Clearing app defaults - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Got used to nova launcher (and bought prime) since I was on my s3 with liquid smooth, but now being back at touch wiz I keep getting a message saying that I need to clear my app defaults. Makes me choose which launcher to use each time.
Had this problem on touchwiz with my s3 but went aosp and didn't have the problem again. Kinda liking tw on this phone so I'd like to stay with it if I can figure this out. Already tried clearing all defaults and then tried going into the specific apps and clearing the defaults. No luck. Help?

Tap and hold on the notification. It should give a menu option of "app info" click it and post a screenshot. Thanks!

Why not FREEZE the launchers you do not want to use with Titanium backup, that way they will still be
there in case you ever want to use or mess around with those other launchers.
By doing that your default launcher will always be used without a popup box asking you what to do.
If you want to use another launcher which is frozen just unfreeze it...
I know that normally you should not have to do this, but if you just cannot figure it out it does not hurt
anything to freeze a launcher.
good luck!

How to get rid of sprint id

My mom's phone keep lagging and crashing because the sprint id keep crashing. her phone is stock and is there anyway to delete or disable sprint id?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Unless you're rooted I don't think there is. Sorry.

Use exynos abuse to root then remove it. You can unroot with the same app.

I was able to get my wife's phones sprint id to stop crashing by switching launchers temporarly. She was using the ICS launcher. I went into apps /all /launcher unchecked use by default and did a force stop. when I exited a box poped up asking what I wanted to use to preform this action. I picked TW Launcher. The errors went away after that. I can even go into Sprint ID and add ID's or switch back to the ICS launcher and haven't seen the error again. She did have to reset up her desktops as most of the icons disapeared for some reason.

Worked perfectly - appreciate the fix - much easier than a hard reset any day - Thanks!

Swift keyboard issues.

I downloaded the swift keyboard app since I like it more than the Samsung standard keyboard.
My issue is that even tho I set the swift keyboard as default, when I restart my phone, it will always revert back to samsung. Any ideas how to stop this?

This has already been brought up several times on the forum. Check out this link and remember to always give a good search first before starting new threads. Cheers

I always use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall the stock keyboard. So I've never had a problem with this.

Built in App Killer

Is there anyway to modify the built in App killer.. (when you hold the home button and press the garbage can) to where when you kill apps it doesn't kill certain ones?
Thanks!

Yeah when you hold the home button and those apps come up, just slide the ones you want killed off the screen.

There's not a way from what I've seen to be able to ignore certain apps using the default one. Your probably going to need to use a 3rdparty app and just whitelist some apps. I believe battery docotor let's you do it. And you can probably try advanced task killer or even fast reboot. You might just need to spend a good few minutes on the play store and find one that works the way you want.
Can I suggest Greenify, it hibernates the apps and are instantly available when you call on them. Then you do not have to worry about which apps are left running in the background.

The only 3rd party app that's good is greenify.

I was going to make my own thread but I figured I'd just post on this one. What about having the aosp app switcher/killer (whatever it's called, the thing cbass15 asked about) on a tw rom?
I've noticed so many aosp features on tw now I'm starting to feel greedy but I just wanted to know if it was possible

Clear data. Don't give it any info. And make sure to disable all shortcuts for it. That's what I did.

what shortcuts did you delete? can't stop the swipe up feature can we? Because that's super annoying also..

I'm sure a good dev will figure out a way to get rid of it / replace it with Google now. Otherwise I got rid of the home button shortcut.

Easier fix for now is to install an alternative launcher like Nova Launcher.

I use Nova and still get the FC popup. I clear data for Magazine and don't get it for a day or two

I almost did too but it's a pretty cool app and I use it quite a bit. My wife has a Groupon account so I look in My Magazine for Groupon deals.

If you switch to the stock (TW) launcher does it still happen?
Also, in Nova, double tap a home screen to bring up the menu. Scroll to the bottom, tap advanced, tap restart Nova. If that brings them back you likely have an issue with Nova.
Yes...tried that...they just don't want to live here anymore.. I have to go to playstore for the app I want and open it from there....apps are installed but just not in the drawer...they will stay on the home screen if placed there but not in the drawer....never seen this before....no new changes to rom or downloads....weird

I (personally) would make sure my apps are backed up with TiBu and reinstall the rom.
Yeah I agree...just really didn't want to go that way but probably have a glitch....such is the life of a flashaholic...thanks for verifying what I suspected.

One more thing, if you haven't already, make an update zip in TiBu by long pressing the recent apps thing while in TiBu... Not from the menu. It makes a zip that only installs TiBu and its settings not the apps. This is better (imo) as sometimes update zip with apps can be a little squirrely.
When you get it working right let us know.
Good luck!
Cool beans....thanks...will keep you informed...

Factory reset...reflash rom w/o mods...reinstall apps without data...reset previous screen setup....all back...all good now...thx all
