Need Moderators in Vibrant section..

I have noticed that there is a large amount of double posting & people simply not following the rules in this section. There is like one moderator for that section & he is a developer, and of course spending his time on that, all of the rest are retired.. We need more mods there (At least two of them)
So please add a some mods there, I would even be more then happy helping out. It is just needed..

completely agree. having to fish through 20 pages of arguing and name calling is becoming slightly obtrusive. I would also be willing to help out

Pulser has brought the issue to our attention, and I can assure that within a week or so there will be significant improvement.
@All: As the clown said, please use the Report Post option for threads that need to be dealt with. All Senior and Forum mods are notified when reports come in, so someone will act swiftly.

Just so everybody knows...I started moderating this forum a week ago...and I am doing my best to keep up with things...and I would say I am doing a pretty good job so far.
I agree with the OP things are bad right now but we are working to change that.
If you want to help send me a PM with anything you see that I can help with.

Yeah I'm just saying there are a ton of people in that one section.. And your basically the only one because the other is a dev.. I just don't think 1 mod can handle all that, because like you said.. It is pretty bad

I tried to PM mikechannon about the issue that is still occurring on the Vibrant forums.
Instead of it getting better, it seems to be getting worse..
"There is constant flaming/off topic going on there. I have posted about this issue before, and the MOD's just said to report those post.
Even though I have been reporting those post that contain cursing/advertising/off topic/spam/etc they some how don't seem to get moderated.
In some threads there have been several "Clean Up's" yet there still seems to be flaming & off topic.. Once again :/

The latest Android sections are a mess, plain and simple. The sheer number of users with Galaxy devices in general is a lot. We have many mods scattered throughout the site who are not online 24/7, so if we don't catch something, simply report it and be patient. We cannot stop the flaming from happening, but we do our best.
We see all Reported Posts, no exceptions but we evaluate the severity and act based on it.

Can you point me to it? I don't see anything reported by you in the Reported Posts. As for the applications, they are closed at the moment and we do have mod(s) in that forum: 1 full time (krook as you mentioned earlier), as well as me, and a couple of others who swing by every so often.

We really need an iPad section. There is a lot of potential, and people out there interested in Android and Linux and even ChromeOS development for iPad. This could really take off...

I meant here, I would really help XDA. It could really take off. The market is there, just Google openiboot, it's by hexxeh. It runs on iPad but people need to start developing on it. And plus, there's no big "iPad Development" section. There's an iPad subforum of Hardware, but most of the threads are closed, not much activity on that forum.

The reason for not having apple hardware on xda was partly due to trolling etc.
I think the best place would be iPD, given you can load your account in there too.
The issue is very few people get into hacking the iDevices, giving an appearance of not much going on...
If you think there is a lot of demand, pm NotATreoFan and see what he says, as he could add a section if demand exists

The decision to move all iOS-related hardware/software to iPhone Developers was made by the owners of XDA. If the demand is there, I can create a new forum over at iPD for this cause, and you can create a closed thread here linking directly to it.
As for the username suggestion by Pulser, he is referring to the fact that all XDA usernames are reserved over at iPD, so you can transfer your account and keep the same ID/pass.

You have to "register." When you click the register link, there will be an option to transfer your XDA account. Enter your user/pass in those fields, and everything will be moved over.

Does the symbolism of the word "development" in the forum really make a difference? Surely it is the content quality that matters more than the heading?
The iPad section looks fine to me. Make a thread, post what you have, get others involved.
When there is too much activity, and a separate section is needed, per

IMHO, does make a difference. Keeps it organized for one...for two, easier to find stuff.

I have to agree with Pulser here. If there is not a lot of activity in a "General" forum, why make a whole new development section for one or two threads. At this time, I'd say asking for a Development specific section is a little "demanding."
All in all, it seems you are more focused on the "titles" and "status" instead of the actual developing. I hope that is not the case, because that is outside XDA/iPD's "spirit" or "soul."
Start posting development stuff in General and if/when it gets popular and messy, we can make a new development section and move things around.

Okie Dokie.

A possible simple solution for Dev thread "Spam"

There is nothing more annoying then what goes on in some of the development threads on XDA.
I'm talking about the threads specific to development of a Rom/os whatever... and you end up getting the
"WOOHOO THATS LIKE AWESOME MAN"
"WHen Can I have Wifi"
"Why isnt wifi working"
"ETA?"
etc.. etc..
And then you get the complete idiots that respond with
"This is a development thread shutup"
"Dude this is development thread, you are only supposed to talk about development stuff"
etc...
Why not just make all development threads fully moderated? As in, the post doesn't appear unless approved by the OP/Mod's...
If you wanted to customise it further, you could allow "teams" to be able to post in the thread and moderate.

Some devs like having a lot of posts in their threads. Maybe they think the extra page views help them get more people interested and they might be right. Some amount of small talk is always going to be posted since people make friends over time. It is really up to the OP of that thread, if they complain, then the mods will act.

It would be the most time consuming and soul destroying job ever to burden a man/womans shoulders..
In an ideal world its the perfect solution and you're right. I just don't think it's feasible.

Lol..I was just about to say that..If something like the above thingy needed to get approved,xda would have to hire nearly 500 mods(just a rough calc.) and assign a minimum of 10 mods to every forum

Not for all threads, but if you have a read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009&page=40 as an example you have maybe 5% dev related threads and the rest are morons bickering.

Wasnt thinking in terms of Official Board mods, more the OP and those who he/she wish to grant permissions to approve the posts in their thread.

I'd think a more practical solution would be to give those who post threads in a Development forum control over their thread, I.e. the ability to delete anyone else's post. This way, they could choose themselves what is posted and decide the amount of development related stuff there is.

Also a good idea. I think as long as the OP can assign control to others its practical.
In the case of Dev threads, I'd rather a non devvy friend keep it clean then the dev who should be developing

I agree. I'm extremely new here and to Android development as well, but I've scoured, searched and read for answers to my questions (i.e. GPS issues, etc.)
I have forum experience and the overall issue with people not searching or at least reading the thread is pretty common, but here it seems to hinder development progress in ROMs and the like.
Even more so, some people sound like they're flat-out complaining and completely ungrateful for the work that's being done, which I don't believe should be tolerated.

Which makes you wonder how many possible dev's decide not to do anything because of a seeming lack of support from the community as a whole.
Most would have a day job, and a life. People expect these poor buggers do work on a rom 24/7 just so they can get their damn camera working on an SDK version of an os... its craziness.

Better user education can help to a degree.

Again, granting permissions would need to be done by an admin and powers to delete will never be granted to anyone.
It's really up to the op how much off topic they will tolerate and if they want a thread cleaned all they have to do is ask.

[Q] SGSIII Camera Apk. & Mods, Which Are the Best Combinations?

With the Sprint variant of this phone, does any one have any ideas of a Apk and Mod combo that utilizes the camera to it's fullest potential? Anyone with kids will especially like this, there is nothing that rocks as much as catching those priceless moments on film. I'm on the stock kernel, JB (The Domination rules)ICS, and LIH (base and). My goal is quality, resolution, and bit rare. An advanced zoom would be kool also.
Any suggestions are welcomed......

My questions does apply to the Forum Title. My questions relate directly to the Sprint variant of the SGSIII, and the camera. Specifically the development side to improve it. Development of the Apk. Is how program improvements are implemented and bugs are fixed.
A combination of the application combined with the mods are important from a systems standpoint. So my question is more than skin deep p. I apologize if this is in the wrong location, but Its not a joke. Mods please move, if needed.

First let me apolgize for my comment if it any way hurt you feelers bro , In Before The Lock is something we all do on the forum for fun and you took it way to personal I didnt mean anything by , others that know me know that is not my thing or what I do to people especially if I had gone into your thread in the proper section. So please take it for what it is worth , as your thread as/or wouldve been moved and your questions will be answered by someone especially since they are here in the q/a section looking to help or find help like yourself.

First let me apolgize for my comment if it any way hurt you feelers bro , In Before The Lock is something we all do on the forum for fun and you took it way to personal I didnt mean anything by , others that know me know that is not my thing or what I do to people especially if I had gone into your thread in the proper section. well now its in Q&A so can we maybe get some answers (assuming their are any of course
LOVE the speed of the new camera and they have DRAMATICALLY improved low light performance AND ALSO dramatically improves LLP of the front facing camera.
anyway here is something I WANT SO BADLY.
Focus Lock. or Infinity lock. it still has "hunting" issues in low contrast low light situations (such as fireworks) really annoying. it boggles the mind there is no infinity lock or even a simple focus lock on such a powerful device.

Does any dev plan to make a rom for our device anytime soon? It seems there are official updates only for Gnex and few other devices at present time. I am guessing maybe a week before SamMobile releases something. Thoughts? Ideas? Answers?

I do not see the answer there...Only how to TAG things with {MOD} or so on. And devs are reading THIS forum more! So I do not agree. And I am now an OP so leave my thread ALONE!

Lol, I like the idea of the thread, it's pretty neat, and friendly competition is great. The poll is a great idea but all your devs in it aren't even working on making any AOSP roms, except Jamison with AOKP but he is still dabbling with source and such. The link I gave you are the rules of what you can post in this sub-forum, none of the bunch include asking a question at all. Calm down a little and learn the rules my friend. Oh and I'm already running a 4.2.2 rom

I reported it before I posted in it to help the guy out. Mods are busy with the announcement of 4.2.2. I'm sure there are about a 100 posts being made a minute in the wrong sections all over the world.

I do not see you answering this question. And if they wanna move it to QA...they will. I dont care at this point. I just want an idea of when we get in on this since it seems lately its only days after an announcement that someone has access to a build or source. So again, instead of whining at me....answer me! And if a Moderator is reading...go ahead...move this to Q/A...makes me no difference at all. I think this is relevant to development/developers. So if any Moderator disagrees...please move the thread. Again I do not care nor do I have that ability. I am just OP but do not have such functions on my interface.

Nothing wrong with enforcement. I just thought it might get MORE views in DEV area is why I posted it. If the rule is strict (ends in ? ) then I will not post again. So apologies if they are warranted

Why are you so angry haha? I gave you some insight and if you search a little OP you will get an idea of who might be dropping a 4.2.2 rom. I will not give you any other insight or links to such threads that might be only a couple away from your thread. Because you are simply not polite but demanding, and your tone is unheard of in these threads. I say good day.

It is question as to if they have access to builds...and where those might be. I am not asking for timeline for anybody to MAKE a rom at all. I basically wish to know idea of when there will be something out there for us to use on S3 devices in USA. Pretty much an information thing not ETA thing. Understand??
