[Q] Still no way no pass the no to yes on Bootloader? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

So, 1 year and a half since the phone was released and, as far as i know, there's no way to unlock the bootloader when it says "NO". Blame Sony, i'm selling my phone, i can't do anything with my phone, i'm limited to the sony roms with lots of bugs.
I'm i wrong or thereĀ“s a way to unlock the bootloader (no - yes)
Who think the same way about sony?

i have an lt26i/xperia S.
The reason why i'm complaining it's because in any other phone bought locked to a carrier, is quite easy to unlock it, and with the xperia S there's no way! and the phone is getting old (beggining of 2012)

"1-First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device by checking the service menu.
2-In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu. If you have a tablet, click here to learn how access the service menu.
In your device, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked."

that's why i'm so mad, in almost all other phones it's possible ...

there are also other phones which cannot be unlocked. for example the newer build version of the atrix/photon.
if you are not satisfied with the phone, sell it and get a new phone without a contract deal. sounds hard...or you wait until Sony has fixed most of the bugs one day.

before the xperia s, i had one xperia arc, with carrier lock, also with a no on the bootloader ... in 10 minuts a developer named alejandrissimo solved the problem ...
but as you said, i'm goong to sell the phone and buy a new one, maybe the oppo find 5, more development friendly

Yeah they found an exploit with the test point that was on the phone and when you perform the unlock with Alejandrissimo he has you ground the test point and they were able to rewrite the bootloader=no. Unfortunately the test points don't exist anymore (at least as we know them) and they also locked down the Sony S1 server that was also used to perform sim unlocks and bootloader=no changes. As far as I know no one has been able to get back in the the S1 server for like a year now
If someone can find an exploit for the S1 server again and get back in there we can probably change bootloader=no for every Xperia. Ion, Go, T, TL, Z, ZL, and any other new carrier lock phone...

[Q] I need to make sure that an Xperia s device is fully functional

I have a chance to buy a used Xperia S, So If you guys know anything I can do to test the phone, I want to make sure that everything is functional, considering the low price I'll be getting, I'm a bit suspicious, So Please tell me how to test the device?
Just check if the bootloader is unlockable, there isn't much else to test

Isn't there any way to check the phone functionality like camera, Speaker, touch sensitivity, connectivity and such Of course I'll check if the boatloader is unlockable
But i wanted to test the phone, If there isn't such utility should i just use it heavily to check every thing
I have like 3 days to check it, So I can return it in 3 days if there is something wrong with it.

Yes there is a way to test functions of phone.
From the dialer screen dial *#*#service#*#*
Then use service test. All phone functions should have self tests here

or if youre wondering dial *#*#7378423#*#*, its the same as above post.

[Q][S]Unlock bootloader allowed: No

Hello. I recently bought my first xperia, the xperia S.
Noticed after I bought it from an auktion site that I can't unlock the bootloader. I asked the carrier if they could unlock it and sony as well. No solution
Are there any development going on to solve this problem? I've heard that the Sony signature server is offline so i guess paid services are out of the question.
I also think that this problem deserves more attention. I'm sure there are alot of people like me out there suffering while their fingers are burning to be able to install new kernels and obviously cyanogenmod...

Lots of people with the same locked bootloader all looking for a way to unlock it, lots of people have worked on it too, all to no avail.. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137561 or wait a few days for XSX2 to come out..:fingers-crossed: you will probably be happy enough. kernels will still be out of the question though.
That was what I was afraid of... Thanks for the information

[Q] Way around non-unlockable bootloader

Hello
This is entirely theoretical. But would'nt it be possible to replace hardware in your phone to archive getting an unlockable bootloader?

What is it you are wanting an unlocked bootloader for? That sounds very desperate and not advisable, I've replaced a lot of hardware in many Xperia lines and the results are not always credible.

Because I want to get out 100% of my xperia device. I am willing to take the risk if thats the problem.
The whole non unlockable bootloader thing is very odd. I don't see why sony would bother making 2 sets of phones different from each other although technically the same phone

It's because the carrier want the phone to have a locked bootloader. I don't know why either of them would bother. Less people are going to buy their phones because of this and less people are going to choose that carrier.

Locked bootloader

So I have a zl from Rogers and the bootloader isn't unlockable so I decided to contact Sony and see if they could do it but the response I got wasn't encouraging they said they can't unlock it either. Seems kind of dumb to me. I'm hoping someone can figure out a way around it. Maybe something like the old arcs where you use a contact point and software to unlock. Ok end of rant lol
Ok One more thing if we could figure out how Sony signs the kernels maybe that could be another option for people like me

This is already covered many times e.g. :

Is there anyway to Simply Unlock the Z2 Force from ATT?

I've seen a few threads, but nothing about AT&T. If you know of any legit ebay sellers or anything it would be greatly appreciated!
If your talking bootloader unlock the answer would be No..
they are talking about carrier unlock
Is this what you're asking for? https://www.att.com/deviceunlock
Interesting that this simple solution might as well be the most effective. I submitted request, see how it plays out
*Update*: they approved unlock request. This is a new phone l requested code for, and I am not even at&t customer. All in all, this is something to try

They refused mine. New phone, IMEI never even been activated, but they said they "couldn't" unlock it because Motorola "no longer supports it". Which came as a surprise to Motorola, who told me 1) They do still support it, as they're still selling it, and 2) Motorola has nothing to do with the carrier unlock process.
So a week later and a dozen or more calls to AT&T in, I get told that no, I can't even talk to a supervisor, because I'm not a current customer. So it's not the case that they "can't" do it. They just won't.

I had an issue with an iPhone once with that. You should keep pushing to speak with an unlock support person. They are a specific department that deals with unlock request issues. They had to text me a code to verify something. And then they unlocked it. And this was a 5s. Not even sold anymore when this happened. But it was a phone I got used from someone.
tl;dr. Try the request on the website again. If it fails, then contact support through the link on the page showing the denial. And if the first person won't help then ask to speak to an unlock support specialist.

AT&T phones cannot be bootloader unlocked. Same with Verizon. You'd need an unlock exploit, which there isn't one for this model phone.
It's not that it's not simple to do--I've been fiddling with a few phones and custom ROMs. Issue is, there's a non-zero chance of bricking it, and I might need to return it--I've not seen much about whether it's possible to return everything to stock if I need to do so.
Can this device be returned to "factory" in every way if it doesn't work? Also, are there any IRC channels that deal with rooting/customizing Motorola phones?

I was under the impression that even unlocking bootloader and installing a custom ROM wouldn't do anything about the modem software where the carrier lock is located.

I think you are mistaken. He is trying to get the phone Sim unlocked. Not unlock the boot loader and root it.
