Sms/mms turns screen on??? - LG Optimus G Pro

So ive been trying to find the setting to disable this. Ive pocket dialed the police at work twice and had to disable my pattern lockscreen because of it. And as I do online banking this is not an option lol. Ive checked every setting I can think of and even disabled the little quick reply popup and nothing. Anyone got any ideas?

I used a 3rd party sms that lets me disable the screen coming on. I use chompsms and I think it works for your purpose
edit...I thin my screen doesn't come on because I have the folio case that keeps the screen off until I open the cover. maybe try a proximity app to keep the screen off while in your pocket

Vibration for notifications

I searched and could not find anything regarding changing the vibration pattern for an all stock note 2. Mine will only vibrate in a single long pattern, no matter what I set it to in the settings. I like to use the stock messaging because it's compatibility with the lock screen but I'd really like it to vibrate in a couple short pulses instead of that single long one. If I'm missing something I apologize but I have no idea what to change aside from the options in the settings menu. Any help or other information would be much appreciated, I'm sure it's something silly I'm missing anyway!
Go to settings- sounds-device vibration u can chabge it to a few different patterns

Same problem for me, and it's super frustrating. Is this specific to the AT&T version I wonder??

I am not sure! That is how the note 1 default notification vibrate was, the single long pulse. The sms mms one was a quick twin pulse, I'd prefer that! I like how the sms app works with the tw lock screen and launcher etc so I don't want to use another one if I can avoid it. I wish it would allow me to use a different vibration setting because my phone is silent a lot! I asked samsung and they gave me the ringtone answer. The service from the online chat is weak.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I downloaded the app and tried to set it up but it wanted to stop air view in the process. A related application was there

[Q] Vibration pattern on text messages

Is there a way to change the vibration pattern on text messages? I have the pattern changed successfully for calls, but I cannot change it on messages. It's still just one big long vibration...Not great.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
You can use light flow to change the vibration patterns.

I finally got a chance to check out lightflow. It has WAY more options than I'm looking for. I just want to change the vibration pattern associated withe text messaging. Is there anything native to the phone? Or a simpler way?
Thanks!

Thanks again!

[Q] Screen keeps waking up when I get a text message

Hello,
I have not been able to find any place to disable the screen waking up for 2-3 seconds after I receive a SMS text message. It doesn't do this for facebook, for email, for MMS, but everytime I get an SMS it wakes up which I want to stop it doing.
Anybody know where the option to turn this off is?
Side notes: I have my lockscreen disabled
disable notifications under the sms app.

How is that heloful? He's asking about stopping the screen from turning on, not the entire notification. Op as of now I don't think we can. I think I had heard a while back of an app that stopped the stock sms from turning on the screen but I can't remember at this time the name of the all

I need an answer to this aswell
You have to use another SMS program (like from play store) and disable the default, or root and use the modded apk which allows for this option to be selectable

I solved this problem using Gravity Box, in General fixes -> Fix messaging wakelock.
Good Luck.

SMS & screen on

Can someone tell me if there is a way to stop the screen from turning on when I get an SMS as well as stopping the SMS from appearing on the lock screen? It's very annoying and I'm sure over time it cuts into battery life.
Thanks.
Msg. Setting.

Settings in message app and uncheck preview message.
Theres no way to prevent the screen from waking i dont think...custom roms only.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the replies. I'll have to wait for a ROM then.
Thanks again.
Problem is with preview unchecked you still get a box on your lock screen minus the text info. I believe it just says "message".

chomp
use chomp sms. its quite fast, more customizable than the stock messaging app and actually has an option from preventing the screen wake. i cant say for the other sms applications though, but chomp is good
I have been using Go SMS for years. I really like the customization and settings. You can turn off stock notifications and eliminate the screen wake issue.

Request: a type of screenlock

I was looking at the screenlock app from the xda front page, and toyed with it a little, however, it made me wonder if anyone knows of, or can make an app that disables everything put the dialer?
I hate letting my kids use my phone because I never know what they are gonna snoop thru or if someone is going to send me something I wouldnt want them to see, it would be great to be able to lock out everything but the dialer in this type of situation... any thoughts?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can use an app that locks out other apps. That way you can lock the apps you don't want your kids having access too, then disable SMS notifications and they will never read them or see them.
