[Q] Video camera preview is stretched on AT&T S3 with CM 10.1 Stable - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I recently installed CM 10.1 Stable release on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3, and everything is working fine, except for an oddity with the camera. When the mode is switched to video, the preview screen appears stretched horizontally when the phone is in portrait mode, and the screen is stretched vertically when the phone is in landscape. The recorded video itself, however, looks just fine. Does anybody else have this problem and if so, is there a known fix? Thank you.

Just curious how come you aren't running the 10.2 stable? That release is a bit better in my opinion. I was on that one once and didn't have issues. How did you flash the ROM? Have you tried reflashing?

I'm running 10.1.2-d2att, the stable just came out last month, I checked and the latest nightly build is still 10.1. I used Heimdall in Download mode to push ClockworkMod on my phone and then install CM. I wiped the phone first and this is the first custom ROM I've had on it. I haven't tried reflashing yet but it's not that major of a problem that I'd want to go through that hassle. Are there perhaps any other camera app alternatives out there to download?

Oh sorry that's what I meant 10.1.2 sorry for the confusion. I would try a fresh reflash of the ROM.

[Q] Issues With Vignette?

Hello all!
So I've installed CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1 and it's amazing. But it seems that when I run Vignette (which is a fantastic camera app btw) the viewfinder is messed up.
The bottom half of the screen is completely black, while the top half is stretched and distorted.
I reflashed the stock rom and everything was fine. It just doesn't seem to work properly in CyanogenMod.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any idea on how to fix it?

I've got the same issue and since Vignette is my favorite Camera App. i'm sort of bummed out. I'm not sure if there's a fix but that's something Cyanogen will have to look into.
Besides the bottom half of the screen being black, you can still take pictures and they turn out just fine.
Whoa, I'm upset now. I was using Vignette earlier (and I agree, *great* camera app) and it didn't have this problem, but now when I open it I see this problem occurring. What happened I wonder... It'd be great if someone could figure out a way to fix this.

I've got a fix!!! (sort of)
I emailed the developers and one of them responded back to me. She sent me a test build that fixed the issue completely. I suggest emailing the developer to see if she'll send it to you, as well. Good luck! (it's worth it, this version is pretty badass)

[Q] Camera broken Jellybam

Hey guys, I'm running Jellybam 5.1 on my Bell Note 2. However, I've run into a rather annoying problem. The camera doesn't work! It'll take a picture ,but then it'll freeze and then flash 10 seconds later. When I go to view the photo in the gallery, it appears blank and then crashes. Also, it seems as though the quality of the jellybean camera is inferior to the stock camera on touchwiz. Any solutions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i dont have a solution to that, but i suggest you to switch to AOKP or CM10.1 rom. save a lot of trouble.
Its the aosp 4.2 camera right? I believe if u turn off the flash it shud work ok.....not sure cuz im on a tw based rom but give it a shot

Turn off the flash or just press the blue button on the screen to take the pic instead of pressing the screen first.

Its a stable version so it should work. I can't answer because I hate BT lol But give it a shot. I'm also using the latest AK CYLON kernel. His work is usually flawless

Thanks Heath. Was a bit reluctant to reflash as I've spent a few days tweaking my RC1 build and have a shed load of apps loaded for my boys to play with..
I may wait until someone posts a positive on hands free before rebuilding again.
I don't use Bluetooth and can't confirm it working, but this ROM is just awesome!
It has all the features you will need and it runs really smooth. I can really recommend it. Only thing not working for me is sphere in camera - not a big deal though...

I don't have sphere option in mine. Wouldn't that depend on what gapps you used? I used the latest in goo 20130301

I too use gapps 20130301 from goo and have the sphere option. But when aligning the fist image, the "gallery" closes. I had it working on another ROM, but quality of sphere is really bad when shooting in a room (alignment), so I don't miss it. Maybe/hopefully Google improves it in the next version.
EDIT: Indeed the camera gives me more problems than just a buggy sphere... NO images are taken at all! Not even with a 3rd party camera app!
I think this is a major issue. I read that it should be fixed in Android 4.2.2 but apperently this is not the case. Interestingly I had it working in other 4.2.2 ROMs so maybe there is an issue with this LiquidSmooth release...
Anyone else has troubles with the camera?

Mine is working just fine. Maybe try and redownload gapps and see if that's the issue. I'm not sure if the new gapps has an effect on camera apk though. If all else fails, you could always redownload the ROM and get a clean install.
Edit: Alright just checked and sphere is working here flawlessly.

Bit the bullet and went for the update and tried Bluetooth handsfree. Still not working.:crying:
Connects fine, transfers contacts fine but audio during calls (at any volume level) is distorted and robotic (both ways). Even when connected there is intermittent bursts of quiet and distorted audio through the handset speaker which sounds like the connection is trying to drop out. HTC one, Sony Xperia, HTC Cha Cha, HTC Desire all work perfectly on the same car kit.
Tried all devices on a Saab (2008) Ford (2012) and Renault (2011) all the same. Other devices connect and audio is perfect, S3 distorted.
Anyone recommend a Kernel that they have confirmed BT functionality on in car systems?

Thanks for telling! I always do a full wipe when flashing ROMs but then I realised that other ROMs also had the same problem "suddenly". So I tried it once more with reverting to stock, re-rooting,... and now also deleted my backup of "Android" folder that I otherwise always restore to keep some settings. What should I say? It works again! Smooth and flawless (including sphere)! :victory:

Afaik Google implemented its own Bluetooth stack, which obviously is not that great...
"Android 4.2 introduces a new Bluetooth stack optimized for use with Android devices. The new Bluetooth stack developed in collaboration between Google and Broadcom replaces the stack based on BlueZ and provides improved compatibility and reliability."
http://developer.android.com/about/versions/jelly-bean.html
I'm afraid you will have to wait for Android 5 or other fixes... (can be wrong though. I'm not so firm with this matter)
I noticed many people here having BT issues. Not sure if this helps for calling but definitely helps for audio. Check it out.

[Q] Stretched Image When Taking Photos

Hello all,
I recently flashed liquid smooth rom android 4.2.2 on my galaxy s3 i747. I love the rom but for some reason the camera shows a stretched image when taking a photo, but when I go and view the photo taken it looks normal. Why is this happening? The same thing seemed to have when I was on cyanogenmod 10.1. I really don't think its the phones camera but maybe the gapps? Never had this problem on stock touchwiz. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks

It may be a problem with the AOSP camera or your kernel. Lowering the picture's resolution is a temporary fix. If not, try switching between front and back cameras, exit the camera, and reopen camera. Hope i helped!

Thanks for the reply! I have tried that before and still doesn't work. Are you saying I should flash a different kernel? If so which one should I flash?

[Q] Photosphere Camera black screen

After using CyanogenMod versions 9 through 10.2 I made the decision to switch to SlimRom and I am now running SlimKat 4.4.2 Build 4.1. During my entire time with CM, I had an easy time working with ported photosphere enabled camera apk's. However, upon the move to SlimRom, more specifically, the update to KitKat, the photosphere mode of the camera apk I had been using for several months was not working. Although I could take pictures with every other mode of the camera, whenever I switched to photosphere mode, the viewing screen would turn black, with all the rest of the UI working as normal. When I go to move it around, I can still see the dots for lining up the first photo, but it won't even let me take photos with this blacked out screen. I've attached a photo of the app in photosphere mode for better clarification, and I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out here.
Thanks in advance!
I have Slimkat as well. I do know the included Camera does not have Photosphere. If you are using a different app then please post a link so I can give it a whirl and post my findings.

I have pm'ed you the links. My status as a new user prevents me from posting outside links
Yup got it. I will take a look and post back. Have you ever tried the Google Edition Camera ?
EDIT - I tried the Camera app from
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/a...e/NewCameraApp[2].apk
It worked pretty well for me. I am on Slim-d2lte-4.4.2.build.4.4-WEEKLY-3771and KT747 Kernel.
Weird...that was the one that started me on my search for new photosphere apks...
I tried installing the GE one and saw your edit, tried that one again, without luck on either of them so I tried another full wipe, updated to that latest weekly and after a few reboots and system app changes, the GE one appears to work for me. No black screen, the images stitch well and I can view them afterwards, seems like its back to my expectations. Thank you very much.
Glad its working for you. Please see the note on Slim Rom's home page. Google has release a new Camera app. That's working wonders for me.
I will also try that.

I'm running into this exact same issue on the 2014-04-23-d2lte LiquidSmooth nightly using the new Google Camera. I clean flashed that and installed PA GApps Full + Keyboard. I wasn't running into this issue on PacMan Rom though, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
