[DOWNLOAD] S4 Google Edition Camera, Boot Animation, and Live Wallpaper - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Google Edition Boot Animations etc.
Wanted to share > "The new Google boot animation and SunBeam live wallpaper that are currently exclusive to the Google Play Editions of the HTC One and Galaxy S4 have already been pulled and released for our tinkering pleasure. Thanks to the release of the GPL files (similar to factory images) for each phone by JBQ, members of XDA were able to get inside and pull out these two goodies. We’re still awaiting the arrival of the new Camera app, but we’ll take these two for now.
The boot animation is a .zip file that can be flashed through your custom recovery (yes, you need to be rooted). The files are 1080p wide, so it should look good on almost any device.
With the SunBeam wallpaper, you can try to install it as you would any other sideloaded .apk, but it may error out on you. Should you run into an issue, you’ll need to be rooted so that you can push the file to /system/app. Set the permissions to RW-R–R–, reboot, and enjoy.
The camera .apk from the GPe phones was made available, and appears to work on any phone without root. I installed it on my HTC One without issue (pictured above). In fact, I was able to snap a Photo Sphere, Panorama, video, and regular photo like you would hope."

Boot animation: try extracting the file contents and move the bootanimation.zip (from system/media in the zip file) to the /data/local folder on your phone. Rather than flashing
I cant guarantee anything as i'm not currently using any of these files.

The boot animation has been posted in a few more phone threads (verizon s4, nexus 4, etc). I would check to see if they have any fixes or an alternate file. Sorry I can't help any more than that

could always use the international boot animation... the black samsung one... way better than that annoying tmobile one. Theres a flashable zip in the wicked rom thread and theres also one here on one of the other theme threads with just the files.
Also camera confirmed working on my end as well. very nice!

the wicked rom uses a different format for boot animations. they use the .qmg files vs using the bootanimation.zip file. there are tutorials how to change the format. it is a little involved.

The camera won't install on my end. Using PAC rom. Anything special I have to do before I install it?

Never mind, after several reboots it was finely able to install.

The camera is very nice. Slightly better than the camera on Slim build 6.5.

Camera installed but couldnt take panaroma and 360 pics.

Any way to get the camera to save pics to SD Card instead of the internal?

Can I install the camera on stock non rooted or does it have to be flashed via recovery?
Edit. Nevermind I reread the first post and answered my question

Flashed the .zip and although the boot animation works, I am stuck in an infinite boot loop. In fact the phone works, I can tap the screen and open random programs but I can't actually see what I am doing because the boot animation doesn't 'go away'.
Had to reflash a whole new ROM to get things working again. Shame because it was a nice boot animation, but unfortunately no one in this thread has reported any success with this boot animation one way or the other.

[Boot Animation][CWM] Galaxy Nexus Jellybean Boot Animation

Hello everyone!
I've put together a recovery-flashable zip of the Jellybean boot animation from the Galaxy Nexus. I've personally tested this on my Galaxy S III and it works beautifully.

}
Instructions:
1. Download to your phone's SD card
2. Flash in recovery
3. Reboot from recovery.
4. Behold the glory of the Galaxy Nexus boot animation on your Galaxy S III
For those of you who wish to know, the bootanimation is flashed to /data/local rather than /system/media.
To flash manually with Root Explorer, etc. :
1. Download and extract the CWM flashable boot animation file below
2. In the extracted file, navigate to /data/local and copy the bootanimation.zip file
3. Navigate to the root of your SD card
4. Go to /data/local and paste the file there OR alternatively /system/media, overwriting any old boot animation (please backup your old boot animation if you wish to revert soon). Please note that /data/local is the first place that the OS looks for a boot animation. Any boot animation placed in /data/local will override a boot animation placed in /system/media.
5. Reboot and enjoy
This SHOULD work on any device with a 1280x720 resolution. If you flash this on phone other than a Galaxy S III, you do so at your own risk.
Please note: Image in OP is not actual size due to resizing issues. The actual boot animation will appear slightly smaller. Enjoy!
Updated OP with a gif image for those who are curious
Thanks. It's a nice stock bootanimation, but too minimal for my tastes.
Gotta have more flair! A version of this with extra flairy fire flares would be trippy.
(And thanks for putting it in /data/local instead of overwriting /system/media, which is where I put mine too. Wish more bootani packagers would do this (and specify this).)

Hey no problem we're not on Android version 1 anymore so /data/local seems like the best place to put it . I wish I had enough time and the software to alter this image with some blue flames. That would be amazing. Anyone up for the challenge? lol
Flashed the file from recovery, it put it /data/local. But still get the stock AT&T animation. I think I need to rename the file in /system/bin and create a symlink to it from /data /local.
Well that didn't work, neither did renaming the file in /system/bin and copying over the bootanimation file.

Hmm...good thinking on the symlink. What kernel are you on and this might be a stupid question but did you try removing the Samsung boot first? It's in an odd propriotary format. It's weird. I never thought a boot animation would be so difficult to implement universally on this device. I've never had any issues on other devices. I've been using triune ii and my animations seem to work. I was also on ucalh9 with an insecure kernel and boot animation support I made. I'm scratching my head on this one. I saw your post on the terminal commands on the other thread too. I'm replying here for both. Thanks for taking a look at this. Hopefully we can figure something out here.

No it should not as long as your kernel supports a custom boot animation. Almost all custom kernels support it. This has worked great for me, but if you're nervous, it flashes to /data/local on your sd card. If there's not a bootanimation.zip there already, it won't overwrite your current boot animation and you should be able to just delete it from /data/local if it doesn't work or you don't like it. So basically you can safely flash this without any risk of damaging anything regardless of ICS or JB. It works for me, but I definitely can't guarantee anything at this point. I've had some difficulties with bootanimations on the S3 for some reason. Let me know if it works out for you.

That's a good question. I've never ran a rom that putting it in /data/local didn't work. But it's so strange that some ROM's work that way. In my opinion, putting it in /data/local is safer AND you can keep your old bootanimation as a backup in /system/media. I'm definitely curious as to why it's different as well.
This is the boot animation from the ICS Nexus and is by far my most favorite boot animation ever. Works perfectly on GS3. Follow OP instructions for manual install

Welcome, here you'll find minimalistic and simple boot animations I made, from AOKP boot animations and some originals I'll make. I will continue to add more as I create them.

*If you want to use one of these boot animations on a phone, I'll be happy to edit a version for it.*
*Something's not working right? Please leave feedback in this thread and I'll see to it.*
*If you like these boot animations please rate and thanks.*
*The boot animations are all high quality, the example images shown here are re-sized(low quality) images.*
*With each boot animation I have included 2 files, a "bootanimation.zip" file and a flashable zip file.*

How to use the flashable zip file.
1. Using a custom recovery installed on your device, like TWRP.
2. Enter recovery mode and go to the "Install" menu. There, navigate to where the flashable zip file is located and flash it!
3. This will automatically put the file on "/system/media". Is fast and safe, once flashed, just reboot the device and enjoy the boot animation!
How to use the "bootanimation.zip" file.
1. Use the root browser/explorer of your preference, make sure that you gave it root permissions by allowing it to Read/Write root and system files.
2. Navigate to "/system/media", there you'll find a "bootanimation.zip" file(some ROMs like Carbon doesn't, it's okay).
3. If that file is there, you can rename it to "bootanimation.bak" or any other name you want, this will ensure it as a back-up, in case you want to use it again later.
4. Now copy the "bootanimation.zip" file you just downloaded to that same directory(/system/media).
5. With some root browsers/explorer you have to set the permissions for the file to "rw-rw-r".
Example using Solid Explorer
6. Once you copied the file and have set the permissions for it, you are all set, just reboot the device and enjoy the boot animation!

Glad you liked them, and if there's something wrong with any of them just say the word, I'll be happy to help.
I wonder if you could if you could turn the kit kat easter egg into a boot animation. That would be swell!

Boot Animations

Hey guys, I was just throwing this out here. If you want any custom boot animations you want done, feel free to post your requests. If you want a completely new boot animation just pm me details on what you are looking for. I'll try to get requests done as soon as possible as I also have to study for tests occasionally. Here's a link to my previous work for a phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690735 . If you want, I will convert the sizes for you guys all you gotz to do is ask. Happy theming everyone
To install a boot animation. You don't have to be rooted and you must have a file explorer of some sort. For me Root Explorer is very helpful.
Rooted:
Then go to system>media>then rename the existing boot animation to something different. This is pretty much backing it up. An example of what to name is bootanimation.zip1. Then go to the boot animation you want then copy and paste it to the system/media folder. Then you reboot and relax.

YOU MUST CHANGE PERMISSIONS TO ABOVE NO MATTER WHAT METHOD.
Not Rooted:
Put files in /data/local. Make the file if you must. Do same thing except in previously mentioned file as you would in /system/media

Hi,
There is one I'm looking for. It is the loading animation when you open a google service page in a web browser, like Keep or the alarm for Google+. It shows a circle with google colors folding in half from different axis.
Thanks!

Could you PM me a link of the picture of it? I have never seen it before. I will try to do yours and PatimusXPrime's requests over the weekend.
I have posted the Biohazard Bootanimation. The Google bootanimation may not be possible since I cannot get a clear look of the whole animation. If someone screencaptures the animation as a video ( Link Hypercam ) , I would be glad to do the animation. Happy theming! :cyclops:

Ooh, I'm gunna add that to dev-host ( so users don't have to wait for the animation) then add it to the list. It's growing people! Happy Theming!
FYI one can also pull the boot animation.zip out of the GE file and replace it manually with a file explorer.

Normally, the bootanimation should repeat until the nexus is restarted. At least it is written in the desc.txt.
actually instead of the above one which ill delete can you make this into one http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdssxiolK51rfvjf9o1_500.gif

Dark Dialer?

Anyone have the dark dialer by chance?
I see that it's in the HDC Note 3 (knockoff version).
That is a 720P device so the DPI would probably need to be run at 320 on our 1080P device though. Or at least use app settings to fix that.
Running Darthstalker V5 here, would love to have the dark dialer!
There's are a few choices in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480163
Also if you just wanted a dark dialer you can use compatible Xthemes afterwards

I've flashed those and the statusbar gets messed up (cell data icons, etc.). The dark version of the SEC dialer would be preferred!

Which Xthemes do this? Or change contacts. I've not had any luck with that

Ok found a solution!
This requires root and the ability to rename/remove system APKs.
I extracted four files for the dialer and contacts out of an international based Rom. (Vision-X)
The files are:
SecContacts.apk
SecContactsProvider.apk
SecPhone.apk
SecTelephonyProvider.apk
Use the files found in the rom zip /system/app/
On the local device (I use Root Explorer) you must browse to the respective system folder and open it R/W.
You may delete the originals (have the same name), I rename them adding .light to them just in case.
Copy them over and reboot the phone.
Your shortcuts may disappear for phone and contacts from your dock, I use Nova and was able to drag the ones from the desktop down to the dock.
Everything works, dark dialer and contacts just like the stock Note II!
Just replaced the 4 files like u stated and noe i cannot open the dialer...freezes for a few seconds and then says "unfortunately, contacts has stopped working"...
Funny i can open and view my contacts...dark theme worked...but phone dialer fc's.
Any suggestions? I'm on darthstalker5 wonderchild kernel. Thanks!

That's odd, that's the same ROM I'm using. Where did the files come from? I pulled them right from the zip on Vision-X.
I did everything right on the phone using Root Explorer.
You must do a full reboot after the copy as well. Mine said it could not find the program when I didn't reboot. After rebooting it worked perfectly.
thanks
I did the same exact thing you did, including reboot and clearing cache/dalvic

That's strange you get FC on contacts. Wonder what it could be.
I'm using Touchdown for Exchange that has its own contacts however I still have to copy the exchange contacts to the phone.
The only thing I recall is when I first did this and opened the dialer for the first time it did seem like it was borked where the dialer took about three seconds to show up. Now it works just as the original but has the dark dialer which I prefer. I never liked the light dialer that Samsung started with on the S4. Darthstalker is my fav ROM since I first got the phone in early October as well.
I may get brave when 6.0 comes out and put the updated files in the zip and flash it to see what happens but replacing them is pretty easy with Root explorer. Maybe try downloading the zip again? Usually a corrupt one fails on opening but you never know.
Thanks...ill try that

Just an update. After downloading DarthStalker 6.0 last evening, I was able to successfully exchange the files in the zip for contacts, dialer and also international camera (to fix animation transition bug = 1 toggle) and flashed the zip and it works!
Thanks. Will try later today

just downloaded and clean installed darthstalker6...followed the steps above (replace 4 apks. from international rom)....same problem...
contacts are fine...dialer force closes...
SUX! :silly:
Which APK's did you replace? The same?

What zip are you extracting the files from?
Mine came from this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559321
I had the original 12/7 release. There is a newer 12/18 version. I would recommend using the 12/7 version. That works here. With DarthStalker 5 I was able to get the dark contacts and dialer working just by renaming the originals and replacing them with the same files from the zip.
When DS6 was released yesterday, I removed those APKs from the (DS6) zip and replaced them with the ones from Vision-X. Works great. Ditto for camera APK. The only reason to do that is to stop the annoying behavior of transition animation reverting back to 1 whenever the camera is used.
In on stock odexed rooted rom how would I go about getting the dark dialer

I believe you would need to find an odexed rom that has the respective odex files to replace.
Thanks frost...I will try those files :good:
