help please!!!! :"((( - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I flashed a rom (yes it was for the proper device) and I followed everything step by step. My phone went into a bootloop where it vibrates and the samsung logo pops up then it turns off and starts over again. I turned off the phone and tried to go into recovery mode but it just shows the TWRP screen and then go into the bootloop again. I also tried going into download mode to odin back to stock but my device isn't even recognized even after installing kies. what can i do???

What model device do you have?
What rom did you flash?
What rom did you start with?
Did you recently flash anything else?
What steps did you follow when you flashed?

I have the T-mobile SGH-T999. I was flashing the latest version of universe s4 for the sgh-t999 and i was coming from stockorama_v2, i had not recently flashed anything either. I went into recovery (TWRP), did a factory reset and then flashed universe s4 and got stuck in a bootloop. I've flashed a bunch of times before but never had this happen =/ now my device isn't even recognized even after installing the drivers....

remove your battery and try to get into recovery, wipe everything, try to reflash, then wipe again. might help not sure. but if you can get into download mode for your device to be recognizable i think you have to uninstall the kies drivers

Instead of trying to flash cwm, try flashing the root66 firmware.

Also, uninstall kies and the drivers. Then try one of the driver versions in my sig.
If you have kies installed that may be causing odin problems.

Reinstall the drivers for this device, a simple google can give you following information:
This is a Windows device driver error. As device drivers can be used anytime your computer is trying to use a hardware resource, it can be difficult to tell which process is causing the error. If you notice the error when trying to do a specific task, identifying the source of the problem may be easier. For detail, see error.info/windows/driver-18.html

[Q] bricked phone, ideas?

Bricked my phone today. When powered on it freezes on the splash screen. Will boot into download mode but will not connect to Odin (my first choice for reflashing a rom/kernel to fix it). Will boot into stock recovery but everything I've tried flashing fails signature verification.
Anyone have a link or can point me in the direction of something I should be able to install via the stock recovery?
Earlier leaked version would let u flash from stock recovery but on fc05 its a no go. U gonna have to odin the stock el29 or eg30. If ur pc don't recognize your phone other option mobile Odin its 4.99 in the market.
It would be lot easier if u mention what rom or recovery up running?

Are you sure you have the right drivers installed on ur PC? After that try diff USB ports or a new cable.

Yeah mobile odin is a no go bc it won't boot past the splash screen. A couple of the older stock leaks will flash from stock recovery though? I'll have to try that.
Tried wiping repeatedly, still stalls.
I've reinstalled the drivers a couple of times, literally tried 4 different cables & every USB. Phone is recognized by computer when it's stalled on the splash screen, just not in download mode.
thanks all for the input!

Help Please: Phone not booting up

Strange thing happened to my phone yesterday night. I was watching netflix for a while and after some time the screen just went blank. I am not able to restart the phone. It got struck in the kernel bootup(Darkside kernel, TDJ's darkside rom) and it was restarting again and again till i remove the battery.
I am able to get into recovery mode but not able to restore any of my backup's. It just went blank during restoring system. I tried installing the same ROM(Darkside Digitsl warfare v2.5.1) from my internal SD card but it just went blank after some time. I tried the juggernaut-5 . It didnt throw up any error but when i restart it its again displaying the darkside kernel and boot looping.
Any one can you please help me to get out of this mess. I need to travel on Monday so desperately need my phone fixed before that. Please help. I have not installed anything new over the last 1 month and didnt have any problems till now. Thank you
System Details:
ROM: Darkside Digitsl warfare v2.5.1
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7

Try it again. The phone has to be in download mode before you plug it into the computer. And are you flashing it as PDA? People have reported it taking a couple tries.
Usually if you can get into download mode you can fix it. If you're stuck and your computer won't recognize your phone, try getting back into download mode. If you're sending it in for repair anyways, it's better to have a full brick so they can't see that you rooted.
Another option if you can't get into download mode, buy a USB Jig, they are usually less than $10 and they can sometimes get you back into download mode.

So Am i good for an warranty exchange? or will samsung would be able to know i installed custom roms. In the ODIN mode it still shows custom binary mode as NO.
The strange thing is i didnt do anything on my phone for last 1 month. The only thing i could think off is, one of scheduled titanium backup ran at 3.00 AM when i was in netflix with the phone charging, and i got a msg that the backup failed. When i woke up it started boot looping. And during the ODIN i tried today, I was making sure i am doing right by following the guidelines(ODIN back to stock).
I have all my nandroid backups(different rom versions) & titanium backups, will i be able to use it in my new phone after rooting with the same recovery version?
Thank you. I really appreciat all your help.

Are you running Odin as administrator?
Manually download the device drivers from the how to root thread and install them on your computer. right click on Odin and run as administrator. Open the stock rom file in the PDA field and run it.. There is no reason it shouldn't work if you can get into download mode.
Try downloading the stock rom again, maybe it's a bad download.

PLEASE HELP possibly soft bricked

I accidently wipe my phones internal storage including backups, Im running latest TWRP and it wont read my sd card. I have a custom rom on the sd card but i cant access via recovery. phone boots to recovery and even download mode but i dont think my usb debug is checked and i cant get thru with odin. Im crunched for time as my wife is coming home in an hour and she will be furious if i bricked my phone i need help restoring before she gets home. thanks.
Heres how I fixed the problem, it was easy after doing but confusing getting there. Since the phone would not boot past the galaxy s3 screen there was no way for me to select USB debugging. That option totally did not allow me to use the Galaxy S3 toolkit listed in android development nor could I select and run any of their lists of "Root" roms because something would happen where ODIN didnt boot it correctly. It ran it at first then "Boot" came on then "Reset" came on then "Pass" came on but nothing ever took. I went to samsung-updates.com selected the ICS factory rom and saved it to desktop. Then I unzipped that rom to unveil the TAR file and flash that via Odin and Bam it ran thru no problems. The problems I ran into earlier were links from other posts and it turned out they were either bad links or not for the phone. I actually tried one guys download link that claimed to be specifically for the T999 us version and it turned out to be for another phone all together Im just lucky that flash didnt brick my device even more. Anyways Odin was my friend it was just a matter of downloading the "Correct" rom. thanks to all that helped I appreciated you all taking the time to answer.
I would download this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682. You should be able to use your PC to flash your Nandroid, although i have never done that.
It doesn't matter if USB debugging is checked if the phone is off.
when i boot to recovery it boots to manual mode anyone know what to do next?
You can flash stuff from your computer in download mode through Odin. I hate doing it myself, but will try to look it up for you

Found a rom and a kernel in the development section and ran it thru odin and it still didnt take. I noticed that the rom flash thru odin only took about two minutes and not once did i see where the modem cycle was being applied. Still no luck for me. [Q] Possible bricking. Recovery methods and alternatives?

Much like the others here I rooted my T-mobile galaxy s3. The root worked fine and all. Then I downloaded this font changer app (I forget the name but it required a root) I go on to select a font then I go on to reboot like it said. Then bam, my phone gets stuck on the samsung screen. I then proceeded to use odin to put the stock image back on it (I think that's what it's called) It went through. I also did the factory wipe via the recovery screen. But now my phone would turn on, show "Samsung Galaxy S3," go to a black screen, play the t-mobile jingle, and the only thing that happens is the LED flashes but still nothing on the screen. I've tried virtually everything and I still think there is something else I need to do.
Help please?

The problem is that he may be rooted but doesn't have cwm recovery.
If that's the case then you need to flash cwm recovery first.
I would also try flashing stock rom again or after flashing cwr download nandroid backup of stock rom.

That sounds like a reasonable solution. Can I get a link to the CWM recovery file as well as a guide to it so I don't dig myself into a deeper hole? lol
Actually if you're stock recovery, factory reset should wipe everything. Including internal sd, just so you know.
If that doesn't work it'd probably be cleaner to just odin the root66 fw. But if you prefer the other way, you can find recovery files at the top of post 2 in the fw thread. Root66 is at the top of post 1.
I still need to add a few recoveries so if you don't see one you want let me know.

Hey guys,
Was trying to root my stock T-Mobile Galaxy S3, and everything was going fine but after it rebooted from Odin, the screen stayed black, and only the blue LED was pulsing. I assume it has something to do with my phone being on 4.1.1 and the S3 toolkit not liking that. I tried to flash the stock Rom to get it out of this, but now the same thing is still happening. I have tried multiple cache wipes/factory resets and multiple other stock ROMs. I always without fail get the same thing Samsung splash screen/Blue pulsing LED/start up sound and black screen. I'm getting really frustrated and worried. Can anyone help?

That's actually the exact problem I just solved. You would need Odin 3.04 (well that's what I used) and you need to flash root66 like one of the previous posters here said. It recovered my phone AND rooted it. So try that and tell us what happened.

When I try the root66 it fails in odin. I used the root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA one. First, I had toolkit convert it into a .tar. Then I chose option 8 to flash a stock rom. Actualy I don't use toolkit so I might be wrong, but I don't think you need to convert root66 to tar. Just skip the toolkit. Put your phone into download mode, open odin, connect your phone to pc and flash root66. Check root66 thread for some info about unziping it or converting to anything. All info should be in op. If there is nothing about it then flash it as it is. Make sure that you have phone drivers installed and turn off kies.
I hope it helps.

If there is nothing about it then flash it as it is. Make sure that you have phone drivers installed and turn off kies.
I hope it helps.

I've just checked root66 thread. You don't have to convert it or unzip it. Just flash as it is. Your problem might came from converting that file to tar.

Actually I was a bit wrong, like DocHoliday wrote, you just have to unzip it and use tar.md5 file inside. The rest is as I wrote before.
Good luck and let us know how it went

Did the same thing
I did the same thing. I used the toolkit and was distracted by my son which ended up in me skipping over areas I thought I read and missed the part about JellyBean creating soft-brick.. It did install CWM though . Low and behold, I soft-bricked my phone with the pulsing blue LED from HELL. I kept having issues flashing everything, luckily the toolkit DID install CWM for me which was of no help. When I used Odin 3.0.4 it worked flawlessly with the stock rooted t999 rom which I have attached along with Odin 3.0.4.
Here is how to fix your soft-brick with the black screen and blue LED from hell:
1.) Download files attached and EXTRACT > root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.7z AND Odin_3.0.4_Files.zip
2.) Boot into download updates screen by pressing and holding Home Button, Volume Down Button, and Power Button at same time until you boot into downloading updates screen.
3.) Plug in your phone to your pc
4.) Open Odin 3.0.4 make sure Auto Reboot and F . Reset Time are checked
5.) Click the PDA button at the right, select boot-stock-tmobile-sgh-t999
7.) Click the START button.
8.) Repeat Steps 2-4
9.) Click the PDA button at the right, select root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5
10.) Click the START button and you should see it install things you never saw before like BOOT, SYSTEM, MODEM, etc. (not in that order) at the top left where it shows installation progress (that little green rectangle)

[Q] S2X doesn't start

Hi, I have a SGH-T989D. Today, I edited build.prop to change phone model to S3 (SGH-I747M), in order to watch mobile TV (long story). However, when tried to reboot device, it doesn't start (actually screen just shows logo for a while, and turns to blank). I also have tried to take battery off and turned it again, but it is same situations over and over. Did I brick the phone? Please help. Many thanks!
No it's not bricked try wiping cache and dalvik then reboot. Else flash backup if you have one.

Thank you! But, my phone doesn't turn on. Can I still be able to do "wiping cache and dalvik"?

As long as you can make it to the logo you can restart it. Do you have cwm or twrp recovery? If not do know how to get into download mode? What you did is soft bricked your phone. It can be fixed though.

Hi, did "Wipe catch/Dalvik catch", but device still doesn't boot. My phone is running stock ROM, but just rooted. I didn't "back-up" when I rooted the phone. Any further solution? Many thanks!
Try this web site galaxys2root.com and look for how to unroot unbrick and follow the instructions.
Hope this help

Hi,
The easiest way to fix it is reinstall firmware using odin. Remember after this you need to root the phone again (that's easy)
Download the firmware specific for your device from samMobile. http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3
Flash it using odin. You can find information on how to use odin here on XDA. Just Search for it.
After flashing is done set up the phone and root it again.

Install drivers for phone to computer. Install odin. Then turn on phone power button in and both volume up and down at same time until download mode appears on screen select yes to enter download mode . Hook phone to computer via usb cord. Open odin you should see com7 or whatever port you have it hooked in. Download any sgh-t989 odin zip. Some are gb some are ics etc. Extract the tar file to computer then place it to PDA in odin. Hit start odin should read tar and begin process of installing it to phone. You should see the progress in the top box on left. It should take 5-8 mins approx. Then phone will reboot into new rom. After this unplug phone you should be good to go.

Thanks all! Will try it when I get time.
Finally, I brought my phone back. Appreciated all of you help. Now, one more question, if someone can help me out as well: what it is the safe way to modify phone model on build.prop file? I used "ES File Explorer", and ended up with above situation. I just changed ro.product.model. Thanks.
