[Q] Unlocking bootloader/relocking - Sony Xperia ZL

hi, farely new to sony ..i am currently rooted/stock rom
ive had experience with htc before so just have a couple of doubts
i am about to unlock my bootloader install cwm etc
now, if i am on unlocked bootloader and cwm obv i cant install an official update via PCC but can i if i have UB and stock recovery
and if that is not possible then does relocking do the trick ?
one last one ..
flashing sony ftf file for my specific model regardless of the custom rom/kernel/recovery i am on works ?
thanks in advance

for the official update via pcc question it will inform you there is and update but you will not be able to install the official firmware through pcc even if UB and stock you can only update flashtool ftf file or with cwm flashable zip
yes you can relock your bootloader with flashtool to update the official way.
yes it will work especially if you are stuck in bootloop or brick as long as you can boot into flash or fastboot it

I dont think the NEW JB would be available to download anytime soon.. So just wanted to Connect the Phone to PCC on my Xperia and Flash it.
Already Flashed ICS STOCK via FLASHTOOL on Phone but since its not MY COUNTRY specific
The build gives a few errors.
Just want it like the brand new as if its out of box with the New JB.
Please Reply.

You have three options -
1) Wait until someone releases the FTF file of stock JB and flash it with Flashtool
2) Relock your bootloader and try to do a software repair/update with Sony PC Companion/SUS.
3) Use Sony's official Flashtool for unlocked bootloader to restore your device to ICS/update it to official JB.
In my opinion, don't relock your bootloader but just wait until someone gets the update and makes the FTF file. Meanwhile, you can use Sony's official Flashtool and revert back to stock ics.

Which new JB? the ftf you download and flash is the same that you get from PCC or SUS, just using a different way.

[6.2.b.0.211]Need help after fail trying to root Xperia S

Hi, today I tried to update my Xperia S to 6.2.b.0.211 using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302631
But I got a brick which put my phone on a bootloop like the sony logo wouldn't disappear. So I used PC Companion to repair it and now I'm at 6.2.b.0.200 without root.
What I'm asking: Is there any way to root/flash a pre-rooted rom or whatever to have my phone rooted?
Thanks in advance.

Hello guys, u dont need pre-rooted rom or use the old .200 rom anymore
just get the .211 stock rom and u can root it!!
Seems the .211 rom is not available in many country, including Hong Kong (where i'm from)
u can just flash the .211 rom with the ftf file with flash tool in your XS
u may download it here : http://goo.im/devs/DooMLoRD/xperia_s/LT26i_6.2.B.0.211.ftf
u can flash it in without wiping data or cache (while the pre-rooted rom will wipe data)
then root it with doomlord easy rooting kit : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473
hope it helps

Here is very easy and wonderful way !
1. Unlock the bootloader ! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613&nocache=1
2. Download flashtool and install it. http://androxyde.github.io/
3. Download doomkernel and SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip - 1.43 MB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305591
4. Now flash the doomkernel via flashtool and restart the phone. Now when you see cool doomlord logo, pressing at 'volume +' you will get CWM recovery and pressing at camera button you will get TWRP recovery. choose any one of them and flash this 'SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip - 1.43 MB'
ALL THE BEST !

I'm not sure if it's region free but i can instal in on my Hong Kong version Xperia S so i believe it can be installed on yours
i believes most languages are here too
but there's only xperia international keyboard by default
seems other keyboard can still e added in setting
but the Xperia Chinese keyboard is missing and i have to flash it myself
if u dont like this version, u may look for another ftf file

i dont think unlocking the bootloader is required as it is a stock rom
btw, doing this will make u lose your bravia engine
u can root official . 200 FW. Your device must be UL, flash with fastboot doomkernel v5 and then you have CWM and root.

[Q] [Newbie]Troubles reading ftf files

Hi,
I'm new to rooting and flashing custom ROMs, so any help will be greatly appreciated
I'm using an orange xperia lt15i, that I've decided to root and on which I want to run CyanogenMod 9.1
Here's what I've come up with :
flashing a generic ftf to debrand my phone, in orded to unlock the bootloader
install recovery
unlock boot loader
flash CM
The catch is, flashtool (0.9.16.1) can't read any of the ftf files I put in the firmware directory..any idea ?
Did I get the steps in the right order, is there any way to achieve this at all ?
Thanks

maybe file is wrong download here a new one. this works 100% LINK
also use normal flashtool not 64bit.
install drives from flastool install dir/drivers for your phone
install android sdk (just leave all like it is & press install)
now to the process:
flashing a generic ftf to debrand my phone, in orded to unlock the bootloader i dont think this is need. on sony bl unlock site theres mentioned how to get in service menu & look if bootloader unlock allowed: yes or no. if yes just proceed. any way, CM requires flashng stock ics ftf b4 so do it after unlock...
install recovery no need if you flash CM's kernel later it was recovery built in (all custom)
unlock boot loader
flash cm kernel via fastboot
flash CM dont forget gapps! (google apps)

[Q] Kitkat Update - After Root

Hi-
I have rooted my device. Bootloader unlocked. Now my doubt is:
1. If I will still receive Kitkat update from Sony?
2. Can I be able to just download the same and install?
3. If yes, what will happen to my root?

Yes you will get a notification that an update is available, but your phone wont be able to install it (since bootloader is unlocked).
Thus, to apply the update, you need flash the stock firmware via flashtool.
And yeah, you'll lose root access once you flash the firmware. Just flash su binary via recovery to get it back.
Hope this helps.

Thanks @sohailferdous.... but I have few doubts - 1. I know the process of flashing a firmware via flashtool....but for that your need the ftf file...so is there a way to get the stock ftf file? Because .253 ftf india is still not available. The one present is AUS version
2. When you say SU binary I take it that its the SU zip file which is present in Doomlord's root update.

Hi,
I have a T2 Ultra Dual (Chinese Version ... XM50h) flashed it with the Australian firmware. Works great and shows now as D5322. Today I read about Kitkat Update - I'd connected the phone to the PC Companion - Companion started to download the Kitkat Update but when it shutdown the phone to install the upgrade I got the message that there is a modified software on the phone - update can not continue (Error2003)
Is it possible to get a flashable file out of PC Companion?

Strange - bootloader should be locked - how can I check if it is locked/unlocked?
When I try to flash 4.4.2 unbranded firmware from Ashwin - flashtool stops after the bootcode and nothing happens. Flash failed (so says the phone after rebooting. PC Companion repair does not work.
Reflash of the Australian 4.3 works - phone is up and running after 4.3 flash ...
Strange ...
Found a solution by myself!
Downloaded recent Flashtool (0.9.16)
Clicked on BLU
relocked bootloader (I had forgotten that it was unlocked)
Rebooted the phone
Started PC Companion
Update to 4.4.2
Sucess

use flashtool and inside of flashtool the tool "Xperifirm".
With that tool you can download latest firmwares .ftf
Flash downloaded firmware with flashtool.
And important: to receive Sony updates you have to relock your bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642081
Cause unlocking bootloader "kills" the FOTA partition (for me this partition is very useful cause i flashed a permanent TWRP recovery inside it), but you need this partition for Sony updates via Sony Companion etc....
BUT: this method only works if you unlocked the bootloader the official way via Sony homepage
