Sim unlock for 4.1.2 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is there any way to unlock the sim on JB 4.1.2 without downgrading to 4.1.1? Thanks.

Does it matter what version OS you are on? Just get a sim card from AT&T and plop it in. Course you'll need the code to unlock it...

I did it a couple Days ago.
Went back one baseband to the one before UVALL. Something K8? Did the menu trick and then back to UVALL.
The baseband are flashable from CM. Didn't have to revert to 4.1.1

Just curious, why u r on UVAL while there is MD1?
If I will unlock then I will have to stay on UVAL? I can't upgrade from k8 modem to MD1 modem?

You messed up by upgrading!!! You lost your unlock and can't get it back!!!!!
Just kidding Once you unlock, you're unlocked for good. You can flash as many ROM's, kernels, or modems you want.
No need to fear, you're good to go :victory: Enjoy your trip!!

I saw your "you messed up..." only top half in my email. Then I freaked out for like 2 sec. then I came on xda and saw the full message.
Well the moment of truth will reveal itself when I pop in that international sim card. (otherwise I have to use my iphone....)
edit: I test with att on my previous firmware and it was unlocked so anyway I will just have to wait til I travel and see.

Not so simple anymore. T-Mobile used to be very good about unlocking, but they recently changed their policy.
They require 18 months on the last contract before issuing a code. So you don't unlock and run, I suppose.
Personally, that's my signal to run.
Having been a loyal customer for over 13 years, and fulfilled half a dozen contracts despite unlocks, I'd appreciate a little trust.
But there is no loyalty in this world. So hack and root and run it is.
(I'll recoup the early termination fees in 3-4 months)

R800at rooted .270 Now what?

Just bought an att play phone off craigslist, had it updated to 280 thru sony companion, found no rooting with 280, so flashed back to 270, thanks to flashtool and you all!
I'm now going to call att and ask nicely for simunlock code; next I'm going to try bootloader unlock, so I can install custom roms and kernels.
I am not a noob; I have had a few android phones starting from htc g1 years ago. But, this is my first Sony android phone. In the last six months or so, I had a Motorola Atrix 4G with the laptop dock and then a Dell Streak 5, and now the Xperia Play.
Having lots of fun, you can say.
Well, now that I have a rooted xplay, what should I do with the phone, in terms of apps and mods?
I eagerly await your collective wisdom.

If you plan to keep it on stock AT&T build I would OTA update to .285 now that you are rooted. You will keep the root if you OTA update. To me .285 runs better and smoother than .270.
If you plan on using other roms then I would just get the bootloader unlocked and have at it.

Thanks for your suggestion/advice. I'd like to keep it on stock for a little while longer. I'm having problems with ota updating, keep getting "Only mobile networks available for software update" even though I have wifi working. Is there a way for force it?
Man just unlock your bootloader with alejandrissimo and it will be automatically SIM unlocked, and dont keep it stock with AT&T firmare, flash a generic rom from r800a or r800i you wont loose 4G, but you will a have a clean and modable ROM

downgrade baseband?

Hey guys... Looking for 2 answers...
Can the baseband of an M919 be downgraded?
If so, can you point me to a tutorial or Instructions?
It all depends. If you're still on the MDL bootloader you can Odin flash the MDL baseband. If you're already on the MK2 bootloader you can not go back.

Already bought unlock codes from FastGSM... so, no need to downgrade now... But, for reference... How do I know which bootloader Im on? or how would one preserve an old bootloader if updating a ROM
You will get the new bootloader if you a) took the OTA update or b) update via kies or c) Odin flashed the whole 4.3 firmware.
In Settings/More/About device, look at your baseband. The last 3 digit should be MDL or MK2.
That's your modem.
Bootloader you need to go into Download mode I believed.

To be honest, I've found the best thing to do is not jump on the band-wagon and flash an update until you research what the Devs suggest before flashing away. It has saved me a ton of grief and aggravation. They know these updates in and out. For instance, they were warning people to hold off on the MDL to MK2 because of the bootloader and KNOX issue but people didn't research and now some are having problems and it is too late, you can't go back. If you did the OTA update or through Kies you are stuck with MK2 and KNOX. For most people it's no big deal, but if you enjoy modding your phone it can be a pain in the rear.

Picked it up with the MK2... was trying to do a SIM UNLOCK without paying $30US (The IMEI unlock is $30, the USB/software unlock is $15... and the debug unlock is free...but it looks like the debug is done away with in MK2)...
Should have probably mentioned, this is a Metro PCS flashed with TMo rom (did that to try to get the debug menu to work correctly as there has been some luck with it)... Anyway, now the fun part of getting back to MPCS...
On a side note... you guys know about the Re-Partition flag in Odin? You guys here in XDA make it sound as if its a good way to brick a phone... in the MPCS forum (on a dif. site)... has that mark checked when flashing back to the MPCS rom (stock) from a TMo rom... any ideas?

The phone IS rooted, but it has a stock ROM and I´m running 4.3.

The thing with the online code is that my CC has no money because I withdrew everything since I won´t be needing to use it at all since I won´t be going back to the US.

If your phone came with 4.3 already installed from T-Mobile or you took the official ota then you are out of luck as far as downgrading is concerned. Are yu any of tthose? if so, you will have to buy an unlock code from an online unlocker like FastGSM

[How to] Sim Unlock the Galaxy S4 Without the Hidden Menu

HOW TO SIM UNLOCK THE SGH-M919, no unlock code necessary.
This thread is for all of you that have tried this method and have failed: How to SIM unlock Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-M919 (tested - works) - Updated: 7/2/13
EDIT: I'm sorry to say that after testing this method out on a replacement s4 running stock 4.3 with the MK2 bootloader, this method DOES NOT WORK ON 4.3 OTA OR MK2 BOOTLOADER
The previous method worked on Samsung devices running the old firmware and was patched by T-Mobile and Samsung in the M919UVUAMDL release. Many new (purchased in the last few months) devices have been known to have this release pre-installed.
This is not my work, it is chainfire's genius. You must, at the very least, go and give him the "Thanks". If you can, donate a beer.
His app "RegionLockAway" was intended to de-regionlock devices that Samsung had marketed as "unlocked" (i9505, N9005, etc).
However, a common side-effect for other carrier-branded variants was that it unlocked their devices as well. I tried it and it worked on my SGH-M919 that I bought from T-Mobile.
TO UNLOCK THE M919,
1. Make sure that you are on the completely stock touchwiz setup that came with the phone (bootloader, kernel, and stock touchwiz rom). You can restore via kies/odin here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628. Again, thank the developer if you used it.
2. Install RegionLockAway Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
3. Thank the developer, even if it doesn't work.
4. Run the RegionLockAway app and click "Region Unlock"
5. Follow all onscreen instructions carefully.
6. Reboot and test it out with preferably a non-North American SIM. This ensures that not only is it unlocked, but also region unlocked. If it asks you for a code, it failed.
As a standard disclaimer:
If you bricked it, it's your fault. I tried it on my own and it worked for me.
As always, I highly recommend donating to the developers who helped you.
First time first! Thanks for this info. I themed chain fire as well

region unlock and sim unlock aren't the same as far as I know.
You can use sims outside of your region (country) but you can't slap an at&t sim card in there and use it.

No they are not BUT they're closely related that doing one usually result in the other. RegionLockAway will SIM unlock when use correctly. I used it a few months ago to SIM unlock my GS4. After it was done I put in an AT&T SIM and made a few calls plus try a few websites.

T-Mo gave me an "Unlock code" and it was from Sammy, and it would not work. After 3 tries, each with a different code, it still would not work, so I gave up.
Today using chainfire's app, it works, and I insert an At&T sim card, and it doesn't ask for the code anymore! it's UNLOCKED, and it recieves a signal and connects to the internet via my wireless router. All's good and after placing my T-Mo sim back in, it's all good!
All the connections still like it used to be.
Awesome!

If your phone is SIM unlocked but region locked, RegionLock Away will unlock your phone. If it is SIM locked in addition to being region locked, RegionLock Away can't do anything for you on its own. There's two different locks in play here. If regular unlock methods didn't work (including paid methods of entering in the code), RegionLock Away should finish getting rid of the lock.

If you're on a custom rom, and you're on 4.3, you do not have access to the service menus. You need to be on a stock Samsung rom and on 4.2.2.
When I'm talking about paid codes, I'm talking about the unlocker services online that require you to tell them your IMEI, not the RegionLock away app.
Ok, so rnd 2 happened last night. I reverted back to 4.2.2 via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628but yet again i cant make calls. So now what can be wrong? Is ot cause on on mk2? I tried to go to md modem but i kept gettin fail in odin...if i make a call the recipient sees it...but nothing..
When i try this method i an get all the way to step 6. When there i do t have an option 3, just 1 option. So wtf??????? Grrrrrrr

I would have thought the stock MDL firmware would have also reverted the modem to MDL. I suggest finding one that does (re-ODIN this one first - I recall a few people said they had to do it twice) , as possibly both the ROM and Modem need to be MDL for the unlock process to work.
OK. You have to be completely stock in order for this to work. I am not sure why you are getting a fail message on Odin. Can you maybe give us a description of how you are doing it? The Sim unlock thread clearly says you have to be completely stock which will be android version 4.22 with MDL. You are back on 4.22 but you still have the mk2 modem. We will have to figure out how to get you completely stock before we can go any further.

Go here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=14362 and download the 4.22 file for M919. The link should go directly to it. Follow their instructions and you should be completely stock one you're done. Once your done be sure to test your device and make sure you have sound. If you don't have sound you most likely have a hardware problem so you will have to root again and reset your counter then unroot so you can return your device if you haven't voided your warranty. If you do have sound then go back here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068 and Sim unlock your phone and profit. Good luck!
