How do you flash stock rom on GS4? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Would you use Odin? Is there a specific version that is recommended?

I saw a sig the other day that made me think of a similar situation.
Asking questions that could easily be remedied by using the Search function... not returning to a stock ROM...

Ok, if you didn't take the hint and do anything I mentioned; look in the development section. Your answer is there.

Yes the specific version is 4.2.2 MDL which you can see in the first download link.
There are no newer or other versions of the rom, this is the latest and the greatest!
This guide will get your phone back up and running properly with
the Samsung Galaxy Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 MDL official rom.
Easy and sure way fix your problem - Here is s step by step guide:
First make a new folder on your windows desktop.
Download the Samsung Galaxy S4 M919 v4.2.2 Odin flash rom: http://hotfile.com/dl/213546261/7ab...-SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131.zip.html
After downloading unzip/extract the new stock rom you just downloaded using Winzip or 7zip
into the new folder you just made so the TAR file is in it.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
• Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
• Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
• Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
• Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
• Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
• You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
• Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
• Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
• Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
• TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
• If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
• Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
• Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
• You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
• Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
• (It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
PLEASE NOTE: If your phone is NOT a Tmobile Samsung Galaxy Model M919 do not flash this rom.
Good Luck!

I AGREE 100%
Its less stress to easily give a answer and help someone regardless of whats asked, as apose to the energy exerted by bashing someone , more thought, time , and choice phrases and negativity goes into the careless remarks people leave others. who cares...whats asked of the 1000s of people on xda theres, gonna be one or two who has time to try and help. We dont need 20 people who feel the need to wipe a noob under the table, just cause they are the Moderators Little Pets!
I think it pisses me off more than anyone.
Youll find I have many helpfull replies throughout xda forums , wether I have time or not , wether I know the correct answer for the OP or not" I still try my best.
Xda is way out of control with this standard of hierarchy. At the end of the day Its still only a website for people on there down time to play with a phone.
It Holds no key to everyday real life.
Lets oust these goons one by one.

[REF] Gingerbread Starter - Simple Gingerbread installation method for Froyo users

Briefing
So, I've realised that in every single Gingerbread ROM thread, the developers are writing that to install their ROM you must be on Ginger or you have to flash whole XXJVK ROM via ODIN (about 150MB to download), if you're using any kind of Froyo now. When I was doing new version of my DebusROM, I've invited simple method to install the needed bootloaders and kernel with CWM.
How it works?
Method is simple. You just need to flash a small 8MB file via ODIN. It will flash Primary Bootloader, Secondary Bootloader (needed for Gingerbread) and the kernel with CWM recovery. The next step is to flash the ROM you want. It is much faster and light weight method than flashing the WHOLE JVK Gingerbread. It was tested by me in a few circumstances and It works!
Download
There is one version available, which is the most stable and safe one.
Gingerbread Starter with SpeedMOD K13E [DOWNLOAD]
ODIN version 1.7 [DOWNLOAD]
INSTALLATIONFirst of all, I'm not responsible for any black scenarios. This thing flashes bootloader, if it fails it means you have trouble. But don't worry it shouldn't
1. Download the right version from section above
2. Reboot your phone into Download mode
3. Connect your phone to computer
4. Run ODIN
5. Select Gingerbread_Starter_KERNEL_ODIN.tar.md5 as a PDA file in ODIN
6. Check the "Phone Bootloader Update" checkbox
7. Click Start
8. Wait until phone reboots and make it reboot into Recovery
9. Flash your Gingerbread ROM
10. Simple, isn't it?
Below, this is how should look ODIN before flash

You MUST check if Download Mode works or not, and if you can boot into recovery or not If Download mode works just flash bootloaders once again via ODIN, then flash ROM via Recovery. If recovery works, flash the ROM.

Hi, I prob will try this, looks promising.....
Just some questions,
I now use ClockworkMod Recovery, as the RzRecovery had big problems with the External SD, particularly if you attempted to save a Nandroid on /sdcard/external_sd.
So, is this ROM flashable with CWR, or is it only RzR??
If not, can you supply ODIN flashable package?
Can you supply MD5, as this is usual for devs with new ROM's....just to ensure no corruption in d/l or if you transfer from PC to phone via USB.
ppl can use AVF on the phone/device....it is very useful.
Also, what worldwide APN list....most do not include my little country or my little cheap provider!!!
Hope you can answer!!

Hi
Sorry at this time this update only can flash with RZR
I will borrow my friend phone again
So i can update and make backup from CMW and apply working init.d for stock kernel
Worldwide APN list i get from google to get APN setting automatically
I hope your country registered from google
Thanks, usually Ireland not in those lists, and when it is, my provider is not there......
peeps think we are UK
no probs, I can add APN info myself, or OTA from my Provider.
I will wait for CWM flashable zip.
How about MD5?? just to ensure correct d/l and no corruption when downloaded to phone.
Thanks again a chara (Gaelic for Friend)
Its okey, just add it ur self, in indonesia we add it our self oh and rio, so i can't flash it with cwm?
Any advance on CWM .zip flash

I'm also looking forward to try this as soon as it is CWM-compatible
if its a custom ROM and its flashable in RZRecovery, shouldn't it also be flashable in CWM as well ? the methods employed in both custom recoveries are quite similar when it comes to flashing ROMs

Hi All,
Update for this
Maybe it different if you wanna use CMW, because RZR recovery file is "compresed" and it didn't has MD5
The file that i make in blacknotes website have 2 part. if you wanna try just extracted it will be become one folder then copied to SD card
Why i did't put this tread in developer section
Because i just wanna share it , i'm not developer that dedicated for one phone like others do (perhaps just hobby )
I do costumize for my phone Galaxy 3 (Apolo) and Blackberry
The others phone that i custom is 1Xperia 10, Galaxy S2, Wonder and Young
(That's all my friend phone, so i need to borrow they phone )
and thats why i put it in different website
The good news is, i already make CMW backup that means you can flash it via CMW now
Bad news is, i out of the town right now and i left my PC in home uploading speed here is s**k
Others things that all of user must know:
1. Swapping SD Card is NOT recomended if you don't have 6+ class SD card. It will be slowing down your phone and take a long time to boot and response.
2. Wonder has 1.4 Ghz that mean "Super Fast" for android phone. My advice is you didn't need to overclocking it. Because it will cause your GPU have SHORTEN LIFESPAN and SHORTEN BATTERIES LIFE because of the heat (Prepare to buy new one). please make your mind before overcloking. 1.4 Ghz it Super fast, all you need is MEMORY MANAGEMENT app or script not OVERCLOCKING. because this device has lack of Memory management. Try V6 Superscript
3. Do not charge the batteries before it completely DEAD and shuting down it self. You will get long lasting batteries if you only charge it if the phone has no power left.
I will update it, as soon as i come back
Thanks

****FAQ****
[Q] "My apps won't install from market, says sd or storage error" [A] Make sure your on the stock NO CWM kernel or remove your SD card and install app.
[Q] "Can I update from 1.x to 2.x" [A] Yes you can, but read the OP instructions!! If no special instructions listed use a full wipe or modded wipe.
[Q] "Whats an "Update zip"? [A] It is NOT a full rom, ONLY updates what you have already, ie, 1.9 to 2.0, ONLY requires a wipe of cache and dalvik only.
[Q] "My PC does not show my SD or How to connect USB to PC" [A] Settings/More/USB utilities and select "Connect storage to PC"
[Q] "How do I go back to EL29 or GB roms" [A] Use sfhubs OneClick rooted EL29 HERE and then use Autoroot HERE to get recovery, then restore your nand. Read all the info FIRST!!
[Q] "Im getting SoD (sleep of death, screen of death), HELP!! [A] If you have a repacked kernel, that is more than likely causing it. Flash a stock NO CWM kernel and see then.
[Q] "OMG, this has BEATS!! Wheres the app" [A] It is running in the background, its not just in one player.
[Q] "My battery life is horrible" [A] This is a leak and not a final build by any means, YMMV. Have you cycled your battery atleast once? Did you just flash the rom? DO NOT judge to early.
[Q] "How do I push a apk" [A] Use a file manager that has root access, Ie, root exploer, ES file manager, Move the apk to the system/app folder, fix permissions to read RW/R/R or 1247 like on a phone key pad, wipe cache.
[Q] "How and what do I do to get recovery back" [A] If you need recovery, use Odin or mobile Odin and use THIS tar file or the .tar kernel of your choosing.
[Q] "Why do I have 2 MMS's" [A] 1 is ICS and one is stock, stock HAS to stay for you to have working SMS.
[Q] "Getting 2 sms notifications or doubles" [A] Turn off the notifications from the one you are not using.
[Q] "My camera does not work in one way or another" [A] Flash the stock NO CWM kernel for the build you are on.
[Q] "I have NO signal bars or they fluctuate" [A] It is an ICS thing/bug, it just reports wrong. Look at settings/about phone/status under signal strength.
[Q] "Exchange wont sync or problems with exchange" [A] See THIS post by "Beejmeister", Thanks goes to him for the find!!
[Q] "My GPS does not lock or work or MOST everything else" [A] Look in post #2 for the fix or work around, Should have read that already!!
[Q] "HTC keyboard works then stops or FC or does nothing" [A] Your pretty much SOL!! LOL , Currently no fix. ?MAYBE?
[Q] "Email widget text does not fit right" [A] Refer to THIS post from "TPIKE" for a workaround. Thanks Tpike!!
[Q] "My hotspot wont connect, WTH" Sprint hotspot or Wifi tether [A] Sprint hotspot, I have found that if you disable the password it will then connect or open app and hit menu> advanced> max clients and change it from 0 to however many you want connected. OR with Wifi tether, Change device info to GSM Galaxy Nexus.
[Q] "Facebook pictures won't sync!!" [A] Install "Haxsync" from the playstore
Finally. Everyone bring all your BS to this thread. haha just kidding. Thanks BTR

FAQ's
WARNING:
FLASHING MC2 RECOVERY WILL REQUIRE YOU TO ODIN A NEW RECOVERY
Q: TWRP/CWM is giving error XYZ?
A: Update to latest recovery, redownload file & check MD5, reinstall.
Q: Why doesn't this include modem XYZ?
A: Because I felt like it.
Q: Will this work on...
A: Stop. No, just the L900, & I've only tested on Twhiz. I havent tested on CM but I'm sure it's fine. CM folks please test & report.
Q: I read an error in Aroma saying modem not installed, what do I do?
A: Try again, if issue presists use a diffrent modem until you can get the one you want working. Also look here.
As long as the MD5 checks out it's probably a borked script. A damn comma I bet!
Q: My question isn't in the FAQ or thread?
A: Cry about it. :silly:
MOD Q: Why did you post this here? PREPARE TO BE MOVED!
A: Hold on fair and accurate Moderator, in the rules I felt it was conveying apks and themes, & this is firmware.

Great idea but damn pain to try and download. Got to jump through to many hoops. Got tired of trying to find the actual download and gave up. FYI you might want to find a better host before mods close this down.

If you remember the internet BEFORE high speed dsl and ATT, it used MODEMS. The modem in your phone does the same functions... So this will UPDATE you to the latest and newest modem for your phone... May I suggest SEARCH... although I dummed it down for you google search or xda search would have told you this...

Awesome! (SlimKat4.4 also) I'm about to do the same.
Yes it worked. From SlimKat 4.4
1. Copied Zip into external SD Card.
2. Held power menu and chose boot to Recovery. (ClockWork Recovery)
(In CWM)
3. Cleared Cache.
4. Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. Install Zip
6. Agreed to Walter White's terms.
7. Install finishes before seeing 100%, restarted at 90% for me.
8. Baseband shows MK4
Thanks

[STOCK][ODIN][TAR] L710VPUDNJ2 PC Odin Flashable ( Sprint )

** Stock sprint .tar NJ2, UNROOTED, untouched, from SamMobile**
** Keeping this as simple as it can be **
x Unzip the files to the Odin folder ( comes with 2 files, the tar, and the ss_dl.dll, Extension should be .tar.md5 @ 1,531,471 kb. )
x Set device into download mode ( Vol Down + Home + Power, press Vol Up on dialog to continue )
x Open Odin ( I recommend v3.09 ), load .tar file into "PDA" or "AP" slot. ( Depending on which Odin you prefer to use. )
x Plug in the device. ( Optimal using rear USB Ports @ 2.0 and the original device cable it came with. )
x Take a look and make sure there's a box reading COM:## in Odin at the top ( Doesn't matter about the ## as long as it reads COM: ), and wait for drivers to successfully finish installing if it hasn't done so already.
x Select Start, and wait for it to finish.
xx It'll be ~15 minutes tops, So do whatev's you do in that moment of time.
Keynote: When I restored using the tar myself, it did not remove data, so wipe beforehand as a necessary precaution.
Download file ---> HERE <---
Please leave a message if the .tar or mirror link is busted, i'll gladly upload again.
Devs can use as a base if needed. no need for thanks no need for credits, as long as
we're pushing things out for the community and make em all happy
-- Creddies ( I always want to give where it's given! )
SamMobile, for all of Samsung needs and firmware news, Tar found on there.
XDA Forum Community, for what they do around here day in, day out.
Samsung, for the device.
Spark91, Mirror Link.
If I missed anyone, please leave me a message as I will add effective immediately. Or be shot down by Dev's so they can remove this post
effective immediately.
I might Need This
Doing a quick download on my end because my upload speed was wonky. If anyone else would like to try odin stock unrooted as well.
Yep, link is good, download is good, .tar odin flash is good.
root method working using Odin flash twrp 2.8.4.0 d2spr, flashing supersu v2.40!~ ( Initial start up, if removing knox the first time doesn't work, reboot device and go into supersu again to disable knox on stock odex in supersu app. If that method doesn't work, download rootchecker app verify su, and it should work that time )
Screenies.

You can use ND8 ROMs, but since MK3 you can't downgrade your firmware, it's not going to change.

I didnt see the NJ3 tar on Sam Mobile :<
Grrr! Built 3 versions of the new ROM and only 1 booted. But it required the meta-inf from ND8 to boot and the about device info all said ND8. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Debloater?
@bilgerryan Would your debloater (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2742937) work on this? Or is that ND8/MK3 only?
