Any backup apps since Titanium is not working? - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

Titanium backup doesn't seem to work on this tab (or maybe on 4.3 yet) They updated it but that didn't do it. Anyways now that roms are rolling out I would like to be able to flash without losing stuff Any suggestions of an alternative app for now?

Titanium backup works perfect for me on 4.3 stock and cm10.2

Did you have to do anything special to get it to work?
I was able to restore fine, but when I go to backup everything and then try to copy that fold to my computer it does not work. I can copy anything and everything else off of to tab to my computer but not the Titanium Backup folder..

Make sure TiBu is closed when you don't that.

I made sure it was closed and then tried copying, got "Unspecified Error"

Working cine for me as well, restore and backing up. Didn't do anything special. Are you moving the files while the device is locked or awake?

Some said u have to change the backup location in settings of tbu to this it gotta be legacy/titaniumbackup

Yeah I had to do that to restore, but for some reason to pull the folder off I had to resort to zipping it up with astro and then copying it to my computer. Got it working more though thanks.

No prob dude hopefully they update tbu with some fixes for 4.3

I also had problems with Titanium Backup but it turned out to be problems with permissions even though I gave it full permission. When I loaded up the SuperSU, it said it needed a binary update, and after I did that the problem disappeared. See if you also need an update (it required a reboot).

mine works with no issues on stock 4.3 rooted

The only thing that seems to not stick for me is breaking an apps market link

Well I just backed up just the data in twrp then just restored after I flashed the new ROM. Seems to work great. Better than messing around with tb

Rom Toolbox Pro works fine for backups

As user "gahsan" said, try updating SuperSu binary. Worked for me.

Anyone have trouble uploading to Google Drive? I always get a network error. It worked fine downloading the backup I had but it won't upload. Tried removing Drive and readding but it didn't work.

I have the same trouble. Can't upload to Google. Logged into Google and watched it create a directory and then fail.
Happens every time...

The easiest way to do this is by closing TB and then go in your file explorer (i use ES file explorer) and rename TB folder. I usually add an S in the end and when i copy them back, i remove the S. The reason is that TB backup files are being used by app in tablet rather than USB storage. Thus they can not be read.
Also you can freeze TB from Settings.
Then connect your tab via usb and copy it.
I hope that is easier !

[APP] EFS Backup for Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
Here is a simple app to backup a copy of your EFS in .img format to your /sdcard folder. While it is not checked during runtime, root is required.
It's fairly basic at the moment, this being my first Android app
Hope I can improve on this while I pick up more stuff about Android programming.
Special thanks to silow whom I learnt the commands for Galaxy Nexus EFS backup.
Useful application! But you definitely need to replace that black screen when app is making the backup many will tend to close the application believing that this is not working!
So if you use this now wait 3-4 minutes and will announce when backup is done!
And definitely you need to add the Restore EFS from backup option!
EDIT!
Will be something like kTool for GN!
We need this!Good work and good luck!
In market?

That's strange, you mean it doesn't display a progress dialog with a spinner for you?
Restore is easy to add but testing if it works is a bit tricky
Nop no progress dialog with a spinner (tried 3 times)! Just black screen and then Backup done! Will reinstall and try again later!
EDIT!
Installed again and now it display a progress dialog with a spinner! Strange!
I get a pop up /w spinner for what it's worth.

In what situation could this ever happen?
Not sure about the gnex, but on the i9100 it can happen randomly with a rom flash (rarely). Independent of rom or quality thereof.

Interesting, I've flashed many a ROM, mostly on HTC devices, and never had this issue. Is it a Samsung thing?
HTC, on the other hand, seems to have a knack for killing the MISC partition
I've also had an HTC (Desire), and never knew about this EFS partition (nor did I have any issues).
I am wondering though, if it does get corrupted, and we have a backup, can we restore the .img using Fastboot if we're unable to get back into Android to use this app to restore?

So it's not really necessary, but Samsung went ahead and put it on there anyway, making sure that if it's modified/overwritten/corrupted the phone will become a paperweight?

Phones still do boot with corrupted /efs, but you will have a generic IMEI and stuff probably won't work

So the question again: Why did Samsung put this somewhere where it can be so easily overwritten/corrupted/broken?

Play store installed apps error after data wipe

So I recently did a data wipe in order to upgrade to aokp b29. Before the whole process, my market worked fine, but now my installed apps are not appearing nor can I see that other tab (all apps? Or something... History?) because it gives an error as shown in the attached screenshot. My Installed tab just shows the apps I manually installed after restoring everything with titanium backup. I have about 310 apps on my phone and only the last 4 I installed yesterday show up. I have a suspicion that it was titanium backup that caused my play store account to bug out because I remember the market was fine after I booted up b29 for the first time but haven't used titanium backup yet, then after restoring all my apps + data, my play store became messed up. I tried using the market link doctor function on titanium backup to redo all the attached links to the market but that didn't help. Also tried clearing market data and cache, and restoring phone but obviously that didn't work either. Any suggestions? I was hoping that waiting for it to be fixed on its own would work but it's been like this for 4 days now, I would like to avoid another data wipe if it can be helped :x thanks.

By all means yes back them up but the only thing I'd recommend restoring is your SMS, music or pictures. Stuff that's not going to be potentially corrupt is safe. A good idea us to use a tool kit like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310 and use the option to BOOT not flash cwm recovery and create a nandroid backup so if you aren't happy with the results at least you can return to your current state. A fresh install is best IMO just to make sure you don't install things which are broken

There are TONS of people having this and similar problems - a quick search of the forums and the net in general will bear this out.
You can do whatever you like if it makes you feel good, but Google's going to have to fix this one themselves.

App2zip

Go check out this app in the market.
It creates a zip of your apps that you can flash in cwm when you wipe phone. I know for a fact it doesn't work on Eugene's cm7 but maybe it works on other Roms. Test it first

For addictive flashers like me, this application is a God send!!
There are some bugs but here's the way to fix it:
0. Install the APPS2ZIP application from the link above.
1. Get a root file browser
2. Copy the "update-binary" file found in any T989 roms ZIP file \meta-inf folder.
3. Paste/overwrite the file here: /data/data/scd.app2zip/files
and then run the APPS2ZIP to create the update.zip file.
I have tested this file and it works great!! Its like flashable Titanium Backup restore !!
Well looking here we can make it work. Ill be testing on my lunch break!

Yes, it restores data as well. Infact its the bad thing, I wanted it to have the option of just restoring the app and no data.
Not sure how the folder structure for CM7 is, I tested it on BeastMod5. Can you look in /data location. It should be there.

I can't count the hours I spent re-setting up all my apps after flashing. I never want to use Ti backup since I screwed it up once. This seems much easier for me.

Barclays Pingit

Hi,
I've been searching around for a few weeks now, looking for a solution to run Pingit on my rooted device. Stumbled across this this evening, and followed the steps to change the root access of my phone.
This still doesn't enable me to even download the app from the Play Store, however.
I'm running Slim ICS 3.5, and I'm wondering if the app is not yet compatible with Android 4.0.4? I've look all over the place for the APK file to give it a go manually, but to no avail.
If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I can get it to display in the market, but download does not work. It says not available for your country. I am from India.
It says you need a UK mobile number.

Thank for trying anyway.
I can find it in my previously installed apps list, but it won't let me download it with this ROM, citing that it's incompatible with my device. This goes for apps like Sky Go, too. It's almost as though the Play Store doesn't recognise my phone as an SGS2!
I've tried downloading the .apk file with the APK Downloader extension for Google Chrome, but I get a '403 -forbidden' error. Only on this one app, mind you.
If anyone has the app already and can extract it for me, I might be able to install it manually and hide root to use it?
Flash Siyah kernel and install ExTweaks of the Play store, with ExTweaks you can remove root and Pingit works fine!

Cheers mate! Much appreciated!
Tried renaming it from .zip to .apk, but the install fails. Then re-read your post and realised that it's just the data, not the app itself. I'm an absolute noob, so don't really have any suggestions on how to extract the apk file, but someone else might?
Sorry mate, I know what it was.....
...I was dual booting a Sammy ROM with Siyah!?!
When I look on the Play store I don't have the same message but if I try to install from Slim I get a 942 error?

Aah okay. I've not even begun to think about dual-booting.
I did, however, flash the stock Samsung ICS ROM and installed Pingit. Backed it up with CWM so that it would make a backup of the app. Then I restored Slim and Siyah so I was back to where I started.
Tried to restore the app with Titanium Backup. It says that it's been successful, but there's no sign of the app in the drawer or any data at all.
Would have been easier to just back it up with TB then restore, I've never tried extracting from a nandroid? I know it's possible, I just haven't tried.
I've managed to restore Pingit from TB onto Slim ICS 3.6 but haven't tested it because when you uninstall it you loose data and have to phone the Pingit helpline to get your account reset, will test tomorrow.
I can't extract the apk because it's a private app for security reasons, my knowledge of apk's is limited.
Titanium is your only hope or Siyah dual boot!

[Q] How do I retrieve Notational Acceleration notes from Kies3 backup of Galaxy S3?

Here goes:
--Backed up wife's Galaxy S III (T999) in March, along with all app data, using Kies 3
--She was using an app called Notational Acceleration to keep a large number of notes, but no cloud sync
--T999 was replaced, due to water damage, with a Galaxy S III LTE (T999L)
--I figure the notes she made must be somewhere in the backup, so I found a file (com.kludgenics.android.notes-1.apk) that I thought might have them
--tried opening that file on her T999L and a different T999 and got the same message, "There is a problem parsing the package."
How can I find these notes in the backup? Am I looking in the wrong place? What other folders could they be in? I've tried emailing the developer but get no answer.
I greatly appreciate any help.
Wouldn't know where to find the notes but what you found was only the installer for app, the .apk no actual user information is there. The only place it would still have a possibility of being on is probably the phone unless Kies backs up Android data. You could try looking in the /Android/data folder. Alas, if it isn't there I think it is lost forever.

Thanks so much for responding.
I had a feeling the .apk was not the right place, I've used .apk files to install before. It was the only thing I could find that pointed to the app, so it was really wishful thinking. The original phone is back with t-mobile.
I just checked Kies 3, and it gives the option to back up the apps but not the app data; it doesn't seem like it's even possible to do with the program! I need to search for another backup program for Samsung phones, I'm used to complete backups with CWM on my nexus phones so I'm not used to having these problems. What terms do you suggest I use when searching for the ability to back up the /Android/data folder? Is that just considered "app data?"
I appreciate your help.
When you open that folder on your phone you generally find names of some apps on your phone. I don't use CWM or Kies so I wouldn't know about either unfortunately.

As for the /Android/data folder, is data only located there if the app has root access? Because /Android/data is a root folder, correct?
