Any good Desk Stands? - One (M7) Accessories

Not really looking for a dock here (as I dont want to keep plugging and unplugging my phone, to preserve battery health), just a nice stand my phone can sit on.
Anyone have recommendations? I found a few nice aluminum stands on amazon/ebay but they dont look ideal.. Some use the adhesive back, which I dont think would work with the curved back of our HTC One.
I'd prefer a stand that is weighty enough to stay in place on my desk, without me having to use some sort of adhesive on the base lol.
Thanks!

Hey man, I'm a huge fan of the PodProp Universal Stand, fits the HTC One nicely in both portrait and landscape mode and its cheap! Considering getting a second one for my night stand (current one is up at work). Let me know if you have questions

Ooh, these things right? http://www.etsy.com/listing/109791213/color-stone-soft-universal-fit-view?ref=usr_faveitems
Found these the other night, looks pretty good, useful, and best of all cheap lol.
Could you possibly post pictures of your One on that stand?
Also, it says its made of soft foam? That got me questioning the durability of it. How is it holding up for you. And do you know if the stone color get dirty quick?

Hey yeah that's the same one but if you buy from their website I think it includes free shipping. Below you will find a link to my review with pics of my HTC One on it. Durability is top notch, super easy to clean and no wear or tear that I have noticed. I literally use it ever weekday while at work.
http://www.androidunite.com/review-podprop-universal-stand/

Nice review, thanks for the info.
And hm you're right, seems like they sell through Amazon as well, and their items are fulfilled by Amazon so its Prime eligible, woohoos.
Sadly they dont have the stone color in stock on Amazon.. :\
They only have a 2-pack of the Blue. 2-pack for $13 is perfect, just wish they had Stone color, damnit.

I'm using the Elago iphone stand.
Sturdy and works just great
http://www.amazon.com/cell-phones-accessories/dp/B002OLM56K

I was actually considering a knockoff of that case haha: http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Desktop-iPhone-Generation-Cellphone/dp/B0087Y1XS4/ref=pd_sim_cps_15
I was worried about the case scratching the phone though. Looks like theres a pad at the bottom to protect the phone, but what about the back of the phone?

Once my phone is in the stand I don't move it but if iphones don't get scratched I can't see the One scratching either.

The thing is, iPhones have glass backs, which are harder than aluminum.
But in our case, it would be aluminum on aluminum :|
Hmm.

Neoprene Sleeve

Is there a neoprene sleeve out for the Droid X yet? I have a Nexus One that I use for work and it came with a sleeve that is easily slides in and out of. Looking for something similar for the DX for the times when I want to throw it into my laptop bag or backpack.
I came from an N1 as well and wanted the same thing, but couldn't find anything so I made one out of duct tape, lined with material from an old T-shirt.
It sounds funny, but it actually works REALLY well.
Here's some pics:
Wow, that actually looks well made! gj

I'm looking for the same thing. I have yet to find one but I'm going to order one of these for $10 till a real one comes out.
If I order it next week it will still get here before my phone does from Verizon.
(also apparently can't post links.)

1) This is true.
2) Thanks
I've been using this for a few weeks now and it's actually a really good case.
If you guys have a spare T-shirt (or sock) and some duct tape, I actually do recommend making one of these.
Maybe I'll make a how-to video.. haha
I've been using the sleeve from sfbags.com for about 2 weeks now. Its pretty decent, a thin sort of grippy material so the phone doesnt slip out on its own, but doesnt grip enough that it causes a problem trying to remove it from the sleeve. Main reason I bought it was so it wouldnt get scratched in my pockets from my keys or change and it does well with that. If you ever had a G1 its almost like the sleeve that came for that with less padding. Also I've dropped it on the asphalt already, so the material was thick enough to protect it from a dent, gouge or broken screen thankfully.
Just a word of warning. I just got a "Tune Belt Sport Armband for HTC EVO 4G" today. It fits the DX fairly well. I went for a one hour run and after when I was taking the DX out of the sleeve, the clear plastic of the sleeve stuck to my Zagg Invisible Shield and started pulling it off. End result is now I have a big crease in the Invisible Shield. I'm thinking of cutting the plastic out of the Tune Belt and see how that works. I also just got a waterproof Dry Case for the DX, I'm wondering if that's going to cause the same problem.

Sunglass Micro Fiber Pouch
Why not just use that Micro Fiber Pouch that they give you when you buy a pair of nice sunglasses. Not only can you throw it in there but you can tie it so it doesn't fall out. You can use it to clean the screen. They might even be able to give you one for free.

Atrix Back cover

Since the back cover for the Atrix is one piece and actually covers the sides as well, i was wondering if these can be made out of carbonfiber. Anyone have the hookup on someone that can make custom CF parts?
Getting a case that snaps around this seems counter intuitive. You'd think the incipio and spek cases would just be replacement covers.

I was on some website, I cant remember and they had other backcovers on pre-order for $20.... They all looked like a rubberized material with a sort of carbon fiber design and each had a motorola symbol in the center. Either blue, green or pink.
I believe it was MobileCity Online or something like that. Definitely only preorder status right now.
I agree the back is waaaay too slippery. I feel like I am going to drop it while typing. I am holding out for Powermat to release a back to use with the charging pad. If not, I might opt for the soft rubber battery covers.
Interesting. I'd like to get an extra one to use as a template. I think i got someone lined up for carbon fiber but i'd need to give them a template that wouldnt survive. I also have to make a minimum order of like 50, which i'd toss up on Ebay.
i'd be down for a couple if you could post some shots of what it would look like...since it does wrap around the corners it would slim down the phone too (versus case)...

I would so buy one.
I have no idea how much these are going to cost me and i wont know until i can give them a battery cover to work with.
Honestly, if i have to get 50 made (they estimated 50-100), i wouldnt do it unless the price i could sell them for was about $40. Regular cases are around $30 so $40 would be a great price. Most CF cases are grossly overpriced and i'd like to avoid that.
Also, this would be a replacement for the battery cover. It wouldn't be a case so it would still work in the docking stations.
I seriously doubt you'll ever see a carbon or any other compost back. There is just no way to mold in the little clips that hold the back on. So plastic is your only bet. you can't even wrap in carbon because you need to fold the material over the edge for a good hold, and doing so would block the locking clips.
I'm trying my hand at covering the back in 3M DI-NOC (carbon fiber looking vinyl), which should give it some grip.
I have no experience with CF but those little tabs may be moldable (is that even a word??). Ill continue to investigate. If it doesnt work, i lost nothing.
If you get that Dinoc on post some pics up here. I'd be interested to see how it holds up around the corners since it cannot be folded back inside due to very small tolerances between the phone and the cover.
having a little experience with molding and CF, it will be so hard to get a good piece with the proper mounting tabs, you'll have more scrap than good pieces. Not to mention that when it's that thin, it will probably snap after a few uses (mounting clips, not cover). CF isn't some magical material you can will into any shape like you can melted plastic. To mold in the locking tabs means the piece would be "clipped" into the mold upon completion, not a desirable situation.
I will post if i get the DI-NOC to look presentable. I know a few places sell pre-cut DI-NOC protectors, but those don't cover 100% of the phone.
Your experience with CF is a lot more than mine, so ill take your word for it, but i will still investigate because it wont cost me anything. If it works, great.
The only thing i'll put on mine is a very thin "sticker" or nothing. A case isnt going to work for me as i will be using a dock. It seems stupid to think that companies made a case when all they had to do was replicate the battery cover and then market this as "Hey look, our solution works with your dock."

Hey, if you can get it done, then more power to you, just trying to make sure you have a realistic outlook going in.
I'm betting companies don't make just backs because the design is 'proprietary' to the manufacturer.

I didnt even think of that! Surely there is some Chinese company chomping at the bit to make some cash.
EDIT
A clear acrylic battery cover would look cool. Show the insides a bit. And that will SURELY be cheaper than CF.

I gave up on even starting the back panel, check out the thread I just created for the carbon fiber front and sides, not to mention the back panel with REMOVED AT&T logo, REMOVED "HD VIDEO" text, and the "blur" in Moto blur....

[Q] Stand Smart Slim Leather Case Cover

Anyone has this/tried it?
Stand Smart Slim Leather Case Cover
Looks pretty decent to me and i'm thinking of getting it, was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.
i ordered one, this week, i will report as soon as i get it!
I just did as well, the silver version ;D
How will the smart cover part of that case stay on the tablet when covering the screen?
It does look good, waiting for your reviews of this case.
I got the black one about a week ago..it takes 2-3 weeks for china stuff to arrive
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Lordwinkevin whats your review then? and what of the screen cover, does it "lock" in any way?
This is by far the best designed case you can get for the Tab10. All the other cases have ridiculously huge foot prints when in a stand mode.
The part of the case that covers the back looks cheap, seems there is a white colored plastic trim piece on it.
I would love to see some better quality pics of this case, the seller's pics are not revealing enough.
hmm i just ordered it couple of days ago... mine's shipping from HK... hopefully faster?
Ive had mine for over a week. This case is heavier than my tab! its essentially a cheap piece of plastic cover for the back and a microfiber suede material for the flap. Which is the heavy part ironically. It contains four pieces of some kind of heavy metal and a small magnet. Be carefull when closing it because I was scared that it might break my screen upon impact. And there isnt any way of it staying closed. It just flaps open if turned around. Ive already received a refund for mine. Now I just use the case as a weapon. The last thing a thief will think when I pull that thing out is that I will hurt him but honestly that **** hurts like hell, lol.

So, any updates on this?
im waiting on mine as well...should come in any day now
Mine came in the mail today. I was going to do a youtube unbox but I have a crappy HP computer with windows 7 (no voice over in movie maker).
Anyway, I really like it like the case. It snaps on and off easily, has good cut outs and the plastic back adds a little stiffness to the tab. Love how light and thin the GTab is but it felt just a little too flexible. It also works well in portrait mode (how I use my tab most of the time) because it's foldable. It's more of a protector so I'm also using a Built 10 netbook sleeve that I picked up at staples for $10.
Cool, thx for the pics !
im still waiting on mine
Edit: Turns out it was waiting for me in the mail looks good, only thing is i asked for the silver one and i got the white, not really sure if i should complain or not, its not like im going to the "store" to return it hehe. Other then that, its cool and doesnt feel cheap at all
Just got mine today after seeing it discussed in this thread - glad I did, absolutely love it! Highly, high recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight but durable case.
this cover looks beautiful with the tablet I think.
Hi guys,
Is the cover for the front able to stay closed, or is it not magnetic at all?
Im looking for a slim line cover/case and this looks nice, plus its an obvious apple cover rip off, which aint that bad.

I might consider it ON a case, but I wouldn't want to stick anything on the phone itself. For one thing, it wouldn't fit in my car or desk dock.
Does it come with extra adhesive pads? If not, then what do you do if/when you get a new phone?
Attached this to the outside of a case, and it is GREAT.
I am a cyclist, and I have ruined phones by dropping them off the bike. I can now ride and use a phone if needed. (Yeah they say texting and driving is bad xD)

I'm considering getting this but all of my phones have extended batteries with the extended back piece :/. I'll just get one for my brothers iPhone I guess lol.
Wow that really does look pretty handy. I am wondering if I cam modify my rugged case to fit this without adding any thickness. it just might be thick enough (My case) I would have to cut out the cases kickstand but this acts as a kickstand so I lose nothing.
but man $30 is steep for that.
It comes with one extra sticky pad. Flygrip. The one handed solution. This sounds like a smartphone pr0n fapping device. One hand to hold the phone, the other to grip your fly.

I was thinking the same for such a simple device, but it looks well made. I'm betting it could be redesigned to be even thinner than 1/4" thickness which isn't all that thin.
Agreed 1/4" is almost as thick as the phone itself.
Machine this bad boy out of aluminum or even Titanium and make it 2-3mm thick at most and I would eve pay $40 for that one.
Problem is if that outer piece gets too thin it could bend/sheer/snap. It looks like it has a thick glossy paint coating to top it off which looks nice and may add to the durability. Using those metals may even add to the price and you'd be paying $40 or more.
I'm finding more and more often with the epic 4g touch less and less hands on experience when it comes to accessories. Best Buy has only one case I'd even consider buying (platinum series case) and Radio Shack only has full enclosure cases that go on your belt. Not really digging that solution. I may just invest in a Flygrip, how long is the free shipping good for?
I know and $40 to $45 would be fine if it was say titanium (it would be strong enough that thin) and at minimum half its current thickness. ie around 2mm would be nice. maybe 3mm.
as it stands its a lot of money for an awful thick piece of plastic. (relative to the size of the phone)
Good idea, too big for me though.
Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G Touch.
Thanks for the review. Looks awesome, but wouldn't be able to put the phone on a car dock or desktop dock after you put the Fly grip on I'm assuming...
Just purchased on of these. Cant wait to get it.
I am kinda worried about the car dock thing though since I've been seriously considering getting one. I thought that magnetic dock in the other thread was pretty cool, but after having this IDK if it would work.
it would not be all that hard to modify the car dock to work with the Fly Grip if you positioned it properly.
If you do the tilt insert method ie you don't slide the jack slider up and down this might work.
get another dock of any kind (one of the cheap ones on ebay for $6) just so long as it has the depressed section with the 4 holes for the universal quad mount.
you glue it onto the back of the vehicle dock. making it THICKER.
now you have enough depth to "cut" a hole into the vehicle dock large enough to encompass the flygrip.
and there you go. vehicle dock and flygrip. it is 1 2 3 ? no but its doable.
BTW discovered the kickstand built into my case works almost exactly and just as effectively a flygrip.
I was contemplating how to cut a hole in my case to accommodate a flygrip adn it hit me ahh just use the kickstand already on it -)
I will make a video tommorrow.
30 dollars is WAY too much for this thing...10-15 dollars at the most, but no way for 30 dollars..
I got one on the way thanks for the heads up qbking77! I think this is perfect for people with 4 inch+ phones.

Official Google Nexus 5 Bumper (semi-review?)

When I ordered my official Google Nexus 5 Bumper in Red I was more than excited to have an official case I knew I wouldn't have any problems with.
Upon opening I loved it. The red bumper on my Nexus 5 looked fantastic! I was thrilled that I was going to be carrying it around now.
First:
It fits perfectly with the buttons on the sides as well as cutouts for speakers and buttons. There's no doubt about it, although the buttons may be a a little harder to push at first, due to the case's button popouts being rigid, you can quickly get used to this and it isn't a real problem. The cutout for the speakers don't seem to limit the sound at all, so that was all good. And the cutout for the charging port fits most chargers without any issue. I only had an issue with one of my cables that has a huge plastic piece around the micro USB metal piece, but it wasn't made for the Nexus 5 so it doesn't really affect my opinion of the cutout. Plus it works with wireless charging, so that's a plus. The cutout for the headphone jack fit all my headphones perfectly, even ones with the L-shaped jack, so I was happy with that as well.
Other than that, I loved the relatively slim design of the case as well as the nexus logo on the back. I can noticeably feel the case's added width when I take it off, but it isn't a huge difference like many other cases may add. So it keeps the device still relatively slim.
BUT I WAS DISAPPOINTED after I put it on and started assessing the actual fit. I thought it would be a harder material. Although it "snapped" on perfectly, the case was loose around the top and bottom.
On the top:
The case could be pushed in, to where it would make a sound from rubbing on the Nexus 5. I adjusted the case and put it on again but nothing. It almost felt like the cheaper silicon cases bought for devices that eventually warp and don't fit properly. This is extremely annoying (at least for me) because I expected the case to be a perfect fit on the top and bottom without me being able to push parts of the case and have them move, or make a rubbing sound.
On the bottom:
The same thing occurred. The small piece of rubber above the charging port (closest to screen) is very flimsy. I noticed wear from two days of use. This involved taking it out and putting it in my pocket. My pants aren't tight so it wasn't a squeeze. It came from me grabbing the case right above this small piece of rubber and pulling it out. As with the top, I can push this piece of rubber pretty easily and have it move in and out (or up and down, however you want to say it). It seems it will continue to get looser until it is warped a bit.
Overall:
I was disappointed with the case. I contacted Google and as per their return policy they offered a refund without returning or swapping the case. The top and bottom "mis"-fits really killed the excitement for the case. With the top being able to be pushed in AND making a rubbing sound, it irritated the crap out of me. And with the bottom rubber piece over the charging port being flimsy and possibly warping JUST from everyday use of the case, I can't love the case like I wanted.
Last thing:
Anyone else have this issue? Or any other issues? When I read and watched multiple reviews, none of them seemed to show all of the bad things I found with my case. So part of me thinks it may be just mine. I am considering ordering another with the refund offer but I am hesitant to spend money on another and have the same results.
I use the official bumper case for my 5 in the really dark grey/black color. I really like this case. I didn't pay full price for it so that might be why I don't mind it as much.
I do not have any loose areas anywhere on mine and fits very snug.
I seem to be in the minority here as I really like using this case. It's simple, slim, feels good, fits nicely, it's everything I need and want in a case. I'm extremely cautious with my phones and would never be caught with an otterbox or any other humongous case. For me slim and simple is the way to go.
Sorry to hear you encountered some problems with yours.

same here. it works perfectly with my phone too. no loose top or bottom areas here. i don't know about slim but it is handy and gives a good grip. also the charging point rubber you talked about? for me it's a bit tight fit for the charging pin but it just gives way when pushed with a bit of presssure and comes back when pin is removed. otherwise no problems for me with this case and i'm pretty satisfied.

Where did you get it ?
I saw a video about the replica bumper cases from China and decided to get a couple of them. They said the quality was identical to the ones from Google. Plus, it was only $20 for 2 cases. When I get them, I'll post here with a mini review.

Do you want me to hold your hand? Figure it out.
I would buy this, if the peeling issue wouldn't be present.. how is your opinion?

I haven't received them yet. Will let you know as soon as I get them. Shipping from China takes a while.
I got a red one about 3 weeks ago.
It started peeling (sort of) at the corners within 10 days, black material was showing up.
Upon removing the case, I discovered that it left long marks on the rubbery back of the black Nexus 5, along the ridges of the bumper.
Thats when I decided to sell it off.
Simply put, it looks awesome, fits awesome, but as a product, its bad, and not at all worth the money.
Atleast those marks are slowly dissappearing (Trust me, those arent dust or something)
