GPS on Stock TW - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all,
I was on CM for a while rooted and GPS worked with no issues at all.
I want to get the phone back to clean stock.
Triangled away,
Used odin to flash stock rom (UDLK3), wiped / reset everything.
everything is working except GPS does not lock, no GPS icon or anything.
GPS Test apps show no satellite fixes.
Here is what i have tried already:
Used GPS Test app to clear GPRS data and Request New - NO GO
Went to Settings
Application manager
Went to Google services framework
cleared data
Went to settings
Application manager
Went to maps
cleared data
uninstalled Map updates
Went to location services
turned off all location services
Powered cycled the phone
updated maps from android market,
Activated GPS and location services,
tested -- NO GO
Any help on how to get this fixed?
I'm in desperate need to get this phone working clean.
thank you

Woa Thank you dude! you saved my @ss,
I used the very first 'common fix"
Enter the Samsung service mode by typing this code into the dial pad *#197328640#
Then go to Mainmenu>UMTS>Common>NV REBUILD>NV REBUILD> (Important: don't exit the menu yet!)
Wait 30+ sec
Long press power button and select "Restart / Reboot"
Now check your GPS from any software that may use GPS like "Maps" or "GPS Status"...
and it worked!
thank you again both of you!

No problem I've been there before I guess it happens from switching between aosp and then back to Tw also when you flash multi carrier ROMs

Thanks for the quick reply man, flashing as we speak; haven't updated my ROM in ages Will report back any findings.
edit: Apart from some text to speech crashes, everything's peachy so far
so far so good gooodwork!
flashed, no problem so far (except the known issues). No lag wake or delayed-until-wake SMS seen, but i've just flashed the ROM for 12 hours so I can say that they are reduced, but i'm not sure if they are fixed or not. I prefer the old style quick setting button, but this is good tho
Wow, I was surprised at how functional this was for how new the thread is.Everything I've tried has worked with no issue (basic functions, data, a2dp bluetooth, sd card, wifi, gps). going to try and Wifi tether and actually trying to use the "phone" functins when I get a chance.
One thing so far, I don't think this has been said, is that the recents takes forever to pop up (like 6-7 seconds!). I tried remapping it away from the home button, but it still didn't speed up.
Also, where do I customise those handy shortcuts in the recents? and wtf is a ribbon?
it looks like there's some problem with the WiFi toggling.
Action: pressing the WiFi button on quick setting panel and the quick pulldown menu
Expected result: the button flipped and show the new icon indicate that the WiFi has been turned on
Actual result: the button flipped, but the icon is still the old one (it's the icon when WiFi is off)
I tried going to setting and press the WiFi button, it switched from "Off" to "On" and stayed there for about 10 seconds, then switched bak to "Off" again.
It's pretty rare 'cause I only met this twice after 2 days using, a reboot will solve the problem.

Question for you, since I am currently running PAC do I need to do a complete wipe/reset prior to flashing this update?

better, but not must.
Phone app changed, so you must remove shortcuts and readd.
Bug: when you try to use the navbar widgets, the system UI get crash.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
Today I got a lot of "Cell Broadcasts" messages, contents are unreadable (only weird symbols), this ended after a reboot, anyone ?
BTW, when plugin in the charger while the phone is off it displays a charging icon (a circle with a battery), normally it will automatically turns on the phone when the battery reaches - let's say - 15%. But to this ROM it doesn't, I have to do a manual reboot.

Follow these steps :
1. Enter Engineering Mode by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*
2. Once you are in the Engineer mode, you should go to “Location” and then to “Location Based Services”
3. Now, tap on EPO and check that “Enable EPO” is enabled and then press on “EPO IDLE”
4. “EPO IDLE” will change to “EPO DOWNLOADING” (Wifi connection required)
5. Once EPO DOWNLOADING changes back again to “EPO IDLE” press back and enter into YGPS
6. In the YGPS you will need to press on “Hot”, “Full” and “AGPS Restart”
Now you should find that it is faster and more precise!!
Press thanks if Helped !!:good:

Tmobile Galaxy Note 3 Can't Get / No GPS Lock After Lollipop Upate

My phone finally updated to Lollipop about 2 weeks ago and ever since then, I can't get a GPS lock anymore?

Reset & Download GPS assistance data using GPS Status app
My phone isn't rooted. I have no idea what else to do?
Here you go this is worked for me.
Open Phone, as if you were going to make a phone call and dial -
*#9090# (*#197328640# if that doesn't work)
Menu, select Key Input, enter Q
Menu, select Key Input, enter 0000
wait for the next menu. (It takes a while.)
UMTS->COMMON->NV REBUILD->NV REBUILD->SYSTEM->PROTOCOL->GPS->IMS
or, if you don't have UMTS:
UE SETTINGS & INFO->SETTING->SYSTEM->NV REBUILD->ALL

Does your wifi toggles keep repeatedly flashing and turn off. Test my method!

My LG G4 started acting really weirdly and the WiFi would randomly turn off as well as repeatedly flash so i tried this and it began to work perfectly.
1. Go on to dialer
2. Type this code *#546368#*815# in
3. You will enter the secret menu
4. Then click on Field Test
5. Scroll down to wifi test and click on it
6. Then select OTA settings and press enable.
7. Now test wifi
I am not responsible if your phone breaks or something etc.
I really hope it works for you but I can not guarantee it. Let me know if it works for you!:good::fingers-crossed:

Firmware Update to Marshmallow - GPS Stopped Working

Hi!
I've made a post in the Asus forum, with no luck and I found this page where you seem more technical :
Two days ago I downloaded the Android MM 6.0 update from the Asus Homepage downloading the version WW-4.21.40.144 , since I live in Brazil and the phone was bought here. I followed all the steps one by one till it got updated.
The problem is, since then my GPS is not working (Waze, Googlemaps ans several apps).
I tryed:
1. Giving all permissions of location to the apps
2. Puting the settings in High Accuracy
3. Restarting the phone several times.
4. Switch on and off Airplane mode and 2G 3G ands 4G (I read sometimes its interference from that)
5. Waiting almost an hour with the phone outside (sunny day) to see if it detects the satellites.
6. Every app inthe appstore that promise GPS Fixing (reseting, A-GPS and all kind of tests. Funny thing, the sensor IS working acording to those apps.
7. Factory Reset
8. Factory Reset and Erase Cache from the bootmenu. (as indicated in the Asus Forum)
9. Downgraded to Lolipop again. WW-52.20.40.196
10. Again every app to reset the GPS.
Nothing worked.
To my surprise, now I have Lolipop and no GPS. So back to basics but, worst.
The Asus forum told me to Update to the latest version, which I did:
1. Updated my phone with the latest MM version. 4.21.40.223.
2. Put the location options in "High Accuracy" and permissions needed for the apps.
3. As the old software was installed after that, I tried Waze. No GPS Signal was found.
4. Did a factory reset.
5. Put the location options in "High Accuracy" and permissions needed for the apps
6. Installed the apps GPS Toolbox and Waze again, the both can't find a GPS signal. I left the phone outside for 10 minutes.
7. Tried to install the version UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.198-user by bootloader, but it says it cannot update to an older version, which sounds about right. (I had to try)
What else can I do? I don't mind going back to Lolipop, but when I did GPS didn't work.
Is there any chance the new Update wrote something apart from software in the chipset that cannot be undone?
Help please, I really need the GPS!
Phone not rooted.
Thanks!
Juan
After long hours of searching, reading and trying I got it fix. How?
0. Have a full charged battery or have your phone plugged to the wall (except for the USB stuff on step number 2, obviously)
0.1. Make backups of all the info in the phone, because everything is going to be erased.
1. Download the version WW-52.20.40.196 from Asus website.(unless you need the other like CN, JK, etc, see Asus site to be sure)
2. Copy it to the internal storage of your phone in the root of it (not in any folder), via USB.
3. Get to the boot loader (Turn off phone and once is off, push the power button with the Up volume one until it vibrates 2 times. Release only the power button until the menu appears) - Search the forum for more details.
4. Select "Recovery Boot" with the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm.
The next steps are all in the Recovery Menu (once it finishes every step it goes back to the original menu, no alerts, sounds or nothing. So check every now and then)
5. Make a Wipe/factory reset, and wait, it takes some time. (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
6. Make a Wipe of the cache. (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
7. Install update from Internal storage selecting the name of file you copied on step number 2 (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm). It will take a while.
8. Reboot the system (use the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm)
It will restart with the phone in the Lolipop version and the GPS working fine. Even after the Lolipop updates.
Marshmallow update has a bug, that at least with my phone the GPS doesn't work. Tried reinstalling marshmallow latest version after the GPS got fix, just to prove the point, and in fact, it stopped working again.
Then I did all the steps above again and went back to normal again.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO UPDATE TO MARSHMALLOW WITH THE ACTUAL FIRMWARE VERSIONS AVAILABLE.
I also had this problem with Marshmallow ROM, as the GPS is not working in terms of unable to locate any signal from satellites.
However, I also solved the problem with a method sounds very silly.
I turn on my GPS overnight using an application called GPS Status.
The night I turn it on, it was locating 0 satellite (it will write 0/0 SAT). However in the morning, I found that the GPS is now working, locking on 8 out of 24 discovered satellite (it wrote 8/24 SAT).
Now my GPS is working seamlessly.
Thanks! I will try it next weekend. I need my phone this week. Hahaha
I ll post when I do so.
Do you know other similar cases of people who did that and worked?
The thing is, now I have Lollipop again an I noticed how slow the system is running with applications. I d love to have the update, but not sacrificing the GPS
I decided I won't make the test because it doesn't justify the risk and time.
I'll wait for a newer update or just stay with Lollipop.
Just to let you guys know in case someone was waiting for this
I downloaded GPS Status as suggested by SleepingAran and ran it once. Now my Waze is working seamlessly. Thanks!
There's another simple solution that works:
Follow exact steps:
1. Turn on location and set high accuracy mode
2. Open google maps
3. Move your phone several times in the shape of 8 (8-10 times should be enough)
4. Close google maps and clear it from recents screen
5. Start google maps again. Profit
