[Q] weird things happening after flashing different roms - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently learned to flash,
So I used TWRPV to flash coz i cant access the recovery mode becoz of rooting.
1.Flashed Slim Bean. Worked perfectly.
2.Try to flash jellybam. Got flashin failed.
3. Reflshed Slim Bean.
4. Tried to flash Miui rom. Again got error, after googling i found that i have to delete two lines from the script in miui rom with note++
I did that but not worked, then i myself checked the slimbean script, and deleted some more lines from miui script and flashed, still not worked.
5. I did same to jellybam. Then one of jellybam rom worked.
6. Now after reboot some times note 2 switch off itself when in pocket or in table. Or sometime while charging with big battery on screen with stuck tiny round circle. I have to remove the battery to switch on.
and i can't turn on bluetooth also USB not working. In pc device manager when i connect phone to pc via usb it shows CDC COMMUNICATION INTERFACE (7 times), and Com neon Suspend (1 Times)
7. Now using slimbean but problem is still there.
Any idea what happened to my n7100, is my phones efs corrupted, or soft/hard bricked,
I don't have any backups.
Can anybody please help me. I posted it here coz I can't find the same problem anywhere. There arevsimilars but they are different.
And bad English coz I'm Apatani.
Sorry for that.
My note 3 was SICK from some times (from 7 Months)
Some said it was EFS corruption. my problem was occurred because I flashed my N7100 with MIUI rom built for Galaxy S3.
My Bluetooth was not turning ON (Blank in bluetooth adress), Usb not workin with PC, turning of or Freeze while phone sleeps or auto lock.
Tried many things Flashed different Modem or Kernels, Flashed all of the custom roms available for N7100, Flashed Stock from SamMobile site.
and Lost hope... then I continued my daily life with my N7100 (using Red EYE sleep disabler)
But now today I already using Ditto Note 3 v.3.0 (Used v.1.0,v.2.0,)
today Flashed Ditto Note 3 v.3.1.1 with aroma
Selected everything in Aroma Inataller (Including Updated Modem)
then in First Boot my N7100 Freezed while i was entering my Wifi Pin First Device Setup
Waithed for more then 1/2 hour but still Freezed...
then i rebooted it with removing my N7100 Batteries
then again Boot and it Widened my eyes, my mouth was open, and i was Smilin...
My N7100 Bluetooth was turning ON, my USB is connecting to PC without any secret code for UART mode, my Phablets screen turned off, I waited for around half Hour and then i Pushed my Home Button and it respond and turned on the Screen.

Firstly your very brave to do this or your too Rich to afford a new device if you brick it .
Now firstly Please dont make any changes to the existing Rom that you have downloaded seeing other Rom scripts ,
Now before flashing any rom go trough the OP to understand what OP has mentioned about flashing.
Dont Refer to Google refer to ROM OP OR THREAD any question you have post it there so you will get quick response.

Well since your phn is acting weird better flash stock rom via odin and see if the prob persist if all is fine then gv a fresh start flashing recovery and stuff and use philz recovery for flashing if it acts weird than just make the flash counter 0 and take it to service center for precise details go though ketan thread

Download Stock ROM,
Flash it it Via Mobile Odin or PC ondin,
Once flash completes Boot into recovery and do a Factory Reset+User data ,this will wipe everything on your device memory .
and then tell which rom you want to flash ill guide on how to do it.

Actually, I think I found out what exactly happened to my note 2.
The ROM I tried to flash was for s3 (MIUIv5 I9300 Note 2 Edition 3.6.21 by @muchopoli83)
This ROM was flashed after removing the two lines from updater script, the assert lines.
But after flashing my phone didn't started so I changed the ROM.
So, what should I do. Is stock ROM still important.
If yes can u please give me the link.
I found one with pit file in xda but that link is not working
And some guys with similar problems are talking that every stock ROMs are not working for problems like this.

Still got the problem
Still got the problem and cant find any solution
anybody any idea

Simply go to recovery wipe everything including format_system,
then choose any rom from N7100 development thread as your suitability .
and flash in recovery as per instructions given in OP
Then tell here what happened

looks like efs croupt no worries just flash stock rom from odin then root it with cf-root method
use triangle away to remove the flash counter and then reboot unroot from su app and ur good to go to service center
just tell them i updated this phone to latest from ota and it failed iam when it restarted there was no cellular

Do you have GSM network?
Flash Stock ROM via PC Odin v3.09 and use re-partition and Nand erase all with PIT file, Freset Autoreboot.
After flash complete everything must be ok.

I had the same problem few weeks ago. I also tried to flash alot of ROMs but same problem exist. found a solution to this problem yesterday this is what I did
1. Download leaked 4.3 it will take time because the file is 1.2gb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2499794
2. After download flash it via Odin in pda. Make sure auto reboot and f.Reset time only have check.
3. If the flash fails, it's ok but make sure it already flashed the radio and modem.
4. Reboot again in download mode then flash Philz recovery
5. Reboot in recovery mode then flash slimbean rom or any rom you prefer.
6. Install gapps
7. Wipe cache and dalvik
8. Reboot and your ok now
I'm in slimrom build 2 now. Bluetooth is ok and no more reboot when phone sleeps after few seconds.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Can not flash any custom rom to GT-P5210

Hello,
I can not flash any ROM to my GT-P5210 Tab anymore.
I was on BinDroid ONE P5210 LITE V3.0.0, but since it is discontinued
and 2 other ROMs rolled out over the past days I wanted to give it a try.
- went back to stock with official firmware from "sammobile" for my device,
- flashed TWRP with Odin 3.07
- flashed ROOT with Odin
- went to recovery did factory reset + dalvik/cache (
- flashed new ROM (neither ROM Pimpdroid or Grievous is working)
after flashing Tab goes into a bootloop to recovery. First boot after flash takes some time in the Galaxy Tab3 Logo but in the end it reboots into TWRP. I have tried CWM too with the same results.
I am not totaly new to flashing, did it with my I9000 and now with my I9300 int. but with this Tab3 now I am lost.
Any ideas are much appreciated.
regards and sorry for my english its not my native tongue

did u try root check app to c if u r truly rooted? is ur su updated? if so try reflashing the recovery...n the root file. do u have the stock kernel?
THink I Got a fix
This worked for me. The TWRP does NOT actually wipe anything. go to settings in whatever rom you are running, and do a factory data reset from there. Let it wipe all app data and EVERYTHING. Then go through the steps to install whichever ROM you want. It worked for me!! Post back and let me know if it worked for you too. I tried for 3 days to install anything, and this is the only thing that worked.:victory:

I tried your method and it worked. Another thing that works is first thing when you enter TWRP check if system is mounted, if not tick mount and then wipe the way installation of the rom suggests. This worked for me too. Thanks for ur time and the fish
Oh cool, I'm glad to help. I also tried to manually mount system, but untill I got that first ROM installed, it just un-mounted itself again. I hope these problems will be sorted out. Both recoveries act choked down somehow. (TERP, CWM) Looks like "source manifest CM 10.2 "thread is making exciting progress. I can't stop watching it. Most of it is over my head, but google helps me, in trying to grasp what they are saying.

can someone recommend a clean rom for gt-p5210

recovery stock tar file passed in odin but wont boot up!

I have flashed the boot stock recovery tar file for my Sprint sph-l900 and it says pass in odin. Then the samsung emblem comes up like its going to boot and then goes black. It wont show its charging while plugged in to charger. But if I take the battery out and hold on, home, and up buttons it will go into stock recovery. So I know that it loaded that at least. Because obviously my TWRP recovery is gone. But I don't understand why its not loading I have done this before and no the steps to take but it is not rebooting properly! I don't know if my only option left is to use ADB side load but if that is the case I do not have the faintest idea on how that is accomplished and done correctly. I woke up this morning and my phone was stuck on the boot screen of the parinoid android rom I had installed that has been working for a good while now. I installed an app to help optimize the system yesterday for better performance and it was an app for rooted phones and it had good reviews so I wasn't worried. I made sure that in the options in the app that the system files and other files that I new could not be touched by the app actions I made sure they were white listed so they would not be effected. That is the only thing that I think could have done this to my phone. And when I realized I could not recover to any nandroid backups I had, that's when I decided to just reinstall the boot recovery stock rar file but not before I wiped the correct files to get a clean install (Flash) Any way that is where I'm at and I do not know what to do...... So could any body please help PLEASE!!!!!!
:crying:
Basically your problem is the rom is incompatible with your current boot loader. You'll need to ODIN back to stock rooted MC2 then ODIN a custom recovery then modem. From there flash the rom you want. I'm not sure why you went back to stock recovery with the custom rom but it's not compatible. Or else you need to make sure the md5 is correct for the rom & other files you flashed. I'd just do what I first suggested and make sureyou have a good md5 for ythe rom you want before flashing it. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply!

I don't know about that because it was already mk4 before I ever rooted it and putt the rom on and I have already had to use the same recovery stock rar file two other times to get it back to original stock. And I haven't changed the mk4 since stock not even with the root or the rom Ive installed so it doesn't make sense especially when I have done this twice with the same rar file flashed with odin and always had good result never got stuck from not booting all the way. But so far your the only person all day i have had any advice from and you are a senior member who im sure knows what they are talking about so i guess I will have to find out how to revert from mk4 that Ive never changed to a MC2 and hope that that will do something for me im just baffled that the same thing that Ive done 2 other times wont work again....
Thanks again for the reply any other advice along the way or what ever you feel like adding is more than welcome i really appreciate you now im gonna be on the hunt for this MC2 install and what is the best steps to follow and go on....

No I had TWRP recovery but when i realized there was no getting to flash the rom nandroid BU I went ahead and did a factory wipe and all the files your suppossed to wipe and then I used odin like I have many times before and flashed the same recovery stock rar I have used before to go back to stock and start fresh any way this time odin said pass as usu-wall and then it acted as though it were going to boot and then it lit up the silver samsung emblem for a hot sec and then went black and stayed black after that even when i plugged the charger in the led light would not even show it was charging. But if I take the battery out and back in while its plugged in to charger the screen comes on with the little green battery icon and shows it charging. if i push pwr it show samsung icon then goes dead. Now if I push all the button for recovery it will boot back to stock android recovery. and i can upload one of the backups which was my last rom but it of course act as if it will load and then fails which i know is because i dont have the custom recovery any more but it didnt work either when I did and i don't know man im baffled...
The only suggestion Ive been given so far was from the senior member above and said i need to flash a earlier firmware than mk4 but that is weird to me since I have never had any thing installed on anything other than an mk4 but it make sense that it could work I just have not found the info that makes me feel confident about choices yet...
Thanks for replying any other thought please share!
Well sounds like the odin flash had some kind of issue even though it did not state one. Try going back into download mode and flash a custom recovery (twrp) then flash billards back to stock MC2. This will restore everything back even if you have the knox bootloader. Link is below for easy access. Two things twrp is recommended and do a factory reset before installing. After install reboot (apply su when asked if you want it) the phone will reboot display a messed up screen then reboot once again (normal dont worry). After that you can flash your custom recovery via odin and you should not have any more issues.

Let me know if that works for you.
So I found the write far file for mk4 and it flashed beautifully I tried a flash of the Mc2 in the reply from earleier post but it did not pass in Odin but I really expected that because I was pausitive that there was another mk4 rar that would work. And now I'm back to a fresh stock rom and I have all the flash file I need to get it rooted and custom romed in no time. I really do appreciate the help and suggestions it is nice to know there is help when needed! So thanks again and I got the file from TA TRUE ANDROID vpubmk4 firmware android 4.3 for the sprint sph-l900 I just had to do some hunting in order to find it. And it didn't help that my renters from the other side of the duplex were having their Internet fixed and the Tech accidently disconnected my lines out side so I was with out Internet for a long time and then when it was finally fixed I found this and flashed it no problems. Thanks again. If you don't mind I'm gonna send a friend request to you I don't have any friends or contacts in this forum and it would be nice to have another person to occasionally check in with? For the record (since people seem to still be having issues) you CANNOT DOWNGRADE THROUGH ODIN WITH THE NEW BOOTLOADER!!! You can however downgrade through (custom?) RECOVERY using the previously mentioned method.

[Q] Bootloops on every rom Note 2 GT-N7105

Hello!
I recently got a Note 2 (GT-N7105)
And for some silly reason wich even disappoints myself i wanted to overclock , well that didn't make sense i know but however i did it! and directly after i installed the required file (I don't remember wich one but it was for 1.8Ghz) after the installing my phone kept showing the boot logo , i tried to use my backup but even after restoring it didnt boot! I cleaned everything wich also cleaned my backup...
I been on it for about 7 hours now trying different roms , kernels , and every file i could find but nothing helps.
I now installed Cyanogenmod using CMW but even that bootloops.
The last thing i could notice is CMW showing me a E: failed to Mount /efs (Invalid argument) Wich makes me worry even more...
I honestly hope there are some good peaple who could help me with this... Finally got a great phone and by stupid mistakes i made it won't work anymore..
I don't care what rom gets on it , Even if its a hello kitty rom u won't hear me complain , If the phone works again i'll be happy!
Not sure if this helps but its a GT-N7105 , i know it had the newest android there was (4. something, i think it was 4.3)
Odin does see the device , My CMW (6.0.4.1) works and Download Mode works.
I hope anybody can help me!
In case you want to help me live wich would be awesome my skype is : chrishendriks92
If it gets fixed i will Offcourse place the solution here.
(The note is not a new one , its used and a few months old , worked 100% before my stupid decisions bricked it)
(so here's a small version)
-Every rom i tried will bootloop , It shows a different boot video/logo everytime tho
-It all happened after i tried a 2.8Ghz Overclock
-i get a EFS error in CMW
-Accidentily i deleted my backup but i don't mind whatever rom gets on it
-Download mode and CMW (6.0.4.1) works

Ok, so what I would do.
I would wipe data through CWM.
Download official ROM from sammobile.com and flash it through Odin.
I hope this will help to get the phone booted.
After that we will worry about imei recovery.

I'm downloading it , looks like its going to take a while so i'll let you know!
Try mskips toolkit from skipsoft.net. It has a recovery package that should do the trick. There is a thread on it on here but i think it's closed due to Microsoft signature issues

I'm afraid downloading/Flashing the rom didnt work.
ill get the T-Mobile screen , and then the samsung logo where it gets stuck , the install was completed tho so no errors whatsoever
This is a picture link s30.postimg.org/8l0bgrxa8/image.jpg
Would be amazing if you could help me out with this because i can't choose ''Option 2'' right picture , it just won't take it.
I can install teamviewer or whatever programm you want
I have the same problem, I'm on 4.3 version and tried to downgrade to 4.1.1 and went back to 4.3, I formatted the system through twrp with NO OS INSTALLED to be sure it is totally cleaned but all the way, I still experiencing reboot issue.
At first I encountered unfortunately systemui has stopped, done rooting and fixing permission but still no luck.
One more thing, I already flashed pit file.
.
(Update , I tried anything i could but it didnt work out , its going to Samsung Support)

You installed a kernel right? To over clock? First flash new bootloader, then flash stock kernel, then again flash stock rom, do not let the device boot up before you have done all three.

I tried Agni pure kernel and followed your instructions but no avail,I think there is problem with the board, because when I wipe, the SuperSu also erased.

I said to install stock kernel not custom kernel, and after wipe when you install stock rom you will loose root and also loose all data and apps from previous rom anyway.

yup I already did that,I flashed stock kernel from http://opensource.samsung.com/.I know reflashing stock rom will delete everything including root.
What I mean is when Im rooted and tried to wipe the phone, SuperSu also deleted.Im wondering that I have a corrupted emmc, It seems that it is not mounted correctly, although I tried to flash a pit file already.

[Q] n7100 not accepting custom roms

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction with this, I have a uk vodafone n7100 note 2 on 4.3 and as ive had it 2 years i thought i would put a custom rom on it.... ive done this before with other phones and had no problems so i did some research and decided on the latest phoenix rom
I started by putting Philz recovery and Dr Ketans tool kit on it for root etc.... then followed the youtube instruction video for phoenix rom and all went well with the fill wipe of the phone and all the cache wiping as instructed but when i got to the rom install (from external sd) i started the install and the phone said something along the lines of installation aborted and said " (bad) " which i assumed meant the rom was corrupt so i tried from some mirrors and got the same result so i wiped the phone and caches back to square one.....
Then i though i would try the Dr Ketan v7 4.4.2 rom which gave me the same result (bad)
Next (after wiping etc) i tried the DN3 latest rom which actually installed ok according to Philz, ok i though and it rebooted, the "samsung note 2 gt-n7100 " splash screen came up then changed to the next "pulsating samsung logo" screen and it stayed like that for 40 mins at which point i tried a reboot and again stuck in the same place .... I have also been though the whole process using TWRP recovery too incase there was a conflict of some kind......
I have now had to get my phone working using sammobile stock rom (which for some reason installed in german even though it was uk vodafone rom) as i use my phone as my alarm for work etc.... But i really would like to be on the phoenix rom... I have re-installed Philz and tool kit again and phone is running fine at the moment on this strange stock rom.......
Can anybody see what if anything was done wrong ??
(sorry for the lengthy post but ive spent the last 10 hours searching the forums for answers)
Thanks in advance for any help offered

Most probably in the first two cases where you tried flashing phoenix and dr ketan's v7 the rom wasn't a bad download a simple restart of recovery and trying to flash them again could have solved your issue provided the md5 of the downloaded ROM matched the ones provided by the devs. Now since you flashed official stock rom and you said you have flashed philz right? Get a copy of supersu 1.99 from here flash this from philz reboot your phone it would ask you to deknox the apps say yes then transfer the phoenix rom you'd like to flash,go back to recovery do the correct wipes , if installation fails, reboot your recovery from within the options in the main menu of philz and then try re flashing the rom.
Thanks for the reply yes I have Phil and Dr ketans tool kit on the phone which can do custom deknox would that do the same as supers you mentioned?
Also I only figured out what the md5 number was for after this all happened.... where do you check it? Does it pop up in philz or something? (Sorry for the noob-ness)

You can use online checker from here http://onlinemd5.com/ or when in philz just before you press yes to install the rom philz would display the md5 of the bottom of your screen.Yes supersu does the same thing that dr ketan's tool does but if you are comfortable with that tool you can use that instead of supersu, just giving you more options.Oh also next time please quote the post so people get notified not everyone will come back to check a thread that they have posted in to see if the person they responded to has replied or not ,especially this Q&A thread.Good luck.

[Q] Multiple problems after flashing Stock

Hello everyone,
After a long fight to try and get this phone back to normal, everything seemed good,
except not really
I started on a buggy CM11 version. Sick of it, I downloaded a 4.4.4 stock rom. I had to disable firewall and defender, but I got Odin to flash my md5. I got through everything and it booted successfully. After signing in and all that jazz, I find out that my WiFi isn't working. After a few reboots, My 4G finally works and everything seems to be steady.
Then, after exploring the rest of the phone I find out that all my apps from last ROM are still there. I know that you are supposed to wipe before flashing, but I was told that Odin will take care of that. It obviously didn't.
After THAT, I try to boot into Recovery as the next sensible step is to try to wipe my data and cache. I turn the phone off and press (Vol up + Home + Pwr) and the first boot screen shows for a moment. It says in blue "RECOVERY BOOTING" in the corner. Right after, it disappears and in another second it does the same screen without the "RECOVERY BOOTING". And as presumed, it does a regular boot.
What did I miss? How can I wipe my phone from recovery? How can I fix my problem with Wifi?
Reflash in Odin.
Make sure you have the correct stock rom. If you flash the "md5" you may have flashed the wrong thing. The md5 is not tge firmware, that is just the code that verifies your firmware file is not corrupted.
If your old apps were still there, you flashed the wrong thing. There is no way to flash stock firmware in odin and not wipe the data partition.
You are correct then
Yeah, I flashed a tar.md5 in Odin. It gave me a new ROM but all my apps are there. After all that, I still can't go to recovery. I tried using the terminal and ROM Toolbox to go there, both didn't work. Can I just leave it as it is and find a way to recovery or is the only way to go to bootloader and flash a correct file to get to recovery?
Flash twrp and see if it will reboot into recovery, then factory reset and flash latest firmware with Odin right after. Odin will NOT wipe data. It has to be done manually

It depends on what you ate flashing.
If you are flashing a full stock factory image it will wipe user data. If you are just flashing a system partition it won't.

How do I know whatever I download is deodexed? And I went to a page of ROMs someone gave me and I downloaded the NK2 version, which also gave me a tar.md5. If I want the correct thing to flash, what should I flash?

The first post of any customized stock rom will tell you if its deodexed. If it doesn't say it...its not.
@Essem G:
Any updates for us? I'm following this thread because I have similar problems with my WiFi not working after upgrading from 4.2.2.
Any luck getting TWRP flashed?
Also I believe that the stock firmwares do come as tar.md5's, as in the file: M919UVUFNK2_M919TMBFNK2_M919UVUFNK2_HOME.tar.md5 from ShinySide's stock firmware thread.
As for the WiFi issue, from the hours of reading I've done it looks like this problem occurs when you upgrade your firmware, but it no longer matches the bootloader. Such as bootloader (Baseband) showing MDL, but Build Number showing NH7, NK2, etc. What does your show?
This thread may be of use to you when you get back to a working ROM. Good luck!
@RavenMind1
Everyone has been saying different answers and i've put off fixing my device for a while. I'm just afraid i'll brick it forever and have another nightmare after this current one. So no, there has been no progress. I think i'm gonna try to flash Philz and format my system, then flash a deodexed rom. @g7755725 said that you can flash TWRP, but I usually use Philz. It appears to be that I have lost root access because no root features work and SuperSU won't recognize it. Will everything work or am I setting my self up for disaster?
Edit: Where can I find a deodexed rom? I desperately need one, thanks

If you're trying to go back to complete stock then just Odin NK2 firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/firmwares-official-mdl-mk2-nb4-t2816508 I used the NK2 from here about 2 days ago to go back to stock.
