[Q] Searching for a specific UI - Design, Prototyping, UI, Graphics

Hi everybody!
I'm making my first multi-launcher theme, and actually trying to create my apk.
I saw a UI that perfectly fits with my expectations and that is used in a lot of themes apps. A lot of different developers use it so, i think it's a pre-created template or something like that.
Sadly, i don't manage to find it anywhere, searching with google search per picture, per words, on xda, etc...
So, does anyone know where it can be found or if it's not a pre-created UI (see attached file)?
Thanks in advance!
(french guy, trying to do my best in english, sorry for possible mistakes)

Hi
Are you referring to the Cards UI?
If so, that is super easy to implement.
Download this 9png and set it as the background of the view for which you want the Card style : http://db.tt/q7xTkXaX
Then, add an 8dip padding on all sides
That's it!

A series of questions for the Experts

Hi guys,
first off let me give you props for having such a great site that is much help to newbies such as myself. I have a series of questions (just a few) that might be stupid but i'm curious to know if:
1) Is there any way to change the background of the text messaging screen? (i'm getting sick of looking at the white background)
2) Is it possible to change the default (system) font to something else? something, er... non traditional?
3) How do you set a background picture for the "slide to unlock" iphone simulator app? (the latter is a question from my forum-phobic brother)
I think that pretty much covers it, I hope I can get great minds to think (or at the very least make them chuckle)
1) no. and it is a good thing. i prefer my text readable )
2) it is. i saw cab files for that. search the modding and development forums
3) sure, it even includes a settings app. you have to put a wallpaper.jpg file somewhere in the s2u2 folder. you can also alter the corresponding registry key.
1) try this
2) it is, but I can't remember how...
3) Answered well above. There is a Customize S2U2 thread with lots of wallpapers, and other image files.
You may get better answers using the "Questions and answers" sticky in the development and hacking forum here.
hmm, thanx guys
sorry if i'm such a nuisance by the way. I appreciate the sugestions
2) Try this ;-)
hey SamuelTee, I downloaded your cab but it keeps saying there's an error and it needs to quit any suggestions? sorry if i'm annoying by the way. l3v5y, the program was awesome thanx all you guys your awesome.

Just RC33's ?

Hi all,
I will say now that i am a total noob and for the life of me can't code, BUT i do love this site and all the work that is done and i really admire it all,the way i see it is that if it aint on the xda developers website then it aint worth it i have now managed to root my UK G1 and install custom boot screens, I have noticed however that there don't seem to be any RC9 themes yet, am i missing them or are there just none at this stage?
Kind regards.
Doobs x
there is a script that should be able to convert the theme of your choice to any build of your choice(RC9 included) but it will only move the images, if you want the hex edits the dev did then you will need to move them yourself(unless i missed that update on the script) hit the search button and find it
Thanks for the up! The Vekktor them is No.1 for me so far Now if anyone falls upon this post after asking the same question without really opening your eyes like me this will be the right post to look in:-

MySmartPanel English v0.1

Hey guys, was a bit bored yesterday travelling from Singapore to Malaysia. So I started making a translation of the Korean MySmartPanel.
This is v0.1 as I have only changed a few things. Will change relevant URLs as possible, and as much other stuff as possible when I get back to Sweden and can use my Data Transfering again to verify the work. As of now, since I do not have Korean character support, I have simply made educated guesses of what these titles link to. And as I am noob at DLL editing I don't know how to extend bit-strings, resulting in "Applications" being called "App" etc. If someone knows how to make bit strings longer without messing up internal references please let me know and I will correct it.
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

MrRusch: Feel free to add this link to your first post. Also sorry if you didn't want me doing this, I can take it down if you want.
good work.thanks.
Thanks for this. Nice to have something new to play with.
Now... If someone could translate the 'create your own panel page'
http://xperia.diocean.co.kr:8089/write.aspx
It would seem that you can choose two background pictures for normal and portrait mode and pick different program sets from the drop down list.
Not sure about the other fields though.
there was an italian website that had a english section that let u make your own panel. google it and im sure it will come up.
i make lots of panels from it. all u needed was a text doc with the html code and 4 pictures, 2 portrait (one large and one small) and 2 landscape pics (also one large and one small). the pics are just what i see in the panel manager.

Let's talk about fonts. FlipFonts!

Hello everyone. It seems that I can't see any other thread with this topic in my searches so I'm starting a new one.
FlipFonts are built-in to our Samsung Galaxy S's and they're quite nice. What are your thoughts on them, and do you have a favourite one?
My favourites are Dave Gibbons and Soho Gothic. I wish there were free fonts, or better yet, a way to use OpenType/TrueType fonts.
UPDATE /// Create Your Own Flipfonts!

I present you with two threads. The first is my How-To thread with everything you need to start making FlipFonts. First time will probably take you about 20 minutes, After you get use to the steps you can make one in 5 minutes.

The next thread is the Vibrants Master List of user created FlipFonts. All that I ask is that you post your flipfonts in this thread so that they are all located in one location. We have been trying to keep the fonts in the first few posts with links that allow for download in the XDA tapatalk app.

Thanks a bunch to Ritalin for this. Hopefully a lot of people will join in making more FlipFonts available.
Here's my first try in making a FlipFont: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7776274&postcount=201

agree, i've been pondering about that as well, there should be a way to convert/import regular TrueType fonts into our phones
I've seen other fonts being and installed by users, but am I right in thinking that you need your phone rooted to be able to use them properly?
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735148 u have to be rooted, but its working with truetype fonts.
how can i use the flipfonts?
sorry for the Q

the official route is to buy them from Market then
Settings => Display => Font Style
I do like the Helvetica Nueue and Frutiger but none of the flipfonts I've tried seem to include a bold weighting (important for me when seeing what email is unread, also the time in status panel should be bold etc).
Droid Sans (the default) is pretty cool though anyway.

It's a pity no one's figured out how to package them in an apk for installation by non-root users. All good stuff though.
My favorites are Helvetica Neue and Soho Gotic (my #1 favorite), though some applications look a bit ugly when using other fonts than Droid Sans.

and could you tell about unofficial route pls?
Are you guys serious... I created a method for making your own FlipFonts and posted it in every Galaxy S variant forum on XDA, Im a Vibrant user. Hell my howto was even posted on AdroidSpin last week.
This method does NOT need root and works just like the fonts in the market.

Dude, I'd give you 3 stars and a pint of your favourite drink for sharing this with us.
--- EDIT ---
Already created my first FlipFont! I'll be posting it in that thread. Off to create screenshots now. It didn't come out as good as I wanted, it looks a bit too small, but hey.
No problems... I'm glad so many people have found the how to useful.
If you want to check your font size before making the apk double click on any of the capital letter glyphs after you do the paste special. This will open up the edit window for that glyph. You should see the original guides for android fonts listed there. Use the cap height and other to see if the new characters are too small or too big.

did something happen to the font thread?
yes, why are the fonts missing?
Wondering too.I created some flipfonts.now where to post?maybe I'm allowed to share them here again.
post to keep this thread up or shall I start a new one with a collection of all flipfonts/my flipfonts?
Thanks for the tutorial.
Soon, i'm converting the fonts on my PC to my SGS!

[Q] Automatic Quick Links

Hi Guys,
Has anyone heard of - or thought about a way to have a new quick link automatically created after the predetermined amount are used up?
For example: In Sense 2.5 after you fill up the 3x3 grid another quick link is automatically created and so on as you fill each of the next ones. I'd prefer this as opposed to a predetermined amount of quick links.
If anyone's interested let me hear your ideas, thanks!
Hello my friend!
Why don't you just install a mod that allows to change the amount of quicklinks? CHT for example.

Hey,
CHT is OK for some folks, I guess. But I want to explore the possibilities of having a new quick link bubble automatically pop up once, your old ones are full. I don't like having a a bunch of unncecessary slots for apps that I may or may not use. Have you ever heard anyone else discussing this?
Nope
I understand your idea, but without programming skills this isn't possible. I'm not a CE developer ;]
I never saw something like that for Sense.
Thanks for the reply though, I'll keep looking and trying to figure out how this could be done.
Maybe you should ask the CHT Team? They're still improving the mod, I think that they could be interested in your idea.
Hi Brandon, CHT does do what you are asking for. While it doesn't pop up automatically, you can make "empty" slots not show. I attached a pic of my 2nd quick tab as an example.
