Review of Nexus 7 bluetooth keyboard/cover w/lots of pics!!! - General Accessories

This is a review of Bluetooth keyboard/cover for Nexus 7: http://dx.com/p/ultrathin-aluminum-...yboard-for-google-nexus-7-black-silver-179344
I have reviewed a lot of accessories for smarphones and tablets, this one really stands out! When I saw the description for this keyboard, I thought to myself this is going to be just another generic keyboard with "Nexus 7" added to the name for search index. Was I in for a big surprise!!! Although you can pair it up with any phone/tablet, this keyboard is specifically designed to fit Nexus 7 like a glove!
Let me first start with a built quality - a very solid lightweight construction with a weight of about 216g (7.6 oz) and dimensions to match Nexus 7. The keyboard is relative light thanks to it's rechargeable battery (micro-usb charging port on the side) which guarantees 55 hours of uninterrupted working time as well as 60 days of standby time. Keys have a very nice springy feedback with a decent travel. The size of the keys is very comfortable for typing, although spacing in-between is a bit cramped. But I think for the amount of keys and functionality squeezed into a keyboard with Nexus 7 footprint - this is pretty good. Above the keys there is a stand-cavity to place your tablet which turns it into something that resembles netbook. When you turn this keyboard to look on the back, you will be surprised how well they matched the color, the feel, and the finish of the original Nexus 7 back. Very impressive! Even so the material is not slippery, they also added four discrete standoffs for extra grip with a surface. Once you done using they keyboard, it snaps right on the front of the Nexus 7 like a clamp shell, very secure fit.
Functionality of this keyboard is as good as it looks. Pairing up was simple, turn the power on, hit Connect button, scan from Bluetooth section of N7, and enter the code. Done! You can start navigation using arrow keys (up/down, right/left), get back to Home screen with dedicated home button, Go back with dedicated Return button, and have full multimedia control with volume up/down, and play/pause/fwd/rev buttons accessible with FN key. You even have copy/paste/cut buttons as well (with FN key).
Overall, I was VERY impressed with this keyboard, it's build quality, functionality, and seamless integration with Nexus 7 to work as a stand or a latching cover giving additional protection for N7. Oh, and the most important part - it's only $23 shipped!!! I have dealt with DX.com before, and so far has been happy with their service and support. Definitely recommending this bt keyboard as one of those must have Nexus 7 accessories.

Is this any different from the "aluminum" Bluetooth keyboard mentioned and reviewed in a few threads already in this subforum?

I guess it could be, although nothing showed up when I typed in my topic when making a post. I did some search now and see people talking about similar ones. This is obviously not a brand name keyboard so you can find it elsewhere. I'm personally done with eBay shopping because lately it has been 50/50 chance you get something working, and then seller tries negotiate with you partial refund. Like I said, I had good luck so far with dx.com, their customer support is responsive, and prices are the same or cheaper than ebay shipped.
This is a tablet my wife uses mostly, and she has been asking for keyboard case for awhile. This is just perfect because you can use your N7 like a mini laptop, and it's portable to take outside since it snaps like a cover which matches Nexus perfectly! And trust me, even so price is cheap, it doesn't have cheap quality. I don't know if all similar looking ones from other reviews are the same, can only speak for the one I received.

Have to agree with you about things from dx.com, I've always gotten good value for my money. It just seems identical to ones that I can get from Amazon for $4-5 less (with free Prime shipping) and delivery in 2 days instead of 2 weeks.

Do you have a screen protector installed? If so, how did you keep the keyboard from digging into the protector?

I do have screen protector, and I haven't noticed any marks on it where it came in contact with keyboard stand. Tablet itself is not that heavy so there is not that much of a pressure on the edge of keyboard stand. Also forgot to mention, there is obviously no way to adjust the angle of N7 placement - it just goes in one way.

Some interesting info I just got from a few people who asked me in another forum about this keyboard. Apparently there are 2 versions of it, where the early one did NOT have Tab key and NO Function key with multimedia controls. That is a big downer! So that makes me wonder if the cheaper version actually the older one with cut down functionality? Or maybe not. I can only speak for the version I got from dx.com place since it came with a latest hardware. Other stuff may or may not have Tab and FN keys.

The somewhat unknown truth of Chinese purchasing is that there is just a few or even just 1 actual manufacturer of the items so many Chinese companies offer. I'm sure what happened in this case is that the initial design which was lacking the tab key was updated to include it. I've seen what appears to be all the cases now coming with the new updated design.

Really interesting

I've have this keyboard/cover for about a month now with no issues. Love it. No screen protector either - no issues with that too.
Bought mine for $20 off eBay, I can dig up the seller if anyone is interested.
I originally had the poetic slimline but it started falling apart. I prefer this new cover/case to the poetic. It let's you keep your n7 at original thickness which feels wonderful.
Worst case, if the keyboard doesn't work on yours - gut it and use it to store cables/adapters.

It's the same thing.

Bought this also... $23 shipped is worth the gamble.
Website pics don't have the Tab and Fn keys... but the OP pics show the keys. Used the OP link, hope I get the Tab and Fn keys...

Anybody has this problem. The words on my keyboard has faded away. Zzz

OP, could you check if that´s the real link for the keyboard you bought? The pictures shown on the page don´t match yours, the one in the page seems to be the one with no tab button (ie, older model?).
Thanks!

Which keyboard did you get in the end?

Excelente. Thanks review.

For UK users, I've just ordered this one from Amazon for £13.79 delivered. I'll report on it when it arrives, but it seems to have all the features the OP's has.
Cheers,
BS...

Ordered from OP's link. Got the version with the tab key. The spacebar is a bit hard.
Also, I have a doubt: It seems the keyboard gets profile to ONE profile. If you want to use it on another profile, you seem to need to unpair then pair again?
Me and my gf share the tablet, so this is a bit cumbersome...

I have this keyboard as well, and a cheap screen protector that I got on dx.com (I don't remember which one, but it likes to attact scratches).
Several keys have now left their small mark on the protector, and some keys are starting to lose its letters (seems like the white ink isn't holding up very well). And the space bar doesn't respond that easily.
But all in all, even with its flaws the keyboard looks amazing and it's the perfect companion for the N7
Now, if some could add a pogo pin charger to the thing it would be just perfect

Review of Sixth Sense rear touch controller w/pics!!!

This is review of Sixth Sense Case with built-in rear touch controller for Note 2 from DioSystems, http://www.diosystems.com/prod_eng.html
I have reviewed a lot of different accessories for Note 2 in the past few months. This one is really hard to classify under any category except one: UNIQUE!!! Unfortunately, I still haven't received any info about where this accessory could be purchased and for how much. I have looked very closely at their website, and found no links about on-line store or distributors. Also, my contact from the company who kindly provided a review sample didn't mention this info either. Make no mistake, this is a real deal finished product in manufacturing package, not a prototype or display sample from a trade show. Also, a very polished Sixth Sense app with configuration and detailed tutorial is available for download from Google Play. Furthermore from my research, Dio Systems apparently is a company that has been around for 5 years specializing in designs of pressure sensitive input devices. I assume this is their first commercial product, although I also found YT videos with S3 Sixth Sense case.
Now, about the product. I only had a very short time playing with it and feel like I only scratched a surface of its capabilities. What it is basically a pressure controller pad with 3 additional function buttons embedded in the back of a slim plastic case that fits Galaxy Note 2. The device is connected to Note 2 through micro-usb connector (some kind of a hidden ribbon cable running in the back of the case down to the bottom under a soft material so you don't scratch the back of the phone) and recognized as auxiliary accessory. Similar to how we can plug in a mouse or a keyboard or a storage device through otg cable, although without any additional software, device is recognized after you install Sixth Sense app (sort of like it's driver). Controller gets it's power through that micro-usb connection, and I believe it draws very minimum amount including sleep management when not in use. Micro-usb port is duplicated on the case so you can still charge up your phone without taking it out. As a matter of fact there is a switch which either enables charging of the phone (path-through mode) or using controller as auxiliary device and perhaps connecting other devices (still haven't tried it yet). Case itself is made out of very sturdy PC material. It does add bulk at the bottom where you connect micro-usb connector to the phone. Also, it offers a very minimum protection since sides are exposed, and there is hardly any lip when you place it down (my tempered glass protector was thicker than edge of it's lip). I really hope Dio Systems will consider having TPU case designed to go on top of it with a cutout for touch controller/buttons. Aside from that, case feels very solid and has all the proper cutouts for speaker, s-pen, mic, headphones, etc. Absolutely no issues removing s-pen, or interferences with it. Touch pad has 4 directional arrows to easily identify it by touch, and so does 3 functional buttons with it's own symbols for easier identification. This is VERY ergonomic design, and I actually found it especially useful with FlyGrip (I attached it later) where you can have a truly one hand experience controlling the phone.
The control itself has 3 different modes, 4-way mode (pushing in direction of arrows), Gesture mode (swiping in different directions), and Mouse mode (you get an actual mouse pointer). There is a very high level of configuration where you can assign different modes for different application depending on which mode is more convenient to use. I took snap shots of tutorial screen so you can get a better idea about it. The possibilities are limitless, and after a short time using Sixth Sense - it becomes addictive. Also, as I mentioned before with a proper attachment to the case for a better handling of it in your hand - you don't feel any fatigue using it that way. Holding it by itself may be a little slippery after awhile, thus a need for external TPU case/skin.
In summary, I think its a VERY unique accessory for Note 2. As a matter of fact, it's so unique - almost like a novelty item! Some might argue why do you need it when you can use your other hand to touch the screen and perform the same actions. Well, I think it accomplishes one very important task which is the ability to control your phone and to enjoy full real estate of 5.5" screen without your fingers getting in the way Is this something I would leave permanently on my phone - probably not. But I can easily see myself using it as a game controller, or while reading books or watching videos at home where I have less chance of dropping it I wish I would have more info about where this could be ordered, but hopefully I will update my post as this will become available to me. Also, in addition to my pictures, I'm also posting below YT video links from DioSystems which demonstrates in all glory detailed functionality and use of this brilliant controller!!! Also want to mention that package included a very detailed instruction folded-booklet (in English).

Not sure what you mean cause review is up above I was thinking about making a short video, but after seeing all those pro videos with back mirrors done by Dios already, I figured I will leave it up to professionals. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Btw, inside of the case there is a label with dimensions and weight; I took a close up of it.
Also, I just sent a link to this review to DioSystems and ask them again if they can let us know about availability and pricing. It would be a shame if this not going to see a light of the day. Btw, I came across yesterday either a video or a site (in German? maybe?) where they took apart this controller to analyze it. Forgot to bookmark it and can't find it anymore. If anybody comes across it, please post a link here. Btw, I left a second post as place holder for any additional video links, pictures, other info. Just don't want to clutter original post with updates.

Oddly enough, from the mobile version of XDA I couldn't see your review. From my desktop it shows up fine. Weird.
Anyway, have you tried any landscape mode games?

Indeed strange, maybe it was taking too long to load all the pictures or something?
I actually don't have too many games on my N2, keeping it lean since I use it for work a lot. But planning to install some soon. My kids play temple run all the time, so will have to install that one. I'm pretty sure it will work with either portrait or landscape mode games.
Dio System got back to me that a price should be around $40-$45 and they are still working on distribution channels.
Personally, I would prefer for this to have stand alone option of enclosed touch-pad with buttons inside some slim self-adhesive case (use a good self adhesion like Bunker Ring stuff), and have shielded ribbon cable attaching to the micro-usb port externally. This way you can use it with most of the phones and different cases. That would have been cool!!!
awesome

Thanks for this; it does look interesting. It looks as though it could be used with the Samsung flip cover attached.to the Note 2.

this is my favorite case from the original nexus 7, i cannot recommend it highly enough and at $5.97 it is an absolute steal, the case is $0.99 and $4.98 shipping, grab one while they are this cheap, you will not regret it, look and feel like a much more premium case

Edit 8/14/2013 *update*
Received the case today and it has all the cutouts where they are meant to be, its just like a slimmer version of the original Moko case, good quality case, especially for the $5.97 it cost with shipping, by far the best case you can buy, i finish work in 5 hours and i will add more pictures with the actual N7 FHD in the case
Edit *Photos added with N7*
As you can see all cut outs are in the correct places, access is there to everything, i work in construction and this case has been with me everywhere today, and its been great, looks really smart, feels nice and soft, the nexus locks into place really secure, i honestly dont know how they can make this at the price and make money

angry english,
Thanks for the post! I actually had the same Moko case for my "old" (2012) Nexus, and was hoping they would make a new case for the new N7 soon. I've seen in Amazon and looked around, and one Q&A said that the new case did not have a hole in the back for the camera?? Is this correct? No hole??
Just curious...I wonder why they would make the new case without making a cutout for the camera in the back (as well as cutouts for the new speakers at the bottom).
Let me know please.
Thanks!
I don't know if anyone has this case yet since it hasn't shipped.
I have a blurex case for another tablet so I can only guess that there might be an issue with the Nexus 7 2013 camera being so close to the corner. Cutting a hole for it might be an issue for the strength of the corner hold.
That is just a guess though, as I haven't seen what you are reading that this case is missing a hole for the camera.
If you could point that post out, it would be appreciated.
BTW earlier today, they had the case on sale for $0.01 + $4.98 shipping (total $4.99 vs $5.97). Clearly not a big deal, just pointing out prices can change at any point up or down (they had it at $3.99 a few days ago)
I'm not sure bud, it does say all function usable, guess I'll find out when it ships, but I'm not to bothered if it is covered, I love the case, I went through quite a few before I got to the moko, never looked back since

I saw this too this morning and ordered a .99c black one and a 2.99 orange one. The images on the amazon page shows a hole for the camera but I'm not worried about the camera anyways. I've used it and its not a very good camera. I'll use my S3 for the rare photo I take not using my DSLR.
How does this one compare to the poetic slimline? I have that on my of N7 right now and have no issues. Already ordered poetic one for 2nd gen but thought I'd ask about this one.

I saw an image with the camera in the center on the back - but that is not a Nexus 7 & camera. The camera is not in the center of the new Nexus 7. Did you see an image with the camera in the back corner of the device? Can you post a link?
I have two of these cases for my 1st generation Nexus 7s. They were superior because I can use them with the dock and they don't cover the microphone on either the wi-fi nor 3g models. But, the original Moko were a problem with magnet location, etc. So, until someone proves the camera hole is in correct position for new Nexus 7 (2013) I will NOT believe it. LOL
Whoever gets one please report results. Thanks.

I`ve just messaged the seller to see what they say, and seeing as it said "Designed specifically for Google Nexus 2 7.0 Inch Android Tablet by ASUS. Access to all features and controls" i dont see why it wouldn't.... also the magnet issue was fixed very early on in the original moko case, they replaced mine for free with a new one, i got that one in September last year and its been 100%
I bought them ALL ...
I was just looking at the poetic slimline on amazon for $5.95 and it has detailed pictures with all the cut outs and I think it will BE the ONE I use most. Maybe I will have to buy a few more Nexus 7 's (2013)

I went ahead and bought all three in black.

Links are funny on amazon for items with multiple options. But, I found the image you identified and it looks great. I ordered one of these for my Nexus 7 (2013).
One possible problem because I have a QI charger so I'm not sure if it works through any case. Yet having a case will protect my tablet from damage.

Mine shipped on the 11th, could be here tomorrow, I'll take plenty of pics, can't believe its $7.99 now lol people missed out on what I would say was the best case I had for my 2012 N7 for under $6 shipped

Yes, the stand is adjustable too, but it may not charge the tablet if the angle is too great between the pad and tablet. It does charge with a bit of a gap, but nothing too great.
This is the one i bought. Prime shipping

The stand does work with the tablet in landscape. You'll have mount the charging pad a bit lower than the way I have it though. That's the beauty of the Velcro
Sent from my Nexus 7
Great find, OP! I might just have to pick this up. The velcro was a simple, yet genius addition. If I spring on this, I'll post back here and give some feedback.
On a related thought: anyone know of a stand that would be good to use with my Nexus 4? Possibly with the Nexus charging orb instead of the DT-900?
EDIT:
Just wanted to report back after I bought and used this combo. So far, so good. Charges perfectly well with my Nexus 7 flo when I set it on there. There is the gap that everyone sees in those pictures, but doesn't affect the charging at all. I use it daily when at home to charge my tablet. I like to put daydream on and use it as a clock when playing games or watching TV or whatever. Works perfectly.
Totally just bought this off of Amazon. It's sad how excited I am to turn my DT-900 into a charging stand. Thanks, OP!

Just got the stand in (gotta love amazon prime and cheap upgrades to over night shipping) and it was a little annoying with the initial setup of stand angles vs. velcro placement... But in the end it's working amazingly. So, glad you posted this. It may sound odd, but it just adds a sleekness to the whole setup. Thanks!

I have been searching around for a simple stand that is qi compatible.
I basically gave up because they seem to be non-existent. Yet, with this in mind, I think I will give it a go!
I have an amazonbasics tablet stand (It is basically the same, but cheaper) and am about to get the charger.
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...8&qid=1378060435&sr=8-3&keywords=tablet+stand
Could the OP please take a picture of how it looks on the back though? As in, when it is charging? I would love the see the placement of the velcro and the overall gap there is.
Thanks!
And btw, the charger you can get it from ATT for 25 bucks!
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/accessories/chargers/sku6290260.html#fbid=H-aRg4I87Nd
You can go to an AT&T store and get a price match. Just tell them the price is from their own online store. They don't match anything else.

This concept is interesting.
But before acquiring both the stand (+ velcro) and charger, I need to clear up one thing.
I'm planning to buy a case for it, which will thicken the tablet.
And since there is already a gap (because of the angle), I'm worried it may not charge effectively (wireless is already 750 mA instead of 1200 on cable)

Thanks for the pic and explanation.
However, this last one make me think the first part of the arm is not long enough, and the second part can't make more than a right angle
Could you kindly show us another pic with the tablet in landscape and charger in a lower position (or can the charger be put horizontally, if not too heavy ?)

I don't have a case, but it charges with my tablet sleeve. Don't recommend charging with the sleeve though as it gets pretty hot. Not sure if the same will occur with a case.
As for landscape. Because of the vertical nature of the third support arm, I don't think this is the optimal position (less area for Velcro placement), but it does work.
Gotta clean that screen, lol.

The gap seems to be the same in landscape
It makes me think of putting something (preferably light) 1-2 cm wide between the arm and the charger. (Arm|Velcro|SomethingLight|Velcro|Charger|Tablet)
I might try that

In the landscape setup I can go one notch more on the support arm and make the angle more oblique. Lessens up the gap, but the arm is much more visible when the tablet is placed on top of it.

I had it in landscape for a few days with a poetic slimline case no issues. I ended up changing it to portrait because it allowed for easier placement for charging... Easier to drop and go... Also portrait allowed for more velcro for a more secure fit. Since I switched it up the charger hasn't budged, and I haven't had to double check to make sure I didn't miss the so called sweet spot for qi charging.

[Q] A new look of Xperia PLAY Case, anyone bought this?

I have been using a skin protector on my phone for some time now, but have started to look for a case to have just in case.. (cough)
I came across this:

And I have never seen this type before and thought I would ask the community if anyone has used this case before.

I absolutely love this case. I had this one for more than a year now.
I zoomed in on the case and I can see slits for the speakers... so they are not covered up as I thought they were. Can you tell me if the sound is muffled on this case?
Thank you in advance.
Decided to buy the case, awaiting final invoice with correct shipping to the US. I emailed the seller and he informed me this case would be his last, once they sell out they are gone for good from him. I bought one and there was 1 left.
Soon as I get the case I will throw my thoughts into this thread and request a mod to move this to Accessories thread.
If anyone with experience with this case can still leave their thoughts here I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

I do have to say though, that after removing the case A LOT of times, it starts to "bend" and a small gap opens, and dust seems to go in there and ruin the look. I dont know if its just me, the phone or the case. Heres a pic

Ive found using a spare battery plate and some flexible adhesive allows the case to seal up nice, its bendable without breaking and wont grt dust and junk inside.

So a bit bummed/irritated. Seller contacted me to inform me the case is discontinued and no longer available. Despite the fact he still has a listing on ebay. I'm guessing he decided he didnt want to ship the US.
Can anyone tell me the brand and perhaps the model of this case? I really liked it from the looks and would like to continue to search for it elsewhere.

I have uploaded several pictures from each side I could best provide, The Xperia Play is a AT&T variant with the use of the pacer carbon fiber skin from the gamepad and the back cover which should not be a problem with the use of the case, it makes the back cover press on the sticker slightly but still give that firm hold.
I did drop this phone a couple times for the 6 months I had with this case and the phone was bought pre-owned, the phone is fantastic still, the case edges does not rub on the pad or the side as the sides a slightly down by a fraction of a millimeter (this could be the case because of the skin on the back cover) but it could be flushed to the pad, visually it looks flushed. I am planning to carry my Xperia Play for a long while, maybe another year before I go on another device, I just gotten the 2nd case from the same seller and same package as you seen from my last reply, the second case has a better quality but each case from I seen can vary if the case comes with tiny defects, it wont be anything to send back for refund. If I want to buy another case I will because it fully protects my Xperia Play other than the open ports and the shoulder buttons but that's a given from any other case other than the Ottercase which I found a review for and my opinion of sholder buttons was the same for me.
There are also case that comes in different colors which I found on eBay and they also have grey, blue, purple, and white. I had experience with case worth less than three bucks and the same dilemma keeps comes back, the teeth of the case are cheap and the quality of the shells scratch even if you don't try to drop it. but unlike the cheap cases, this mixed case has rubber teeth that goes all around the phone to create a large hold which works great, it's hard to remove if dropped and that problem of teeth breaking is solved; the plastic part of the mixed case it durable from scratching lightly and has a space for the Sony Ericcson logo, the color is like foggy transparent white, it's not a problem to me personally and it would look like a slight grey on any phone, from normal room lightly it looks like dark grey. The thickness of the mixed case is the slim on the top of the phone, the buttons on the bottom does not touch the surface and the sides of the bezels are covered by the case, the case bezels does not interfere with the touch operations when I used the phone which some cases do. The bottom of the phone the case is average in terms of case thickness, In my opinion this is because of how the phone has to be curved and creates some resistance
In summary the case met my expectations and has not failed me for over 6 months that I use this case, it saved my phone from drops and will continue to do the job for another 6 months, its slim to hold and fit in your pockets, its a trooper! The case is inexpensive and does the job better in terms of drop protection from scratches though not for huge drops, then a trident would do that fine. I am not a guy that goes out much and goes to college and this case is perfect for me, I recommend this case! :good:

I just bought one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Ke...=Kensington+KeyFolio+Expert+Multi-Angle+Folio
It's a cheap case at $20 and the keyboard is made of cheap plastic (definitely doesn't feel as sleek as the Logitech ones). The black fabric case is also not real leather (and definitely does not feel like real leather).
BUT, the important thing is that the samsung galaxy note 10.1 (2014) edition WILL fit this case. Since the galaxy is about .07" wider than an ipad 4 (retina), you can fit (albeit tightly) your samsung note into the plastic slide holders that this case has for the ipad. (It will fit, you just have to shimmy it in carefully).
Mine just arrived this morning and i was able to pair it with my samsung without any issues. Even after the tablet screen goes blank, it seems to keep the bluetooth pairing, so I'm very happy. Only downside that I have seen is that there is no cutout for the microusb charging port (but I might take an exacto blade to it and try to make my own.)
Will be taking the case and tablet with me for the holidays and see how well it works with continued usage.

Hmm. I haven't spent a full day with my tablet on bluetooth. I do notice that if the auto-sleep functionality works, then there is minimal battery drain even if I leave bluetooth on. The issue tends to be if I have a case that doesn't fit perfectly (like the kensington one above), then the auto-wake gets triggered, making the battery drain overnight. I usually lose about 30% over 6-8 hours in that case.
I will keep a closer eye on it and report back. I've also been playing around with having an external thumb keyboard (rather than a full-blown keyboard), because those are much smaller and more convenient to carry around. I did also pick up one of the logitech external keyboards (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/tablet-keyboard-ipad) with the stand, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep that one since the keyboard is huge (but excellent build quality) and not very portable IMHO.

As an update, I switched over to the logitech keyboard that is a separate keyboard with no case (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/tablet-keyboard-ipad). Battery drain with bluetooth on has been pretty minimal. I'm happy with the battery life - the primary drain is still going to come from the screen and not from having the BT on. I can still go several hours with the BT keyboard connected so no complaints here.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/ultrathin-keyboard-folio-for-samsung-galaxy-tab?crid=1242
The dimensions seem pretty close ...
I just called logitech to see if they would be coming out with a folio for our tablets, the reps gave me the typical answer unfortunately... "we don't have any information on that at this time and if we are, logitech will announce it on the site".
I will say though, something did catch my attention during the conversation. I asked if they had a folio for the Galaxy Note 10.1 and he knew EXACTLY what I was talking about, as he referred to the 2014 edition. In my opinion, that can be interpreted in 1 of 2 ways: either several people are calling and asking for it, or they really do have one in the works.
Although I'm ready to purchase a case and keyboard right now, I think I may wait until my next paycheck to see what logitech does. I'll purchase a super cheap case in the meantime though.
What do you think about this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H3KM29M/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers or this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FJTV0PG/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers ?
Its seems to be 100% compatible with 10.1 2014 edition, has a good BT keyboard with case and got very nice reviews...
Its not expensive.
I am almost ready to order, just wanted to check if anyone had experience with it.

Does it have a home or back button that works with the Note? Also how is the tablet screen protected from the kb once closed?

It has the home button but it doesn't work with note tablet since this keyboard is meant to be work with iPad. Last two rows touch the screen but i don't think it matters since i have a tampered glass screen protector. Also, the keys are made of very good quality, so they won't scratch the screen in my opinion. But for $17, i think for me it's a very good decent deal. I love the quality of this product.
Sorry i cant post links.. but..
youtube has currently reviews on 2 BT-keyboard cases for the SGN 10.1-2014
simple search for galaxy 10.1 2014 keyboard
or SM-p600 keyboard
should yeild the desired results..
one is a cheap plastic case sold through ebay via china that was already discussed and photoed in another keyboard thread for the 2014 here on the XDA forums.. but a video is alwyas better.
it seemed to fit just fine.. but for me left ALOT of concerns as it has a 3 tab conection to the front of the tablet to make a "half" case.. leaving the sides and back unprotected.. and while it has a slot to slide the tablet into to stand up.. this slot has 2 "teeth" to frip it.. a from experience on my kocaso m870s and a similar tablet holder with teeth.. and what the other threads pictures clearly showed.. these teeth support the FULL weight of the tablet.. and CLEARLY bend the screen/glass out of shape under the devices weight.
for most this might be a minor issue.. but for a 600$ tablet it seems a bit unwise to damage your high end device with something so poorly thought out.
the "V" stand i use now with the 2 teeth prongs holding the tablet up alsohas the issue while deformingthe screen.. causes a single screen press to register as 3-5 in various spots.. effectivly warping the screen enough that its causing false touch readings when the screen is interacted with..
this forces me to have to hold the tablet in hand and not in the pronged cradle whenever i need to actually physically interact with it.
this other case and the better build quality of the SM-p600 might cause it to be a non issue.. but what pictures i seen in the other thread still makes it an issue worth noting.

the other case listed on youtube is a full leather folio style case in assorted colors offered through amazon.
from the video allthe holes for the ports are in the right spots.. nothing is blocked.. and the keyboard is detachable and also wrapped in the leather.
honestly theres 2 reviews of this case.. and in BOTH instances the reviewers kept dropping the keyboard while it was being handled.
its meant to be held in place by a series of magnets.. but clearly not powerfull enough ones.
this leather case also seemed to more then double the thickness profile of the tablet making the entire thing look more like a notebook then a freely portable tablet.
while not a deal breaker.. for some this is an issue they best perfer to avoid.. so is clearly worth noting.

sadly from my research.. ive not found anything that stands out as the ipso-facto "GET ME" case/keyboard for the SM-p600 just yet.. but its still a new device.. and more things are comming out for it all the time.
and knowing how cheap china knock off products are.. and sadly this is what nearly all ebay and amazon items tend to be as of late..either find a decent slim case for protection and all NEEDED featured for the tablet.. and look around local stores for a cheap bluetooth keyboard seperately.. amd keep the keyboard where you do most your business.. and keep typing light using the on screen keys while elsewhere.. and stick with that.. or wait a bit longer to see if anything worth our attentions pops up stateside.
