We love it and are grateful regardless of where it got posted.

I feel if a rom is just getting compiled from source from sync'd repos.. its not original development.
if you are creating patches and adding your own code... its original development.

As a user who is constantly switching between AOSP and stock-based roms on whatever phone I happen to be using, it would be super convenient if more XDA forums just got rid of the distinction entirely and put all roms for a given device together in the same location. I can see why devs might prefer the current setup though.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium

I have always thought that if you create a 'type' of ROM from the ground up, that is original development. Just the act of syncing and compiling doesn't make it original, even if it is to the recipients. I sync, compile and add and subtract things to my builds, but they were still originally created by another. Just my penny and a half.....

Compiling ROM now coming soon

Development and "original" development subsections

What's the difference between these two? I see the subsections in only some device forums, but I really can't tell why there's two.
Original development is for source based work like aosp CM & AOKP. Kernels are also source based. TW based, Ports & borrowed work go in the regular Dev section.
Original development is for other projects as well, not just AOSP based stuff. Kernels, Toolkits and more.

Because while they're ports its still source based. At least that's what I think the logic is behind it. Just source for the international note.

At the moment, there's no 4.2
The only 4.2 option is CM 10.1 right now. I doubt we will see 4.2 officially until some time after the S IV is released with 4.2
Try one of the cm based builds. I've been on the slimbean Rom for about a week and its absolutely fantastic. Great interface tweaks and great battery life. I haven't had any issues with it at all. Faux kernel is what I've been running with.

I think you'll only need to wait for another couple months. With the S4 being launched today, you'll likely see the code released as an update for the older devices.
The only real question is if the premium suite will be included and if so, will it include some of the new S4 features?

LiquidSmooth seams interesting. I'll try and get a forum mod to add it to the poll.
As a side note, I'm currently working with the ChameleonOS team to get our device on the official list.
Seems rootbox and PAC have the same features for the most part? CM + AOKP + PA?
LiquidSmooth seems interesting:laugh:
Or we need a newer version of ParanoidAndroid

[ROM][port]Paranoid Android 3.99 (4.3)

No Longer supported:
Hi again,
A quick port from the e975. Not built from source.
Original Thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339403
Kernel is dvhexer's alternate kernel. But you can definitely bring your own kernel.
This build is JLS, so careful when flashing kernels.
Now, since this is a port, I cannot change the source, That means I can't debug it. I can, but only up to a point. (user-debug only).
When the original thread updates, if someone wants it, I'll update the port. At one point, if it becomes real good, I might build from source. Or not.
Enjoy!!

Code:
use PA original gapps. from goo.im.
Or use mine from aosp. Tested both, they work.

This needs the NFC FIX for canadian phones.

Well, it's working ok for me.
Got bugs, but they are already mentioned in the original thread.... Can't do anything about that. But yeah, it's pretty nice.
So just curious, the port thread you referenced is for porting ROM's to the E970. What did you do different to port it to the E973?
No real issues so far.. Missing APN.. Device still says e975. Great battery life and stability.

It's been a while. Unsure, but I think nothing. I haven't updated it, Houst0on baked one in the att forum and it works well. It's more up to date. You'll need the nfc fix found here though.

To ALL DEVS and Porter

Hey guys,
i have a request to you. Is someone able to tell me how to port Roms to LG G2 D802 ?
Or do you know some good tutorials about that subject ?
In some days there will be a Rom named BAM ROM. In the past it was called JELLYBAM and i have it on my i9100. And it was one of the best Roms I've ever had. It very similar to PAC-MAN Rom. It's based on CM10/11 now. The new release will be based on CM11/Kitkat 4.4.2.
So i've looked at the supported device list and I've only found the LG G2 D800 Model. But i have a D802. So as you can guess the most hard parts a done by the Bam Team.
Now i Would like to know how to make a d800 rom working with d802 .

here the fan/info page -> https://www.facebook.com/BAMRom

I don't think XDA will allow anything from that group to be posted. They've been banned for kanging I think.

Yes. Xda has banned them because they keep their sources private.
