phone will not go into recovery mode - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

ok so i had posted lat night where for what ever reason after being rooted and having wicked rom running after doing a nandroid back up phone wouldn't go past boot screen. every time i try to go to recovery it shows samsung boot screen and see on top that it is going into recovery mode. after like 2 seconds it reboots and goes back to boot screen. i was able to get into download mode and flashed stock rom in odin. every things works fine as far as that. one strange thing is the phone sd card is pretty much full. i have done a factory reset every thing was back to normal. once again phone memory is full. i have loaded the root file on my ext sd card. load a recovery through odin. that works fine. still won't go into recovery. how can i fix this issue. i really just want the stock rom with recovery and root so i can run a few programs that require root. also how much extra space should i have on the phone memory after loading stock rom back up. any help would be greatly appreciated. btw this is not my first time having a rooted and custom rom phone. i had all that working on my htc amaze 4g.

lol wow. don't know how that worked. every time before when i wanted to get into recovery i held it until it actually went into recovery. thanks:good:

My phone is verizon s4 sch-i545 when I try to boot up in recovery mode it shows booting in recovery but it just boots up normally .I wanted to do a factory reset but the factory reset just restarts my phone and when I try to get into recovery mode for a hard reset I cant boot into recovery mode. I don't know what to do

For recovery, try holding down the volume up, home and power button. Once the phone starts to boot, release the power button only. Keep pressing the volume up and home button. When you see the dead android, release all buttons.

[Q] major confusion

hi all, my wife has been running cm6.1 and lately it has had a few issues, so i go to download through rom manager, it fails downloading several times, download on a computer and transfer it over, boot into recovery through rom manager(i feel retarded for this one... no back up, didnt wipe) and install, well, it goes to the cm boot animation, sits for a long time, then i remember i didnt wipe so i attempt to get back into recovery and wipe, well, some how, the phone managed to go back to the stock recovery... needless to say i became very very confused...
does anyone have any insight?
thanks in advance
If you havent s-off, then you probably will see stock recovery and need to flash the update.zip to get to clockworkmod. I think i remember that right.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
i finally did get cm 7 up and running, and in rom manager it says that i have the latest availible clockwork recovery, but i can only get to it if i rebot to recovery through rom manager, if i go through the boot loader, it takes me to the black screen with the ! in the triangle, then after several button pushes takes me to stock recovery
This happens because ROM Manager reads the altered 'update.zip' from your SD card and it is recommended you use that program (app) to do all your loading and ROM stuff. Though if your phone is powered off you can hold Volume Down and power then after getting to the Triangle "!" screen pressing volume up and power gets you to altered 'update' screen.

[Q] Glide wont reboot stright into Recovery

I am not new to the concept of rooting and loading a custom rom. This is the 3rd android phone that I have bothered with. However it is the first one I have had to use Odin to root or push files to.
I have used CarpeNoctem's writeup on how to root and utkanos' CWMR port writeup. Ofter verifying I had root, I decided I would try out Carpe's OsiMood. No problem right? Here is where I am wondering what if anything went wrong on the previous steps.
I made a back up ofter finally getting it to recovery mode, and when I tried flashing the new rom, it would not complete the process.
As it sits, when I choose recovery from CWM it reboots to the android with triangle screen(see attached video). What concerns me is the lack of fluidity into the recovery, the fact that it loads in only after the battery is removed and the phone is turned back on and lastly that I cannot flash a new rom.
It appears as though I need more posts to add my link for youtube.
Please add standard youtube weblink before this to watch the video.

What would you recommend my first action be?
Thanks,
Steve
This also quite unfortunate for ROM manager, "somewhat", not working fully for the Glide (yet). I can't really go into 3e/CWM recovery with the app, but manually (volume down + power/lock button) has no problems. This also happens on my Captivate (SGH-I896/7), I need to restart the device for a second time to boot into recovery. As per your flashing issues, you might need to mount /system manually and then flash the ROM, when it fails, try and try again, always happens to me from stock rogers ROM. Also, if you have Titanium Backup, it now supports reboot device features (recovery and hard reboot)
Thanks for your insight. I tried volume down and power before but when I saw the samsung logo pop up I figured it wouldn't work.
I will try flashing again and report back. Thanks again.
-Steve
Tried flashing again, worked great. If only the glide had more support. Lol.
Currently running OsiMood.

My glide does not boot. I can get into Download Mode. I can NOT get into de recovery mode. I think my NAND is corrupted.
How can I mount the /system partition? Because I flashed too many roms with ODIN, but nothing, still not booting, I get stuck in the samsung logo.
Use Odin to reflash recovery, you backups should still be there unless like you say maybe they got corrupted as well, but its worth a shot.

I've already flashed the stock recovery, the CWM, a lot of kernels, even I tried to flash the kernel and bootloader of the Galaxy S II, but nothing.
I'm starting to think that maybe is a hardware problem. Hope not, but I'm not moving foward.
If you havent already, pull out the sim and sd card.
Reboot your pc and download a fresh up to date Odin.
So when you flash it says it successful and then just doesnt boot?
I had a boot loop once ,had me stumped and it turned out to be my sd card was poached and caused the loop.

Exactly... It goes all over the process bar, says succesfull, the phone turns off, and nothing. The phone not even restart itself, I have to remove the battery, put it back again, and then it turns on, but just to show me the samsung logo.
I've used the ODIN version 1.85 and the new one 3.04. But nothing. This is so frustating.

Please, tell me there is a solution...
There are one alternative to boot
1. Shut down and then restart phone in recovery mode. For the Samsung Captivate Glide, this required pressing the power, volume down and home keys all at the same time.
2. The initial screen which appears gives you a choice of loading a replacement OS (volume up) or entering recovery mode (volume down). Note you have to hold the volume down key for several seconds before the recovery mode menu appears.

[Q] dead s3?!

HELP! i'm running liquid smooth on my S3 right now. the phone has been having issues, shutting down on its own, and i was going to load the stock rom to send it in for warranty.
the last time i was able to use the phone, a message popped up saying "System UI has stopped working". later on, the phone shut down on its own and when i turn it on, it gets stuck on the liquid smooth boot screen forever. i plug it into the comp, still nothing.
is my phone dead at this pont?! any way i can load the stock rom onto it or get it back to functioning?!! argh!
You can always go to recovery and do a factory reset that should get you booting again with liquid smooth if you want to go back to stock boot into download mood and from your computer Odin back to stock. The links can be found in Android dev section.
To boot into recovery from phone off hold volume up+home+power and to boot to download volume down+home+power
Making the iPhone jealous one user at a time.
Sounds like a framework issues to me. I would backup your ROM and then clean install after factory reset and cache wipe from recovery.

If you can get in to a custom recovery. You can use this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43598518
I use it from time to time. No pc, complete stock totally on the phone itself. You will still need to wipe your internal storage. I do that first.
I use Phil's recovery.

[Q] AT&T GS3 stuck in boot loop can not boot into recovery.

I was running AOKP and wanted to factory reset my phone so i booted in recovery mode and it tells me i reset my phone when i boot it is just as i left it before. When i try and update the ROM in recovery I can't mount my SD card so i cant update. Finally i download an app called "[root] Mobile ODIN Pro". I downloaded the stock firmware and tried installing it. Now my phone constantly boots goes to the Mobile ODIN recovery the screen flashes with text and it turns off and repeats the process. Now when i take out the battery put it back in and hold the volume down, home, and power button nothing happens i just boot into Mobile ODIN recovery again. Same goes with volume up. If i can't boot into upload mode i don't think i can use ODIN on my PC to restore my phone. Did i **** up my phone is there ANY way to fix this?

[Q] T310 Stuck in boot-loop

I had installed 'blackhawks next kernel' for dual-booting.
I had CM11 on partition 1 and Stock Samsung on Partition 2.
I decided I want to simply revert to a single partition with the stock Samsung.
I booted into partition 1.
I used Phils to install 'GT3_MH2_STOCK_Kernel_SM-t310_Tab3.zip'
When the machine rebooted, it jumped into the Cyanogen Mod boot sequence, and just loops.
If I try to turn the machine off to boot into recovery, the Tab doesn't shut down - it just reboots.
Trying to 'time' getting into recovery hasn't netted me much luck with about 20 tries of nailing the 10-second 'hold power button then nail volume up.'
Any suggestions?
Well, I got further.
I found that if I plugged the USB cable into the device into my computer, then pressed and held the power, when it would 'auto-reboot' to the battery icon screen.
Once at the battery icon screen, I unplugged the USB cable and the tablet completely turned off.
From there, I was able to get back to Philz.
So, I guess my new question is: How do I correctly install any kernel other than blackhawks, which would allow me to flash back to a stock ROM?

Do a clean install of stock ROM by going into download mode. Power + Volume down + Home button.

The kernel you installed will only work with stock roms. You still had CM installed as primary rom and attempted to use a stock kernel with it. That's why it wouldn't boot.
You have a couple options now for reverting to stock.
1. Odin - Download and flash a full stock firmware; then boot into recovery and do a factory reset. There are many guides for doing this with Odin. Firmware is available at sammobile.com.
2. Recovery - Download a stock-based rom and flash it in recovery. Make sure you do a full wipe in recovery before flashing. The rom will have a kernel also, so there is no need to flash another one.
