Can't use *#*#4636#*#* - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

I can't seem to use the *#*#4636#*#* code in the dialer, nothing happens after typing it. I'm looking to force the phone to use 3G signals and even the app from the play store can't modify the radio. Is this option carrier limited or the firmware does not really allow it?

I couldn't get to the info menu either, but I could set the preferred network to 3G from carrier menu. It still sometimes drops from 3G to 2G but not as often.

[Q] Diagnostics settings

The T-Mobile G2 has *#*#4636#*#* to enter the diagnostics function.
Would there be anyone out there that could give me the best (performance) settting options that I should select with my G2 when in the diagnostic mode? Thanks in advance!
Aloha From Hawaii
I mostly use WCDMA only. You also can downlaod AnyCut from the market and load the shortcut PHONE INFO and it will do the same thing as dialing those numbers
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Also too, why do I use WCDMA only is for it only looks for HSPA+. That way if I'm say in walmart it does not go back and forth on HSPA+ and Edge all the time. If its not 100% HSPA+ than my cell won't connect and waste that little bit of battery roaming
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
If you're in a city with good HSPA or 3G coverage, use WCDMA preferred. If you're in a city with spotty 3G/HSPA coverage, use GSM auto (PRL). The first will connect to 3G/HSPA if at all possible. The second option needs to reach a higher signal threshold before it switches to 3G/HSPA. I've tested both.

I know this is a newb question but what does it mean when you see all of those numbers and symbols? Is it a number to call or text? I want to know because I say it under the OTA post in order to "Check In" but I have no idea what it means or how to use it.
Its basiclly a code to get into phone information on your cell

You enter it just like a phone call, then it will present the Phone Info menus to you. To checkin, it's the same sort of thing, just dial *#*#2432546#*#*
Hope that helps.

[Q] No data connection in Germany using pre-paid Vodafone SIM at all

Mobile signal is perfectly fine - I can send and receive calls and SMS. I am running G2Slim 1.6. Radio is the latest - 26.13.04.19_M, but I tried several different radios with no result. I have tried every combination of data roaming/only 2g networks allowed/disallowed. I have talked to the reps at the store and they said everything should be correctly activated as far as the SIM goes and data should be working.
It is entirely possible that this is a hardware problem with my phone - I've been having problems with my WiFi that seem to be caused by hardware. However, data works fine in the U.S. Any ideas? What steps can I take to diagnose this?
In the dialer type *#*#4636#*#* check your settings
You also may want to check if the proper apn is set up

Thank you!
I did not know about this menu, although I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. It gives "No Error" for the reason data is disconnected. Network type is set to WCDMA preferred. I tried toggling DNS check, no difference. Although I can't imagine that would matter, phone has to connect to something before it needs to worry about DNS.
As far as APN's - in the normal Mobile networks menu, when I go to Access Point Names, the list is blank. Perhaps this is significant?
That's your problem, need to add the apn you need. You can find this info by googling it and if you find nothing helpfull there are apps on the market that can do most of the wrok for you

How to lock to 3G network? Solution / app?

In Viper ROMs notification bar there was a switch for 2G/3G/2G+3G.
I really miss this option in other ROMs, where only 2G/2G+3G is available. In auto mode (2G+3G) my phone often has trouble choosing network which makes the connection very unstable.
Do you have any tips for an app or widget that will let me lock to 3G only?
Thanks.
Try going to Settings - Mobile Networks - change Network Mode to WCDMA only.
Coming from a Sense 3.6 ROM here. Might be different from ROM to ROM.

Sorry forgot to mention, I use AOKP, where there is no such option in the Settings menu. But I recall your solution works in original and Sense ROMs.
type in wcdma into Google play and it should show an app called network, it simply accesses the network settings inside the os and allows you to change to wcdma only (3G). this does need set after every boot though.

Download APN Backup/Restore. i have the same phone with the same problem. Once you have downloaded the app, open it. there is a button that says delete APN's. hit it. now you can access and create a new APN. the problem is that the origanal APN's are so out of date, it causes the program to crash.

LTE/CDMA in ro.radio.networkmode screws up phone.

Hi, guys I recently ran into an issue with the build prop modification in regards to network selection. If I enable the network selection as pointed out in one of the other threads and select LTE /CDMA my phone will lock on LTE however no phone calls can be made out or recieved. I had to reflash to 10k then reroot and then change the build prop to CA/TLS and finally hardreset via stock recovery. Anybody else have this issue?
UPDATE... looks like as long as i dont try to make a call the option to switch it back to auto is still there. One a call is attempted and fails the option to set to auto disappears.

I understand but after it's been on LTE for a while it doesn't give you the option to switch back.

How are you changing it? Changing it via Build.Prop? Then there is your problem, JUST change it using the setting under mobile networks..

I'm changing it under mobile networks.
Stop changing it to lte/cdma and you're phone will no longer mess up. Leave it on gsm/wcdma/lte auto. You're phone will switch when the appropriate network is available!!!

Simple fix. Just select airplane mode for a few and then toggle it off and you'll see your network options come back once data roaming turns off and your carrier logo appears. I typically run lte/CDMA to get consistent lte speed bit when a callsade I have the same issue as you. But I just gave your the fix so your good

Thanks a lot captain obvious, the point of the thread wasn't to "not switch it" dude, it's finding a work around and make everybody aware of what happens.
