[Q] Battery Level remains at 100% - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Got my new N7 today. After I charged the battery to 100%, it remains at 100%. I have it on for 3 hours now and it still says 100%. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks.

So they weren't kidding about good battery life
Try restarting?

Deep sleep is beautiful on the Nexus 7.

Haven't charged mine yet but mines drained to under 25% in past day

So why complaining...? Don't we all wish the battery to remain 100%......?

I'm wondering if they're thinking that it's not accurately reflecting what the battery level actually is.

thanks for pointing that out. I really didn't know it.
the thing is, prolly the device is doing some good deep sleep, with no radio to disturb the battery.
cell radio often takes about 25-30 % of battery. with no radio, no battety drain.

My tablet has been at 25-30 for about 8 hours now with light use. Network activity is minimal during this time.

No worries ...the battery life is jus amazing on this device is all....I was shocked after first cycle...compared to my other nexus devices and even my 10' this is great...

T-Mo Note II Battery Life Thread: Post Screenies!

Figured I start a thread specifically for the T-Mobile variant. I will say that I'm pretty pleased with the battery life thus far. I hated having to give up the ease of some functionality just so my Samsung OG Epic 4G could make it through the day. Meaning, turning off bluetooth, live wallpaper, wifi, etc.
I feel like I haven't had to do that even though there is a battery saver mode already. I'm currently sitting at 54% and it's been a day since taking it off the charger.
I currently have all the bells and whistles going. Live wallpaper and facial recognition to unlock. S-Pen detection and the whole 9. Anyhow, just wanted to see what everyone else is getting.
I'd be happy with 6 hours screen on time
i had the galaxy s3 before the note 2 and i have noticed huge battery improvements
I was briefly reading through the manual and saw this:
Do not wait until your battery is completely depleted before
charging your device. Repeating this process of a complete
discharge and recharge can over time reduce the storage
capacity of any battery.
Pg 15
just thought I'd pass it along. I usually run my battery all the way down and let it die before recharging:

I'm not getting great battery life yet and have had the phone for over 24 hours since I picked it up yesterday morning. Can't pinpoint wjat could be draining it.
What do you guys think?

Unbelievable. Its DOUBLE what I get on my note 1. This is the first time i can remember in years not changing a battery during a day.
I have had WiFi on most of the time.
I never thought I would see 14 hours.

The battery life on this is simply amazing. I am still shocked to see how good it is. I tried everything today to run it down. Barely even used WIFI today. Basically all 4G. Screen brightness was about 50% at least all day. Never below as well. Crazy awesome battery
My battery life is insane. Ive used my phone nonstop all day and its still going. I should easily get between 8-9 hours of onscreen time.

Fantastic battery life on 4.2

Battery life is very good compared to the previous releases. I ran for forty minutes with Bluetooth turned on while listening to tune in radio and using endomondo app. Google now turned on. I lost fifteen percent compared to losing 35% with similar usage. Very satisfied.
What do you think?

Why would you make a thread linking to a post you made in another thread?
Bit unnecessary. To answer the question it's too early for me to thoroughly test battery life.

Ditto. My phone ran like a champ on a freshly flashed ROM. Then my phone realized it was born as a Verizon-Nexus mutt and had a psychological breakdown to the point of 1.75 hours of on-screen time the day after.
Twas a sad day
I'm reading my work email over the exchange service account. After upgrde to 4.2 the exchange service process eats my whole battery so I can't tell about any improvement.

When it comes to battery life (in general, though especially true with this newest release), it's crazy how many divergent opinions you get. Some people claim to get amazing battery life (exactly what quantifies for amazing?) and some people claim the battery life is crap. This is just to remind you that unless you have a good way of measuring battery life, your measurements can be plus/minus hour(s). Someone who just leaves their phone on a black screen with no wi-fi and cell may get 10 hours of screen-on time. Someone who is watching videos with cell/wi-fi might only get 2 hours of screen-on time.
In the future, I can make two recommendations:
Always report a complete cycle (from 100% to close to 0%). This is because the battery does not discharge at a constant rate.
Always report screen on time
Average for GNexus in previous builds was 2-4 hours. I've no idea about the plus/minus, but they tend not to be under 2 and over 4 with moderate usage. I think an average of 3-3.5 hours is what most people are happy to report.
And that is really sad because my old atrix used to get over 8 hours on Wi-Fi with over twelve hours of standby time. I wish they would make this phone but with a smaller screen size. The technology used on this phone is not battery efficient at all.

This tells us nothing....u don't show ur screen on time and uve been charging off and on..
Battery life in sleep mode is worse for me. I am losing 3% an hour with the screen off, I used to lose only 3% total overnight with the screen off not per hour. I tested this over the last 4 hours only waking the tablet up long enough to check the battery level and it has gone down by 3% each time. Nothing has changed with any apps or setting since I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2. I got concerned when I noticed this morning that my battery was over 15% less then when I went to sleep. Anyone else notice this?
This is very good battery by my standards.

50% left 23h 11m on baterry. wifi and location on all the time and 10% wasted on need for speed most wanted also. brightnes at 80% aprox. im very pleased with the baterry really maybe becouse the phone is relatively brand new and the battery still very fresh allways charging with care after discharge not on and off the charger all the time
yeah using the 4.2 factory image with trinity a4 and getting great battery life

Baterry Life Geesh!

So I decided to do what the manufacturer recommends when it comes to the battery, you know, charge it fully then discharge it. So I pulled it off the charger at 6am at 100%....moderate to heavy usage all day as I just unwrapped it, went to bed at 76%...so i turned on navigation and opened up a movie on Netflix hoping that would drive the battery down. I woke up at 56%! Myvold note would be dead, but this thing just keeps going! Christmas have mercy, this thing is amazing!

Yea man,Samsung did a phenomenal job this time around with the battery .I came from the i717 and I am so happy about battery life now!!!!
agreed. I was skeptical about the battery life reviews prior to purchasing and with a larger display and faster processor I figured no way any of this could be true. Coming from Galaxy SII that could not make a 6 hour day of use without being tethered to a PC and going out with anything less than a full charge was a recipe for disaster.
I can go a full day browsing and playing music on my Note II and not drain the battery.
Battery life is amazing. I have to really try and kill it to get it dead inside of a day.

It's not too hard to kill the battery on this monster. You can do a few things to really get the battery down, such as actual gaming, watching movies, and a lot of web browsing. Outside of that, it's really difficult to kill this battery under 24 hours. I have had very limited usage on my phone over the holiday. I am up to 77+ hours of battery time and a little over 3 hours of screen-on time and still have 7% battery left! If someone put a gun to my head and asked me to truthfully tell them when's the last time I had a phone other than the Note II, that could last 3 days without a charge, someone better call a really good clean-up crew!
I love the battery life, but I'm thinking about getting an extended battery just for the heck of it.

I have everything turned on. Bluetooth, exchange sync, all Google services sync, Skype in background, IM+ in background, weather update at 15min and still can't come close in draining the battery. I am also trying to fully charge the battery and drain it. It takes me a day and half to kill it with everything running and navigation running wherever I go.

I too am quite surprised by the battery life offered by the Note II. This thing simply smokes any other phone I've used in terms of how long I can get out of a single charge, it's really impressive. I'm used to plugging my phone in every 6-8 hours on a day of heavy usage even with power saving mode turned on, whereas the Note II seems to be able to go pretty much all day and even then some depending on the usage.
I have the s3, but two of my good friends both have noteII and the first thing they both mentioned to me about the phone is the battery life! After being around one for a full day with much usage, I must agree it is very impressive for such a big screen!

another battery drain question from screen

So late last week I installed liquid smooth and it was working awesome! was seeing -2.3% an hour on my battery drain. but as of two days ago, i'm getting a low of -13% drain an hour and sometimes all the way up to -38% an hour! The charge rate has even fallen from 24% an hour down to a cahrge rate of 10% an hour.
I think the culprit is the screen because it shows at >50% on the battery monitor and in the app "battery drain"
I've honestly searched and searched but can't find a solution to this. How can I pinpoint why my screen is using so much battery (brightness is on auto) even when my phone is in standby most of the day?
Same problem mate, mine is almost 80% drain by screen only..I replaced new battery also in RMA but its also not worked, maybe new update of android fix the problem..mine currently is 4.2.2 JB on nexus 7

I'm not sure what's going on with the graph from my battery usage page. For some reasons, it would jump to 100% which is impossible. Anyone of you has seen something like this before?

Same here... Every discharge cycle. But performance and battery life are not compromised....
I noticed the same thing today for the first time. But not as bad or as much as yours is showing.
I see those spikes on my Nexus 7 2013. And I get a terrible battery as well. My tablet loses about %30 of its battery charge during night when it is in sleep mode. Does anybody experience the same issue? Is there a way to fix this?

You must have an app installed that's causing that much drop off. Mine drops off like 2%.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I have seen spike on mine, too, but not up to 100%, only 1-2% more than its actual level. I thought it's because it was the first charge cycle and the reading weren't yet calibrated. I'll see if they go away after a few more cycles.
I don't have battery drain, as well, I lose 2-3% overnight with wifi and sync still on.

Hey everyone,
My Nexus 7 (2013) is having the same problem with battery graph. There are about 2-3 spikes to 100% in every discharge cycle.
I noticed this problem has been reported in different cycles, but no one seems to be able to give a definite answer of what the source of this problem is.
BTW, after a reset to factory settings, the problem still persists.
ANY idea why this is happening???
