[Guide]To UnBrick (a Soft Brick) SGS GT-I9000

Hey Users
I wanted to create this guide as I'm seeing allot of SGS users bricking there phone..This guide works for SGS GT-I9000 only..
ALSO USE THIS GUIDE IF AND ONLY IF U SEE THE FOLLOWING IMAGE WHNE BOOTING YOUR PHONE(attached image:1)
Downloads:
1. Odin3_v1.00 download here
2.The PIT file here
3.USB Drivers form here(This Is Optional if it is already installed by your phone, else you need to download it and install it)
Steps:
1.Run Odin3
2.Select "pit" and add the pit file u downloaded
3.Put ur SGS to download mode
--Do so by Pressing the 3 button combo Volume Down+Home(Center) Button+Power button
--Hold it till you see the Download screen(attached image:3)
Then go back to odin and see if your phone is connected (attached image:2)
Make sure re-partition is un-checked
Hit the Start button and wait..it'll unbrick your phone and load the previous Fimrware/Rom...
Enjoy

This will not solve anything if u cant get into download mode, and usually if your phone is bricked then u cant access download mode, so your thread should be called how to fix your phone when its soft bricked
you sir, are a gentleman and a scholar!!!! Got my dad's phone back from the black-screen-of-death.
That pit file saved my life, otherwise i would of had one angry Dad, lol.
Thank you!!
Way better than flashing Darky 10.2 RE every single time like I did. Thanks I'll try it as i get a softbrick frequently.
I hate to be that guy, but this "guide" is somewhat incomplete and misleading:
first of all the very first and important step is making sure one has installed the appropriate drivers and that the OS recognizes the phone through DL mode, otherwise Odin will suck on "setting up connection" (this is the most common cause for soft brick during flashing)!
second: if there's no re-partition, there's no need for pit neither, because that's exactly it's used for: it contains the partition table structure layout for the official firmwares.

This is just soft-unbricking, its been posted how.
And most of the time this doesn't even solve any issue.
Can u give me the links who already post the this title again.. but soon I will suggest u all the mod for galaxy w
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda app-developers app
Your title suggests to how to unbrick a hardbricked SGW, but what you are describing is a simple flashing after your ROM rendered to be not booting. This happened already to many of us who tested many ROMs forth and back and has been discussed in many threats, so it´s not new.
This can be done with CWM or even with Odin if you can´t access CWM recovery but only the download mode.
But what we would need is a solution for a hardbricked SGW.

THIS is working to me. That time I mistaken delete some system file, after reboot my device I am stuck on SGW logo there. After I using this steps, my phone works again: D

is this for hardbrick or softbrick?
if this is softbrick, just get into cwm and install a rom..if this is a hardbrick or your phone cant turn on how can you manage to go to cwm with a dead phone??hfftt..
some advice : use jig(if you have one) or go to ssc..

Exactly. I would say a softbrick is when nothing works (even not CWM recovery) exept the download mode. Then you still can unbrick it by flashing the rom via Odin.
This happened to me once. Not a big deal, but a bit risky if something goes wrong while Odin is flashing the rom.
A hardbrick is when even the display doesn´t work and you are even not able to access the download mode. In some cases it´s still possible to unbrick it via Odin by entering the Download Mode with a trick or by doing it "blind".
There is for example a resistor+usb plug solution to enter the download mode in such a cese. Not sure it works with our SGW too, but it works with most Samsung devices.

That was also my intent in my earlier post, because the described procedure has nothing to do with unbricking the phone. It only describes a way how to reflash a rom.

How to erase my N7100 screen HS

Hi guys,
I broken my screen and for financial reasons I prefer to resell it. Now I want to reset my n7100 to erase my personal data ...
What are my options?
By connecting to Kies => no reset button but just backup and restore! It seems incredible to me also
By causing a recovery mode => helping me a video on youtube for the manipulation to the blind but I can not do it, I still have my data reconnecting to Kies.
Do you have a solution for me please?
I think my home button no longer works due to the breakage of the screen as possible to enter the recovery mode
Use an application called Toolkit for Note 3. Its got all the option youll need.

Not sure about that. There will be kernel differences and such. Can you tell us why you want to ODIN flash the stock FW instead of flashing a flashable stock FW through recovery?

Thanks for your reply man. the reason why is because i'm stuck at the upgrade encountered an issue screen and can only enter download mode. I've tried downloading the unofficial stock metro file but it fails to download everytime. I've only been able to download the stock tmobile.

Ahh. Are you able to connect your phone through Kies? This page explains this process but I've never used it. Looks promising: http://androidcentral.us/2013/09/how-to-fix-firmware-upgrade-encountered-an-issue-on-kies/

Go into Settings, the More tab, About Device, then click Status. Scroll all the way down and you'll see your Serial #. Hopefully Kies accepts this one.

Alright. Try this even if you have tried it before:
1) Download this unofficial M919N stock rom since an official one doesn't exist as far as I'm aware.
2) Press the Volume Down + Home + Power button until you get into Download mode. Press up to continue. You will now be in download mode.
3) Open up Odin, select PDA, select the file you downloaded in step 1.
4) Make sure Auto-Reboot is the only thing that is checked.
5) Press Start.
6) Wait for it to finish and you should be able to access your phone. Then go into Settings, the More tab, About Device, then click Status. Scroll all the way down and copy your Serial #.
7) Open up Kies and see if it lets you upgrade your FW to the official M919N MetroPCS one.
Let me know how it goes.
