a problem for update to jb while the recovery is stock.
I "RELOCKED" the HBOOT and the update doesn't appear yet, when in Spain with my CID everyone has updated to JB.
Any suggestions?¿
THANKS!

Yes but not rooted, just unlocked the bootloader, but know I have it relocked again. And all of the things are in stock too. How is it possible that I can't receive the OTA, even knowing some cases that having rooted and unlocked the bootloader they recive the OTA obviously they can't install it but they recive the message at least.
the point is.. you've unlocked your phone, so you've annuled the warranty.
now you can root it and update your phone with the alternative method, the warranty is not valid even if you don't root the phone, HTC watches just the "RELOCKED" word.

Can you show me the thread on how to do it that way? But first, you know why I can't receive the OTA??
Actually I can't find the topic where is explained how do it...
you can look for "vodafone unofficial jelly bean" or something like that
Branded devices must wait ages before official updates, maybe in your area the update will come later.

well if you are on 4.4.2 and want to flash a 4.4.3 rom, you need to flash new firmware or else some things will break, like wifi and BT I believe. In order for you to flash new firmware you have to change the SCID or else it will error out.
1. change SCID
2.flash firmware
3.flash rom
So if you stay s on you can only flash 4.4.2 or aosp roms is that correct
I have never had a device with a off capability I'm just trying to get my head round it all I wouldn't know which firmware to flash I have a UK o2 carrier locked/branded device any advise is truly appreciated
Basically I'm having issues with adb on my laptop so Forrester is out if the question and atm I can't use sunshine as I can't afford it as I've spent all my money on my m8 lol

Well in that case you can only flash 4.4.2 roms. Or you can flash 4.4.3 but you will suffer from slow boot times and maybe broken wifi or BT
Wouldn't a custom kernel fix that issue just curious
Ah custom kernel will not solve it at this moment. The kernels have changed from 4.2.2 to 4.4.3....they don't match.
There is a way to flash the new firmware on a s-on device, there is a topic about this somewhere. Not sure what criteria the phone has to meet up with tho....like official main version number.....
But the official 4.4.3 is rolling out as we speak so it doesn't take long before you can flash a 4.4.3. But the basic answer still stands.....no you do not need s-off for flashing roms. And im fine btw thank you

Need some help with my M8 after flashing ROM

SO, let me start off by mentioning that I am not a noob, but I JUST got this HTC M8 ( moved from M7 ) , I unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery and rooted it, but I am having a problem every time I flash a custom ROM.... Any time after installing a custom ROM , the boot time on the phone becomes RIDICULOUS, I mean 5-10 mins EVERY time, not just initial boot ... The phone sits at the " this builld is for developers only blah blah blah" warning with the HTC logo in the back for a solid 5 mins usually, then the screen will turn off, and when I turn it on, it will be fine, but while it's in that state ( "loading?" ) if I receive a text message, I will still get both haptic and audio feedback, any ideas? I was trying to flash ARHD!
FLASHING STOCK ROM GETS RID OF THIS! ( but I want a custom ROM )
What custom rom and did you update your firmware already ?
I had the same issue. It's the firmware mismatch. The ROM is built on a different firmware than the one you are currently on.
Most of the time flashing the correct firmware will require S-off... (Sunshine was the only one that worked for me)
I've never run into this before on other phones or ROMs so it was definitely a learning experience for me.

ROM is Android Revolution HD and, no, I haven't updated my firmware yet. Is there a way to do it without S-OFF? Firewater doesn't work, and I realllllly can't afford to pay $25 for software to do it for me, after all , as a programmer, I know it's probably one line of code that changes it from firewater lol, in the end, they need to do the exact same thing, it's not like there's many different ways to achieve S-OFF, they all essentially follow the same process. Someone is just being greedy ( they probably designed SunShine for themselves, then thought " heyyyyyy profit", not cool in my books )

Thanks for the help, managed to find a way around!
I didn't S-OFF yet, but I reverted to stock, and did the 4.4.3 OTA which bumped my FIrmware version past the ARHD 10.2 version, and now it works flawlessly!
Yeah, it's firmware, I also had this issue until i fixed it few days ago. I'm s-on (can't go s-off) and I've made it to upgrade my firmware to the newest one.
I just downgraded to 1.54.401.10 (or something similar) and then did official OTA. Now I don't have problems with signal, wifi or long boot times.

Need help updating phone... H3G User.

Because i am rooted it says it cant check for updates, can anyone tell me what i can do?
I thought about restoring the original software RUU and then updating, but what if my service provider hasnt released the update, unless their is another H3G M9 user on the forum who can tell me different.

Your best bet is to S-OFF, then Super CID. After you have done that just restore the newest WWE RUU. That way you're on the latest version and can continue to receive any new updates a lot sooner - none of that waiting for the network to release the update. Especially with marshmallow round the corner.

Other than the way you stated not really. If you don't want to go S-OFF then you'll need to restore stock and update, then root again.
Hey there buddy.
What the chance you backed up your stock H3G recovery.
I flashed TWRP and forgot to take a backup, now can't flash the update.
I posted in this forum asking in anyone had the UK H3G stock recovery but no answers.

HTC 10 Bell

Hi guys, I got the HTC 10 bell variant at a good price and since is my back up phone I'm trying to put it to the test to change it from bell variant to the US variant, I was reading a lot of threads but im confused, , I unlocked the bootloader, I instaled the twrp, now how do i change the CID ??mine shows 666, and I want to change it to 617 , do I have to have S-OFF?? or I can do that with S-ON since the Bootloader is unlocked , will I get the OTA updates for the 617 after i change it?? (btw i dont want to chage it to 401 international because im afraid i will loose the band 4 LTE )
I'm with bell and changed to us unlocked. There might be a way to do it without s-off like maybe super cid. But to install ruu.exe you need s-off. You will get ota but to apply all you need is to reinstall stock recovery.
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
You can't change your CID and flash the Unlocked version without S-OFF.
Thanks guys for your replays ,btw nitramus can u pls add a step by step how I did it??I'm new with the HTC
Since you're at the cid part just look for the thread for changing cid and flash ruu. And look at the thread with all the backups for all the versions or stock rom. You will have all you need, latest available rom with ota. To prevent any problems as soon as your phone is ready to use after ruu and you logged in to you account apply ota right away, then flash supersu and have fun.

Yes to convert your phone to U.S Unlocked you'd have to S-off to be able to change your CID. You gotta pony up the 25 USD, which is worth it in my opinion if you're gonna use the 10 as your main phone and tinker with it for a year or two.
Basically follow the steps from this guide, and when it comes to flashing an RUU use the Unlocked one you can download directly from HTC.com
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-how-to-drand-convert-htc-10-to-t3374593
BTW it's very fitting that Bell's CID is 666

OK did that so I have S-off, I changed the CID on the cmd , and than I flashed with RUU_PERFUME_WL_M60_SENSE80GP_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.53.617.5 than update to the latest ones that they pop up to update, nice Thank you ,btw if i want to change S-on will impact the updates or should i keep it S-off??
Personally I don't bother to change back but if security is important for you then maybe. Later depending if you want to change things again depending on what you do you might still need s-off.

If you are rooted and/or have a custom recovery, you can't use the official OTAs. You'll need the stock and never rooted ROM (it has to have an unmodified system partition), and also the stock recovery to flash it.
The easiest (and often quicker way than waiting for an official OTA) is to just flash a firmware.zip package in either fastboot or by the rename/SD card method.
I recommend the ones on this thread. You can find both Full Stock .zips there, that will wipe your phone (because they contain the boot.img), and No-Wipe .zips that won't wipe your phone (obviously) as they have the boot.img (kernel and ramdisk) removed, and also contain the latest TWRP recovery versions instead of the stock recovery.

To add regarding future OTA updates, if you want them directly from HTC you'll also have to remove SuperCID, if you have it. Just having a stock/unmodified system and recovery isn't enough.
And I agree, just keep S-off unless you're making a warranty claim.
