Ok, so, Thanks to aread22 We have a 90% working cam, since we still dont have 720p and some effects ares still broke, but share and set as both work which was the original goal of this, and while we dont have 720p recording yet, im sure we will get there (eventually )

hell, go read cmylxgos thread, hes using my fixed apk..
and one of the people collaborating with us on this is cmylxgo along with g.lewarne,dandiest and a few others should be contributing too..
ok, anyways.. i have been pouring over smali files for days, trying different files in lib,bin and from looking at the log, my current guess is that the issue lies with the recording of audio when you hit record, which it runs into an error when it tries and crashes the apk.. i dont know if thats correct and im not sure what needs to be done to fix it, but thats why we have a dev thread for eh?
How about 720 recording ...is it just not possible cause I figured someone would have figured this out by now

well, that isnt something i believe that can be done at the moment, but i do believe it is possible and from what i have read its mostly a kernel issue, seeing as how wp7 can do it on our hardware and thats all software..
but before we even approach that here, i would like to get just basic recording working with the newer camcorder function..

Which apk is the one with all the boxy border .....I hate that one, the one that comes with cmyxlo builds is the one I would love to have in my cm7 rom I'm currently on. And will it install

the boxy border? i have not seen that.. and the one in cmylxgo's rom is of course, the older one with the working camcorder function..

Its got a grey border around the screen. Some devs skin it some don't

What about A/V sync in Sense builds? I've been flashing and flashing, and have yet to find a truly working camcorder in this regard? Is this likely to be fixed?

well, who knows? maybe the different version of the camcorder could fix it? who knows until we get it working...
i think people are more likely to be using the camera so if we get a camera,it will be a big breakthrough and then the camcorder will probably come after you figured out the camera,keep up the hard work

well, who knows, what i would like to see is people posting logs from alogcat at the time the try to run the camera (if it fc's as soon as you open it) or when they hit record (if it fc's there)
i dont know what the issue is with the gb camera (does it fc on open?)
but i wouldn't mind if this say, became the thread where we work out camera issues on all builds
and if enough people posted log snippets, just maybe we can find a commonality and that would head us in the right direction..
as it stands im figuring that the issue lies in the kernel or the libs, with the kernel looking more likely, im figuring it needs updated code to be compatible with the newer cameras and more then likely if we can get the newer camera working here, then the gb camera would also..

here i have attached the logcat. this is my first time. so im not sure if ok. i have started the logcat and then i click the camera then it did soft reset and reboot i close the logcat.

what camera apk is this and what rom?
and do this when you post these, look at the time on your watch or computer when you hit record and mention that. as long as its set the same as your device (your pc should have its clocked auto synced just like your phone so its times should match). this way there wont be a need to do a bunch of fishing for the error in the log.. oh, and set your log type to long under alogcat preferences..
edit: ok i see this is the gingerbread rom..
and wow lots of permission errors and a java failed binder transaction then all your services die..
and another odd, it seems to be connecting to htc database servers to check for updates..

Ever since i've updated my Instagram, it won't let me upload any pictures at all and either gets my phone stuck or crashes every time. Want to know if any other P930 CM9 users are facing this issue or if there is any other fix around it?
Same here. Using the app for just browsing other photos seems to work but whenever I try to upload; it begins to stall and eventually crash. I tried cheating it by not using the filters and immediately uploading it but then it either crashes or takes forever to process and the photo ends up black or this strange black/matrix-y look.
I love the this RC, it's blazing fast compared to my stock gingerbread. With little to no problems since I've been testing it. Anyone know a work-around? Keep it up and thanks for the hard work.
p.s I'm using the P930 At&t Nitro HD.
That's exactly the same issue I have. From what I've read it might be an OpenGL issue... but I'm not going to pretend like I know what that means. Besides that, this RC is running so smoothly. Its awesome. Guess we'll just have to wait.

Neither the ICS leak nor CM9 will run the editing pane of Instagram. I've e-mailed the App developers, they said they will not touch an unofficial build. I've been through multiple updates for Instagram, none worked any better.
For what it's worth, it works in CM10 build 07/26 for me. Maybe you guys would like to update

I actually might try that, do you have any major problems using CM10? My only problems with CM9 is instagram and random speaker volume changes. (which can be deal breakers)
Well there are still some bugs in CM10 and a bunch of features haven't been forward-ported yet, but it's definitely coming along nicely. One bigger bug it has right now is video seems to intakill the OS and reboot after a few seconds.
Well, that was fast lol. Ricardo just put an update out that should fix video crashing. Man, that guy is awesome.
instagram doesn't work anymore with the latest nightly released 24-08-12.

Camera and camcorder WORKS
This is my 'configuration':
HTC Desire (Bravo) PVT-4 SLCD
HBOOT: Stock Alpharev Hboot
Recovery: 4Ext Recovery.
SD: Transcend 8 GB Class 6 ( I took 512 MB EXT3 Partition)
After I flashed rom, I picked Touchwiz launcher and set all necessary things about google account.
I tried apps, (first camera and camcorder) and they work very well. This rom is still under development, but i'm impressed that we're having everything functional.

EDIT: I used Mount2SD script with Aroma Installer, I have choosen Apps and Dalvik to Ext, untick Safe Mode.
Sandvold's ICS looks like feature complete and working too...
... though I still don't have enough courage to install any ICS ROM on my main and only Desire, sticking with gb custom rom

Yes it does, but built in camcorder and videoplayback not working (truth is that they work with 3rd apps).
In this AOKP rom built-in ICS camcorder works. Maybe video playback is a little bit laggy, but works better than Sandvold's.
I'm greateful to Sandvold, his rom is amazing, but these "little" features were important to me for choosing ICS rom.

I mean that everything what coming with this rom is working. I tried every single app. Flashed Mount2SD, flashed Gapps, flashed G Now and everything working. And videoplayback is correct.
Why are you angry? I haven't lied in any aspect. When I said everything, I thought everything what is important for normal using of phone even for advanced user.

You don't need to jump from 10th floor to know that you're gonna die.
My suggestion to you, search Desire thread a little bit (especially Q&A section) and see how many problems ICS/JB caused lately then start praising around. People here are, hopely, mature and don't need anybody to praise them and make them gods, especially recognised developers.

It's not about any recognised developer, this is not any praising. It's objective feedback of using someone's rom, This feedback could help someone. And please, who are you to lecture me?? This is about rom, not about me or you. Neither you tried it and you're telling me about it.

Do not know but Sandvold declares what's working, i.e.:
- Full hwa
- Camera+preview+panorama + video working
- HW accelration
- Video streaming and playback
... you tried it and found any bug? Report it, please... as I would like to know it (and reconsider my decision about using that package in the future).

It can be fixed by using some 3rd part programs. For example: for video recording you can use program Video Illusion from Store and for video playback you can use MX Player also from Store. In AOKP this working properly.
Developers are planning to solve problem with camcorder and playback with porting Kernel 3.0, but it seems that this is (more than partially)solved by AOKP ported rom which I mentioned in first post.
MIUIv4 with miui gb camera (THIS ONE ONLY!) can record videos without funny weird output and also have HWA.

Thanks for the sugestion, I'm using Sandvoid 0.18.1. I'll try out those apps to fix the video problems. The rest of this Rom is perfect for me
Hey guys, ive been using cm9 since Alpha 8 has come out, after reading the cm9 and cm10 official topics and im just confused.
Currently I know Modpunk has stopped working on CM9, and the camera is abit laggy and the video doesnt work etc
So what exactly works and doesnt work on cm10? As far as I know everything works except video because of the omx drivers, so tethering etc works, am I right? Please correct me.
CM10 alpha 1 came out last night, so is modpunk stopping work on CM10 or carrying on?
and, what would you recommend, staying on cm9 or going to cm10? Which one works better/is more stable
Also if I went about upgrading to cm10 would I just flash over my cm9 Installation, Thanks.

Are you sure modpunk has stopped? Alpha 1 was realeased yesterday, but I think that is his last work for wildfire s.
And does that mean GPS isnt working, ive seen that camera is fully working on cm10 now, if thats so then im going to upgrade if GPS is working also.:fingers-crossed:
I read that he bought a new phone. But, I'm not 100% sure, I didn't see any post from modpunk about that.
GPS is working on CM9 if you're lucky. I've tried Google Maps several times, but it takes so much time to get GPS signal. I'm not sure if it's same on CM10 too. I'll install CM10 tomorrow to check it.
Camera working partially on CM9/CM10. You can take photos perfectly but you can't record videos.
Okay so I installed CM10 Alpha 1 yesterday, As far as it goes these were all the bugs I faced with it:
1. Camera sucks balls. So does video.
2. statusbar a little laggy (Won't notice much)
3. When phone is in low brightness mode, the power button won't turn on the screen... (Workaround: enable wake from volume button and press them)
4. GPS doesn't work well.
5. Music playback was a little laggy, no matter what music player I used. IDK if it's ROM's fault or not.
6. Sometimes random things crash. (You wont even notice)
7. Calculator crashes.
8. OFC video playback oughta suck.
On CM9:
1. Camera works fine but a little laggy.
2. Video playback is ****ty.
3. GPS (I use AGPS patch so don't notice it often)
I guess that's it. I'm gonna stay with cm10 for a little longer and see whats in future.
Also if you wanna stay or move on depends on your own preferences, how much are you affected by these bugs?

Hmm, from what youve said im going to stick to CM9, would you be able to help me with that GPS patch? Its really bugging me and I need my GPS.

I just installed CM10 on my Wildfire S (marvel) last night, and I'm quite pleased how it works.
I didn't try GPS and Bluetooth, so I don't know if they are working correctly, other things (except camera, of course) are quite good.
I wanted to ask about camera issue. Can someone point me where I could get more info about it? I don't quite understand why it isn't working properly. I thought maybe to take a look at it, if I manage to find the some spare time.

Go and head over to the development forums in the wildfire s forums, the camera takes pictures fine but the preview has some artifacts, Qualcomm won't release the OMX drivers for video recording, so video recording MAY never work, but there is a person working on it.

Ok, i already anticipate replies based on "use the damn search", ...please do us all a favor and don't clutter the thread with that kind of posts, try to max your posts number somewhere else :silly:
Anyhow, atm i have tried to install few JB roms on my HTC Desire GSM, the latest i have installed is JellyNow(btw: battery friendly), but still the same problems remain, the damn camera works but not so stable, often results in soft restart and when watching video as well(sometimes)
Is there a stable JB rom with camera and video working?
Please reply with posts where you can speak from your own experience, everything else is without arguments.

Simple answer is NO.
There are Nikez and VJ's CM10.1, but the camera and video are choppy and tearing.

yup, i have stumbled upon this one a week or two ago, but i have read somewhere that its development has come to STOP, apparently lack of developers in their team....i am not sure if this is correct information.
Although i might give it a go, to see how it goes...all i need is daily driver, i am not that active user, because JellyNow can hold 2days, but it isn't usable any more, sometimes i cant answer a phone-call, because when ringing screen doesn't respond as it should, just showing incoming call, then it needs up to 5sec to start reacting....wierd.
Anyhow i am still in a hunt for a fine balanced rom....the problem is i am now addicted to JB stuff, beacuse it almost has it all i need within OS, so need for installing additional apps is minimum.

I'm using jelly time and the camera and video work perfectly fine...I've been using this ROM for a good 3 months now...I will just add though that for some reason I can't find the camera now to use it lol but I think I disabled it cuz I never use it and would always accidentally open it....
