[Q] Pixel / blacks spots on the display ... have to replace? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
as you can see from the picture (imageshack.us/photo/my-images/407/qirg.jpg/),
I have a problem with the display of my DHD.
Many pixels are completely blacks ... really annoying ...
I think it's obviously a problem of the display and not of the glass for the touchscreen,
could you confirm?
Do you think it is better to buy the spare part and replace it by myself?
Or it's better buy another phone and not risking spending about 50 euros?
Thank you!

Should Fitting a Amoled Screen into a SLCD phone work?

Hey Guys,
I can't really find much about this on-line, i had a SLCD HTC Desire but i broke the Screen and Digitizer so i bought them both but all i could find on ebay was amoled screens so i bought one thinking it should work, but ive connected it all up and im getting faint lines across the screen, is it a faulty screen or do i need a slcd display?
should fitting a porche badge to my car make it go faster ??
I think your have to sort out the hardwear first ... which would be a new mobo ... + a new screen .... mmmmm bar the case you have a new phone !! lol

[Q] Replace an AMOLED with LCD screen ?

Hello everyone,
I know there's a lot of threads about broken screens out there but I could not find a precise answer to my question.
This is what happened. My HTC Desire (with AMOLED) fell on the ground. When I picked it up I noticed a crack. It seemed like it was not on the touchscreen but underneath it. Also, in the first hours the display worked well like always despite the crack. Then, the next morning, I woke up to a surprise. The screen was now loosing it's colors and everything was in a kind of violet range. The next day, the screen was completely black (but I could feel that the touchscreen was still working because of the small vibration during unlocking).
Of course, the "official" screen replacement is too expensive for me and I think I can do it myself. The problem is that I can not find a site that's selling AMOLED screens for HTC Desire, only LCD. So there's my question : is it possible to replace an AMOLED screen with a LCD screen (on the HTC Desire)? Or maybe someone knows a site that's selling AMOLED screens for HTC Desire?
Thank you in advance.
Switching screen for screen won't work. At least you would need to replace the digitizer too, and I'm not sure will it work with your motherboard. Total cost of screen + digitizer would be around $110.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I know people mentioned different digitizer for different screens. I'm not sure that's true but a different motherboard would be required.

HTC One X fell...

I need an advice, my phone just fell out of my palm and it's screen is completely shattered. The touch screen is fully functional but the screen shows orange-ish dots. Is the the LCD or the broken glass just presses it?
Screen repair here costs ~500 bucks, which I ofcourse refuse to pay.
TL;DR:
What should I order to fix it myself , and is it worth it?
(LCD + touch screen? )
Also, if I order the OEM one.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-OE...872?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1ae6a558
will it be the original LCD2 the HOX has?

ยท 110% Brand New (In the ebay advert)! THAT MADE ME CHUCKLE !!
I would ask the ebayer, not us about the LCD2 screen
And if I was you, I wouldn't even bother going anywhere near repairing it yourself, unless you have experience. They are so complex its unreal.
Good luck !
Another question, when my iPod touch cracked I tried to replace the glass... it didn't turn out well. I only ordered the digitizer , at the end it was attached to the LCD.
Anyone knows if it's the same with the HOX? Really can't afford a 500$ repair now.

yeah they are attached normally, hox, the glass is attached to the screen.
my dhd when smashed, was declared beyond economical repair.
its only really if the screen isn't smashed too badly that you might be able to warm it up enough to loosen the glue, but you'll probably damage the lcd itself in the process. and then you'll probably bugger up re attaching the new glass. even htc buggered it up with the yellow spots etc on lots of the early models
you're better off getting the whole screen with glass. it will be fiddly, but there are a few teardown guides for hox, and if you research this enough, and make sure you have the right tools for the job, it should be fine.
if i was in your situation, i would try it .. but i would make a million % sure that the screen i was buying was a genuine screen.

[Q] mid frame damaged what to buy?

Hi everyone,
My SGSII has gone through a lot and I would like to see if I can "refresh it"
I've seen on the web people that sells spare parts for the phone, however I'm not sure what to get because I do believe the phone has like 3 frames.
The screen is perfect, maybe a really small barely noticeable scratch, the middle frame (metallic?) is the one that is really damaged taking drop hits, battery cover might be replaced.
Do I have to get the screen or digitalizer as well? I have seen some procedures and they basically rip apart the digitalizer damaging it for good.
Thank you for your time and help.
Seems you can't change the digitizer without the screen with this AMOLED display type, which is very expensive. Not worth it on an old phone. Slap a bumper case on it!

Cracked Display

Hi there,
I dropped the tablet recently on one corner and the screen cracked. The display is still working e.g. the screen is touch-responsive.
I watched several repair videos and YT. To replace just the glass seems to be quite a mission with the risk of breaking the new glass as well. I want to replace the whole display unit. Samsung charges a fortune, exceeding the value of the whole tablet (> 4 years old). Could somebody point me to a supplier where I could get a new or second-hand display unit. Does anybody have experience with changing the display? Many thanks for any reply. Cheers LJ

Nice video how to:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSKA3R8t5Qk
Good pictures of opening it here:https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Galaxy+Tab+S+10.5+Back+Cover/49981
google how to replace t800 screen there is plenty of info. You might only need to replace the touch screen. If you need to replace the entire assembly it is easier to do but more costly.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I have seen this and other videos of the tear-down and screen or glass only replacement in the meantime. Why I posted my question here, is to get a kind of first-hand experience of members of the procedure. On the videos it looks relatively easy and straight forward. The glass only replacement is difficult and I will not attempt it. The replacement of the display unit is easier but, as you correctly point out, very expensive. An original Samsung display from a supplier in Spain is approx. EUR 200, thus much more than the time value of the Tab S. My conclusion thus far is to retire my Tab S and go for a brand new Kindle Fire as I use the tablet for reading only. Cheers LJ
