Try this. Take the battery out and then put it back and turn the phone on.
Are you on CWM 4? If yes, its a bug in that version. When you charge the phone while turned off, to turn it on you'll have to take the battery out and put it back in.

Clear battery stats. Switch off the phone. Charge straight for 2.5-3 hrs. Disconnect the charger. Power on.

I'll chime here, as I do have the same problem...

I do have v2.5.0.1 --> also buggy?
What is your suggestion on ROM/CWM to avoid this kind of problems?

Will this solve the problem permanently or do I have to repeat this everytime?
@OP: Have you solved the problem?
Thanks,
Guntram

I can't get it installed...tried the zip from the thread (with CWM-2.5) and

The latter yields:

Any ideas?

Did you try the PC49IMG.zip method? It's in the last page of that thread.
And, I'm not very acquainted with fastboot. Sorry...

I downloaded the zip and flashed it via Recovery - but this seems to fail (I don't get any error message, but it simply doesn't succeed).
I also tried unrevoked3.
Do I miss something? My "active time" with the Wildfire was some years ago...

The zip isn't flashed from recovery. The process is explained in the post which has the zip file attached. Please try following that instructions.

I always thought, the recovery-zip-installation would simulate the very same process. I tried this way, too.
However, this didn't work, either ;-(. I put it into SDCARD-root, chose Reboot into Bootloader -> there it seems to check the corresponding ZIP but no questioning to install it...
Maybe some problem of my HBOOT-version? I'm still on 0.8 (and couldn't find any update instructions, yet).
How did you install your recovery? The zip method was posted just at the end of the thread?

Yes, I use the pc49.zip method.
And, yes. Maybe your hboot version is causing this. But I'm not familiar with these issues.
Maybe @heavy_metal_man can help you. As I know he has lot of knowledge regarding these than myself.

does your phone power on at all? or just the red led flash. this is usually caused my the battery being fully depleted and the bootloader not having enough power to boot at all. if leaving it on charge for 24H+ does not fix the issue then either buy a new battery and/or a external wall charger like this one . you may need an adapter for the wall, depending where you live. This should not fail and in future be careful to never fully deplete your battery

since you rooted your phone using unrevoked your hboots security was never deactivated, just bypassed temporarily. this means that if you know what your doing with root, you can flash a custom recovery but i dont recommend this as its a but outdated. i recommend you upgrade your hboot stock rom and radio using a RUU. then run the program revolutionary to remove the security on your bootloader. then fastboot and pc49img.zip methods will be available to you, so you can flash a more updated recovery without issue Since you have fastboot commands set up on your pc please issue the command
Code:
Fastboot getvar cid
for me and post the cid here. i will then have a look for you and see if i can find a ruu for you to upgrade easily

Hello heavy_metal_man and thanks for chiming in!
I have my phone always on a charger, but sometimes it seems to be shut down and remain unresponsive until I remove the battery. So I do rule out a battery issue (though not any other hardware issues ).
This happens sometimes(!) when I'm on charging (via computer USB) and simply shut down the phone. It becomes unresponsive, the red LED still glows and I have to remove the batter.
Trying to get a RUU with the HBOOT 1.00 included resulted in the following (using OpenRUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711298 and a RUU downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680, namely the first FROYO ROM, second download link) :

ok, im on the lookout for a RUU for you. can you upload the rom.zip from that program somewhere for me to download. im interested in what it has outputted. also, what hboot and recovery version are you on?
UPDATE: ok we are out of luck for an official update from vodaphone that has hboot 1.01.0001 as they upgraded straight to hboot 1.01.0002. but this is not the end
we can use a Goldcard to bypass the htc's check of the phone cid, allowing us to flash other carriers updates. as such we can flash a WWE (world wide english, unbranded) rom with the hboot we need.
follow this part of my guide
Code:
step 6. now we need to make a gold card. if you already have one, you can skip this part. first using your working android phone, download and install Goldcard helper from the android market. Run the app and copy down your sd cards reverse cid.
step 7. now go to this website [URL="http://huygens.hoxnet.com/goldcard.html"]here[/URL] and enter in your reverse cid. it will then let you download a goldcard.img.
step 8. now go back to our c:\adb\ folder and run the goldcardtool.exe, this will flash the goldcard to your sd card. Warning! this will format your card!!
step 9. once that is done we are now ready for the final push
once you have made a working goldcard then run the RUU in this download package all going well your device will flash the update. if it gives you the error 42, or 131 then the goldcard has failed.
once you have that ran and successfully then reboot and quick setup your phone and then run this tool called revolutionary as this will make your bootloader s-off
finally install this recovery here to fix the charging issue. place it onto the sdcard and allow the bootloader to flash the recovery
then its just install any custom rom you want pal
more info on revolutionary instructions here

Are you sure it installed the rom? The rom.zip that you linked to me earlier, rename it to PC49IMG.zip and put it onto the root of your SD card. Them boot into the bootloader and let it pick it up. If it asks you to flash it say yes, if it does not then your goldcard has failed.

Bricked/Broken HTC Desire ? Please help !

Hi Guys,
I think I have done something I shouldn't have. I have messed up my phone.
I tried to root my HTC Desire, but it boots into a black screen with htc in the center and a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle. - I tried booting normally - (power on) and into boot mode (volume down and power on)
I am also not sure that the SD card is correctly turned into a Goldcard, and now I have no way to make a goldcard.
What have I tried ?
1. 'adb devices' does not see the phone.
2. 'fastboot devices' sees the phone and returns with the serial number.
3. Fastboot :
C:\android\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (1832 KB)... OKAY [ 0.276s]
writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.482s
C:\android\tools>fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (1602 KB)... OKAY [ 0.243s]
writing 'boot'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.424s
OK - so I really messed this up - lets try to recover:
4. Downloaded RUU
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
---- It sees the phone, and requests to update the ROM from image 1.21.405.2 to image 1.21.405.2 - click next and it tries to send the image to the phone up to a point - vibrates 7 times - loads up 39% and then hangs.
OK - so on the RUU screen it says in red that I should not remove the usb cable - the devices is not working so what can go wrong ? deep breath - "ba... of steel?" - yes - remove the usb cable
RUU returns with ERROR[155]: UNKNOWN ERROR - and a recover button
Click recover - yes my android screen shows exclamation marks in four corners - it means the update has failed - follow the steps and it returns with "Error recovery is successful. The update process is ready to resume."
So we try again - run the RUU tool - oh no - same result as above - yep my initial statement is still factual - I have messed up.
Can anyone help ?
HBOOT-0.80.0000 & Radio 4.06.00.02_2
When you get theblack screen with htc in the center and a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, you need to hold volume up and push power. This will take you into the recovery menu. My advice is put the fake flash update.zip on the root of your sd card and then flash it from this menu to get into proper recovery.
There you go

Thank you for the reply, but that does not seem to work.
Also if I follow the instrcutions on the web site you referred to I am stuck with step 1, create a gold card - with the phone in this state I am unable to create a gold card.
It stays on the same screen ? Am I just unlucky ?

Can you not find your htc generic or operators official rom and run the ruu and that should put it back to how it came?
Hi Guys,
Thank you for your assistance - it is helping !
I have the same problem as described by another thread ("Killed my Desire") in which a gentleman by the name Ronaldo mentioned that he eventually got it working by using tiny Linux, however "after many tries"
I did try to download an RUU tool, but it fails with an error. (ERROR 155)
I could not find the official operators RUU as it was an unlocked phone - bought online - so I am not sure from which operator is it coming.
One question - it was working on all operator networks - therefore I assume it was unlocked but not rooted ? does this mean I do not need a goldcard ?

[Q] HTC desire Z stuck in booting after downgrade attempt

Hello,
I have a phone that is now stuck at white screen with green htc logo after an attempt to downgrade following this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
However i had already downloaded a PC10IMG.zip with this tool :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521019
I first tried using the tool, but it always failed. It seemed to me the script failed on getting temproot. (I then manually downloaded the PC10IMG.zip in the .bat file just incase it was a problem with the wget it uses or something)
After that i followed the guide instead and gained temproot, changed version and gaining supercid through the goldcard method.
I then tried downgrading using the manual method using the PC10IMG.zip mentioned above (Its alot smaller than the ones mentioned in the guide. I have a suspicion it is for another phone perhaps). Bootloader recognized it and started "upgrade" process as expected. After it worked with that for a while it rebooted and since then I have been stuck on the white/green splash screen on normal boots.
I can still get into Hboot, but I cant do anything there. Nothing seems to work there. Neither volume +/-, trackpad nor powerbutton does anything.
I can also get into fastboot. This seems to work better, but when i try to flash the image then it just gives me :
D:\platform>fastboot-windows flash zip StockRom.zip
sending 'zip' (291447 KB)... FAILED (remote: 02 data length is too large)
HBOOT screen shows me the following:
VISION PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.82.0008
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.08.04.30_M3
I havent tried altering the contents of my SD card in fear of making things even worse.
Any tips/tricks/hint would be greatly appreciated!
Got some rather excellent help from #g2root to fix this today.
My main problem was that I had flashed the wrong img and that my Golden SD was not working correctly. Got that sorted out by using another SD and made it golden in another device.
Then proceeded to upgrade it to the newest g2 software (since that was what i had tried to do in the first place. Namely using the g2 img in a Desire Z device), downgrade it, rooted it and installed the necessary tools to get Andromadus running
Thanks to pierre_ja, skorgon, Uni_Ced and Catherall for the patience, moral support and excellent help! The amount of handholding from pierre_ja was astonishing
G2 img
Can i ask where you obtained the G2.img file, I am in a similar situation. Thanks
We used this one PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_2.15.531.3_Radio_12.52.60.25U_26.08.04.30_M3.zip

Not with an HTC Vision, you can't... You need an PC to do this.
That's too bad. The G2 used to easy. Thanks for the reply!

This is your problem, adb can't see your phone. Was it up and running when you tried this ? If so it's your adb setup. Have you used adb before on this phone ? See my signature for a link to a guide to setting up adb.

For the G2 there is a new program called mr. root, wich makes everything a bit easier, but you still need an computer to do it. So that's correct indeed.
From memory that 99 error means you used htcdev.
You can find more info on that here

The cmd's seem to be working from the cmd prompt. for example the phone did go into boot loader.
The phone is in a state where it will not boot up. Fails on the htc logo.
However boot loader is not functioning, every time it directs me to clock work orange mod screen. Which does not function either
Same problem!!
Hi, im really new here, and i googled the 'symptoms' of my broken HTC desire Z and this thread came up. My phone is showing exactly the same writting as what you described, but i really really dont know why. i dont know what all these technical terms mean/do but i REALLY miss my phone and want it to work again!! I would really really REALLY appreciate any help anyone could offer me, because the warranty is up so i cant send it back!
Thank you so much!
So to get this straight, you've tried to root your phone and it went wrong. If so, can you still get into your recovery?
-Turn off phone, hold down the power and volume up button. Then ou should get your bootloader. Once that's loaded slelect recovery with your volume buttons and confirm (press "enter") by pressing your powerbutton. Then your phone should restart in recovery. If you haven't changed your recovery image, you should be able to get the stock ROM running again.-

Problem with unloocking bootloader on Virgin Mobile (htc a510c)

I am having a problem, I go to the HTC Dev site, tells me I need to download a new rom, but when I download the Virgin Mobile rom, it restart the phone then it gives me an error that I have the wrong version.
I dont understand though, the phone says Virgin Mobile. Can anyone help me?
I found these steps. I have problems on number 7, which says *
"Scroll down, choose your phone version, download RUU"
When I download Virgin Mobile, it goes through its process, reboots the phone, you see the HTC logo, then the program errors out saying I have the wrong rom. How can I have the wrong rom? I have a Virgin Mobile Wildfire S, and that is what I downloaded. Any ideas?
STEP 1 - Update HBOOT to support generating device tokens
* Go to http://htcdev.com/
* Click "unlock bootloader" and then "get started"
* On the right, chose HTC Wildfire S from the dropdown
* Click begin unlock bootloader
* Login, or register first, then login
* Confirm the 2 nasty boxes and agree all stuff
* Scroll down, choose your phone version, download RUU
* Run RUU.exe and flash new HBOOT
* Click proceed
* Remove battery, re-insert, boot into bootloader (Power + Vol-)
* Click proceed
* get those 3 files: adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, fastboot.exe, read how to get them if you do not have them
* open a terminal as it is done on the site
* enter the command: fastboot oem get_identifier_token
* Copy the identifier token and
* paste it at the bottom of the page
* submit
I believe I figured it out, I found a thread somewhere else that had the answer. I'll try it tomorrow though, I am beat spent 2 hours on this. Here is the quote though for the fix
"4: You will find 2 zip folders named rom_01 and rom_02, copy these 2 zips to your desktop
5: Now change the name of rom_01 (im not 100% sure if its 01 or 02 that you need to do first, I cant remember) to PG76IMG and copy it over to a microSD, insert into your phone and boot into HBoot, it will go through the normal process of detecting and then opening the zip and will ask you if you wish to update the radio to v2 (it should only ask to update the radio, because you need to do it first before you use the second file which asks to update both the radio and hboot) allow to do so and it will do its thing and when completed ask to reboot."
I am not sure where to begin. I have been all over this forum and another trying to find the answer.

Now that you're unlocked, try using the same all in one tool to ROOT the phone. Then flash CWM, because you need root for CWM. I suggest using rezo609's All-In-One Utility if that's not what you are already using.
There's no need of 1.08.0099 or 1.09.0099 because the one you have is the latest UNLOCKABLE bootloader.
And since you have an A510c, why don't you go ahead and S-OFF it? It's really simple. You'll find a guide in the index in the general section.
Good luck!

That's quite strange.
Okay, considering you have adb installed, pit the adb files in a folder called android.
Put it in any drive you want. Put the cwm img in the same folder.
Name the image file as recovery.img
Suppose you have the folder on c drive, type this :
cd c:\android
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Do you have the root.zip?
Cwm recovery should boot. Then flash the root.zip.
Tell me if it doesn't work.

I did as you asked, after I got this message, I tried to boot into recovery to get into CWM, and I just get the HTC logo, its basically stuck until I remove the battery. Any other suggestions?
I managed to solve my problem thanks to SomeDudeOnTheNet. <--Awesome guy!
Now that I have S-Off and have CWM, I am trying to install a rom. I was recommended HenseMod. My issue at the momment is that it rebooted once on me clearing/wiping the phone, and rebooted again on me while trying to install a rom and another time it froze. Any ideas?
Working on one of these right now... currently have unlocked and S-Off, just flashed the recovery.img successfully, can get into the first screen of clockwork, but it freezes either as soon as I hit the button or on a white HTC screen.
once I got the zip install option to work, and installed the root.zip, but it just froze and rebooted shortly after.
I'm thinking that without su, the recovery can't push the root.zip or any other rom zips... so I'm still looking for a way to get root.
This is a tough nut!

[GUIDE]Unlocking, Rooting, Adding CWM, Customizing XPERIA S 6.1.A.2.45 Stock ROM

Note: All the methods used here not belongs to me,
ALL CREDITS GOES TO ITS MAKERS
Here I am giving you some external threads and some guide lines explaining how to unlock, root, adding Recovery, Flashing Custom ROMS and How to unroot, locking bootloaders to get official OTA updates..
Lets start with usual warning, I'm not responsible if your Xperia S gets bricked
[UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER]
There is a great thread explaining how to unlock and relock bootloader by DooMLoRD, its very useful and I tested it and worked perfectly. Here is the link,
UNLOCKING AND RELOCKING BOOTLOADER XPERIA S
If you found its useful don't forget to thank him.
[ROOTING XPERIA S WITH 6.1.A.2.45]
Here I will give you two methods,
FIRST METHOD
This is for unlocked bootloader only and only for Xperia S LT26i. I have tested and working perfectly in my SXS
Warning: This is Exclusively for Xperia S with 6.1.A.2.45. I am not sure about other Other ROMS
Before Rooting you must have downloaded this,
1.Root Kit.zip (Zip containing everything you wanted to root)
2.Flashable SuperSU App (Thanks to Chainfire )
Inside the folder you have one .txt file its the commands you have to use in cmd, Any how I am adding the same below,
1.You must have enabled USB debugging in developer option under settings
2.Copy the "CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip" into your SD card
3.Switch off and connect your phone in fast boot mode (pressing Power button + Vol up)
If asked for drivers, update driver manually by directing to "USB driver folder" inside the "Root Kit folder".
Verify whether there is a BLUE LED is coming up.
Now you are in fastboot mode, type the commands line by line,
fastboot devices
Click to collapse
you will get something like this,
PSDN: DW925S3BFT&POI fastboot
Click to collapse
Now type this,
fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img
Click to collapse
you will be seeing this,
sending 'boot' (5414 KB)...
(bootloader) USB download speed was 9847kB/s

so the recovery image is flashed into the phone, now reboot device using below command,
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
Now the phone will boot into recovery mode and select the option “Install zip from SDCard”. Browse to the folder where you had copied the SU zip file (CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip), select it and install it.
Now select the “Reboot System” option and while it is booting press the VOL UP button to boot back into the fastboot mode. Now run
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
Click to collapse
You should see something like this

If its showing with "Okay and Finished", then you are done, Congrats now you have a rooted phone (check for SuperSU app inside the phone drawer)Note:
1.If you can't enter into fastmode after image flashing (sometimes you need to have a better timing to enter into flashmode during reboot by pressing vol up and power button), then do this,
Press power and volume up button till u get a vibration followed by three vibrations (now your phone is switched off, so you can enter into fastboot normally) IMPORTANT: Dont remove the usb cable ever till rooting finishes
2.If any step fails after flashing recovery image you can't able to enter into your phone, don't be panic we have solution for everything.
Flashing stock rom with flashtool will solve this issue.
SECOND METHOD
Follow thread here,
Root with Recovery by Bin4ry
Note:
It's the easiest method, but every time i tried, i am doing it wrongly, but you can use this as well for rooting.Don't forget to thank Bin4ry

[Q] Problem with upgrade to JB 4.2 (Cyanogen 10.1)

Hi guys,
i never posted but i use this forum as my main reference when comes to roms, flashing etc.
So i will use this post also to say a big THANKS
Here is the problem:
i was trying to upgrade my Cyanogen from the 10 to the v 10.1 (JB 4.2.x) but the classic way flash boot.img and then the rom didn't worked; i get everytime a error getprop("ro.bootloader") == ............... when i try to write the rom, i think that is a problem of the bootloader version (0.95).
Then i tried to flash the version 1.39 with the CID VODAP102 but also here i get this error:
Code:
< waiting for device >
sending 'zip' (12876 KB)... OKAY [ 1.578s]

sending 'zip' (12876 KB)... FAILED (remote: (00030003))
finished. total time: 0.001s
Then if i try again it remain blocked in " sending 'zip' (12876 KB)... "
I tried with locked and unlocked but same issue.
I saw somewhere that i cannot go directly from my version that i stoo old to this one so i was looking for a older version but unfortunately htcruu closed and im stucked.
Now Im running my nandroid backup so i can use the phone but i can try everything.
I think that the crucial point is to update the bootloader to version 1.3x, then the rom flashing will be easy.
Thanks in advance!

Thats what i did so far:
1. Flashed the old backup and updated it, hboot still the same
2. Flashed the RUU, hboot still the same
3. Tried to flash again and again the new hboot 1.39 that i found in a list thread in the rom section, success
4. Tried to flash back my Cyanogen 10 backup, done but does not boot
5. Wiping the phone with CWM but this time it wiped also my "sdcard" and i was with low battery and no rom
6. Found a trick to how charge the phone and then i flashed TWRP to gain access to the usb mount and i loaded Cyanogen 10.1 + gapps
7. Flashed with TWRP the rom and gapps and then flashed back CWM
A bit long but i did it! : P now that i have the newer boot loader i cannot use anymore the cyanogen 10, it remain blocked in the cyanogen logo.
Thanks for the support!
How to I update my hboot from 0.94 to 1.36?
I've tried but it wont update - my CID is HTC_44 (or 044) - i've checked and it has OTA update but I'm not sure how to do all the hboot updating thing.
