[Q] Better YouTube app? - Droid RAZR M Themes and Apps

Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of the unofficial YouTube apps on the Play Store. The official YouTube app I use is terrible. Always buffering. Even on a strong wifi connection. YouTube through the browser works alright, but is less convenient. Anybody have any recommendations?

is there an app that just downloads the audio track and plays it? i swear i found one a couple years ago on my wfs but i forgot what it was. i dont care much about the videos, as i only use you tube to find and play specific tracks, but its such a data hog with the vids

Ima register my interest here - since getting a tablet I've found i cannot watch HD vids due to buffering issues that don't exist in browser or on other devices using the same connection.

I never play strictly audio from YouTube as there are plenty of OTHER audio options I use on the M. When I'm on YouTube it's for videos. Heck the website works from my phone better than the app.

I know it's been a few months from the last response, but I feel like I should still reply in case you/someone else is still interested in a better Youtube app.
Viral HD Youtube Popup Player is the best Youtube app I've found for Android, far better than the official app. You can actually choose what quality video you want instead of HQ/HD and not HQ/HD, which is something about the official app that really annoys me. Also it doesn't shove recommended videos in your face when you start it, it instantly shows your subscriptions. The player interface also has much more usability (eg. changing the brightness/volume and being able to lock it) and it also has a neat feature to play the video in a popup window while you do other stuff (which isn't very useful in most situations really and you can disable it in the settings if you don't use it) or you can just have the video play in the background (which is really useful in case it's a podcast/music video).
It does have some bugs and missing features, which I'm sure will get fixed eventually, but in general the app looks really good and polished unlike most other unofficial Youtube apps.
(I was going to put a link to it in the Play store, but since I can't just search for Viral HD Youtube Popup Player and you'll find it)
PS. I've no idea if it fixes the buffering issue, I just had to share it since it's fairly difficult to stumble upon it in the Play store and it's just so good that it deserves far more than 100k downloads

The app is called "stick it" from the market and it cost $1.50. A very cool app to use on your tablet or phone.
Watch videos from your phone or youtube videos while browsing or using maps. Youtube is a bit buggy but saved movies are smooth. The video is adjustable and can be moved anywhere on the screen.

YouTube PopUp Play

Hey, I am searching for an app with lets you play youtube videos in a popup window like locally stored videos on the SGS3... is there a "hack" for youtube App / TouchWiz so you can do this or an external app?

Grateful to know what's better? I'm always on the lookout, especially if it"s free to download. Couldn't find anything on the Playstore that reliably allowed playback of YouTube vids outside the YouTube app. I'm running a stock ICS rom, so would have to count out any apps that required a rooted device..

how do you stream in HD?

it seems like I can't stream anything in HD. is there a setting for this? Both YouTube and Netflix apps streams in 360 or 480p even when HD button is on. it's kind of annoying when I know I can get better picture than that. What's the purpose of having a nice screen when you can only stream in this resolution? is there a way to force these to stream in 720p? or at least an apk that will work on Galaxy Note II. i've found some but it doesn't work on my NII. thanks.

For youtube you can go to settings but I think its HQ and for you to see videos you have to make sure whatever video you choose to watch is a HD video that way when it starts you can select the HD option button remember on youtube you have to hope that the uploader had recorded their videos in HD also. Now for netflix it shows on its own since I have lte I really never tried to see if their was an option for HD in the settings.

both of them shows pixelation even both the Netflix shows I watch and YouTube channels in am subscribed to is both available in HD. I cannot express how much I hate this.
I see you use Sprint version. have you tried comparing it side by side a laptop or desktop if they are the same? I tried comparing them and note II was inferior of the three, but when I run a video I have on my sd card it looks crisp.

this! I tried this earlier with TIBU but I can't install it. Apparently it stayed at my app drawer so it blocked me from installing it. I tried it again and worked like magic. it's finally streaming true HD! now we just need netflix. I tried some already but all of them won't work. It force closes on me. tyvm

mine didn't. It seems like it's not just me. There's a huge difference between the modded apk linked above than the one on play store. no pixelation and discoloration on the new apk. crisp and clear just like how it looks like on a laptop. but now it eats a lot more data which is fine since I have unlimited 4g nationwide. I guess I see why the official one doesn't offer true HD. ^^.
I hope somebody do something like that for netflix. I've searched but no one has a working apk on Samsung devices. :/

Download Tube mate (Google It) you can stream or download 1080P,720P,480P,360P HD videos on 3G/4G/LTE or WiFi. Works great for me. Also there's a modded Netflix APK that supports 720P. Google it as well. I don't like posting links because they may be considered as spam.

Poor Youtube video quality?

Hello, I have a note 2 n7100. I used to have 4.1.2. Flashed 4.3. Everything went well. One thing that's bothering me is the youtube app video quality is low even when I choose HQ. It gets better but it's pixilated. On 4.1.2 it was basically hd. Has anyone else experience the same problem? I can't figure out what it is. The rom?. Or a setting somewhere? Could a custom kernel effect it somehow? Any tips or advice appreciated.

Are you on 3G? Because usually the app switches to HQ rather than HD only on 3G.
Also there is an app called Viral .. It let's you choose whatever quality you want, its kinda good, you may want to try it
Thanks, i guess i had a modded youtube app before where it would automatically play hd in 3g. Noe it only has hd option on wifi only. The only solution i foind is the OG youtube downloader. Where you can choose what quality you want when on 3g. But it doesnt have an auto option to go to highest quality when on 3g. Ill check out that viral app. Thanks.

Actually most of the roms have youtube apk as system app and those apks are a little modified for better performance!
If u have system youtube apk then you can remove it by using root uninstaller from play store(needs root).
And reinstall youtube from play store!

Gallery app to use instead of Google photos

Never been to big of a fan of Google photos. Don't know about anyone else but I think the layout is awful. I'm using this quickpic mod that I found today on here by wstxda. You can find the app here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-gallery-quickpic-based-4-7-4-t3790425
I also don't use yt music for music that I have on my phone or at all. I have Spotify for streaming and I use Poweramp because I bought the pro version years ago. Found a nice free app that's almost as good I'd suggest called, Musicolet which you can find on the Google play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.krosbits.musicolet
Figured I'd just leave you guys a couple suggestions for better apps that don't require root [emoji6]
