Should I go with the fake or real lifeproof? - Galaxy S III Accessories

It has been a debate ive been having with myself for the last few weeks. Just go with the $15 fake lifeproof case off aliexpress, or dish out the 89.99 for the real lifeproof. To me, it couldn't possibly be worth $75. Plus I have watched a lot of youtube videos of the fake lifeproof cases and they all seem to work fine. What do you guys think/recommend? Its a tough choice..$90 is a lot of money to throw around for a case.

Im currently using the fake from aliexpress and i like it. Only gripe is the screen plastic under the sun. Its not as clear under direct sun and even with brightness at 100.
Im really tempted on getting the real LP, but have to read reviews first

Sounds like you've already made up your mind, but think of it this way....how much do you care about your phone? If t breaking isn't a big deal and you're not worried, don't bother with the real version. If you actually want to keep your phone protected and plan on keeping it a while then I'd get the real one. I have no plans on upgrading to a new phone for at least another year if not longer so for me it's worth it to pay for a good case.

Need a good Case? Captivate Hybrid Tough Case... Interested?

OK, there have been a few different post asking about available hard cases for this phone and there seems to be very few if any that are worth having. I have been looking around at different companies trying to get some hope and came across a company out of Tucker, Ga called Case-mate. They make many different styles of cases for many different phones, even one for the Vibrant. So what I have done is posted on their feedback and product forum requesting support for the Captivate. Please if you are interested a hard case for the captivate and like what you see on their site BE PROACTIVE! Post on their site and ask for what you want, tell them what you would be interested in. Don't just leave it up to these companies to brush aside the Captivate because of lack of interest. The squeaky wheel gets the oil!

$30? Jeez that's a 1/5th of the phone cost heh.

If it's a quality case I wouldn't mine it at all. I'd rather spend $30 on a case that I will be happy with and will last for a long time than spend $10 on a crappy case that doesn't fit right and doesn't last a month.
I'd really like to see Incase make a case for the Captivate. Their iPhone cases are awesome.

Complain about paying $30 for case but when you drop your phone that one time and the screen cracks it would be a lot cheaper than paying for a new phone. Some people just don't understand that quality does always come cheap, hell an Otterbox for the iPhone 4 is $50 and I would plunk that cash down in a heartbeat for a quality case.

I just saw that. Pretty lame. Didn't stop me from voting for the other captivate suggestions however.
I'm shocked the admin wrote that. You would think they'd be in the business of wanting to make money

just found a supa good deal...

well...I guess it's all relative what a "good deal" is, but I got married on friday, graduate school in 3 weeks, and have yet to find a full time, salaried position with benefits. I'm currently turning a wrench in a shop as much as I can on weekends to make some $$, but the GI Bill has helped wonders.
In short, I stay strapped for cash. Never broke, but always lookin for a deal

Came across this just now, and didn't even hesitate to order. I figured even if the whole package sucks, I paid under 10 bucks for expedited shipping. If it works out, I've got a case til I decide which nice one to get (OB or Seidio prolly...) and car charger (already have a decent screen protector). For 10 smackeroos, I'll take that risk
Either way...not trying to advertise, hope this isn't interpreted as such, I just figured this deal had to be shared!
Looks like a good deal to me. I don't like cases though. I like my.phone like my women... naked. The captivate is too pretty to hide behind a case.

I got this one last week, will be writing a reveiw soon. The case is good, the charger is ok but is not for a Captivate, the bag says is for a Motorola Razr and the screen protector can't say nothing because I am using a different one.

thanks for the info. that's pretty much about what I expected. I wasn't gonna worry about the screen protector, as I, like you, am using a different one, mainly i bought it 'cause i figgered it might work out to a cheap, halfway decent case, and a bonus charger

Stilgut ultra slim case

Hey guys
Has anybody got the case below?
Any thoughts on it?
Is it worth the 45 quid?

I bought a case just like this one and I'm really happy with it . Only difference? I got mine for less then one third of the price (it is a no-brand... but it looks the same as the pictures in your link and it's really great).
For more info, look at the thread talking about the one I got (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338546). Also, if you wish to check pictures/price here's an ebay link where I bought it from (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270831391457&ssPageNam e=ADME:L:OC:AU:1123).
[Edit] Just spotted a difference on the pictures (at least I believe it is). The case you posted has leather on the "inside" of the case too, whereas my case has... dunno, something else . I'm guessing the all leathery look would be nicer, but that's the difference between a no-brand and a branded name I guess.
The best part about this case is that you can actually keep your Tab in it all the time, even when you want to use the camera or charge the device. This is very important to me as I carry it around all the time and my little brother and sister use my Tab from time to time, and of course they aren't as careful with it as I am. Having it in a case all the time definitely helps me relax when I see them handling my precious device

Check the forums, this same case is sold under many different names, so several people have started threads. II got it for $15 american (and they refunded that after I left a good review). Best case for the tab, but 45 quid (@$70) is insanely overpriced.
I have it. But as sad before you can have it for less money.
I've had mine about a month now,
Ok it's not the cheapest but considering what it's protecting is ten times the value of the case it's worth it. It's not the first case I've used but it's the best so far, well made, solid and sturdy.
The different angle positions are very useful.
As mentioned before it's not the cheapest but neither is my tab, so to me it's worth the extra few quid.
Hope this helps.
get the clip case from pyro skins, it's just the same one but much cheaper...
I got the one from Amazon branded Moko, but looks the same. Paid $18 US for it, and I absolutely love it.

Galaxy Flip Cover - Worn out!

Been using it for 1.5 Months, i know it's under some stress, but common, is it that cheap??
Are the edges stitched?
I have the same problem with mine, and I have heard of a lot others to with ruined flip cases. Poor quality.. I hope this dont reflect the quality of the actual phone..

This is my 3rd galaxy phone, never had ANY problems with them hardware wise.
So i'm not worried, they just didn't think the flip cover through when they designed it.
I don't think it's stitched, it's glewed, it's not real leather too, it's plastic.
The concept isn't that bad however the actual design is a real shame.
I can confirm the same worn out symptoms after 2 months of use.
The Note itself is fine.
The case is not made by Samsung and is probably contracted out to the lowest bidder. Granted that doesn't make it any better since we still spend a fair amount of money on accessories like this. But it doesn't really reflect on the actual Samsung device quality imo.

Theres a reason this case is offered freee every where.
For christ's sake, why won't any other company create the same case with higher quality material that doesn't leak glue?
not worth it even cheap
I just bought some stuff from amazon.co.uk sent to my UK address (as the idiots won't ship to Oz). I could have bought the stock Note case quite cheap but did not based on your experiences.
Hopefully reduced sales will get them thinking, but that is reaching, I guess.
Same here!
Original cover has worn out on the edges, so I have started looking for the good cover. Any good suggestions?
If it was 4$ id get 10 of them and change every 2 months. But the one i have cost 25$
I am happy i saved u some $$$ i doubt samsung cares about the flip cover.

[Q] Personal tips for a (soon to be) Note II user?

Well, I'm no stranger to large phones. I currently have my trusty Dell Streak Mini with me running along with DSC but my contract's coming to an end and I have made the choice on getting the Note II in about a week or two. Seemed right considering I couldn't let go of my 5 inch screen and Best Buy was giving away $50 gift cards left and right allowing to pay $50 less for for the phone. I've been reading up a lot on the phone and have just been wondering what exactly are some of your own personal tips you find handy with the device? I'm a bit of a power user so I like learning neat ways of doing stuff
here's an important tip
quit asking about the phone and just buy it now...you cant imagine how much better it is than any other phone out right now..

Believe me, I'd do it in a heartbeat but my contract doesn't end until the end of next week
if you go to the att store, or even best buy, they will let you get it now...I guarantee they don't care you are a couple of weeks away from the end...
If you go to an AT&T store they will let you upgrade up to 14 days in advance. At least that's what they've told me.

Best tip ever:flash the latest clean rom ACE 4.5 when you get it
Att stores don't do price match and their prices are usually higher than best buy or anyone else. In other words, buy your phone at best buy or some place other than att stores.

That's not true, Att is a lot cheaper then best buy if your buying out right. Now on contract it just depends on who has a better deal for a two year agreement.

Well after you purchase the phone this "GALAXY Note II User's Digest" on the play store has some good tips.
ALso there are a number of youtube videos showing tips.
Put it in a case. This phone can be pretty fragile.
Use the volume increase mod, or the latest Perseus kernel to gain access to audio tweaks. The headphone jack by default is a bit quieter than other phones (well, it's quiet for me anyway).

I'll be getting it from best buy. I get paid at the end of this week so I'll buy it over the weekend. Best Buy was also where I got my Streak and they were handing out $50 gift cards at the beginning of the month which can be used towards the phone making the final cost $150 before taxes.

I was thinking about getting a case too. Everyone I've talked to says otterboxes are pretty great at protecting phones. I've personally never needed one but I'll be looking into the otterbox commuter.
Personally, I use a Belkin folio case, but I just ordered a Spigen Hardbook. I enjoy the flip-style cases, but everyone has a preference. I think the flip-style cases add a bit of class to the phone. I would love a full leather folio of some sort, but genuine leather is a bit expensive :/
Oh, and my screen scratched. I recommend the iSmooth screen protectors. You literally forget that they're even on there. I'm not impressed with the 'gorilla glass' on this phone. Seriously, not a single one of my other phones scratched before and this is the first time I've ever used a screen protector. It literally scratched in my pocket (nothing else was in the pocket, must've been a grain of sand or something).
The otterbox is great, but it's BULKY. I can't comment on the commuter, but you definitely don't want to add much more bulk to an already large phone. To each his own though, if you can live with a little more baggage, go for it
