[Q] Virgin Mobile native voicemail - so close!? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running Wambo_Bomb's CM10.1 with my Virgin Mobile $25 plan and it is simply fantastic! My question is regarding native v-mail notifications for prepaid service. I know this feature has been discussed in various forums and I have searched a great deal, but I'm still not clear as to: if this now works in currently developed ROMs and it's just not working for me, or is it limited functionality only?.
Currently I get native voicemail notifications (w/counts) at boot-up only, not in real-time (ie,, some check happens initially but does not monitor/catch the voicemail when it occurs - I do get the missed calls of course). Retrieving the VM's will not remove the notification - has to be cleared manually.
This was also the case on my GB install (latest stock) until I came across a modded Phone.apk which now gives me full native voicemail notification at each occurrence . My understanding (and indications from smali file compares) was that the mod was pretty extensive to force native voicemail over Sprint's visual voicemail.
If someone can please confirm whether a similarly modified Phone, apk would be the only solution for CM10.1, I'll make a humble developer request and then quietly count myself fortunate and accept what I've got - as I'm guessing that level of modding is way beyond my abilities.
My posts are woefully low, and yet I've gained so much from so many here with their incredible knowledge and development work.
Thanks to all of you!!

[BUG?] Sending Contacts to Voicemail Programatically

Hi,
I've developed the app Group to Voicemail for Android and have come across an interesting issue that only occurs on HTC phones:
When I programatically send a Contact to voicemail (using the SEND_TO_VOICEMAIL field for ContactsContract.Contacts), it works as expected. However, when I set that field back to '0' (to not send that Contact to voicemail anymore) the check box is unchecked for that Contact in the UI, but calls that come in still go to voicemail. The only way to actually put the change into effect is to reboot the phone (obviously not an acceptable solution for users)
Anyway, I've only seen this happen, and had reports from users that have HTC phones (Incredible and Evo). It works fine on the Motorola Droid as far as I can tell.
Based on some other tests, it seems to be directly related to SenseUI, and not the hardware itself.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Matt
I've been using your app for a while and have had the issue you are talking about. Once I rooted my phone and used a vanilla ROM the app seems to work properly, both enabling and disabling groups to voicemail. This also leads me to think this is a Sense UI problem...

[Q] Declining Call with Text using Google Voice

Hey guys,
I'd love to make use of the text response feature when someone calls me but there doesn't seem to be a Google Voice intent or option anywhere is there?
I heavily use my Google Voice number to the point I don't give out my cell phone number! I just tested ignoring a call with the text option and the text came from my cell phone number.
Has anyone figured out how to get it to use Google Voice? I have successfully configured texting from contacts/people and even voice actions because both had intents that popped up but nothing for the decline call feature.
Same issue here. Searched around, haven't been able to find an answer yet. I apologize if I missed something - Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This may be something I'm interested in for future use.

Anybody?
Sorry, just trying to bump this thread. It seems ridiculous to me that Google would release a flagship Android device that doesn't allow full integration with another major product so naturally related, Google Voice - especially considering how hard they've been pushing integration with Google+. (I'd love VOIP to be activated too, but that's another can of worms...)
Plus, this seems like a pretty simple issue since GV can be made the default for SMS quite easily elsewhere in ICS (and Gingerbread, Froyo) as the OP states. Hopefully I'm just mistaken, thanks for the help!

[Q] Is there a link to Sprint Visual Voicemail that work?

I"m rocking the Halo series II Nova on my Evo. I like it pretty much except for a few glitches here and there. I've been researching here and google too, and I must have tried four or five files. None of which fixed my vvm. Can anyone help me with this? Should I be reporting my problems with the Halo any where? I would like to try a supported ROM if anyone knows of something that can be used as a daily driver. Umm....Suggestions are welcome. lol Thanks.
You can download Sprint Visual Voicemail 5.3.0.32 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1227489&d=1343494730.

That was one of the first ones I tried. How is the AlienMod working for you?
I changed my ROM to the Bleu Mynt and installed the latest gapps and Sprint-VVM-from-E4GT-ICS-FE10. This is by far the best set up yet. I have not encountered one problem yet. Visual Voicemail works just fine.

AlienMod is stable and smooth although I do use Seeder to avoid lags that I experience occasionally with both AlienMod and Halo. Since I use Google Voice, I haven't used Sprint Voice Mail for a while though.
I was able to install the Sprint Visual Voice Mail apk, and the app appears to function normally although Google Voice receives all voice messages preventing me from confirming that new Sprint VVM receives new messages properly.

It doesn't work properly on Halo or Solar Flare.. I loved the layout, function, and apps on both of them, but I couldn't get the Sprint voicemail to work on either so I wandered away. I'm really digging the Bleu Mynt Rom. I haven't encountered one bug yet. I'm trying to figure out if I can participate in reporting problems and receiving updates. I'm not sure how or where to go about that. I can't post on the Bleu Mynt thread yet. I'm new to all this and I'm trying to learn all I can so I can develop my own ROM. I've been absorbed in this forum for a week.... Like all my free time is spent here and jacking with my phone. What other sites do you recommend for one to get educated on all things Android?

Can't get Visual VoiceMail to work ? [solved]

I searched for this and found no answer. Sorry for yet another question thread but the issues just seem to keep adding up with this phone.
I'm having trouble launching the visual voicemail. When I hit "Next" to setup the inbox, it gives me an error box with the following message "Your subscription cannot be completed at this time. Please visit my.t-mobile.com or call 611. "
Google searches suggest that I don't have it on my line - the my.t-mobile shows that both my Note III and my wife's have the feature included. Google also suggested force stopping and clearing data for the app. Did that. No difference.
I'm rooted on stock deodex with lean kernel. My wife is fully stock, no root or anything. Neither of us are able to use this damn voicemail thing.
any ideas?
All solved now...T-Mobile in their infinite wisdom had failed to initialize the voicemail boxes on either phone. So no wonder the regular or visual voicemails weren't working.

do you still have stock messaging app? VMM relies on the stock messaging app (not hangouts) to know when a new message comes in. Or, you can try Google Voice. it is a better experience, in my opinion. Note: I am on TMO, and know that Sprint is the same.
Yeah I still do. It was T-Mobile being so good at what they do they never activated the voicemail boxes on either phone when we activated the lines :silly:
Now it's all working. My wife wanted Google Voicemail but it hadn't worked for her. Probably because of this same issue.
Thanks.

Wi-Fi Calling Alternatives On AOSP Roms

Okay, so I know that Wi-Fi calling isn't a feature native to AOSP, although hopefully that changes when Lollipop gets ported/released to the G3 D851, but I am curious of the options that you all are aware of, if any, so that I can have my phone ring when people call my T-Mobile number while I am out of service range. I know I could give people my google voice number, but I don't want to confuse some of the older members of my family with two different numbers to reach me at (make that 3 if you include work). Is their anyway to forward your carrier number to google voice temporarily so that I can take calls over google voice on Wi-Fi? Any other solutions? Your insight will hopefully help me out in finding a solution. Wi-Fi calling has become very important to me, but man, I really wanna start using one of the newly developed AOSP roms that have been released in the past few days.
Get a Google voice number and set up forwarding from your tmo number to the Google voice. It will ring when called, won't be able to text and use completely normally though.
