[Q] Where the heck is the vibration option? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Having an issue with go sms pro which i'm sure some have had before; there is no vibration with notifications.
Now this is being caused because for some odd reason, system vibration is turned off, or so go sms says. There is no option in ANYWHERE to enable vibration in stock TW. I was able to fix this problem with my s3 by downloading a program called audiomanager, and setting it from within there, but as of new versions of this program, there doesn't seem to be an option for it in the free version.
So i come to you in a time of need. How in the world do i enable system vibration?! :crying:

Saw this on the tmobile website. Hope it helps:

I'm getting "Object not found!" on that url after a bit of trying to load whatever it is. Mind copy/pasting the details?

If you go into messages>menu>settings>scroll down to notifications setting and make sure vibrate is checked...... The phone will vibrate even when you are in sound mode. I cant figure out how to make it vibrate only in vibrate mode for messages. Hope this helps!!!

I assume you're talking about default messaging app, and it only works for itself. If i want to use another app like go sms, i'd need to uncheck notifications in that little area, also disabling vibration.
There is a master setting that needs to be enabled for it to work in go sms, but it's no where to be found.

Did you check under setting>my device>sound>vibration intensity ?

Gonna revive this old thread for anyone who is interested in this fix.
I've tried everything in this thread and nothing worked. I decided to go to the play store and search "system settings" in hopes that someone might have made an extended settings app for this reason. I came across an app called "Smart Settings". This app allows you to create custom profiles that have an on/off toggle for notification vibration; something current touchwiz versions, if not all android versions lack. All you need to do is create a custom profile with notification vibration set to on, enable, then uninstall. There's no other app or system option that will allow you to toggle the master notification vibration setting, so 3rd party apps like gosms will work flawlessly. Switching between built in vibrate only and sound on profiles do not effect the master system vibration option.
I hope this helps anyone with this issue. It was a pain in the ass to find something that actually worked.

Success! Thanks so much, there was an app I had used ages ago that did the same thing but then they made it pro only. I didn't uninstall but froze through Titanium Backup so it's there when I get flash happy and need to restore the vibrate. Now I won't miss all my damn texts.

Glad this helped at least one person out.

SMS Vibration settings

Anyone find a solution for customizing vibration settings when receiving SMS/MMS?
NO, handcent and go sms do NOT work. Actually, when setting a custom settings in those apps, vibrations stop completely.
I've tried tasker, but it's 1:10 that the vibration settings i enabled works. Only thing i've found tasker good for is, screen on when charging.
you want to get a vibration feedback, after the SMS has been sent?
or do you simply want to get vibration when a SMS arrives? (because that can be turn on/off by default on those Apps you mentioned)
is that what you are trying to do?
I think he means setting for haptic feedback like in CM....long vibrate...short vibrate ...millisecond tuning for vibration length...etc

what do you mean they dont work? i am using handcent and the vibration patterns work for me..i can change them to whatever i want (even custom)
make sure you are entering the format properly in handcent...its 0,______,______,______ (enter your off/on values [milliseconds], make sure there are no spaces)
might want to check your device if its not working for you...there is no problem with the app
I'm refering to custom vibration settings with receiving sms/mms. Default is 2 long pulses, id like to change that.
In handcent and gosms, you are able to allowed to enter custom vibrations settings ex: 200,0,200,0, etc. When doing so in both apps, vibrations stop completely. Also, their pre-existing options for vibration settings do not work either.
I'm just picky about how my phone vibrates when receiving sms/mms. I hate the 2 long pulses and wish it were just: 0,200,0
You obviously didn't read my post.. It does work.. It's cool though

You can download "SMS popup" from the market and mirror your stock messaging notification settings on it, disable the extra stuff like the actual sms popup feature, and when you get to vibration it has custom millisecond interval switches to adjust to your liking. Don't forget to disable notifications in stock messaging under settings and be aware that your screen won't turn on when you get a text as is by default with stock messaging there might even be a setting in sms popup to turn the screen on im not sure.
Hope this helps!

I cant believe more people dont want this feature as part of custom roms, heck even samsung roms.
my phone is on silent most of the day due to uni, and the galaxy s2 has the weakest most pathetic excuse for vibrations for recieved sms/call and i often miss it.
i realise gosms and handcent have this feature, but i dont like those bloated programs and i have privacy concerns with them.

Flashed jelly bean, no longer vibrates for texts and emails

I flashed the mrom aosp jelly bean And my phone no longer vibrates for texts and emails when on vibrate mode, only phone calls. Anyone know how to fix it or what settings I need to look up?

Go into the messaging app settings and change the vibration from "never" to "always"
on the email, the gmail app should automatically have the notification, but try going into the settings for that. see what you find.

go into gmail app settings click on your email and it'll bring up the settings for notifications, same with messaging its in settings. I was going crazy over the same thing as soon as i switched over until I'd read that JB changed how notifications act so now every app has to be coded to vibrate on its own as opposed to having a system wide setting.

well I like it better this way since in theory it lets you have more control over the vibrate notifications of a lot of apps. The only issue is that a lot of the apps have yet to be optimized for JB.

The messaging app provides these three options for when to vibrate:
- Always
- Only when silent
- Never
Are there any apps or hacks that could enable the following behavior?
- If I set the phone to vibrate (using side buttons), the phone vibrates when I get a text message.
- If I set the phone to silent, the phone doesn't vibrate when I get a text message.
The only two situations I care about are Silent and Vibrate. I never ever use a regular ringer.

Vibrates only when silent instead of always.

Everytime I reboot my phone, notifications for certain apps (like WhatsApp) will not vibrate when my phone is not in silent/vibrate mode.
To fix it, I have to open up LightFlow (you can also do this in Sound Manager v2) and set the vibrate setting from "Vibrate only when silent" to "Vibrate on"
I do this every time I reboot my phone. Vibration works fine for ALL apps when in silent/vibrate mode (even for apps that I don't want to have vibrate on in silent/vibrate mode). But only MMS & SMS vibrates properly without needing to do this "fix" everytime I reboot.
I've been having this bug on all AOSP roms since Jellybean first came out. Anyone else having this issue? Is this an AOSP bug? Or could it be something is wrong with my phone? I have done a full wipe several times only to find the issue still persists.
Check in sounds menu, should be an option there, also check individual apps, I know MMS has a vibration setting

I have "Vibrate when ringing" enabled in my sounds menu, I don't really see anything else that has to do with vibrating and notifications. My individual apps are set up properly (the ones I want to vibrate are set to vibrate always, etc) I just have to go into LightFlow and set vibrate to "Vibrate on" rather than "Vibrate only when silent" before it'll vibrate when it's in audible mode like I stated in my OP.. I guess you're not having this issue either? Can you test it out? Specifically it doesn't work with WhatsApp, hmm.. I'm starting to think maybe it's a whatsapp issue, I just tested with Gtalk and it works still. Can anyone confirm?

I have mine set for always vibrate, except during quiet hours, works fine. I don't use what's app so I couldn't tell you. Could also be the ROM you're running or a host of other things. If it's just one app, then it is doing it to itself I'd imagine

VIbrate not working...any ideas on how to fix this?

Everything was fine until Tasker switched profiles to Night Mode, which was set to vibrate. Afterwards I decided to adjust that profile and now I can't get anything to vibrate. There's no haptic feedback when I type or when I tap and hold an app to uninstall it. Any ideas on what the problem is?
edit: oh and I went into Settings -> Sound to make sure the vibrate options are checked off there, and then into my keyboard options to make sure they're checked off there too.
Um I can't get Tasker to show me the tutorial pop up any more. But I remember it read something like when Tasker sets your phone to vibrate that your phone cannot disable it. Try creating another task to enable volume.
Do you have a profile set up to set it to day mode? If so try adding a task to enable sound.

[Q] Turn off notification vibration/sound on certain apps

Is there a way of turning the notifications sound and/or vibration off on certain apps, like games?
I know that you can turn off the notifications completely by going to the app info, but I still want to get notifications in the drop-down, but not the sound/vibration.
Anyone managed to do this?
Thanks in advance!
Well if the application has the option to change the notification sound then you can use a silent tone for that, not sure about the vibration though.
maybe a file explorer could allow you to silence said applications.
just my two cents.

Some apps don't have this option in them. I was thinking of something like iOS dose it's notifications (don't get me wrong... I don't like iOS.
)?
