Did you test it? Bugs? More info please, we are not using some low end device of one hundred euro.

Looking at the dates of these posts shows something.

I've compiled this from source, but was waiting till halo is public before I made a thread..

I wasn't trying to take over the thread or make your contribution of any less use
but if anyone wants my PA build its here... http://d-h.st/F2D
2 issues that I've noticed are No NFC and Hardware button backlights don't work for some reason. I think I know how to fix them, but I just need to find time to have a look
And obviously anything else that plagues CM10.1 at the minute
Edit: just noticed you've changed thread title and OP... I've also done CarbonRom too although I have no intentions of starting a thread or anything, just wanted to see what it was like...

Cool i understand but still there isnt really any reason to have a port rom as well as one compiled from source.

Why is it in the Original Development section if it's a copy of someone else's ROM?

It is for the i9505, as the difference between T-Mobile and international is the lib files. I am doing the same thing victorator is currently doing with cm10 nightlies. As victorator is not compiling from source but creating a ported build from the T-Mobile.

Hmmm...
Wonder if we could take that ROM, change the updater-script to match our mounting points....then we just need a kernel....
Which we have one kernel already made. Not sure if it would work though.
If anyone would help set up a build environment that would work for our kernels and roms then I will gladly help and start learning.

I think we'd need a stock CM9 based kernel though. If I understand correctly.

Well, it shouldn't take too long. It may be possible to build a CM9 Kernel for our phones using parts of the stock kernel that we have access to.
Once the JB source is released, an S3 port might actually be viable. Otherwise it's essentially just flashing a gnex image and praying something/anything works.

a CM9 kernel shouldn't be needed, just a modded kernel for our specific phone from what i believe.
We know this, but it's more of an experiment. Also, it helps work out anything we may need to do early on with the modules and drivers

Why not take this ROM, change the updater-script for our mount points, remove the flashing of the boot.img, flash ROM then flash the kernel Roman release?
Think that would work?

It could, in theory. But we would need to work on the modules for anything to work. Could you post our mount points?
why does it have to be a cm9 kernel?
to be completely honest, as soon as we get a cm9 alpha, we will see some worth while stuff! but until then. TouchWiz it iz. We will have team kang's AOKP in no time im sure. i cant wait to see wuts to come. especially since this phone is at all the major carriers and they are all basically exactly the same! should be epic.

[ROM] [JSS15J] CM 10.2 unofficial [BLE working]

CM UnOfficial Nightlies
This is a take over from Carlos_Manuel who has been building CM 10.2 since release. I am just here to sync CM's source code and build it, Although if I can help I will or other users will help so please ask any question you like.
and I encourage open chat about roms / kernels etc as we all learn more that way, but please be respectful of others and remember it's easy to take something the wrong way when your comunicating with so many different languages/cultures so please keep it clean and have fun.
Cheers
Steve
I'm not responsible for anything (unless it's a positive), you flash at your own risk.
MAGURO ONLY
Changelog
due to there not being an official cm release yet, there is no official changelog.
I do not know what changes between my builds as lot's of devs merge commits at any time.
all i do is sync nightly and build if the source allows me to
so sorry no changelog.
Root info
after clean flash you need to activate root access (do not flash any other su as cm has built in superSU)
go into settings/about phone and tap build number 7 times (this activates developer options)
then go into settings/developer options/root access and select or toggle off/on "apps and adb"
now you should have working root
Wipe info:
if coming from a 4.2 based rom then do a dirty flash first time. (no wipes) then after full boot, reboot into recovery and factory reset, then reflash the rom and gapps a second time. (let me know if you have bootloops as this should stop them).
if coming from another 4.3 based rom clean wipe
if coming from previous build then dirty flash unless I state otherwise.
Download info:
Download the rom from the link below and place on sdcard.
Download a 4.3 Gapps package and place on sdcard
Do appropriate wipe (see above).
Flash rom.
Flash gapps.
Reboot
Rom Downloads Links:https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BxRASawXllipdjJaVnBMUEw0cDA&usp=sharing
Gapps Download Links (by other): use P.As 4.3 gapps for now.

All Credit goes to the CyanogenMod Team. http://www.cyanogenmod.org/

AOSP ROM request thread

So I've recently gotten into porting roms from source...and I'd thought I'd fulfill some AOSP cravings since I have access to a build server.
The following roms are already in my porting plans:
AOKP 4.3
CodefireXperiment 4.2.2 and 4.3
If only a few people are interested in a particular rom, I will post builds here. If multiple people are interested, then I will create and maintain a thread for each rom. No guarantees for anything, but I will do what I can.
----
IMPORTANT NOTE: If someone suggests an AOSP rom that you have interest in seeing built for our device, please THANK their post so that I know you are interested, and also to keep duplicate/"+1" posts to a minimum.
Note: Source port means that it will be ported using THE SOURCE CODE. These roms will be compiled from source, they will not be ported using binaries already compiled for other devices.
Thanks!
Pure aosp? No cm.

It's not that they are CM based. The CM kernel was modified for newer devices as of the 9/22 nightly.
And sorry, but this really isn't the place to be asking any of this. Check the relevant threads for the information you need.

Thanks CNexus. More things to play with are always better. Couple of questions for you:
1) Will the impending drop of TW based Android 4.3 for our S3 devices give the AOSP community anything in the way of hardware drivers or RIL material to work from? (just curious)
2) Could I request that you maybe post announcements here for any builds you come up with and where to get them (for the first couple at least)?
It's exciting to consider these new AOSP ROMs. Especially since it appears we are about the only US variant of the S3 w/o official device support for AOKP.

(These boot and work without modification right now, for some reason my slim build won't boot, and I don't really have time to figure out why, because it could be an issue on my side or their side)

He is compiling them. The Kindle fire base and the kernel is developed by Hashcode. Slim, AOKP, and Carbon implementations are all created by their perspective developers. Does that answer your question? Compiling a Rom is just a matter of setting up the proper environment and repositories then letting it rip. Well there`s a bit more to it than that but you get the jist.
Yeah he's exactly right. ^ also, I test the first build to make sure it does work and then I put it out if anyone wants to use it. I am building these myself. I can take screenshots of the builds straight from my computer if you'd like.
I may not be able to maintain all these ROMs, but I'd like to put the options out there. I might have to request for other people to maintain the aokp and slimbean thread if life gets too busy. I was originally only planning on maintaining carbon.. So I will keep going with that.
Thanks for the ports. Slimbean runs well, no real problems or quibbles I've found so far.
36 hours and one full cycle into this one and all is good. Seems SlimBean has settled in nicely on my KF. Thanks androidsftw! Your efforts to bring this variety of ROMs for us is greatly appreciated here!

Not sure why people are being skittish about using the ROM, I've run it for about a week now and it's rock solid stable! Fast and smooth...definitely one of the best 4.3.1 ROMs out.
Edit; Ive been using a few of the KitKat 4.4 system apks ( Play services, email, GEL Launcher, keyboard...) from here without any issues, making this Rom just that much more awesome. Can't wait for SlimRom to get updated to the new base!

To be honest with you I already have cm 11 and aosp built for the kindle fire. Unfortunately I can't test either until twrp releases a new build with kitkat support. I attempted to build twrp from source.. And it did build.. But let's just say the recovery doesn't work well xD.

Unofficial Builds for Sprint l900

"[MoKee] OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…"

Dang Slesh... I get the N5 and you start dropping Roms left and right. Now I'm tempted to give the N5 to the girlfriends son and take my Note2 back.

it's a tower, with plenty of cooling
needless to say it's made me happy so far
Looks good. Quick question. If I gave you the system folder for the SH-06D NERV, could you morph it into a 4.4 rom?
Can someone recommend a way to initiate the dialing from the bluetooth headset.
Worked great on TW but can't get it to initiate on the AOSP rom.

How about the camera? Tried gummy but had to change because of the camera problem?
Also, what is the main difference between this rom and the gummy? Looks quite a bit alike.
Thanks.
Really need to have a rom with a functional camera.

Camera has been fine for me, all 4.4 cm camera has an occasional blip, reboot fixes generally or a permission fix. And they're both based on aosp/cm 4.4x. So they're gonna look "similar", but they were made 10,000 miles away from each other
I posted this link in the cm nightlies thread and will post here too. There is an app Restart Camera that will reset the camera without a reboot.
