[Q] Display failure - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I go to sleep last night, the phone was in my bed and charging.
This morning the display was black, i think it has crashed and tooked the battery out
It seems to be a display failure, sometimes the white HTC screen was seen, but mostly it went whole black or sometimes white flickering
and on the left side of the display lights up a red led.
Can anyone help me?

SMS Notification on screen when screen is "off"

I'm no developer so i have really no idea if this would work.
But, as this mobile is a AMOLED screen, each pixels are lighted up and so not much battery is drained on a black screen.
What if we could somehow make something when a new sms has not been read and screen turns of, a black screen like this appears
Is something like this possible?
pic example, could even be smaller or just 1 blinking pixel.

I think to display a message on screen the machine would need to be awake, so it would be using more power than with an led notification (afaik the device can normally go to sleep then).
Your idea would still save power over just showing the lock screen though because you are right that using fewer pixels would proportionally reduce power usage of the screen.
I guess the hardest part would be making the device appear off - It would need to ignore screen and button touches (except power).

strange light

Since few days i noticed a strange red light right besides the proximity sensor.it just appeared suddenly n only goes away if i remove the battery.. wht is this red light its not the charging light or notification light coz one its on the right side not the left side and second it doesnt blinku

[Q] HTC switches off and screen brightness not working

Hello,
Yesterday when I was done working and got my phone from my locker, I opened an app and immediately
the screen went black and appearantly the phone had switched itself off. I turned it back on wondering why
it did this, but as soon as it had started up and the home screen appeared, it turned itself right back off.
I tried turning it back on about 7 or 8 times until the battery ran out and I could not try anymore.
When I got home I put it on the charger and fortunately the phone stayed on, however the top of the screen
seemed to be 'trembling' a bit and some pixels were changing from light red to dark red to light red etc. (my home screen is red)
I decided to leave it charging overnight and when I woke up, the trembling had disappeared. I took it off the
charger and after scrolling through my Facebook news feed, found that battery percentage was decreasing quite
quickly considering it's on power saver mode. I thought it might be that the screen brightness is too high, so I went
to settings and tried to adjust the screen brightness, however it is not responding? My screen brightness stays
exactly the same no matter whether I increase or decrease it, and when I was doing that the phone switched itself
off again. I put it back on charge now and turned it back on, but I am quite annoyed about this issue because I
do not know what it is and my phone is only 5 months old. I hope any of you can shed some light on the situation.
Summary of the issues:
- Phone switching itself off
- Screen trembled yesterday
- Battery decreasing quickly
- Brightness setting not working
Info about the phone:
- HTC One X 5 months old
- Android 4.2.2
- No adjustments made to the phone with rooting or any of that
Thanks!
Must be a hardware failure if you havent changed anything software-wise
Is it overheating?
Is it under warranty?
And other sensors are working? But like TTG TriCkSh0tZz said , use your warranty if you can.

[Q] Low brightness leads to greenish screen (8.4)

Hello,
I have found similar threads, but nothing seems to fit for my problem. If there is a thread for this topic, I hope the admins can move this to it.
I bought my Tab S 8.4 two days ago and was very happy with it (except the Play Store error DF BPA-30, which disappeared by now). The problem appears when I use the tab in the dark, after the second night I finally found out why: When the brightness goes below ~15 percent (automatically or manually) the display gets a dark-greenish tone. Full black and other strong colours don't seem to be affected.
A good example is a game I am playing: The red/blue/violet "nebula" turns into a dark green mass as well as the row at the top of the left. When I move around, the green mass "wobbles" too.

Is this normal?
Thanks for your advice!

I don't know if it's normal but I got the same thing. Since I keep my brightness low due to my sensitive eyes, I see it all the time. I have a 10.5 btw.
I haven't posted about it because I figure I may be more sensitive than other people.
Try this: if you have an LCD tablet or phone, place it next to the S on a table in a room with light. Turn OFF both screens. Move around so you are looking at them from different angles. With mine , about 45 degrees off axis, the S screen is clearly tinted a deep green (or if you prefer, the light reflected from the screen is green.) The other screen is black.
Same problem here too...

In my Tab S 8.4, the problem starts only when i shut down or restart the tab... On starting, the Samsung logo doesn't appear on welcome screen and then the display shows a homogeneous greenish hue, more identifiable in low brightness and auto brightness activated devices.. After a few restarts or shutting down the device for 5-6hrs, the display becomes normal on restarting... Interestingly, if you take a screenshot of the greenish display, the picture is perfectly normal when viewed in a normal device or laptop, thus making me believe it to be a display problem, most probably a manufacturing problem...

dim screen on wake up

most of the time when the phone wakes up and the screen stays dim and grey, as if there is a semitransparent picture in front of the screen. I can see the clock and I can unlock it, but everything is dimmed.
If I turn of the screen one or two times, it usually wakes op again without this grey dim sheet and I can use the phone in full brightness.
I turned off auto brightness, but this did not solve the problem. The brightness slider also turns upp the brightness, but it is still about half as dim as it should be.
can anyone help me in finding out why this is happening?
