It's a kind of screensaver service I guess
Remember old NOKIA symbian days where we used to get a clock always displayed on the screen for infinite
The feature is a good addon but yes it uses a lot of battery
Thank god we have a option to turn it OFF or ON on our will

Sorry if my statement wasn't 100% clear. What I wanted to say is, that I get this feature with the 4.2.2 update. I'm not sure if this feature was already implemented in the .253 update or the .307 firmware. And I like the preview feature a lot!

For the size of the battery, it seems fine to me. I had a Note and Note 2 before this phone, and they lasted longer but had bigger batteries. I see lots of people thinking they have battery issues, but it's got a 5" screen. LTE is a pig in my experience, so you have to look at things like that.

Welcome

Yes Samsung Note series does definitely win in terms of battery but in many things they are far behind SONY
Hope you are enjoying being with SONY

That's the best part ZL is definitely most compact 5" phone present in market and even smaller than many 4.7" or greater size phones

A new fw update is available. 2.67
Its still 4.2.2 but resolves the screen flickering issue for My Device

Rom Zelly Cream 2.5 user report and troubleshooting

Hello XDA-Dev,
I read for many months in a variety of forums. Since this is my first post I want to thank all these great people here!
Sadly I'm not able to post a comment in the dev-forum. So I'm using the General in the hope of Gagan see it or a kind person copy it in the main thread. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2151648&highlight=best+battery+life+kernel)
You cooked a brilliant Rom,Gagan! I'm overwhelmed! You worry so much about the development. Answer to the questions, concerns and needs of the users. Thanks a lot for this. And these are the reasons I decided to use your Rom now for maybe 3 weeks.
At first the postives:
- it's quite stable and a battery life I never explored before, amazing. best rom I have ever tried!
Problems:
- A hugh problem is that the Walkman stopped and bugged after I updated "musicmall for smart app" in the Playstore. It crashes joining "My music" etc. I really like the new Xperia Player. What I can do?
-- Same time my TuneIn lockscreen control begins to stopp working anymore. That's sad.
- I can switch to 2G by toggling but then my phone receiving strength is gone, I can't use it for calls. How I can use just 2G to save battery; it's a bug? There is or will come a fix?
- Luncher crashs (eg. while using Chrome or my news app)
- Rom lost some smoothness after some weeks.
Suggestions:
- could you incorporate a option (like CM) "save headset sound volume at first plug in"
- Status Bar expanded button is too small for my big hands, could you increase the size?
- contacts with Korean letters sort (currently all names are sorted by "#')
- add CPU profiles manager into this really nice "CPU Control"
- add Profiles (like CM) for Sleep, Home, Work etc
- the new control bar (software buttons) is 50 / 50 good and bad. I hit so often the home button when I write in portrait mode and the software buttons useing space from my screen. But the recent apps and smart app function is really nice! There is a way to have smart apps in a diffrend way? (I know how to add a Toggle for recent apps)
Questions:
- What is "VertifyCertificatesDummyApp Sony Ericsson Media" shows up 4 times in my application's list?
- What is Dolby Mobil?
Phone: Xperia ArcS
Rom: Zelly Cream 2.5
Kernel: Vengeance 1.32
BB: .83
So much things...I;m sorry. I hope you can help! :victory::laugh:
Thanks a lot and have a good time! Keep the good work!
friendly regards, Lemming
Attachments:
1- Available Update invalide Rom-Device combo
2- It's not adding my accounts in here?
3- Why the color is black with a black background in the walkman song name?
4- After the update from "musicmall for smart app" I lost the Walkman SmartApp Icon and got these Icons.

VertifyCertificatesDummyApp Sony Ericsson Media, dunno very strange but you can remove them even if they are system apps...
Dolby Mobile is like an enhancement to boost you music experience...

I'll backup and remove "VertifyCertificatesDummyApp Sony Ericsson Media" by Android Tuner or SD Maiden.

- I do not have any issues with that smart app or Walkman at the moment. Wipe the data of those apps only, maybe it will help.
- Err...never used, no comment on that.
- The signal is lost temporarily, it will come back after few seconds, when phone has fully switched over from 3G to 2G.
- Our phones lack RAM and thereby launcher is closed by Android to free up some memory. The launcher has not been given high priority, so it would not be killed so easily. You can edit it yourself via Supercharger (look on forum).
- Get rid of unnecessary apps
Great! Good hints, I will pursue them.
I'll keep try to find solutions for my walkman issue. Recently I tried AC!D Audio Engine but I didnt worked out like expected. Maybe I'll try jader's Xperia Z Walkman Port with working xLoud. But it's to confusing sometimes, not enough details in the explain - what to delete, how to treat files or options. It's using so much time to try all things themselves. But anyway, I'm willing to learn, and I really do since some months here.
I attached a screenshot. Calling is not working (x) after switch to 2G even after 30min. There is anything to do or its a rom bug?
I'll try supercharger! Thanks for this.
I like all my apps....but I tested a lot of things allready. maybe its time for and reflash rom / kernel.....argg enyoing, all apps and settings again.
Thanks for your kind help!

Does it happen only on this ROM or others aswell? If others aswell, then I feel it is either wrong baseband or your operator does not have 2G coverage.

Well I'm using my phone from Germany in Korea include a new korean contract. So it can be possible. I'm on .83 BB, I'll try 77 in next fresh install.
It does makes such a hugh diffrend in battery drain to go from 3g to 2g? I just read a lot that people go to 2g for saving battery.
honestly, I dont know if its happen on other Roms. A xda member recommended Viper Xperia to me, I'll try and check 2g diffrences!
Thanks for helping! :laugh::good:

Hi,
Battery saving - the single most important thing I learned was to turn off the internet when it's not needed. While it's on, any app can upload data or download when you're not using it. When many apps to that, it burns the battery badly. It's no joke, try it. It makes more of a difference than screen brightness. I have that at almost full and I get 2 days battery because I turn of data when not needed.
Features - The Walkman feature, look in Walkman settings, it should still be there - something like continue playback when headphones inserted. You don't see a flash line when unlocking? Mine does, that's strange.
thanks

[SS/DS] List of bugs present in 4.3 update

Well, we got Android 4.3 in both Xperia M and Xperia M dual, but we also got some bugs in that update, and I want to build a list of these bugs so I can compile a list of possible fixes soon (some of them already have fixes). I have interest only in problem reproducible by all Xperia M/Xperia M dual owners, so, thing like "my battery now is draining faster", "system is slow after the update", will be ignored. So far, searching other threads in XDA and by personal experience with 4.3, I found the following bugs:
Calculator app was replaced by AOSP one, which is ugly since it doesn't fit with the new UI
Themes engine is broken. You can download themes but you can't install them
Cost Saving Options that were present in the stock SMS app from 4.1.2/4.2.2 firmware are gone in 4.3 update
[Xperia M dual only] Mobile data traffic arrows are misplaced, overlapping with the network signal bars (see attachment)
These aren't bugs, but things that may be enhanced:
Although the new camera app is compatible with Social Camera extensions, we don't have the option to search for more addons
Some menus in the settings app still uses the old black style instead of the new white style
Fixed Conversations.apk || StatusBar Network in/out
I am here with fixed cost savings option in Conversations.apk of Google_Android_4.3 for Xperia™ M Single Sim.
Dual Sim version will be up by tonight.
Dual Sim version uploaded.
Check attachment for download.
Also activated the option to send a blank message if needed.
I have changed the in/out arrow from white to blue so that they are visible in dual sim status-bar.
I don't have the 4.3 firmware flashed so can not test this.
Test and report if it works or not.
Guys please test and report if the mods work or not?
I hope I do not need to post the steps to perform in order to use these.

I dont get it, why are so many people butt-hurt about the calculator app being changed with the aosp one. Who uses the calculator on their phone anyways. If u do, why would you care what it looks like, functionality is what matters, or am i wrong?

Put the AOSP calculator (which is entirely black) in the new UI (where almost all menus are white) and you'll get something very ugly. I already deodexed the official Sony calculator from Z1c 4.3 FW, but I have to test it. I'll start working with these bugs after I finish the bug fixes I need to do to the root method...
List of bugs noticed on my xperia M running 4.3:
- The home and recent app buttons sometimes just dissapear
- Lag after waking up the phone from stand by/idle/locked screen
- The email app does not load emails everytime - tested on data service and wifi
The camera is a big improvement, the new interface for the contacts app too.

Well 4.3 in my opinion does not have better ui as white ui is nice but not so good
v4.2.2 was far much nice in looks of it
coloring of themes so rough
white line in notification when pull down
dialer also looks bad black and white color like its a black and white phone
also pin lock it was so smooth and nice in v4.2.2 only numbers but now it shows alphabets in it
with numbers

Guys I am back with another fix...
This fix corrects the data in out arrows in Dual 4.3 firmware.
It will also fix few Xperia themes errors.
Goto /system/vender/overlay/
Select and delete each and every apk there.
Restart your mobile and enjoy the fix.
Note: Deleting com.android.systemui-res.apk will do the job but I recommend to delete all the apps so that xperia themes work well.

4.4.2 Review and Recommended Apps+Mods+Wallpapers+Guides(UPDATED On 6/20/14)

Perfomance
Using My phone with 4.4.2 for about 2 days,I must say the overall smoothness and fluidity as compared to 4.1.2 has been greatly improved. Stability of the system has been increased, no lag at all.. as far as the benchmarks goes, I have been getting low scores as compared to 4.1.2(samples in attachments)
Battery
You can say that Battery timing has been improved in kitkat, I managed to get almost 4 and a half hour of screen on time whereas on jellybean I usually got maximum 4 hours with the same usage(samples in attachments)
I think that the Camera has also improved..
One more thing Battery Gets charged quickly as compaed to 4.1 with same charger..
I have not yet rooted my phone or installed any thing to save battery and during testing ECO mode was not enabled.

Well more than knock off i was interested in having knock on feature to turn the screen on...because it's a pain to turn the screen on every time by pressing the power button which is oddly located and i am wary of it breaking it sometime due to the constant use...

Hi bro where can I get the link for F180L kitkat KDZ ?

[Q] How is your experience with Nougat so far?

Hello all,
As the title says, what is your opinion about Nougat? After reading so many bug related posts here and in reddit, im frustrated to update to the newest version of android. How does it compares to marsmalow in terms of battery, performance and bugs? Is it safe to update now, of do your suggest to wait a little longer for a bugfix update? And finally, if your suggest me to update, do your recomend any custom rom/ kernel?
Thanks in advance.
Fine, I love my 5X, but there are some bugs that I have:
*In Whatsapp audios or call if I put my face in the phone (or simple if I cover the distance sensor) the screen goes black and I can't turn on again...maybe if a press the power button 3 times the screen turns on. that is REALLY annoying!, I dont know if is a software problem or if my tempered glass is the real problem...
*The screen rotates very easy...sometimes I move my phone just a little and the screen rotates...
*When screen turns off it doesnt fade "slowly"...its something cosmetic but I dont like it haha

Hm, i dont use whatsapp so i dont mind if there is a bug about it. Do you have the same problem during calls too? Also, what about battery and performance?
I have these bugs:-
1. I have a problem with the battery percentage toggle, i change it to like "everytime" but sometimes it auto switches back to "only when charging", in 6.0.1 there was only an option to show percentage which worked fine.
2. I also have a problem after sep security update the swipe up from overview to open multiwindow doesnt work, it is on in the settings tho, it worked on the first 7.0 aug security one but now it doesnt.

This features disable automatically when you go to System ui tuner. Just enable it and don't touch this settings.
Also, I have a bug with double icon of alarm clock in status bar, like on screenshot. Reboot can fix it.

I used it since 12 september. Yes, good launcher, but I installed it as apk, so google now doesn't work.

I think i can live with a few bugs. What about the more important things like battery life and performance? How do they compare to marsmalow?

I recently reverted back to marshmallow, I was getting horrible battery drain. Like 10℅ an hr while in my pocket. I had to leave it on battery saver mode if I wasn't going to be near a charger. But besides that it's awesome, love all the new features.

For me, unlocking the device harder. I have to swipe further in order to do it, and it also happens when I want to swipe a notification at the lock screen.
In addition Spotify song playing from google now through an Android Wear does not work unless the Nexus is unlocked.
Finally, battery life is not really god in my case.
After reading your replies, i decided to stay in marsmalow for a couple of months. Thanks everyone
It's only been a couple days for me but everything is working well on the stock OTA update so far.
I like the new features and Doze is working brilliantly again so there is a noticable improvement to battery life.
