[Q] Uncertain about what mod to install. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I just got a N7105 with 4.1.2, and I want to install CM10.1 on it.
But the ROMS i can find are for the 't0lte' device. My device was bought in Norway, so its probably a Nordic edition and it says it is a 't0ltexx' device. Is t0lte==t0ltex ? That is my main question.
I'm a bit confused by this, because I read that the 4.2.2 source code is supposedly out, but i then I also read that since the Note 2 and the S4 has different hardware (Exynos), it would not be possible to make a real CM based on 4.2.2 for the 7105 until Samsung publishes that code?
I see there are no stable version of CM for the 7105 yet. My question is then, should i wait until Samsung releases 4.2.2 for the 7105 and the mod developers to 'update' it? Or is the Nightly CM builds actually quite stable ?
This is my main device so I'd rather not take any chances!

t0lte is the code name for the GT-N7105!
Where does it say it's a "'t0ltexx"? If the phone identifies itself as a GT-N7105 you are fine to flash any t0lte firmware to it. Just DO NOT flash a GT-N7100 to it, because you'll be very sad then.
I advise you to read the cyanogenmod thread for details about how stable it is, what does/doesn't work. To all intents and purposes the information in that thread will apply to your GT-N7105 equally.

Humm sorry for late reply, I thought I answered you already, obviously I must have closed the window!
Both CPUZ and CPU Identifier says the device is 't0ltexx'. I've been reading some more on the development of CM for 7105 and I might as well wait. They have trouble making phone calls, which is one of the main purposes of my phone
I will probably just root it.

There hasn't been a stock Android firmware for the S4 mini. The posts you have been seeing are stock Samsung firmwares which are meant for reflashing in the event something goes wrong / you want to revert the phone back to its original state.
There is only a custom rom coming up for the S4 mini LTE version (Cyanogen)

[Q] Which 4.2.2 ROM and when is 4.3 coming?

Hey guys.
Coming from Desire S that went swimming, I found Ace 2 pretty similar, but missing more support in terms of ROMs.
In Desire S part of forum, there is a thread that has all the ROMs linked in one post, separated by android version. Could somebody do that?
Which ROM is currently newest and fastest?
Also, when can we expect 4.3 ROM to be available? Excuse my ignorance, but I really dont know what it takes for a ROM to be compiled on this device? I always thought that android is backward compatible with older devices..

answer:
1. all roms on 1 post are on ace 2 general section. please search before asking...
unfortunately, ace 2‘s jb still has lag eventhough already stable. Most people use CM..
2. Recent news, ace 2 only support until 4.2.2. source: www.sammobile.com/2013/03/18/galaxy-s-ii-galaxy-note-to-get-android-4-2-2-android-5-0-for-the-galaxy-s-iii-galaxy-note-ii/

Which one is "best"? Whats with that GPS bug?
4.2.2 is last for official version, but why cannot 4.3 be ported to this hardware? What are limitations?

1. you still can‘t use gps. I use sygic and when I opened it, it force closed automatically. no one is the best at this cm‘s rom because now there is only one cm builder (cm10 is dh.harald and cm10.1 is bagnzor. CM 10 is 4.1.2 and CM 10.1 is 4.2.2. eventhough both of them have bugs, you still can use it as daily purpose. you will get better explanation if you ask on rom‘s thread
2. 4.2.2 for ace 2 is only for CM version and for official is still prediction. Samsung has not release any official ROM 4.2.2 for ace 2, but instead they release ace 3. No further information whether this device will get 4.3 or not (don‘t know the limitation yet, but from the experience of jb I think ram is not high enough for 4.3 and samsung has already release ace 3 so it may be favored to it. From the news also known that samsung only release 4.3 for quadcore devices). So, if you want 4.2.2 but liked ace 2, go buy ace 3. if you want 4.3, go buy nexus series
Hey, actually I am still using the old galaxy 5, which supports officially only from, but one developer gave us cm7,9,10 and now 10.1!!!!

[Q] CM11 ROM question

I have a TMobile Note 3 with 4.3 rooted using RDLV with KNOX 0x0. I am tired of the stock ROM and I want to switch to CM11. Here are my questions:
1) What's the difference between hlte and htletmo versions?
2) Can I use the htle version since it is being updated more often?
2) I came to Note 3 from an S3. It looks like there were more CM stable versions for S3 and Note 3 only ever has had night-lies..why is that?
3) With reference to the question above, How will that affect development of future versions of CM?
4) Will T Mobile's wifi calling work with CM11?
5) If not, which ROM would it work with and is it safe to use that ROM?
6) Which is the most maintained/updated/used ROM for Note 3 apart from CM11?
Thanks
PS: I have gone through the forums to the best of my abilities to find answers. Please forgive me if I missed one and don't forget to point me to the thread with the answer

I've been pouring through various forums concerning the hlte and hltexx, etc stuff. and have found no definitive answers either..
I'm new to the note as well coming from a string of other devices, honestly this stuff is kind of a headache.
I still haven't found anything very useful.. but what i've gathered is that hltexx seems to be the most common thing across ROMs that should work on our tmo variant..
but if you read this: http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/unified-builds you'll see that we will have to flash hlte versions, at least for CM.
Seeing as you want to flash CM, you'll probably be okay flashing the hlte version.
I have no idea if that's a CM specific thing or if it's being adopted across the board by various devs..
it seems that no matter what you do, it might require editing out the device check line from the updater-script,
just like from some ROMs for the S3 (haven't used that phone in a long time, though, so don't think that's a current issue, anymore.)
aside from that, I can't answer any of your other questions, as I haven't flashed any custom ROMs for this device, yet.
but, if this phone is like any other tmo phone, you'll lose wi-fi calling if you switch to any ROM that is NOT based on the stock ROM that was shipped with the device.
i.e. no AOSP or CM based ROM will have wi-fi calling. there are always alternatives to wi-fi calling though.
Thanks for the answer.

1) HLTETMO are the old non-unified builds. HLTE builds are "unified," and will work across networks, as far as I understand it. What this does is get more developers on the project for everybody since these devices--aside from very minor differences (I'd imagine the RIL, but I could be wrong) between Note3 devices.
2) Yes. Use the HLTE version. I'm pretty sure HLTETMO is dead...and that's a good thing. Things were a little buggier at first for the unified builds, but, they have gotten much better much faster and are currently better than the last TMO builds.
2) See above
3) See above...I can only speculate but I imagine that will concentrate the developer pool that works on devices. Instead of 4 (or more) disparate HLTE (or whatever device) teams of devs they will now all work together. That can only help things along. Again, only speculation. Time will tell.
4) I, personally, don't care about that feature but I do recall seeing some HOWTOs on WiFi calling on CM. But I highly doubt that will ever become a part of the build. That's not a concern of CM. They have enough things to worry about.
5) I'm an AOSP only kinda guy so I don't actually know, but, I'd imagine any TW based ROM will work fine with WiFi calling.
6) See #5. I wish I could help you out on this one, but, I can't. I'm an AOSP only kinda guy. The first thing I did when I got my $700+ phone home was invalidate the warranty. Knox? Pffft, whatever. Right now I can assure you that CM11 is in a highly developed form. It is daily driver status, IMHO. All the major stuff works and works well...and performance is top notch...especially with the ART (Android Run Time....screw Dalvik). Battery life isn't as good as TW roms, but, it isn't far off. The only thing missing is S-Pen features, but, there is another thread around here that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the utility of the stock S-Pen features.

CyanogenMod question.

Hello guys! So I just had a quick question about the t0ltetmo ROMs from CyanogenMod. I asked on their Facebook page but some jack off that "works for CyanogenMod" was just rude as hell, and called me stupid. So does anyone know if CyanogenMod unified the t0lte ROM and is safe for flashing on other variants? The t0ltetmo, t0lteatt etc. Thanks guys! And if you could, send me a link where they announced that? I saw the post that said they were going to make a unified ROM but they never posted and said it was done. Thanks all!
From my experience if you see t0lte, t0lteatt, t0ltetmo, N7105, it should be fine to install if your device is any of those you just may happen to flash a modem afterward if the ROM includes one and it isn't your device.
In short, it's safe.

Thanks! So even if the ROM wasn't unified, it has no way of bricking my phone real bad? If it doesn't work, it can be restored with a backup? Cuz yea, I have the t-mobile version, and the ROM I'm talking about was made for the international. It MAY be unified, not sure.

I've been flashing all sorts of ROMs under the previously mentioned codenames with no issues. Stay away from other Galaxy Note II codenames though, N7100, i605, l900
Thanks for your help man! Also, which variant do you have?
t0lteatt. Wish I had the t0ltetmo since I'm on T-Mobile and this ATT one won't get LTE some reason

SGH-T889 turned into a 7100, can this be fixed?

So I was running 4.4.4 (I forget who's build) and I just did a search on marshmallow and I saw a CM 13 so I flashed it without reading. I know, stupid noob. Anyways, my phone now says it is a GT-N7105 on android 6.0.1.
I do not like it. Before I try, I was curious if anyone knows if flashing it back is possible.
Thanks
N7100 or N7105?
i317, N7105, T889 are universal and every lollipop(?)+ROM will be branded as N7105 to my knowledge since there's no reason to maintain three different sources

I don't think there's no practical reason to not like that "cosmetic" change, but can understand the feeling. If you really can't stand it so much, you can get a build prop editor and change the model name yourself. I don't think there's any app relying on that info nowadays.
On the other hand, I kind a wonder if those three models are exact same ("universal") down to PIT level. Not that it matters unless you want to increase the size of userdata or something.
Boot into download mode to confirm the phone's model #. Once you have the model #, find the latest firmware from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.
