How to Longpress - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe stupid question, but I searched these forums and couldn't find an answer. Is there any way to send a longpress using the controller?

Not sure what you mean, but holding the O button when something is "blue " does the trick for me.

yes holding the O button down works in most cases but there's no solution for dragging icons, or dragging anything for that matter. The touchpad doesn't have long click. I installed apex launcher and I can't move the shortcuts. I would love some kind of touchpad app I can run on my phone, like I do with my pc. A touchpad server on the ouya and an app as touchpad client on my phone.

A Bluetooth mouse would would work. An app that simulated a Bluetooth mouse would also work. I don't know of any off the top of my head

doesn't otg work? I haven't tried connecting a mouse yet. But a phone touchpad app is more convenient from the bed. With XBMC i can use yatse on my phone and that is perfect. It might work with MirrorOp but then I need to root the Ouya. I don't even know if that is possible yet, haven't read up.

There's a full size USB port that serves as host port (i.e. you can plug in a wireless mouse). The Ouya is rooted. There's another thread that lists the details. I'm working right now to get a more automated one-click root/superuser install/recovery install method going.

I may know how to long press.
In Nova you can double tap and hold the second tap to move icons. This may work in all apps, I can't recall.
I just bought an active usb extension cable and hub rather than investing in bluetooth devices. I'm hoping that may allow using the hub on the couch rather than on the OUYA.

onlive gaming on nexus 7 with ps3 controller?

hello,
I know there is a patch to make any controller playable on onlive but that is for desktop onlive correct? is there a way make it so we can use a ps3 controller on onlive on our nexus 7?? Or do i have to buy there controller to use with my nexus 7? i need something until the nyko android gamepad comes out!
any info would be greatly appreciated....
ty
As a wired controller it worked out of the box with no additional apps.
My setup being OTG adapter and a standard mini usb lead to the controller
Only tested with deus ex and saints row on onlive.
To use as a wireless controller requires the sixaxis app or similar, I've had no luck with this so far although the app makes has the option to show the wireless controller as a sixaxis so it should work.. I might test that one again..
I'm when I did try i could only navigate menus. it was like the onlive didn't accept there was a controller and came up with that message (a controller is required to play this game)
Just tested and what I've said is correct.
Install this onlive app and u can use any controller with it. Onlive will recognize them as an official controller and u can play any game. Including six axis over Bluetooth. http://db.tt/nn0hUg8e

I haven't tried this wired yet (no OTG cable), but but I can't seem to get the patched Online app to work with the PS3 controller and Sixaxis app. Anyone else have any luck with this yet?

Yes, using the patched app and Sixaxis you just need to tick the 'Enable Gamepad" option to enable native gamepads.
Not really a tutorial, but proof that it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwSW1N7rtBw
That works!

Awesome, thanks! Now I just need to have a decent internet connection I guess.
Yes it works well, this is one of the first things I did with my tablet when I got it. Now I just need to figure out how the patch was done, cause unfortunately it uses the on live version before the last which had some performance improvements. Got it decompiled now I gotta dig around in smali. I'll definitely post anything if I can isolate the patch and apply to newest version.

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I install this? I have tried multiple times and it tells me that the install fails because there is a pre existing program with conflicting signatures.
Thanks in advance!!
how do you map?
So it works but the buttons are mapped in a fashion that makes is unusable - where do you properly map the buttons on the ps3 controller (don't see how within onlive)

Using Xbox 360 wireless controller receiver via USB

Has anyone been successful in getting a wireless 360 controller to work on their GNex with the wireless receiver via USB? I've seen it working on the Nexus 7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818552
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792531
However these fixes don't work when copied across to our device. It simply isn't detected either by the OS or by games/emulators. Anyone with a little more know how could explain why it isn't working? Thanks

When I did it I had to use an app called USB TO JOY or something and re-map everything.
Edit: USB/BT JoyCenter

Interesting, I did see that app mentioned but only when using the wired USB controller and not the receiver. It successfully managed to map the wireless buttons even though it doesn't navigate the homescreens etc?

Does watchON work with Xbox 360?

Does the watchON remote work with Xbox 360?
I have me TV, BluRay, and AV receiver set up just fine with the watchON universal remote, but I can seem to fina way to get it to talk to my Xbox 360. Does anybody know what the trick is to get this to work. I basically just want to have the ability to turn on my Xbox and turn it off. Anything past that isn't required for me.
Thanks.

Ya. I was hoping somebody might have found an IR code that would work to simply power on the Xbox 360, since pretty much every other universal remote on the planet can do that and more. Too bad.

should work all the time, mine does. Make sure you are pointing it at the xbox, remember it is IR, so it communicates through light.

If you go to settings you can add a device to the room and when you select media player the is an option for Microsoft which will let the app control the Xbox.

Hmm, so the options on the remote for the Xbox are a bit lacking. Basically just power and navigation (see attached), with no option for numbers or changing channels in Windows Media Center. It also still uses the "TV remote" when using the TV guide. I use a cable card and media center but looks like the app doesn't support that setup. Still nice being able to turn the Xbox on.
Also if you have the Xbox glass app you can do things like open netflix, xfinity, or HBO go. They don't really use the glass app much, but you can do some scrubbing of video and the "controller" has a few more buttons like the Xbox home button. See attached screen shots for more details.

note 3 PS3 controler

I have an UNROOTED note 3. I purchased the official Samsung OTG cable to connect my sixaxis ps3 controler to the note 3.
phone. I have sixaxis checked under language and input.I hit the ps3 button and it just flashes for a while and turns off. The phone recognized that a usb device is connected.
You still need sixaxis app. To configure everything. With root the only difference is blue tooth versus being connected through OTG.

i do have the sixaxis app. I have the ime set to sixaxis. in the sixaxis software I have gamepad checked. Still cant get any sort of control out of it. I just ordered a new otg cable to see if that is the issue. Anyone want to spend some time and do a small right up. Every video I;ve seen show you just hook it up and it works.

Using hardware keys in games

I recently started playing Critical Strike Portable on my LG OG Pro, and I noticed it's hard to aim and shoot at the same time. My fix for this is to assign the button above the volume buttons (default is camera on PAC-ROM) as the fire key. Question is, how do I do this? I assume I'd have to unpack the APK and edit the configuration file to accept the key as fire. But I'm sure I'd have to throw some device specific mumbo jumbo in there to get it to work properly. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Use a ps3 controller over bluetooth instead, if you have that.
I don't have one, although I do have an Xbox 360, which I believe is bluetooth as well, but that kind of defeats the purpose.
I'm not exactly sure what to change it to but editing the hardware buttons is quite simple. Go to /system/usr/keylayout/gk-keypad-8064.kl and change key 250 to something else. I would assume that changing it to 1 would make it type the number 1 so you might be able to assign fire to that hardware button if the app allows it.

Sweet! I'll try it as soon as I get home! Though I'm not sure what I would assign it to, since the game uses touch commands. Is there any way I can edit the game's APK to assign the key to fire only while the game is open?

I'm no sure. Never got into modifying APKs. There IS an app called Game Keyboard (paid) that allows you to assign hardware keys to touch inputs. It's well worth the few bucks. I use it for just about every game / emulator I have as you can make your own custom layouts.
