[Q] APK security hole patch? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hey I have a xperia s running free xperia 10.
I was wondering if there is a way to patch the security hole which was recently discovered concerning compromised apks which affected 99% of all android phones.
Do i have to wait until the free xperia project fixes the hole and then install a new rom or can i patch it some how ?

I to downloaded and ran this bluebox app.
I ran the app, I am patched! don't know how, unless the latest ROM I flashed patched it, as I've downloaded nothing new (apps) from google play just app updates, I never update software (as I just flash), so how did I obtain the patch?
No malicious apps found, instal from unknown sources allowed.
I can assume I am safe? negating unknown sources allowed.
Just simply confused how my phone is patched, without me knowing, a good thing but can't see how it happened, unless the app & ROM updates did it
Advice/info appreciated.

just be careful on what you download, never download apps on unknown/shady sites(warez) and download apps only from well know developer or company, or just use playstore and you will be alright.
here is something to read about: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/android-bluebox-virus-exploit-not-that-bad/

Seeing I have some important data that I don't want erased ( and I'm too lazy to back it up ), I'll pass on this update until other users report exactly what's in it.
And as for you who got .146, another user already uploaded rooted img, be sure to thank him.

Yes you can update it...... But you will lose root.
I need to clear some thing for you, rooting does not give you access to download apps free from Google Play. So you should remember that also. I am saying this because you said so-

Oh and please don't post links to cracked apps or wares sites. Mods are very strict about this. If you are unhappy with stock ICS, just go to the development section and check out some custom ROMs. And please be patient - JB is coming in May.

For that, you have to flash a pre rooted rom using flash tool.... If you are planning on upgrading to ICS firmware, no need of flashing pre - rooted rom.. Every ICS firmware on Xperia S can be rooted easily (1 minute work).. So update you phone using PC companion or flashtool and then root it...

Root is completely different from jailbreak...
There is no jailbreak for Android...
In Android JB means 'Jelly Bean' aka android 4.1

Is anyone facing error 920 while installing apps from
play store. Even opera doesn't work properly
when using WiFi on cm11...
And I have noticed that this happens only when using WiFi... Works fine when using data connection
I faced this problem with alpha 1 as well..
I have tried clearing data and cache of play store... Wiped /cache and dalvik cache from cwm, setting up static IP instead of dhcp... But the problem won't go away.
It seems to be WiFi related problem rather than of a specific app..
Any help would be appreciated

I recommend you to do a clean flash of the rom.... Follow these steps:
1.Backup Your Data
2.Wipe /system,/cache,/data from CWM
3.Flash Rom
4.Flash Gapps
OK here s my qstn
Think I installed cm11 alpha 2, and after some days they release say alpha 3 or beta
At that time should not again reflash entire ROM?

Simple Q from a total noob, cause before I start to climb the learning curve for CyanogenMod installing, I want to make sure not to waste my time.
My phone sais:
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Should I give up already, or there's a remedy for this problem?

Just a curious question. What is the version of firmware you're currently use?
Older firmware of C1905 have a bug that change bootloader unlock status every restart.

The latest one officially available: 15.1.C.2.8
So you are telling me that if I downgrade to some older version (which one?) I only have to restart several times until I get a permission?

No. What I mean is if you still use older version of firmware, it might be just a bug. But because you are using newest firmware, it seems it's not a bug but the bootloader really not unlockable.

Good Rom - But some issues (may be I'm alone)
Hey Dudes,
Sony Xperia M C1905
- Bootloader unlocked
- Rooted
- CWM installed
- CM11 Alpha 2 installed + configured
1. - I had one issue with PICO TTS, I navigate to settings Text in Speech - I got an error message PICO TTS closed.
- Seems that I fixed it with reinstalliing PICO - now it works for me. My Alarmclock speaks now with me (Time, Weather).
2. - I use a Alarmclock that can activate the sleepmode (5 more minutes to sleep before I had to step out of my fantastic bed) with shaking my device - with my Defy+ and CM7 it worked very well - with Xperia M and Stock Rom also, but with Alpha2 CM11 no reaction - no sleepmode - damn I had to step out of my bed early any Problems with G Sensors or Accelerometer?
3. Lockscreen - Pin ist set - if I try to unlock the Phone I had to directly fill in the Pin - I used to first wipe then the Pin Screen appears.
Is this new to CM11 ( I had CM7) or is this normal in Android above the old one?
Thanks to the Developers and also to the Community.
Lars

Please have a look into xperia-m/development - the Root Howto works for me.
Once I had a little Problem - that could be solved with the CWM (root fix message) - after that I reinstalled the Superuser app.
Hi to all.
Please, can someone tell, does:
1. Wi-Fi Direct
2. FM Radio (stock Effem or Spirit FM)
3. Photosphere (may be not installed by default: use this)
works in this awesome ROM?
And does navbar landscape issue and visual glitches was fixed in Alpha 2?
Also about missing torch app and tile: here's some example commits that must bring it back.

Maybe your phone branded / SIM-locked to operator?
They usual can't be unlocked – Sony warn about this here.

Was pleasantly surprised that @PecanCM remembered for me as developer that make CM10.1 for LG P350 and other LG's also work on Xperia M.

No Sony App updates on 14.4.A.0.157?

On 14.4.A.0.108 all the sony apps like walkman, movies, album etc. have their respective updates but upon updating theres no update for sony apps.
Like :
My Version currently 8.3.A.0.8 while the latest is suppose to be 8.4.A.3.1
And album currently 6.1.A.0.16 while the latest is 6.5.A.0.10
the same goes with Movies etc...
I know I can easily just install the APK of it but the thing is, why does those update appear on the older firmware 14.4.A.0.108 while on .157 it doesn't?
Same with my phone. I've posted a question on sony forum, waiting for response...
Yeah I saw that and I replied too. I guess this firmware brings bugs instead of improvements. I haven't seen any improvements except the fluidity but maybe this is due to the increased minimum frequency of the processor from 300 Mhz. -> 1.9 Ghz. but it also gives greater battery drain
From where does this increased minimum frecvency nonsense come from? CPU spy reports that my phone is mostly using deep sleep and 300MHz.
And yeah, no sony apps updates here either....could be a bug in latest firmware of maybe a misconfigured sony update server.
My Walkman version is 8.4.A.5.4
But Info eye is old 1.3.07 not 1.6.07.
And there is no update.
Sent from my D5503 using XDA Free mobile app
also in uc browser the web pages are not readable for very light font... previously there was no issue... there must be something wrong in this firmware because in 108 it works fine/....
Im plannging to downgrade since this firmware is not as stable as before. actually the stable firmware for Z1c is 4.3
I did a request to sony support through e-mail with this problem. Waiting for response... Maybe they will give some normal answer, not like they do on support forum.

I tried it with ODEX rom and still, the problem persists.
PS: to make it work on odex rom you just need to delete UpdateCenter.odex in /priv-app/ before replacing .apk
maybe it is not the problem of update center but the firmware itself.
Just received an update od What's New app via Update Center. However, other updates still are marked as up to date
Figures, what's new app updated here too. It looks like a sony server side problem....maybe to ease the load on the firmware update servers....

If it is OTA it depends, but most of the times you need to install them one-by-one, instead if it is the full Zip you need just the last one

What? That's wrong. You can skip from 01/03 build to today's without problems even with the in-built OTA updater.

I didn't get it was related to the built-in OTA, I understood he was talking about TWRP flash.
If related to built-in you can just follow what advised
