I've had success rooting my Rogers SGH-I467M with the NH-5120 CF-Auto-Root tool.
You can grab it here.. use at your own risk!

Hi MrDindon,
I'm sorry to ear that, it must have something different between (i467) from AT&T and (i467m) from Bell/Telus/Rogers
Hope someone will find what is the difference between them.

I hadn't installed a recovery, I was happy for my needs with just having root... however... I was happy to try so here's what I did:
So I downloaded the http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2047636&d=1371403066 link for CivZ-5120-RecoveryCWM6.03.2-ODIN-Package.tar (from the link you provided).
I booted back into Odin mode, hooked it up to PC, and flashed the TAR file as a PDA file.
I now have CWM Recovery 6.0.3.2 on my Note 8... booted into recovery just fine!
I don't think there's any released Cyanogenmod images for SGH-I467M for me to try out... and I'm not sure if I trust the NH5120 firmwares at that level.. there should be a different radio in the NH5120 models and I'm expecting troubles there unless somebody creates a rom specific for this version of the tablet.

Hi Levistras,
Thank you very much!:victory: I'm glad that I'll be able to root my (i467m) Galaxy note 8 LTE!
A question for XDA members:
Here is a noob question... but usefull for me and may be too for others:
I currently having a new message to update my (i467m). If I upgrade it, am I gonna be able to root it anyway and also installing the recovery?
Thanks guys for your help! :good:
JmCourir

right now I'm getting impatient with the lack of support on this thing for custom firmware... I'm curious what will happen if I take the 4.2.2 ROM that went to the UK GT-N5120's, and try to flash it onto my SGH-I467M. I assume the radio/bands will be different, so I'm either going to not be able to boot, or I just won't be able to use the radio.... If WiFi still works I might be OK though...
Downloading it now, I'll let you guys know if I have any success.

You wont be able to flash usig odin, you will have flash using recovery or dd command.
DO NOT FLASH BOOT AND RECOVERY
MAKE BACKUP OF ALL 21 BLOCKS USINF DD COMMAND
if you have custom recovery and good boot partition and backup of all blocks/partitions , we can recover your device.

I ended up busy yesterday and wasn't able to tinker with it. Will try more tonight.. but curious if you get this rebuild working!

Hey Galaxy note 8 (i467m) users,
Any updates on getting new Roms from 5120 thread?
Now we know that we can root and install a recovery.
I'm very glad of that because I won't return my tablet for a 5110. Of course it would be very nice to be able to install Roms from 5120.

Wind Mobile & Videotron LG-D801 - aboot.img, boot.img, recovery.img, and SYSTEM DUMP!
Hey devs
I have pulled out the aboot.img and recovery.img files for the Wind Mobile and Videotron D801V11B version that does not have a working root (Chinese version is the only root available) or recovery out yet.
Devs can hopefully be able to use this to create a root and recovery for the non T-Mobile D801.
Here are the links for the files.
Thanks

Thanks for taking some initiative with your know how to get some development on Wind phones rolling.
I hope some developers will see this!
My guess is that since the Tmo version is the 801 and so is the wind there is a pretty good chance that you will be able to get root fairly easy. Maybe post over in the ioroot thread and link to the thread here so they can see these files.

Superb! Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Chinese root method?
Now that there is a working recovery, would it be safe to flash T-mob roms and see what works and what doesn't?

Yeah I believe it would be safe to flash those ROMs. Since it is the Canadian recovery that works, I am inclined to think that the D803 Roms might be more compatible than the T-mob D801 Roms. Just make sure you create a nandroid before you install any other Rom.

I'd make sure to remove the boot.img from any ROM zip you try to flash just to decrease the chances of boot-looping your device.

Yes, that's the ATT version. Currently we don't have a way to extract full image from the phone and one hasn't been released to my knowledge.

As far as getting the image: Verizon has a phone "repair" tool which downloads the factory image and flashes it to your phone. Is there anything similar for AT&T?

Thanks. I've downloaded it.
I extracted the boot.img from the AP file and pulled the kernel config from the zImage. Interesting to see what's going to be in the stock kernel, which is 4.14.85.

Thank You SO MUCH for your great effort!! On my S10+ works like charme
I have a question for you: do you know why, after the flash, my CSC code didn't change and got my country region?
It's very strange because itis a multi-csc firmware I saw.
P.S. If you get also g973F and g970F firmware please share it with us!

Okay so I flashed all 4 files you gave this time. I did NOT select repartition. Odin said passed but now it’s stuck in what seems like a charging state, there’s a black screen with charge indicator. But nothing is happening
Any link to ASBA for 975F?

I solved the problem Colmdave. I've flashed all the partitions with SIM card inside. After flash the phone checked for the correct country and got its CSC!
This worked for g-975 and g-973 also!

Ok so the battery was just dead....After about 15 mins of being plugged into the laptop it went to 1%, then it began to reinstall firmware by itself and now seems to be working fine. Is there anyway to test it to know it is fully ok. By like restarting it a few times or something?

As soon as TWRP for 83x, and modifyed kernel already prerooted, looks like yes. You can. But for android 9 only (pie).
There is unofficial twtp for Oreo (android 8), so this is another story.
Just ask in twrp thread if you want.
doesnt work for tmo version

Any luck
i didnt try anything to be honest i dont need it so bad the root. only if it was something simple i would try. i read that t mobile locked it etc.
Unlock process if you have a code DOESN'T work. I got a code from T-Mobile it did not work ended up locking up the device had to send out another device now waiting for new code today I'm sure it's something in the software that T-Mobile did to block access to bootloader

Verizon model is definitely bootloader locked. Im not sure about the others. But the only models ive seen with unlockable bootloaders are the T830 and T835
T-Mobiles is definitely locked they were willing to reach out to Samsung and they did on my behalf to do it and was they never responded

And that's after a sim unlock also
any luck anybody?

You already got an answer. If you want to root buy a T830 or T835 those allow bootloader unlocks.

It was, but this update just came out...
so, is it possible to do the update directly from the base firmware version came out of the box or do we need to be on a specific version??
btw, if another update comes out? how do we keep the root and update? do we need another rooted boot file or is there any other method?

Yes, you can go straight to this version without the need to flash previous versions. Have you checked that your device is WW, fingerprint and all? If not, install device info hw from the playstore and under system it will show rom, product id and fingerprint, if they're all WW then you are good to go...
Yes, regarding root, if or when another update comes out, you need to wait until the rooted boot is released too, Flash it as per op

I managed to update from 1908.12 to 1908.21 and maintain root by following the guide mentioned in https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/update-root-t3977143 so I don't think it's required to flash the boot image each time.

only reason i recommended to flash boot is because i tried to update root using this method on one version and it left my device unbootable, on another it just would update, kept saying download failed or something, so i avoid saying about it.
incidentally, from .12 to .21 did you use the ota method, or direct install (recommended)? i couldn't get it to go...

I used the OTA method and it luckily worked!
Btw the links in the OP are not working for me. It's giving an error that file is currently not available.

Thanks[emoji12][emoji106].
For those who are already rooted it is not necessary to put the root image by adb, simply from magisk before restarting the device you go back, you get into magisk and give it to install, you choose the option of ota and voila.
