Tablet Talk - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

Just installed this app on my tablet and phone (galaxy nexus). I recently had Syncsms, but that app kind of fell off. So i am now trying this out. My question is, does bluetooth have to be one all the time in order to receive messages on my tablet? I noticed that when i shut my BT off, there is a notification that says "Disabled. Click to Enable". When i click it, it tries to turn BT back on again. Even though im already connected thru wifi.

I for one think cloud SMS is better. It works via WiFi and does not need to be tinkered with. You can start a phone call from the tab with that app too.

Tablet talk allows you to use either bt or wifi. You can set it up to use just wifi if that is what you prefer, that way you don't need bt on.

The downfall to tablet talk is adjusting/configuring IP addresss. There is no configuring with cloud SMS or mighty text besides google account permissions. I used tablet talk for a while until I ran across cloudsms and mightytext.

For those of you on Verizon this app works flawlessly on all of my tablets. http://goo.gl/jQOxZ

I've used cloud SMS and tablet talk, never had to fiddle with addresses once in TT, in fact it's pretty simple, just switch from Wi-Fi to BT dending on if you are on a network or not. One of the pluses of TT is that you can also use it on BT when off network or on mobile hotspot.

Mighty Text killed this app.

Tablet talk required work configuration. I will go with mighty text. It was much simpler to set up

In Mighty Text, is it possible to show the contacts name and pic instead of just the number. Tablet Talk did this and had a better interface
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Just install mighty text. I just did and it is pretty awesome.
It does display the name with an icon. I don't have pictures set so not sure if its an option or just a default icon.

Mighty text allows you to view contacts, an easy setup but it does require it to sync with your gmail to gather contacts photos. Up to you if you feel comfortable with that our not. I use mighty text btw

Just got MightyText after reading this thread - freakin' awesome! Can even view texts on iPad! The sync is very quick between all devices!

Does Cloud SMS forward incoming calls to your tab? I usually listen to music and youtube on my tab with my bt headset on and I need to know when I do get an incoming call. I won't be able to hear my phone ring especially on the road.

Do you need active data connection with these apps?

yes, the tab wont detect the call or message if its not connected via bluetooth or wifi.

Twitter contacts sync still broken

Twitter updated to 3.1.1 on the Market yesterday.
Contacts sync is still not working. Just thought I would pass this along if not posted already.
Regards,
at the risk of asking the obvious did you activate the sync settings in the app? Three dots> settings> your account> sync...
Then activating in the ics accounts and sync settings?

Last update broken notifications. This latest update supposedly fixed them.
My settings work. Sync doesn't though.
Yeah latest update, notification works, not Contact Sync.

Does twitter not offer a sync api to third parties? I went back to plume when they did their big update not too long ago. I've noticed friendcaster for Facebook offers some sort of sync but I find it odd that no 3rd party twitter app has sync yet.

The contact sync issue is almost certainly related to their security problem in February. I think they purposely still have it off.

We're talking about contacting syncing in this thread and yours is broken too.
If you want twitter sync to work go to 4shared and download an older version of Twitter, resync and there you have it.

Nice, I did notice this yesterday on the update list.
One thing that still drives me bonkers is when I ask it to set a timer..
Like "set a timer for 10 minutes" it ALWAYS creates a NEW stupid alarm. Why cant Google just build in a countdown timer and have it run off that?
Its really annoying the fact it creates a new alarm for everything and doesn't delete when its done.
Launching apps only works with certain apps. Won't even launch Chrome.

Possibly, though i'm running off the last RC of Liquid JB, and its using the CM10 clock in it :/
Wonder if I have to install a different clock in order for it work properly?
Does it set a timer within that 4.2 clock? or still set a new alarm?

Yes, I use the stock AOSP email for a unified inbox with my gmail and exchange, and it worked great. I do have the gmail app installed, but don't use it, you might need it on the phone for it to work properly, but it will do it without you even checking your gmail app.

[Q] Tasker Help

So I'm relatively new to Tasker and have been generally just searching for write ups on certain tasks/profiles I'm interested in but am running into a wall. Basically, I want to create a task that turns my screen brightness up to 70% when I'm driving, then back down to 25% when I've reached a destination (which will not always be predetermined). For now I just have it so when I'm at home my screen brightness is 25%.
Any advice?
Thanks.

Thanks, I appreciate that.
Is there anyway to adjust the gps from updating once every 3 minutes to see if I'm at home? Killing my battery.
Edit: The best solutions I have found are A) Using Net instead of GPS . It's accurate enough for my needs and doesn't really effect the battery. B) setting my brightness to dim when at home and brighten when leaving home. This allows it to brighten any time I'm on the road but dim when returning home. Any other locations -such as work or other places I frequent- will have to be added in a similar manner to my solution for home.
Thanks for the input!

I have a new issue. If someone wouldn't mind chiming in I'd appreciate it.
I have a profile set up in Tasker to turn on gps when I open maps and turn gps off when I close maps. I installed secure settings, the secure settings plug in and have tested it and have confirmed it is working well. The issue is, when I turn off the screen or switch to another app, despite the fact that maps is running in the background, gps still shuts off. I'm still very new to Tasker and only have a vague understanding of variables, but I can't help but think there's a solution involving a variable.
Thanks for any input!

My tasker "AtHome" task uses a combo of the cell towers and my home wifi. It only starts looking for the wifi when in the cell tower area.
The tasker wiki has some examples and recipes that make it easier to get the hang of it.

Use an nfc tag in the car which toggles between 70 and 25%.

Normally the green bar that the arrow is pointing to is red, but since the time specified in the variable matches the time in the status bar it turns green. So something is happening, it's just not sending the message.

you dont even need tokens anymore though. It WORKS, 100%, it just takes some work.
You touch the corners of the main page, and colors appear. THen you touch the bottom left (the orange on) for a second time so it disappears, and you shake the device.
You're then given the option of a 'secret' login. It shows you how to make you own twitter app (that way you dont need a token from Falcon anymore) and you copy / paste a couple of things into the app and you're set.
Dont turn this guy away from the best twitter app if you THINK it doesn't work. It does, and it's awesome

Falcon Pro is awesome, but I have to give Plume a nod, too. Landscape column / list support is great on the N7, something I wish Falcon could do with that extra space. The integrated browsing experience with Falcon is still unmatched, though.

Is it only doing that when you send SMS/MMS?
I think that SMS/MMS have to be sent over the mobile network, and that's why it's enabling 3G/4G.
Problem is it never disables mobile radio afterwards. Have to restart phone to get back to WiFi only
It needs some kind of integration between sms and hangout message in one thread.

I've been trying to figure this out since last night. It won't even let me send MMS at all. I can send sms with mobile data off and wifi only on, but when I try to send MMS to another user that doesn't use hangouts it activates mobile data if I have it on, and tries to send but never does. Or if I have mobile data off, it doesn't even try to send. Maybe an update will fix.
