Disable annoying facebook notification at startup - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Tab 3 8.0, now rooted!
How do I disable the facebook notification that happens at every startup that wants you to connect your samsung account? Should be obvious but isn't.

+1 on this...annoying!

Ah, got it. Freeze SNS in Titanium backup.

Use auto start manager and disable the boot completed receiver of Facebook app.

[Q] How to turn off Facebook photo sync in the stock gallery?

I have tried turning off Facebook syncing in the account settings and also cleared the data in the gallery app. Yet it still syncs up all my Facebook photos. I despise this feature.
Does anybody know a way to permanently disable it?

Had that issues too but the best way is to uninstall FB app then reinstall it but this time right after the log in screen, uncheck sync galary. That solved it for me. it's pretty painless.

facebook battery usage

hey there, I disabled all the notifications of the facebook app and set syncing to every 4 hours. Still it uses about 1,7% in like 15 hours. Which means it is the top 5 battery drainer altough I dont even use this app. And I don't have any push or notifications on for this app.
Any idea what else i can disable to make the facebook app use less battery ?
Thanks
Greenify it

I would concur with greenify, but that assumes the user has rooted their device. If not I guess I'd look at some kind of task manager to manually kills the process like advanced task manager?

You could try a different Facebook app like flipster

Is that 1.7%? is that really enough to worry about?
Uninstall Facebook altogether and check it via your browser.

i already greenify it.
Since 1.7% is within the top 5.. yes I worry

Facebook makes a lot cpu wakelock. It doesn't matter if notifications are disabled or not.
Change app or greenify it.
CM10.1 powered by franco.kernel
Every now and again I get to teabreak and Facebook has used more battery than screen. I've even reported it to Google. Never happened before they had their major update last year.
Misit de galaxiae nexus usura tapatalk II
And again: Facebook is already on greenify.. still a lot of wakeups :/ guess then i can't do anything but live with it.
You mentioned you don't use the app so why not just remove it?

I use it, but not 24/7.. just from time to time when I want to upload a pic or i am bored.
Then create a shortcut to a titanium backup action to freeze/defrost /launch the application. When not needed just freeze it using the shortcut. The only downside to this is the Iook of the icon.

If you use Facebook to sign in with any other apps that may cause drain.
Carbonized and francofied N4
I also noticed that a lot of messenger apps (not whatsapp e.g.) drain a lot of battery. If available in the rom, I use "hold backbutton to force close app". So after using the app, I press this button until the app is closed. Then at least until restarting your phone, the app is unable to restart and to drain any more of your battery.
Just use the mobile web, its the same and a lot faster

I find it slower and scrolling kinda sucks. Watching videos in the browser isn't the beat either. I like the app. I just keep it greenified.

No update from fb app on notification bar.

When I am on stock touchwiz rom, I get every single update from facebook on notification bar. When I installed a custom rom (Infamous), no update from fb on notification bar. If I launch the app, it shows me update in it but no sign on notification bar. I cleared cache, reinstalled fb app, check auto sync etc etc to make sure it works. But nothing changes. As soon as I flash back the nandroid backup of stock tw rom, fb update works like charm. What's wrong with the custom or deodexed rom then?

I'm not rooted or anything but when I first got my phone yesterday I kept getting a notification to log into Facebook to sync it to my phone. When I clicked the notification it opened up the browser to Facebook and wanted me to let some sort of Samsung app connect to my Facebook. I assume that is what was syncing your notifications. I didn't connect mine to sync so I don't get notifications so I can't verify.

If you restored the fb app using titanium or anything just clear data and relogin.

"Unfortunately, email has stopped"

This only seems to happen when i click on a notification in the status bar. the phone goes black, resets to home screen, then email works.
Anyone else have this issue? I see it's also an issue for other galaxy phones, just wondering if anyone with the note3 has resolved this.
thanks
Jason
I know what I am about to tell you is not going to fix the problem you're having, BUT just letting you know... I've been using Aqua Mail Pro on my Android for quite sometimes now, and I will NEVER, EVER use the stock email EVER! I'm a heavy email user but even if all I had was just my Gmail or Yahoo!, etc., still I would use Aqua. Many, many more features...

i like the stock email app for exchange mail , when it works, and mostly it always has and still does, except for this annoyance. ill give aqua a try. how is it on battery drain? i have fount k9 touchdown and EE to be big battery drainers.
Never have noticed a battery drain problem directly related to Aqua. Have had as many as 5 emails in it (with one being Exchange & 2 IMAP) with no problems...
Had trouble with exchange settings on it. Does it support exchange mail?

It's a dependency that we froze in Titanium I bet. Same thing happened when I froze My Magazine and used TouchWiz.
We just have to find out which dependency(ies) it is.

im pretty sure this was happening right out of the box.
Same issue
I have same issue on T mobile version.
Note 3 SM-N9005 (4G) same problem. Not sure if it was stuffed from out of the box as the first thing I did was root and remove stuff. Now same problem, freeze upon notification and then opens ok

Force closes?

I have my note 3 rooted running stock rom with just a couple of apps disabled frozen such as chat on, s voice, pen up, etc. Nothing that should interfere with the system or anything. But my email app will just force close sometimes Idk why. Has this been happening to anybody else?

Try clearing the data on the email app and the exchange app. Reboot the device and see if that fixed it

I have pinpointed it to when new mail is arriving.force closes 100% of the time.
I think I've found the culprit. I froze the 2 'my magazine' files.
Upon restoring them the email and Touchwiz stopped force closing. If I refreeze them, email FCs 100% of the time when new mail arrives.

I am on Sprint, but have had the same issue--once I defrosted the magazine apps, the issue went away.
Nice!
