[Q] Android artist resources - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Other than seeing stuff that people have submitted on youtube or deviant art, I'm not having much luck finding sites that are specifically for artists on an android (or IOS) platform. I've started on a spreadsheet that lists out the available tools on android and what features they have so they can be compared but I was wondering if there was a site that talks about that kind of thing specifically? I dont find the descriptions or reviews on the play store particularly helpful as the only scratch the surface of the tools functionality and its only after purchasing that you realise its missing x, y or z meaning you need something else as well.
I also like to watch video's of people drawing and would like to see more of them to help me pick up techniques I hadn't considered as a digital newbie.
Any sites you can share with me?

I am getting the Note 8 just so I have the artistic on the go work I want to do. I am looking at photoshop and sketchbook for my drawing needs but like you have not seen much on doing art on android. Maybe its time to start a site
I will post any info I find here that might be interesting to artists.

Sounds good, I currently have PS touch an sketchbook installed not sure what samsung included. I will help with any apps or info I can.
I will look into a site for images and forums for android artwork. I only have android so I will only do this this if I can control the site from my note 8. Will post back here about it in a few days, still learning the note an want the weekend to figure stuff out.

I'm tempted to start a new site using webs.com or something similar specific for mobile tablet artists, but not sure if I will or not yet as it would probably take more upkeep than I'm willing to perform. I mostly use the web while at work but only have limited access and I'm rarely on PC when at home.
Anyone want to help? At the moment the note forums are all seperate but the apps and resources that we all use are common to everyone. My vision is for a front page that would link to various tablet specific resources, guides, reviews etc. List out the tablets with stylus support with links to the xda forums and a forum for people to share there art. discuss apps, techniques etc etc.
I may be able to get this chart finished as well...

[Q]Iphone Apps for Android: A new look

Yes, yes, yes.. There are multiple versions of this thread floating around.. and Yes I did a search for them but none of them are quite what I was looking for. I've been seeing and reading things recently, ok the article isn't so recent but me reading it is. Anyway, It talks about being able to compile recent iphone apps for use on Android phones. I know they are written in certain language (objective-c) and Androids are (java).. But, as stated on that site:
“Well with no code changes, about 2 hours to have the graphics tweaked (thanks to @pneal), I was able to port Happy Peg over to Android.”
In regards to why I want this... I want to be able to play Urban Rivals on my android.. Yes, this can be played by just going to there website, but it runs extremely slow and it wasn't meant for people with sausage fingers like myself.
So I guess the Question would be.. Would you be able to Decompile an iphone app and recompile for Adobe AIR and then use that app on an android phone?
I appreciate the support and look forward to seeing some constructive thoughts on the matter.
You know what I want? CANABALT! They made it for the iPhone and not Android and im pissed.
Just found this Video on Youtube. A company is developing a way to convert Objective-C or Java (and others) into and out of HMLVN. So this would allow converting of iphone apps to Android apps.
http://xmlvm.org/overview/ IS there website.. They say the only way to download the source code is subversion.. but I don't know what that means.
Subversion: method by which governments control their sheeple. See WMD's.
Absolutely no help there leebo.

Is there a programing App/website out there for Non Programmers?

I've not seriously programmed since I was 10-12 years old and Peek'd/Poke'd my way through in BASIC on my C=64. I'm wanting to create an app to use on my phone and even release into Marketplace for others. It's a general Ballistics program. I've noticed there is nothing out there that I can find for the hobby or competitive shooter. If someone else wants to take up the challenge, please feel free. But, if not, I'd be willing to do one if I can find the programs to help with this. Also, does anyone have any books or other sites that will explain the programing languages needed to make a current (Mango) compatible app.
Thanks
JTMcD.

I'm with you!
I don't want to create a feed based app either, mine is strictly texted based with a search feature. Not quite as easy as it looks
I've spent all day looking at the attached document. It's a small tutorial on WP development.

[Project] View GeoLocations with Augmented Reality

hello forum people, well basically it’s like the Tittle says, I am currently developing a application that can save GeoLocations, then view them in augmented reality, it’s a school project and i wanted to see if someone else had developed something similar With "Windows phone 7" I’ve been searching allot of examples and stuff to get the main idea, but still not much luck, there are lots of good Android apps (like the ones I’d like to find) to guide myself in developing this app.
Project description.
-Must save geolocations with a desktop application developed in C# with visual Studio 2010.
-Augmented Reality app developed with Visual Studio (WP7), must display the text in the Geolocation with a short description.
little example.
Save a geolocation of a building, in that building there will be a meeting at 8:00 PM, the augmented reality app must show the building, the distance in Meters and the meeting description.
If someone knows of a similar project, or likes the idea post your comments, this is mainly for help, I am a bit stuck in my developing.
Actually I’ve been just testing different types of augmented reality apps and codes.
What about Nokia City Lens?
I cant try this app yet, because in mexico is not yet released. but could be a good Example, cant view the code thou.. =(

I'm from Mexico, you can "suscribe" to Nokia Beta Labs (betalabs.nokia.com) and you can get the app.
Sorry if you want some code, it is a Nokia closed project.

I can refer you to a little app that the company i am working with, ARLab, developed thanks to our SDKs, it's called ARPicBrowser. It's a bit similar to what you're talking about. It's not the same but it could bring you some insight. It is also open source, which is why i thought it would help you out. Here you can access the source code. By the way, if you're interested in augmented reality development you can check out our SDKs. You might find them useful.
Thanks!
Right now im at school, with the school Desktop PCs I can't test the code, but when i arrived home i will check on this, Thank you.
I just glanced the links you posted, is this only available to IOS & Android? no WP7 support?

Well, this is indeed an android forum XD but in any case, we do not have WP7 support now. It is in our roadmap but we don't have neither a release date nor anything too well planned about it as yet. Sorry

Managing collections with the Nexus 7

Hi,
Does anyone know of an app (or apps) that allow me to use the Nexus 7 to manage my ever growing CD/DVD/Comics collection? I know there are a few apps out there but I'd need to be able to sync the data between my Nexus and my phone (for portability).
Also, do barcode scanners work on the Nexus?
Try XBMC. It does everything you need, movies, tv shows, pictures, comics and more. Its currently in beta so there is no official build for Android but if you do a quick google search you will see that there are unofficial .apk's to try. Check out forum.xbmc.org to find all of the info you will ever need to know. Its a very friendly community.

No, when I said collection I meant physical items, I want to inventory them (and keep that inventory in sync on multiple devices) so that I quit buying duplicates
Something like Evernote? You can take pictures of your collection, label the items, and sync across all your devices/PC.
At least I think you can do that.....
The Collectorz apps are excellent, but also kind of pricy. I use the gaming app and it works great.

Something like that yes, but one that doesn't need me to install anything on Windows or Mac (linux user). I'm trying out 'My Media Catalog' atm, it looks like it comes the closest to my goals of all apps I've found so far, but it still leaves a lot to be desired...
Next app to check will be Shelves...

Getting organized. AnoteHD vs. Snote vs. whatever

Hi guys
I Was Wondering if you could help me get organized.
like Many of you probably, I have both AnoteHD and Snote. And like Many of You again, I think a hybrid between the two would Work best. So I thought I Would share my Sentiments and ideas, and then we could look at the options and discuss apps.
I really like the UI of AnoteHD, but think it is very limited. Its Such a let down You cant even edit the position of the pictures you added once you drop them into a note. But otherwise I really like the folder options and stock note backgrounds.
Snote has a very comprehensive note taking/ making ability. However, its a little disappointing that you cannot group notes together or "bind them" after thier creation. this coupled with the boring and limited folder Method.
As far as calendar I like The way AnoteHD is setup or at least I think it is easier to work with, especially with to-do's which is the Majority of my interaction with this app. I feel as Though S planner May have potential but Just the fact it is giving me what seems like proprietary back talk about not syncing with my google calendar is annoying. Though I found a tread discussing that issue it seemed unclear to me if they resolved this issue. I tried as well and had no progress with it. Being able to draw on your calendar Seems like a relevant function and gives you more freedom than AnoteHD. Also, I believe S planner does not Show you past due tasks or upcoming tasks as Well as AnoteHD.
Some of the Useless functions between these two apps :
A-note HD: The ability to edit the creation date? (Is this for the procrastinater?)
Snote: All the different templates Seem a little Silly.
Is there away to Change the default search engine for the Knowledge Search from wolfalpha gram?
As far as other apps, I remember I Used to utilize Go launcher on my former HTC phone. However it Was Junked With Ads unless you paid for it. And to use their task app you need to Mask your Stock UI With theirs, which Im under the impression will eat More Memory and battery. If things have Changed With this app or you have another app to Recommend, please let me Know.
Tips and tricks are also Welcome.(please ease the random capitalizations) I'm interested to hear What works for You.

Why narrow it down to two apps? Have you tried LectureNotes for note taking or looked into the functions of Write? Also, which SNote version are you using? I much prefer the one ported from the Note 3 because it has the extra functionality however not everyone agrees.
Just a few thoughts.

Im interested so I'll check it out. I was rather more hoping this would turn into a discussion but I see it does not seem to strike a chord with anyone else. Either way thanks for the feed back. Ill give them a try.

Ahhh, I dont not even think of it. Since there was some personal gain for me as a result I put it in here. Maybe I'll repost or would a mod move it over if I asked?
Thanks,
