Hi,
couldn´t find anything related, but I got my Ouya today and I am stuck entering my credit card data. I own a credit card, but i will not enter it without knowing, how the folks over at Ouya are using them ( remembering the Sony desaster etc. )
Is there any way yet to skip this menu ? ADB or anything else maybe ?

Thanks, that is a thread I found, but it doesn´t give any hint, how to skip the menu. I ended up, just using "test" credit card information from www .paypalobjects.com/en_US/vhelp/paypalmanager_help/credit_card_numbers.htm
That thread mentions that you can "adb install" apps, including a different launcher. After you get a different launcher on there, double press button under the touchpad and it will act like you pressed the "home" button. Then you get a menu to select which launcher to use. From there, you are able to do a whole bunch of things without entering any credit card info.

is missed that part, sorry =)
I understand everyone's concern over credit card security, but I would be surprised if we had anything to worry about with the OUYA. Alternatively you can buy the prepaid cards and put them in there in place of a credit card, which is what I'll probably do.
I've read that you can use a test credit card.

it is just validated account numbers used for testing .
you can also use them to get to use the OUYA console you already paid for.

I saw that too and wasn't happy. I hate to have to root my phone and image it just to get rid of that application. It hasn't asked again since the first time. Hopefully it wont ask again!

same here it only has asked me once!! so... hopfully its done!! verizon how could u do this put shareware with a 2 day trial on such a great phone!!
I knew it was too good to be true when they said no verizon bloatware in the reviews... i didnt plan on rooting the phone for 6 months if I ever do at all...

Its not verizon i had it on my alltel touch pro and i think it just puts the city name when someone you don't know calls you. It never stopped doing that for me after the trial was up and it never popped up saying i need to pay. So it might just be an extra icon you have ti live with.
It is defiantly always running in the background!

Just because it isn't exclusive to Verizon, doesn't mean its not crappy bloatware.
+1 on getting rid of this when root is achieved.
I'm new to Android to so I apologize if this is totally out there. CityID is part of the ROM so it is protected. But I imagine that Cequint must be able to push out an update for CityID or their libraries from time to time.
What if we made our own version of CityID with the same manifest that did nothing and installed it using "Unknown sources"? Would Android see our newer version and use that instead?
Is this possible or do we need to wait for root access?

There are some reverse lookup apps that show the name of the caller. Skydeck is well reviewed and I'm testing it.
When my trial period ended it asked if I wanted to keep my subscription and I hit no. It then allowed me to uninstall. Has anyone else had this happen for them?

Ok my free trial ran out last night, but this lame excuse of a program still runs for no reason, but to spy on my phone.
I was not able to remove the program.
This is a good reason to root this phone.
Ok so im new here and im new to the smartphone user crowd but I am pretty good with computers and think I may have found a way to remove City ID (and any other apps preloaded or not) from the Incredible. I was playing around last night and found an "Uninstall" button for City ID but I being a new user to Smartphones and honestly not yet willing to destroy my baby hehe was afraid to press it. Anyways for those (if any) of you out there are willing to try it and see what happens (im not held liable for anything if it goes wrong this is strictly your decision)..here is how you find the button:
1) Enter Astro File Manager (by default it takes you to your SD Card)
2)Hit the "UP" button, it will take you to your phone storage directory.
3)Choose the "System" folder.
4)Choose the "app" folder.
5)Scroll to "City ID". Click on it.
6)Choose "Open App Manager".
7)Voila..there is your button.
Please post if this works..alongside with any side effects etc..it would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helps someone.

No, it doesn't work. We have root now, so you can uninstall it. Someone posted directions somewhere. You just use the rm command from the terminal.
With this removed, do you still get city/state information (I imagine you would as Verizon advertises "Caller ID" as one of it's services). Was this just some moot/redundant app left in to try and make some money off of suckers?

Caller ID is name and phone number.
The translation from phone number to City/State is what CityID does. When removed, there is no display of City/State, but you still get Name and Phone number. As the translation of phone number to City/State for mobile phones is patented by the makers of CityID, Verizon can't provide that service without using the CityID application.

I installed PowerAMP full version, why can not I play list selected music on an external SD card. I especially get the card and from there I want to let you listen to.
How to solve?
Did you select your external SD card in settings? You might have to manually select it, I had this problem too at first
Where can I find this option, I'm sorry but I was on the iPhone 4 years so I did this all new
When in poweramp hit your menu key on phone (the one left of the Home key) that brings up a menu ,3rd from bottom settings.4th option down folders and library-music folders-Sd card -whatever your folder is (probably music) tick it then go back 1 page and hit rescan.
That should do it.
Check your stock music player can see the ext card files .
If not you may need to delete that folder and copy the music back .

this is NOT a questions sub forum, questions go into Q&A....anyway if you use CM10 you can change it in settings > system > Hardware keys
otherwise no other way for the CM9 based roms

seriously.....because it's a stock rom...all stock roms have it fine, only the CM one's dont have it properly, we have tried to sort it, but we cant...so either like it or lump it...by the way the search box is your friend, use it, this topic has been brought up before

Hey need help I made a back up before I flashed a rom I want to restore the back up but its not showing in restore. But i see it when i check the sd card. My question is, is there something special I need to do to restore my back up

Do you remember if you made the backup onto the external sd or internal storage? Try changing that option at the top when your at the restore screen since it may have been switched by accident.
Twrp isn't seeing the sdcard known bug. Transfer the backup to the actual phone memory and proceed to restoring :thumbup:

Weird, I only use Firefox and I've always seen all of the buttons. Maybe you have an ad blocker of some kind that is preventing it from being displayed.

I turned off all my Ad Blockers and reloaded the page. I also cleared the cache to be sure. It still doesn't show up.
Thanks, I was really just curious where that button was that I kept seeing being referenced to.
I will make sure to open XDA in I.E. to give thanks when needed.

Testing the app with my TV
It's working with my "Sony Bravia" and "WDTV Live Hub".
It doesn't work with "Cosmote's SetTopBox Pirelli"

What does not work? Learning the code or sending it when learned?
when I try to learn codes for my Samsung TV, it immediately says "learning timed out" as I press a button. Had luck once and could record "power off" for it, but could not find it afterwards anywhere to test it.

Did you changed the learning timeout in the settings?
Code needs to be uploaded after learning (there pops out a dialog when learning is okay) and will only appear in the database if upload is sucessfull. I will change that in the future, so you an store codes local only.

Sorry antifish, I never got the chance to test last night but am making it a priority tonight. I will be testing it on an LG Smart TV, a Sony Bravia TV, my cable box (SHAW, don't remember the brand) and my LG Home Theatre system.
Thanks uploading should work, there are already codes in the db, uploaded by other users. Please report if you find other issues, force closes etc

Tried to upload the Samsung codes, but it just keeps saying "database sync error". Need any logs or something? I would really like to contribute as I'd love to see some alternatives to SenseTV on this wonderful device

Can you try again? Does the normal sync work? When pressing the sync icon in the database? Maybe you can try once with wifi once with normal mobile connecting (a code is less than a kilobyte so should not use alot of data)
Tried uploading on 3G and Wifi. Both don't work. There's no error when I hit the upload button, but syncing afterwards gives me the same error as mentioned before. I'll try to make a tcpdump of it tomorrow

I have a Sony SMP N200 streamer. Its a discontinued product at this point, and the remote is kind of broken and would cost $50 to replace. Any chance that this works with it, or could be made to work with it?
Does it work with MacBooks or Beamers?

If you find somebody wiht a working remote for the SMP N200 and he can "learn" the codes on the HTC ONE it should work. Or if you find the codes on the internet and we can "translate" them to the format that the HTC ONE uses it should work too.

Yes shoud work, except apple uses some kind of special ir commands.. just press "learn code" on the HTC one and press a button on the apple remote and see the ONE can learn the code

Press "Learn Code" in the app and than point with your AC Remote to the one and press a button on the remote
after pressing "learn" you have 5 seconds to do this, but you can change the timeout (time the ONE trys to learn a code) in the settings

tried clearing app data and learning the codes again. Same sync error. So SharkDump to the rescue! I'm sending you the tcpdump via pn
