[Q] Desire stock rom - how to turn display on with trackball button ... - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I tried many many roms, finally I installed the original one. I found one which is rooted and have a2sd. So it is 2.3.3 and the camera work like a charm. Wifi hotspot also ...
I want to turn on the display with trackball key or other hardware keys at the bottom of the device. How can I achieve this?

Install cyanogenmod, it has an option in the cm menu for this

What rom do you have in mind? cm7.2 or other based on it?
I tried cm 7.2 in the past when it came out. Probably I have its backup somewhere in my sdcard.
I really want to try the stock image right now....

[Q] Anybody else feel that the optical trackball is like the male navel?

It just sits there. Seems to be a vestigial organ. Any way I can make it useful? Like using it to wake up the phone like in the iphone? Or like a full menu options button like the "B" thing in a blackberry? Any mods that people might recommend? There have got to be other uses for this button than just using it in the ClockworkMod Recovery boots?
Any suggestions where I could find these mods? I know the trackball to wake mod is there somewhere but I cant seem to find it.
yes trackpad can wake phone.

Go into Rom Manager > Download Rom > Ihtfp69 > Goodies for 2.2+ > Download > You can pick just the Optical Joystick wake and apply it to your phone. Backup to be safe, you don't need to wipe to install, just make sure you backup.
Thanks guys!
Can this be applied on any ROM or only on SkyRaider ?

ihtfp69's solution works for me on virtuous. I can confirm that. Sometimes it takes a click extra on the trackball to wake it up though.

It should work on any sense rom, i'm not sure about vanilla roms though. I'm not 100% sure about this so if you are going to try it be sure to make a nandroid backup first.

[ROM] CM 7 for BRAVO (No modifications) Camcorder working!

CM7 for BRAVO (No modifications)!!
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HKY4OVEI
Try it and post any issues or problem!!
Well all this is thanks to rdannar, I just take his lastest CM7 rom (CM7 V5) and changed everything back to stock, accelerometer and backlight buttons are working also.
No action snap is installed, to install Fast burst Camera (zoom and autofocus) go to this thread to download it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272161
I used 2nd init defy and remember to follow the next (always used) steps:
1) copy the rom to your sdcard
2) boot into 2nd init defy -> recovery -> stable recovery
3) wipe data/factory reset
4) wipe cache partition
5) advance -> wipe dalvik cache
6) install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard
7) reboot
To take photos use Fast Burst Camera.
Do not use Defy Baseband Switcher if your 3G is working!!
I'm liking it so far!
Is there any way future ones (at least once you get to "production" runs) could NOT include the old swype? Sort of a pain to remove it to install Swype beta...
great rom! at the moment after two days of use I have not found still no defect. (before I used the rom v2 of rdannar). thanks

Nice, I think everybody should help so we get camera working.
Thats the only issue we have to work with.
Defy developers do the rest!!
STUCK!
Ok I got the camera to preview and it clicks if i use the settings that match the stock Bravo but all it saves as a file is a black screen. Can somebody please give me the stock 2.2.1 sbf file decompiled and changed to a .zip or something.
For something at least I have fast burst camera up and working. Now that I think, I need to get source codes. All of the codes for 2.2.1 camera for bravo, and the codes that are in the gingerbread CM7 rom.

Thanks! But I'll have to unzip it and see what it all is. I'm not caring about deodexed files I just want something that I can look at on my computer just like the CM7 mods that are zipped and archived. Easier to look at for hours.
Umm, all it gave me was a file called external.tar. What do I do with it? took me two hours to download.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
Ok this is what i'm looking for. Froyo 2.2.1 for the bravo, not in .sbf but in the way it would be if we were using it like the CM7 rom. Opened and in the order just like I can see it on my phone with Super Manager in File Explorer rooted mode. And need to know if some of us want CM7 WITH or WITHOUT BLUR.
I'll just see if I can make two versions. One with and one without so no fighting. But i will need testers.

But I think bravox rom is like that. What do you exactly mean?
------------------------------------------------------------------
About external.tar, I havent worked with that before, no codes for me by now, I have just changed files and zipped roms.
Im here to try, my two bravos are fine to test everything.
For me it doesnt matter about having blur or not, but I prefer GINGERBLUR , anyway we need a fully working gingerbread rom. (everthing will come after it)
What I need.
Ok. I need to have the regular 2.2.1 for the bravo in the exact same way as if we downloaded the CM7 rom that is 2.3.4. The regular 2.2.1 that I have now is just the .sbf file for use with RSD Light just in case I really screw up my phone. Just like windows restore............ Anywho i'm working on right now building the stock 2.2.1 bravo file system by using a stock factory bravo and copying all of the root files onto the SD card to put them on my computer. I'll be going through all of the crap and looking at the CM7 roms to find out what is diffrent. I need somebody who can zip the stuff so it can be loaded with 2ndint. This will then allow me to put this newish rom into beta. Or if someone can find or give me the program that zips everything for 2ndint to use. I will attach sometime what I pulled off of my Bravo for a better understanding of what I want.

I'm a bit confused- that doesn't look as if you flashed Kwbr ROM...? The .exe files definitely aren't for flashing. What guide(s)/tutorial(s) did you use?
An ruu will give you a completely stock phone and in 9/10 cases will fix all software faults, if your still experiencing touchscreen problems after running an ruu then it could be a hardware fault and you may need a new digitiser.

[Q] Unresponsive screen after flashing ROM/Kernel

Hello All,
First time post and as an offering, I will say 'thanks' to anyone that responds in a positive manner to my post (trying to win some friends)
Here's my issue, I have an Arc S LT18i.
Unlocked bootloader and rooted.
Whenever I flash anything custom the touch screen fails to respond, i've flashed LupusV7, slim bean 3.1 and 3.2 (with arc fusion 3.6 and 4.5) and Super Jelly Bean. All seemingly start without any issues and the physical buttons work no problem. BUT the screen refuses to work in anyway at all!!
I have made sure I wiped the system, cache and delvak (sp?)
Any help greatly appreciated, I am a NOOB but underneath it all I'm just trying to make the most of this wonderful Arc S...
Anything you want to know, please ask away...
Please help.
Namaste
Ricky:fingers-crossed:

Hello and thank you for the reply...
I flashed stock ICS .587 (world india) from this site talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239
Does that count as stock ICS .587?
And then followed the rest of the instructions, the exact same thing happens... buttons work but the touch screen does not!?
Any other ideas please? Or does anyone else have a suggestion?
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to me.

Hello, thanks for the reply...
According to the Slim Bean page, I can use ANY kernel with that rom. But also, if I just have the Lupusv7 Kernel on there, the touch screen doesn't work within that, so not a ROM/Kernel conflict I belive.
I've also tried other Kernel/ROM combinations, same thing keeps on happening. Touchscreen works 100% with a SE restore, stock ROM.
Any other ideas please??

It's best to use the recommended kernel as stated on the ROM thread. Try another kernel and see how things go.

Hello,
As previously mentioned, the reccomended kernel is Lupusv7, When i flash this Kernel into recovery mode, all looks well but as it has a touch screen interface this still doesn't work!
I'm presuming that it cannot be a conflict as it's happen before I instll the new ROM etc... the touch screen doesn't even work within the GUI of the Lupusv7 kernel.
I can get multiple ROMS to load with different kernels but so far, none have booted with the touch screen working!!
I am very much a noob but have read loads of articles on how this should be done, unless i'm missing something very obvious which isn't stated then I dont see anyone else having this issue.
Any clues people? :good:
Thanks, Ricky

Hello Someguyfromhell,
I haven't used AROMA, the guides i've been reading haven't mentioned this!?
This is the process I went through:
flashed stock ICS ROM
flashed kernel
wipe data/cache/davlik
flashed rom
rebooted, ROM loads up and the touch screen doesn't work.
Any help you can give me on AROMA, links etc?
I'm looking right now, but a 'leg up' would be great.
Thanks for the reply.
Ricky
here what to do
- Make sure you had installed Official 4.0.4 ftf pack
- When flashing official ftf pack remember to exclude / tick these things:
1. simlock.ta (Exclude TA)
2. Kernel.sin (Exclude kernel)
3. FOTA (Exclude FOTA)
After flash successful, power on your phone and let it start completely
- Now you can start to install any ROM
1.Flash the Recommended Kernel: Vengeance , KTG Anzu , RUSH
2. Place ROM on SD card
3. Power off the phone and boot into CWM
3. Backup and restore > choose Backup
4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. Mounts and storage > Format /system
6. Advanced > Wipe battery stats
7. Install zip from SD card > Choose the rom
8. if rom uses aroma Follow on screen instructions on AROMA, remember to choose "Unlocked bootloader" and also the correct kernel modules and of course the correct phone model
9. After complete installation tick "Reboot" and let the phone restart
10. Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy ur phone !

Then did you install the device-specific patch?
ok man, you've got the same problem like me
First thing, all roms that make your touch screen doesn't work will based on cm (e.g. cm10, slim, any jb).
and ALL STOCK roms will get no problem.
There's lot of people here got this problem and still has no clue why this problem occure to ours, so sad story.
Someone says that the touch screen firmware sould be updated to the lastest version, but i don't know how.
One solution that i found is, remove the battery to turn off then turn it on to reboot again and again. If you lucky enough, the touch screen will work like a miracle!
and the success rate is also <50% ( based on my experience only)

on all the ROM guides, I have never seen a part where it says i should install a device specific patch, do you have a link to where these may be?
Or even a ROM with guide where it says this? I'm very happy to follow that to get this working. I have no preference to CM10, Slim Bean, Racing Bean etc... as of yet i've not been able to use any of them.
Thanks for the continued response.

This solution is the one that i think it can move some files which related to touch screen.

But sorry, it still get sometimes for the touch screen didn't response :crying:
However, as i mentioned above; you can get ALL jb rom working :fingers-crossed:
But depends on your luck. Just turn it off when the touch screen didn't response, then turn it on again (and again) untill it work.
I hoped that the new linux kernel will solve this...

I have same issue have tried many stock based roms and kernels no problem but any CM based rom I have no touchscreen.
You can reboot and about 1 in 5 times it will work
Maybe it only affects certain versions of the phone. I even tried re-locking bootloader and doing official sony update then tried CM again I tried 7.1,9 and 10
same problem.
Here's where I am...
UPDATE:
So, here is where I am. Using advice from previous replies I have managed to install Xperia Ultimate HD and this is working off of the Lupus kernel without any issues. I'm still unable to get ANY Jelly Bean roms working...

[Q&A] CyanogenMod 11.0 for HTC MSM7x27 devices

Feel free to discuss non-development-related topics here or ask any questions.
Creating an almost functional build of CM11 for the Buzz would be really tough isn't it?? I say this mainly because it does not have a GPU
Probably... I doubt it will ever be as "usable" as Kitkat on the HTC Wildfire S or Salsa....

Well I am guessing that he most likely would need a logcat to start with. You can get this by connecting your wfs to you PC and runing:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
Or you can install CatLog and app from the play store to get the logcat.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Just did that and now, I have the welcome menu problem. Maybe its because of int2ext4+ ?
I will just try to wipe everything and reflash it maybe it will fix the problem.

Don't know if it works. But this has a nice UI and good performance.
Would just like to point out that the "Initial SetupWizard Bug" only appears to be on Kitkat roms based on CM11(currently only 2)............. I'm able to go through the setup process on both Omni and Aospa

I believe the problem is with CMSetup. I am looking into it now.
That's unfortunately another issue with the proprietary GAPPs on our old devices we can't do much about.
EDIT: Strange it works in other ROMs lol.

Hi,
I've just installed the latest CM11 Version on my WFS. Everything works properly, but now i'm facing old problems: the internal storage is too little.
It's the first time i rooted a phone and I haven't yet installed Data2SD on it before, but I'd like to install Data2SD. So far I've tried to install Data2InstallerNXE2 and OnDemandSingleCoreZip. But none of these two worked. I got a "Failure" notification.
I tried it the following way:
-1st: partitionated the SD-Card with Minitool Partition Wizard: 8GB; now: EXT2: 1,5GB.
-then wiped everything
-installed CM 11
-booted
-tried to install Data2SD -> "Failure"
-because it didn't work I already installed the GAPPS.
As I said, the system works fine..but I've only some MB's left of storage... Did I do something wrong or were the versions I tried not the correct ones? Is there a possibility to increase the internal storage of the WFS? Which is it and how does it work?
Thanks for any help!

Well if you just want to link apps to 2nd partition of sdcard, you can try link2sd . Unlike the other scripts, it always work for me.
