ROM INFO
Based on HTC One X 4.2.2 ROM
No tweaks except init.d
Kernel/Boot is from a modified CM10.1 Nightly Release
Build.Prop is almost untouched i didn't took to much time to edit that one.
if you wan't to try make it boot don't change anything in system/lib/hw/ unless you know what you're doing, logcat reffers to lib/hw/ about failed to load due to linker.cpp1xxx couldn't load name.so
PLEASE! whatever you do don't ask for can you add this and that features, specially not AIR/SammyCamera/ those won't work and i won't bother to put my time to try port something into A Sense rom that doesn't going to work. Thanks!
You can ask for ETA but do it on your OWN risk, i don't take any responsibility if you get flamed by other members or warned/banned by an moderator. since i'm not 100% "Healthy" i can't work on this every single time, though i sit more than i should do! but i'll do my best to sit down as much as i can

This is an attempt to port HTC One X 4.2.2 Stock rom to I9505. I was looking at some nice rom to port and found out that this had same CPU /according to GSMARENA
also display is almost identical in size. wifi/bluetooth has almost same functions/channels. both has LTE/3G etc. Both have infrared. etc etc you see what i'm aiming to, right?

HoaxEditionAlpha: Uploading
Based on CM10.1 with Bootclasspath changes.
prop changes to get adb working without security.
build.prop isn't fully changed only device name and rom name has yet been fixed,
rild and more needs to be specified i didn't took my time to look into that. my bad.
Logcat Exec problem fixed
Now using HTC One logcat from the rom
Init.rc should need some more changes (depends on how huge the changes are) haven't looked into that one yet either...
---> Nothing more added <--- this is most likely why theres pretty much crashes etc

How to logcat
adb logcat > name.txt
or you can google for how to make a longer logcat
How to contribute: when there's a bootable build you can contribute by providing logcat. however i can't tell how long time it will take until that will be done.

also i don't know why but CM 10.1 Nightly on PhilZ recovery gives set_perm error (this is not zip fault) its same with the official CM10.1 Nightly
you'll have to fix permission/wipe cache/data/
i wipe pre load aswell
don't know about that, seems to be a recovery issue ?

I like sense and I think this will be a cool port. I'm wondering how this will affect the sound because from the small amount of time I've played with the m7 I found the sound to be the one destinctly superior facet. Thanks for bringing more awesome options to our device!

Not again ffs. Please no....
S1,S2,S3 and now the S4. Everytime the result is the same. You may get it to boot but there will be so many bugs that cant be fixed. You simply cannot fully port a sense rom to a samsung phone. Time after time everyone is hopeful and every single time after months of trying the project is abandoned.
Its going to pain me to see this dragged out again with the same conclusion.

We will see I guess, but still on both epic 4g there were still things not working...thats all I was saying...as in a full working port.
I just cant see some of the features being ported because of hardware, the camera/video being one of them and the zoe software.

Why!!!!!
These threads are use useless and baffling to me. If you want HTC One the just get it and same with Apple. I love my Samsung and wont be going down this road. Seems a lot of pointless work to me.
Sorry and I wish you success but everyone knows how HTC script, their work has never been able to port from one device to another.

[DEV] Rotating capacitive buttons for ICS and other builds

Credits goes to st.matt, he gets full credit for the programming. He seemed a little busy, so I thought I'd spread the news so you guys can implement into your builds.
st.matt said:
Also just a run-down of how it works for anyone that is interested:
I use three different elements to get it working. Firstly, I use a small addition to surfaceflinger to set a system property (sys.orientation.landscape) to 1 when it is in landscape mode (either 90 or 270 degrees rotation) and 0 when it is in portrait mode (0 degrees rotation).
When this is set an init service will start depending on the value of sys.orientation.landscape, which in turn starts a script (/system/etc/rotate_lights.sh) which takes the brightness value from the expected led class (ie. if it's changing to landscape it will look at /sys/class/leds/button-backlight-portrait/brightness) and then set this to the new orientation's led class.
The third part is a small modification to the lights lib which also checks that system property when making changes to the button backlight brightness so that it sets it to the correct class.

The necessary files/code are on Virtuous' ICS vivo repository: https://github.com/vivo-ICS/android_device_htc_vivo, and you will also need the patched proprietary libsurfaceflinger.so that references to the changes.

made a CM7.2 kang for you Inc2 users.
All I did was put in the latest commits as of March 03 2012 and added the rotating softkeys. I can't really test it because I don't have an Inc2, so back up your data in case you are not sure if it will work.
You can flash this without wiping if you are on 7.x already.
For the IncS, I know the rotating buttons for them are not perfect. Sometimes you have to toggle the brightness to get it working. Other times it might take a few seconds to rotate instead of immediately. This is because this script was originally written for ICS roms in mind, but it's backwards compatible with GB.

its different for miui, because we dont build it from source and cant cherry pick commits
miui is more like a sense rom port that uses cm9 or another aosp rom as a "base"
any significant changes have to be done in smali, which is more involved than java source....i k nowwhat has to be changed (or at least part of it) and where for rotating buttons in miui by diffing the builds from aerovan before and after it was implemented but it was a no go on my part...and didnt seem worth the effort to keep pursuing it atm
I tried this yesterday. My phone wouldn't get past the HTC boot screen. I ended up having to pull the battery and reflash my current ROM.

Hmm, well I guess that didn't work. If you push /system/lib/libsurfaceflinger.so from an earlier working build you should probably be able to boot.
I just copied the file over from the vivo build which seems that it doesn't work with the vivow.
Guess the vivow surfaceflinger is done differently.

Just tried a flash over but didnt work for me. I guess I can always try a wipe and install.
This wouldn't be hard to add to Miui -- as long as they have no weird additions to libsurfaceflinger. You just need the patched liblights, patched libsurfaceflinger (built for CM), script in /system/etc and changes to init.vivo.rc (or init.vivow.rc for Inc2).
Requires no changes to smali or framework.
The other thing is that if someone wants to clean it up and submit it to CM then the MIUI team will pick it up themselves (someone already did this but didn't seem to have to skill / couldn't be bothered to clean it up to their standards and also didn't really submit it correctly).
I would do this but I don't really have the time these days.
Also: I suspect the problem with the lights not working sometimes could be solved just by adding the conditional I have that checks first to see if the brightness is zero to both orientations (in rotate_lights.sh). I will have a quick look at this soon.
just wanted to share a slight modification in the script. When the brightness level is set to the least the leds turn off completely. The attached script makes sure the leds do not turn off completely at this instance. Unzip the file and replace the file in your /etc/ folder. You may want to make a backup of your existing rotate_lights.sh just in case. Ensure the permissions on the file are the same as before after copying.
Just realized that the settings work only the first time when the phone is rotated. I guess I need a better fix. Sorry, remove the attachment as it has undesired issues. Fix No damn good.

[ROM/PORT/KANG?] 24-03-2012 | Edited Zips Creamed Glacier + IceColdInsomnia

This build was edited by me (mainly for my personal use), based off of Zips Creamed Glacier's 3.11 release, but contains fixes I pulled from IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1.
I don't normally start dev threads, so bare with me (I'm no dev)
What's new:
- Practically everything that's included in Zips Creamed Glacier 3.11 - includes, FFC unlock, Working games (Draw Something does work!), mdj's kernel and so forth.
- I fixed the weather/geolocation issues found in 3.11
- I fixed the USB mount issue in 3.11 (you couldn't mount as a mass storage device while the phone was on [gave you two options that didn't work])
- I fixed the full signal bars issue (reported full bars at all times you'd have service)
- Also included the romcontrol.apk from IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1 and the settings.apk (for those who wanted ROM control settings but had to use the widget shortcuts to use them, you no longer have to as it's included in the settings)
- Replaced the systemui.apk with IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1's (you can haz 4g icons!)
- Replaced Trebuchet with Apex Launcher (This was part of my personal liking, Apex Launcher is the best ICS launcher IMO, try it out)
- May be forgetting something else...
All of the fixes mentioned above were fixed by pulling their respective files from IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1
* Don't ask any of the devs for wifi calling, as it's assumed to not work until T-Mo updates wifi calling for ICS (which should be whenever a T-Mo phone officially has ICS) or unless a dev performs some sort of magic ritual and get it working and stable

Basically all that you would find in zips' build, I think the only app I took out was trebuchet and the only app I added was apexlauncher. If not, I can fix them later.

[MOD][WIP][ICS]Wi-fi Calling

This is a development thread. If you don't have something to contribute other than 'i hope this works' or 'thanks!', just hit the 'thanks' button. Let's keep this thread clear so that we can get some work done.
Here is the thought:
We all know that the implementation of wifi calling for the t989 is done through a new method.
HOWEVER, this should not preclude the possibility of getting the old (app) method of wifi calling working.
If it can work on the hd2, a non-android device, there is at least a chance we can implement it here.
----
I have started by looking at the implementation on ICS for the sensation.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435743
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=849384&d=1326144671 -- (sense)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=850699&d=1326220923 -- (AOSP)
I have so far been able to get the rom to boot after flashing, and am getting as far as the 'did you know that you can make calls through wifi?' pop-up when first connecting to a network.
However, it is crashing upon opening the app.
I am in the process of taking apart the zips and taking a look at the various changes (build.prop, amongst others) that the zips are making to the system. I assume we would need to build them for a touchwiz rom rather than either of the above implementations....i'll hopefully put in a few hours tonight to see what happens.
Anyone else who wants to tackle this, help would be appreciated. PM me for my gtalk info.

They're serious enough issues that are probably related in some fashion. I'll share my findings as they occur!
Only issue I have is no signal or data after flashing this..
Its likely because the on off toggle and related settings are knit into the tmo Settings.apk

its probably not going to work with out ims-service.apk you guys are missing that. since this is the service that connects to the Tmo voip server
There's more to it than that as well, I believe.
I also see traces of it in the ICS leak...although my eyes may be deceiving me.

You should just post the logcat here as a pastebin link that everyone could look at them
do "logcat *:E" it will only output errors and fatal errors. so its not full of shyte no one needs.
Could someone try this one. It shouldnt kill your signal.
It also doesnt force close. It goes up to enabling and I could call but im not sure if the switching is working
Logcat for this

I wasnt sure if the original wificall.apk needed it but since I changed that to the one on the t989 2.3.6 I guess it doesnt need it. I was going to eliminate it once the rest was working and pare it down to the necessary parts. I did take it out of script which prevented the signal from getting killed by the script.

libgan.so you are using is from a htc device? i would suggest using all libs from the t989 thats probably why you are getting that error as the lib you have is expecting to switch a htc ril.

I looked into that actually and for a while did not realize that the OP mentioned using the old Kineto system.
T989 has some specific Wifi-Calling instructions in libaudio.so....so unless we can work around that (haven't truly attempted yet) we may be SOL on using the T989 WifiCalling

[Alpha 0.3]CM9 for One V[28.06]

Okey I talked to some members on this forum that asked me to help out getting a asop/cm9 version up and running for your phone. I don't have this phone but I'm giving it a try anyway.
Please don't use this rom for MOD's without permissions. Lets try getting it to work first!!!
This thread will be more organized and better looking after a while.
I don't have the device so deving isn't that easy. Luckily I've had good help from Lloir, I'm going to set up a channel on IRC freenode server so everyone can help and get support.
Development will probably be a bit slow until I get the device. If you want donate so I can afford the device then it's possible through paypal.
I'm going to provide download links and more information on a blog, it's an easy way to sponsor me. Click on a ad when you visit the site and sponsor both my work and so I can buy the phone.

If anyone could pull the proprietary files like this: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/steel-droid/196475-guide-how-build-your-own-rom-cm7-source.html
Then it would be really appricated and help the progress
Thanks to: Lloir, CM team and Evervolv, Drewis and Shaky for teaching me this stuff

Uploading a build right now.
I doubt it'll work since I didn't get the proprietary files, but tried with some backtracking anyway.
http://ge.tt/api/1/files/1ApXNDJ/0/blob?download
Nice to know if logcat works and how far it gets in booting
If anyone is up for testing then I'm on IRC at freenode server in #ics_desire_nexus_dev (not gonna bother setting up a chan before I'm a bit further)

Really close now.
Thx Lloir for testing.
It's booting up until it vibrates on lights turns on. So we're at the stage before it's booting!
*edit

I've made a blog with download links.
It's an easy way for me to get some income to continue using time on this So please click on ONE ad if you visit the blog.
If you want to add download links then add it in comments

Okey have fun with the build. It's not very usable yet, but at least you can have a look
I won't have time to do much today, but I'll probably drop something improved tomorrow.
And click on ONE ad if you visit the site, so I might afford a One V
IMPORTANT
for those of you who test the Alpha build, on 1ST BOOT, your phone will boot into a black screen, you need to hold the power button until your device powers down, and then just power it back up, it WILL boot on 2nd time round.
Oh btw i need a new logcat from both boots + all the fc's

[ROM][CM10] Ultimate Jelly

Some of you requested a working CM10, so i'll provide some up-to-date test builds.
Downloadlink: http://www.mediafire.com/?7d2xd0xw9gantpo
Gapps: http://goo.im/devs/OliverG96/gapps-lite/gapps-jb-20120726-lite-rebased.zip (Flash them after you have booted, don't know it these gapps work.)
I don't have much time coming weeks so i'll change the layout of this thread later.
I don't have a HTC Hero, so I don't know what works, what doesn't. I don't even know if it boots.
YOU have to test and report what's working/bugs. It will go slow but it's all I can do.
I have used Shelnutt's CM10 build for HTC Hero CDMA which is quite the same.
Don't forget to push the THANKS button and to thank shelnutt for his builds!
Is this the rom or only gapps ?

I just added the downloadlink.
Won't boot. And windows doesnt accept the driver, so no logcat...
Tried first time for a while, and the bootanimation seemed to pick up some speed..
Edit logcatting now! One of the first things I saw was:

Phew, it booted. Animations are a bit slow...
Whole log: http://www.pasteall.org/38695/text
Trackball use shows a mousecursor
Power button does not give a response (so no screenshot)
BT switches on!
WIFI doesnt switch on ...
Does boot. Not very fast rom. Camera is missing. Pleasing on the eye looks nice .
Sent from my Hero using xda app-developers app
It boots, that's a good thing. CM10 is indeed slower as CM9 on my Magic too, probably because it uses even more memory and don't forget it just a raw build.
I'll see if I can get some things improved with scripts.

Happy to test. My hero is up for sale so I dont know how long i'm able to test it.
How can you dev something if you cant test it? I'm a software dev, but I need my debugger all the time..

Because we know what it takes to make it work since the process is almost same, our devices Hero and Magic are not that much different so the steps that are needed to port to magic are not that different from steps needed to port it for hero

It's quite easy since once you know which files have to be replaced, you just have to repeat it for every ROM you port. :good:
