[Q] Exists a fully working way to install apps on external memory? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a 32GB microSD installed in my phone and I'd install apps (such as games that need to download many gigabytes of data) on it instead in the "little" internal memory. I tried memory swap mod that swaps the internal with external memory but I have some issues...

Directory bind works very well on 4.1.2 but if your on a 4.2 rom you'll have to use folder mount. Both just move the data to your memory card rather than the app

You could use gl to sd root from Google play

Cannot install to sd on ics

Every time i use any kind of ics rom i cant install games because it will not intall on sd card. But on gb it works fine anyone have any ideas on this.

Thanked you by accident, but if you are using a repack kernel than you won't be able to. Try flashing stock.
Oh boy...

What modem and kernel are you on?
You have to unmount the SD so it can install on the internal storage.
I have been having the same issue. Running stock kernel and unmounting SD card doesn't seem to help.
Sent from the phone my girlfriend said was too big.
seems like just another reason to stay on GB for a while...

nope using titanium backup (for me) doesn't affect your sd card whatsoever. be sure to realise that some widgets won't work afterwards
The great thing about using either of those tools/apps is both give option to move to Rom.
like all g apps can be moved to system giving you more internal space, the apps still update and those updates can be moved/integrated into Rom..... But word of warring leave about 15mg free in system or it can crash and give fc's

just create a partition on ur sd card and install link2sd and move every user app to sd card (expect super user & busy box)
If you have a class 4 card or above and using a custom kernel I'd like you to use Int2ext+ after making an ext4 primary partition....
Link2sd is also a great alternative but many find it annoying that it atill shows low memory thingy sometimes...
If you are using any CM rom i'd want u to go for int2ext for sure. If you need any more help you can check the new here post in my sig...

I tried this exact mod a couple weeks ago & could not get it to work. It made my internal show up as both internal & external, and disable my SD card completely. I dunno what I did wrong, I followed the instructions exactly & I have a TW rom too.

Download and Flash perseus kernel, then flash mod again. It should work after that. It does not work on note2core or saber kernels. I only tested on those three.. And make sure you download the correct mod zip as there are different variants depending on the kernel you have and if your sd card is exformat or fat32. I also recommend a format of the sd card before doing all these to start fresh.
Best way is to do a full wipe, flash rom, flash radio, flash perseus kernel and lastly the mod all before the first boot.

International note II and all usa note II variants. Also on the GS III.
The key is to have the right kernel, and to download the right mod zip for your situation...read fourth post..

I noticed one of the biggest problems with storage is that apps that do save stuff to SD card were still saving to internal storage. For example Titanium Backup was set to save to storage card but was saving to an internal storage folder called "External Storage". That app has specific setting to move the backups which saved me over a GB of space. I'll try ExtSd2InternalSd next time I upgrade ROMs.

Just remember that your "internal" storage actually becomes your sdcard and your sd-external is your internal built in memory... so is reverse.
For example when you use your camera for the first time it will ask to storage on your external..but remember that your external is no longer that but rather your internal, so if you want pics saved on your new "internal" choose no. save to phone.

Only issue I had was camera fail. Followed the op instructions but the rom my rom has aroma and it does an automatic reboot after rom is flashed.

you can flash it after too...just make sure to wipe cache and dalvik. For the camera force closing just clear data and cache under applications.

Got my 64 gig class 10 sd card Monday, and clean flashed Jedi Master 7 with Perseus kernel then this mod and it works great! I have every app, game, emulator, GPS program installed and still have 40 gigs left. Phone runs awesome too. No more storage worries or making room for new apps. I'd recommend clean flashing, it seems like most people who have issues are not starting out fresh.

I already flashed the Jedi 8X and the perseus kernel and I have a few questions:
1. Is it too late to flash the ExtSd2InternalSd mod now?
2. Do I have to do all the steps you mentioned again?
3. I have the SD card formated to extFAT and have a few GB of mp3 files in it. Would those file be wiped after the mod?
4. What would happen if I flash a new ROM in the future? Would I lose all the data in the "internal memory" i.e. the physical MicroSD card?
Thanks

I already had the perseus kernel when I tried this. I guess I'll try it again though. I really wanna get this working. Thanks.
I could be wrong but I think the mid has to be installed after clean flash and before the initial reboot after the Rom has been flashed. I flashed Rom, kernel then the mod then reboot. No issues with this method.

Zip downloads

Im new to the s3 and i downloaded 2 zips but cant find them. Im coming off a sensation and i know when i downloaded a zip i would use root explorer>sd card>downloads> then copy and paste the zip and move back to sd for flashing.
if i open my download app in my s3 i see the zips, and even tried an external card reader and saw them but i cant find them on my phone to flash. So where would they be? I wanna flash....
Root explorer>mnt>extSdCard

XDA.
To clarify, /mnt/sdcard on our phones is the internal storage, /mnt/extSdCard is the external (MicroSD) storage.
